Reilly makes excellent espresso and provides super attentive, top-notch customer service. A special thanks to her. The coffee is great — there’s a clear understanding of the product, solid technique, and pleasant service. There isn’t much space to sit, as it’s full of people with laptops. But as an option to pop in and enjoy a quality coffee with friendly service — especially to go — it’s just perfect. So if you find yourself in the area, I definitely recommend it.

Finally, after a long search, I came across another good coffee shop with syrups that are made in-house! Latte execution was great and on point, however, the coffee beans are more on the lighter roast side, so the espresso is missing that bolder flavor I prefer. However, that’s just my personal taste and preference. The iced matcha latte was pretty good too.

Good people watching spot in the heart of ocean beach. Menu lists no prices. Expensive. This tiny mocha was $8.50. Plus tip. Geez. Good vibe overall, mellow.

Got just want i wanted. perfect latte execution (imo haha) and in house syrups were a nice surprise. I notice the high quality. My friend also said the iced matcha latte was a hit. Friendly staff and quick service. Great coffee spot overall.

I fell in love with this place day one in Ocean Beach. Not only are their beverages fantastic but their customer service goes above and beyond. It's become my daily boost, not just for the coffee and food but the good vibes. They treat all customers with such kindness and seem to truly pay attention and remember their patrons. It only took one visit for me to know I found my coffee spot.

Came here to catch up on some work. Great WiFi. Good coffee. Chia seed pudding was made with a house-made strawberry compote. The fun drinks like the bikini bottom had options for matcha or espresso. Waffle was good but a bit too sweet for me.

OB Beans is absolutely one of the best places in San Diego to get coffee and hang out (and we go to all the coffee places). Not only is the coffee great, the people are all super friendly and pleasant. We meet so many nice people, they should call it the "nice people coffee place." On top of that, they have a free book shelf that actually has amazing books - we can't believe the fantastic books we've found there!

Super cool coffee shop in Ocean Beach! Love the atmosphere, the staff is super friendly, and the coffee is amazing 🤌🤌 10/10 recommend. I got the 12oz vanilla latte with their house made vanilla and it was soooo good. The "for here" mugs are super cute pottery that added to the overall experience. I'm not sure what went wrong for the people who left less than 5 stars, but don't let it stop you from coming here.

OB Beans Coffee Roasters is located on the main drag on Newport Avenue. Although in a busy part of OB, the coffee shop itself is calming. They have a huge interior space with plenty of areas to post up and study or catch up with friends. They have the standard variety of drinks, but what stands out are their breakfast items. Desperado Bagels can be purchased at OB Beans. They make breakfast sandwiches with them and also sell the bagels on their own. After seeing all the hype about them, I bought a half dozen ($20). I'm a little surprised by the hype around these bagels. They were okay. They molded almost instantly (within a day of me purchasing them). I feel like I have to give them another chance, because they recently scored really high on the San Diego Mag taste testing, but I was really surprised and almost felt like I had gotten duped and just gotten some random ones.

I haven't been here in years and the last time I went with my friend, I believe in 2020- I remember it was enjoyable and the workers mentioned there was no more stamp card usage (as in they've never seen it before in their life). Today I came with my brother. The interior was very spacious, although compared to last time there were a few tables missing from the interior. They are very dog friendly-- so many dogs were in there. But the owners were very aware of their pets so there were no fighting luckily. The workers (3 of them) were kind as well. I ordered an Iced Lavender Latte with Whole Milk (to go). It was quite milky, light, and the lavender flavor was very minimal. The syrup was $1 extra which I think is kind of wild especially if you can't taste it in the drink. Usually it's .50 or .75 additional. My brother ordered an Iced Matcha Latte with alternative milk (+ $1). The worker mentioned it comes presweetened. My brother said the drink was pretty milky as well. Overall, our drinks were milky and I don't think we will be coming back or recommending it to others as we used to. But who knows, they could have a drink you might enjoy so give it a try once and see what you think. They had a big menu and some drink specials, pastries, bagels, etc.

