Subway Has Pulled its Application to Open on Magazine Street - Eater New Orleans

"O’Brien’s Grille, a fine-dining steakhouse on the West Bank, has closed after a decade in operation reports The Advocate. O’Brien’s distinguished itself in a neighborhood known for casual shops, with an Eater NOLA reader calling it “a solid upscale option.”" - Alison Baitz

Ken, the owner, quickly came to the table and greeted our table (my client frequents there so I think that's why he came), nevertheless it was a nice gesture. The waiter was attentive and professional but I didn't catch his name, a shaved-head gentleman. The building doesn't look like a restaurant and I wouldn't have known if the name didn't include "grille." Omg, the crab au gratin appetizer with the warm, soft French bread was simply amazing, exquisite, so rich...you get the idea. I had the scallop salad as the entree and it was very satisfying. Others ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries and it was equally delicious. My friend ordered the Gulf shrimp pasta, yummy! The shrimp were very fresh. I like the small intimate feel. It is hard to have a conversation a bit though because it is so small and you can hear other people's conversations as well though. All in all though, I highly recommend this Westbank establishment, it definitely is on par with fine dining places in New Orleans.

Ken has an amazing staff , Front of the house and Back of the house. When it's time to get top notch cuisine, this is my go-to spot!

One of the best steak restaurants in the Greater New Orleans area. The atmosphere is very nice and laid back, although a bit small. The staff is friendly and professional. Even with a well done steak, they were able to maintain the tenderness. The mushroom bordelaise sauce is simply superb! I will surely revisit in the future to try more menu items and desserts.

Hands down.... this is the best steak house in the Greater New Orleans area! The food and service are TOP notch! Words really can't describe just how good their food is. I had the Bone in Ribeye... I almost ate the whole steak in one sitting! My hubby had the Fresh Fish Napoleon. We literally could have eaten the sauce (on top of the fish) as a soup. It was ridiculously great!!! Even the house salad was great! I got a cheesecake to go. When I got around to eating it, it was the BEST cheesecake I've ever had. A MUST VISIT.

Had a great time at O'Briens Saturday night. Didn't know what to expect given the commercial building decor but had heard great things about the restaurant. Everything we had heard was correct. The meal was terrific! service was attentive and helpful. oysters O'Brien and the Bar-B-Q Shrimp appetizers were awesome. The prime rib was a huge cut, very tender, great flavor. Will go back again soon!

If you can get over the lack of ambience outside of this place, you will be rewarded by a quiet, romantic atmosphere inside. The food is delish, and the service is good. The wine is a bit over-priced compared to some other restaurants I have been to in New Orleans. For a West bank restaurant this place is a nice change, and it is truly a gourmet experience. Expect to pay gourmet prices, but you will have leftovers for lunch the next day unless you are a complete glutton.

While visiting my elderly cousin she insisted that we go to O'Briens Grille and man am I glad she did! I was underdressed, thinking it would be like a bar & grill type place, but it was really nice inside - would be perfect for a date night. Despite my jeans and sneakers the owner greeted and seated us and made us feel right at home. I won't run through everything the four of us got but I get the impression that ALL of the food is AMAZING! The au gratin potatoes were hands down the best I've ever had, the steaks were cooked perfectly, the soups were divine, and the bread pudding was to die for! It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny for the sumptuous food, delightful service and relaxing ambiance. I'll be visiting her again next year and have already promised to take her back to O'Briens!

If you're looking for a high end steak experience on the westbank, then this is your place. I've been there several times. Most recently had the New York strip and it was fantastic. You'll find all the traditional accompaniments. Also, be sure and check out specials. The last visit, we really enjoyed a fettuccine Alfredo with crabmeat.
