The 21 Best Restaurants In Margate

"Early risers or keen morning dippers should head straight to Oast. The neighbourhood bakery on Northdown Road is pretty much busy from the moment it opens at 8am. And with almond pastries this good, it’s easy to see why. Margate locals come by to fill their totes with fresh sourdough or baguette so good you’ll be tearing at it on the spot. Of the pastries, the golden almond creation, loaded with paste and flecks of chocolate is a delight. But so too is the saucisson and gouda croissant. Given the airy space with more than a few places to sit, it’s a lovely spot for an early morning catch-up." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

A lovely little coffee shop/bakery that’s perfect for a cozy stop. The cardamom bun was absolutely delicious, soft, fragrant, and full of flavor. I also had a flat white, which was perfectly balanced. The selection of breads is really tempting - everything looks so good! A great spot for a tasty break.

Our server at a pub in Canterbury recommended this bakery. I am an avid sourdough baker and so I was thrilled to find a bakery with sourdough loaves. We tried the cardamom bun, cinnamon bun and croissant aux amandes. All three and our drinks were just fabulous! Wish we lived in Margate where we could visit regularly!!!

Fantastic little bakery and coffee shop. It was highly recommended by a friend, so had to be tired. Visited Saturday morning. Very welcoming smell of baked bread (and queue) of locals early. I had coffee and bought baked goods. The service was very kind. Operation can be a bit more tidy (no large bags to carry multiple boxes I bought) but we improved. The cakes and pies I bought were AMAZING. Keep it going!

Brilliant bakery and café situated in the funky Northdown Road in Cliftonville. Superb quality bread and baked goods, excellent coffee, all served with a warm and friendly smile. They also sell a small range of gifts, condiments and more. Highly recommended.

Best bakery in Margate (maybe in Kent)! Lovely to visit here during my holiday. Strongly recommend croissant loaf and sourdough! Flat white and green tea were so great. I will definitely come back next time!

Was staying close by and chanced upon this bakery. Emailed Will to see if we could get some starter always nice to get from a bakery if they allow. Despite a blustery day it was very busy but a range of goods sweet and savoury. The croissants were lovely. The saucisson sandwich was divine could have had a few of them but had to resist. Great care on the coffee without a lot of pfaff. Can see why its a hit with people great owners. Well recommended

Such a special little cafe beery, amazing coffee, in a mug! I had americano with oat milk, a croissant as good as one you get in Paris. The music is lovely and the people are nice.

This was my first visit to Oast and I’ll definitely be back. We had brunch in the cafe and tried both sweet and savoury- the potato and green salsa topped focaccia was delicious, as was the tomato tartlet. For sweet, we tasted the filled buns, of which the fruit & custard was my favourite. The cafe itself is warm and inviting, including the staff and you can also see the bakers preparing the bread, which I bought a loaf of (see photo) - very tasty seeded sourdough.