A very solid spot for coffee and light bites. Service was kind and the interior is spacious with plenty of seating. My boyfriend especially loved their latte with seasonal cold foams (maple and brown sugar cinnamon). We came back twice during our trip, which says a lot. I ordered an americano and an açaí bowl, both of which were good and fairly standard. The "best waffle ever" was unfortunately a little too sweet, as it was heavily covered in syrup. That aside, the açaí bowl was quite large for the price point, and the other food options looked promising. Overall, a great café to visit for coffee and more.

After dropping my bicycle at the shop I decided to take a walk over and grab a coffee. Originally asked for a cortado but after seeing their size the barista navigated me into getting their cappuccino with extra shots. Thank you for taking the time to make sure I got my moneys worth. It was cool to see the pictures from what I think from around the world while I waited. Cool esthetics.

My house latte made with Oatmilk was delicious. I added extra sugar so that certainly didn't hurt the situation at all. My husband liked the coffee so much, we bought a pound and they ground it for us

Solid spot to grab a breakfast bite. I really liked the space itself--lively local atmosphere and very spacious. I got the iced chai with earl grey cold foam--I thought the foam especially was delicious, and the chai was decent. I ordered the big kahuna too. The waffle was a little too sugary for my taste, as I was expecting something more savory. Also, the avocado wasn't very appetizing (see photo). I think the pricing was fair, and the staff was friendly. Good spot overall!

Patrons who state their order is "for here" get their drink orders in glassware versus plastic for take out orders. DRINKS I'd give the house made syrups a go when temperatures drop. 4.5/5 Latte, cold: whole milk with half decaf by request, half espresso shot. Exactly what I needed in the afternoon. 4.5/5 Cold brew: with half and half this kept me buzzing for hours 5/5 cold brew with lavender syrup: floral and sweet Late working patrons might get a Semisonic closing treat.

Stopped into this coffee shop after a day at Fiesta Island with the dogs. I specifically looked for a place with house made syrups, which is quite hard to find! But I saw a review where they make all their syrups in-house, so I thought I'd check it out for myself to make sure. There were several coffee places within the area. The interior was very spacious with lots of room for me and my dog to walk through. The employee working there today was very naturally friendly and told me all of their syrups were made in-house. There were several special drinks that looked good, but I went with a hot lavender latte to try their syrup. The drink was good and not sweet at all, which I liked (I usually say half sweet but I didn't, just to see how they made it since house-made syrups are usually less sweet). You could taste a subtle hint of lavender, but it wasn't overwhelming at all. I also liked that the drink didn't taste too milky. I look forward to coming back to trying another drink!

Super welcoming and very fast service but matcha was just straight milk. I'm usually very picky about my matcha and seeing someone else's matcha and how green it was made me think it was gonna be good but after ordering an iced matcha with oat milk and vanilla, it just tasted like vanilla oat milk. Haven't had the coffee yet but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MATCHA!

This community coffee shop is full of love. I saw real passion in the making of the drinks and food-- I saw a patron in a wheelchair with serious challenges get the most tender and respectful care and service imaginable from the team-- truly amazing. There was a tiny mixup with my order that included a fabulous acai bowl and " the best waffle ever". They noticed and fixed the issue with grace and generosity---this establishment and the people here'in are a local gem. Thank you OB Beans

We stopped in on a Saturday morning around 9:00am. Parking is limited to diagonal parking spaces on both sides of the street, so hopefully you can find one. The inside was packed so we were expecting something amazing. However, it was far from it. It took about 20 minutes to get two drinks. People were walking around inside without shoes. The drinks themselves were subpar, nothing to be remembered by. Price wise, it was about the same as any other coffee place.

The coffee shop i like, makes Good coffee and just about it. Plenty of seating area for quick work. Music not too loud like many other coffee shop, so working from here works well.

I came back since I was in the area. Service this time was lackluster. I was not once acknowledged by the cashier. He just stood there, trying to chime in his friends' conversations in the distance. Even when my boyfriend and I tried to order, he was trying to talk his friends - super disrespectful.

Amazing coffee, great staff. Incredibly consistent and well-crafted beverages. Maybe the best iced mocha I've had and definitely my favorite coffee shop in San Diego. My only complaint is that I wish they didn't fill their cups to the point of overflowing. I appreciate as a consumer getting as much of my beverage as possible, but I wouldn't miss just a little bit less milk in my latte so that I'm not spilling on my hands while I walk from the counter to the table by the wall to get a lid. This is especially because the specific plastic cups that are used by the business have this little lip at the top that liquid can get trapped in if you don't wipe it clean before. And then when you go to sip your beverage, that little bit of coffee will escape and end up on your shirt. It's happened to me enough times that I'm extra careful to clean my cup up, but a first-time visitor may not know to do this. Regardless, I will return time and time again because of the quality, consistency, and care they approach service with. Love!!

Best matcha I've ever had, hand whisked and shaken. Great location. Friendly baristas created a special off-menu drink. Can't wait to go back.

Favorite coffee shop we visited on this recent trip to San Diego. My latte was perfect and my husband loved his coffee. I adore how this coffee shop, like everything else in ocean beach, is extremely dog friendly. There were probably like 9 dogs in the shop just hanging out with their owners which was so sweet. We loved it here and hope to return !

This coffee shop has everything I hope for in a coffee spot - the atmosphere is calm and clean, the staff is friendly and the coffee was delicious. The cold brew was a standout, smooth and strong and very flavorful. The espresso was also delicious, strong and roasty. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area!

Great coffee with a cool, hip vibe. The space is quite large and they could use some more seating. Newport Ave. is a busy street so finding parking can be challenging.

When I ask for heavy cream and you tell me yes you have heavy cream and I order heavy cream cappuccino and get milk it turns my weekend morning to shit. The line was very long and I was very specific and ordered 40 dollars of coffee drinks and nobody seems to care. That's annoying. Especially when you charge extra for heavy cream. I know it's a first world problem but I'm the kind of person who really goes out of my way to make sure people have things the way they love them and I guess I should quit expecting the same. Most annoying is that a few days prior someone at ob beans made an excellent heavy cream cap for me so we were all looking forward to that great yummy coffee experience again.

This was the second visit Totally 5 stars I was given a 15$ gift card after the first visit. Customer service and the coffee was prepared with care and cleanliness!! I forgot to apply my 5$ birthday reward therefore, the payment was short 75 cents , I left my purse in the car , the friendly the cashier used cash from the tip jar and gladly finished the transaction. I placed order was to go . I returned with a handful of change, and a tip . I told the young lady - slender blonde that wore blue Jean overalls -sorry I didn't notice her name tag . that I really appreciate what she did. I live inland and this will be my new coffee spot whenever, I see my acupuncturist.

I have been coming here since I'm local and drinks have always been good. But almost every time I come in the staff makes me feel unwelcome. Usually because of the lack of attention and a constant chatter amongst themselves. It feels like I'm interrupting them to order a drink or something. I wasn't satisfied with what I got today(a very sad bagel, that I thought was from desperado bagels but it wasn't) and I asked for a refund but the cashier was very hesitant. And there were no other efforts to make it better. So I just took what I got but will definitely never come back. The two stars is just for the coffee.

I sat outside and finished out work. The area was clean, baristas were kind and inviting. service was fast! I got a honey cinnamon almond milk latte. Would recommend!

5 FREAKING STARS YOU HEAR ME!!!!! So, let me break this down for ya.... 100% one of the best vibe coffee establishments I've visited (globally), and that's saying something! Maybe it's the sewing machine in the window of the boutique.... naw, it's the beans man!!! I digress..... The coffee was legit and the baristas were an absolute pleasure to speak with! I went with a Cortado AND Americano because I wanted to see if the skills matched the vibe, they did!!! Then I realized my nourishment wasn't up to date as I'd just arrived in town from an international flight the evening before. ENTER WAFFLE WITH AVOCADO AND BACON!?!?!?!? What in the ever loving, middle of nowhere corn field, majestic thing of beauty that turned out to be! Seriously, never before seen this pairing, but wow am I glad I can speak to it now!!!! Super pleased with my experience at OB Beans Coffee Roasters, and I sure you will be too!!!

Mediocre drinks but pretty good banana bread. I've come here twice now and both times I wasn't that impressed with the quality of drinks. The service has always been okay, not too friendly and not too slow. The first time I came here I got a coffee which was pretty watered down and not very flavorful. The second time, I tried my partner's chai latte and it had the same problem. My matcha was also pretty watery but had a good earthiness that was what saved it. I'm a pretty big matcha drinker and it was definitely not ceremonial grade and not very green. The banana bread was warm and had a really good texture though so if you're going to get anything, I would suggest the banana bread.

I've been going here for years mostly because it's close and I'm really sad to have to write this but... Hiring a bunch of young kids may keep you "hip" but goddamn they're shit at service. When someone walks in, take their order. Don't ignore the customer and continue a conversation with your homie for 5 minutes. It's not complicated. Just take people's orders. That and the coffee has always been mediocre at best but it's slightly better than most of OB. A few more things, I'm not even criticizing them on quality, which was always all over the place, I'm not giving them 2 starts because they messed my order up, they have many times. I'm giving them 2 starts because they hire children who can't be bothered to listen to someone who isn't their friend they want to impress long enough to take an order. I order basic shit. Nitro cold brew, cortado. Most of the time the cortado was a served as a flat white. Don't sell it if you don't know how to make it.

The service is awesome and the employees are really friendly but I just don't know how this place is so highly rated. It's so expensive and the lattes (including the matcha) just taste like watery milk, upsetting really.

Hands down the BEST Coffee in San Diego! The latte is always perfectly velvety & full of flavor, no sweetener needed. The staff are all helpful & chill. You can tell they actually care. And the vibes are always right, great place to lock in & get some work done or even meet with a friend for a chat. I've gone to a bunch of other notable coffee shops just see if their lattes and cappuccinos are nearly as good and they can't even compare. OB Beans FTW

I got the pumpkin spice chai and it was meh. The waffle with pomegranate jam was OK. Reminded me of a fancy continental breakfast waffle. Big interior with tables and chairs to sit at.

Very nice place in the heart of OB. The place is huge with cool decor and friendly staff. Vanilla latte was very good, rich! Macchiato was great! Cool vibe! When in San Diego, OB is one of the few coffee places to go to!

Big space. They have a handmade clothing shop indoors. Their wifi works well. Even though there was a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, there were always people looking for places to sit or to sit in places with outlets. Their outside patio was quite nice though. Definitely a great place to get work done.

I love ob beans. The atmosphere is amazing every time and it's such a nice place to study. There's a little background noise with people chatting but it's never overwhelming like some other coffee shops I've steered away from that are just a bit too rowdy.

This is a cute coffee shop. I ordered a pour over coffee. The attention to detail they paid to making my coffee was commendable. It definitely showed in the cup as well. It was a nice bright flavor with moderate acidity, light body, and no bitterness. Has a pretty large indoor layout that allows the local dogs to sploot. Would definitely recommend!

I had an iced oat macchiato latte A little pricey but pretty good coffee . Service isn't the best , I ordered a big kahuna waffle , $10 for 2 pieces of bacon and some avocado on a waffle barista slammed utensils on counter with no remorse ‍

Cute little coffee shop in the Newport area. They have a lot of seating inside but not much outside. They also have a lot of different milk alternatives which is a very big plus for me. My cappuccino was delicious!

First time here. Couldn't ask for nicer or friendlier staff. Well, the size of the coffees are limited, I was very happily surprised at just how good the coffee was fresh ground with a great taste. Coming to a place like this remind you of just how commercial a Starbucks is. I will definitely be back.

A cute coffee shop in Ocean Beach. It's pretty big inside and there is a lot of table space, making it a great spot to plant with your laptop. It was also nice to see (at time I was visiting) the space being shared with two other small businesses. I ended up ordering an americano from the coffee side and some Hawaiian shaved ice from one of the stalls. It was delightful.

I've lived in San Diego for years and although I've driven past this shop so many times, today was the first time I finally checked it out. So glad I did! Good to know OB has a great coffee stop. Anytime I go somewhere new I'll looking for three things. The first is the overall vibe of the shop, second is quality of the coffee, most importantly, I always wait to see if customer service is real and not just lip service. Happy to report all three were great! This shop has a great local Ocean Beach vibe to it with plenty of space to hangout and chill. After finding out I was there for the first time, the barista gave me plenty of time and answered all my questions, even helping me choose a drink to my liking not knowing the menu. I wish I got her name but she was awesome! Then the final test of whether or not the coffee is good and mine was great. It was a simple drink with two express shots, oat milk and a little bit of honey to sweeten it (barista recommendation) and it was great. I will definitely come back when in OB and I need a caffeine fix. Stoked I had a good experience!
