Long Beach’s Queen Mary Ship Reopens Restaurant and Art Deco Cocktail Lounge - Eater LA

"The Observation Bar, previously a first-class lounge on the Queen Mary, has been transformed into a pure cocktail lounge. The venue emphasizes Art Deco details and offers a panoramic view of the Long Beach coastline." - Mona Holmes

Visiting the Queen Mary was a pleasant experience. I can understanding appreciate that the entry fee of $40 per person and the higher prices on drinks help support the maintenance of this beautiful historic ship. While the cocktails were a bit on the sugary side and not particularly impressive, my husband and I enjoyed the opportunity to explore the ship at our own pace on a self-guided tour before visiting the Observation Bar. As an older vessel, the Queen Mary has its unique charm, but it does come with some signs of age. Despite that, we had a lovely time taking in the sights. I noticed there were plenty of staff around, but it would have been nice if they had engaged more with guests. For instance, my husband received attention while ordering drinks, but I didn’t encounter any staff who greeted me. There were a few tables that seemed to need cleaning up after Happy Hour, but it wasn't too much of an issue. We appreciated the chance to watch the sunset from the deck and soak in the atmosphere of this historic location. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and we left with some great memories.

Let me start off by saying the Queen Mary is a fantastic piece of history, I attended these past few days and visited. Their bar, rich history, authentic and absolutely stunning. The food, on the other hand, can be a little better. Everything was delicious besides the sausage flatbread, which was very watery, kind of defrosted in a way. I'm not a big fan of I don't typically complain, but that was absolutely disgusting. Although everything else I had was delicious and fresh, I would definitely come back again

We did eat but had a couple drinks. The art deco is so cool. Just thinking of the history there blows my mind. Churchill himself probably had drinks and cigars there. Make sure you check it out

My husband, his coworker, and I were visiting Long Beach and I randomly found out about the "Meet at the Mary" Tuesday event that comes with free admission to the ship. We went to the Observation Bar and had an amazing time. The live music was fantastic, the drinks were so well made, the flatbreads were delicious, and the service was great. No notes!! We were also able to just walk around the ship after and look at everything. It was awesome. Wish we lived there so we could go all the time.

Google
This bar is one of the best examples of Art Deco styling I have seen. Panoramic windows provide an excellent view of the harbor for an evening cocktail or just grabbing a midday snack. Unfortunately it smells like a college dive bar and is not kept very clean. Additionally the wait staff is very slow and seem to be more interested in standing around talking to each other rather than serving guests. However, they are very nice and provide great service once they realize there are customers. The food that I got was excellent and is the same high level of quality as the rest of the food establishments on the ship.

Hubby and I had 2 delicious cocktails and food here. Nice art deco atmosphere and views. Food was good but small serves. We were overcharged in final bill but server gave us 2 more cocktails to compensate which was appreciated. Service was good. We'd go here again.

The atmosphere is great with a beautiful view of the ocean. I especially like to come here for special events like Karaoke or Jazz night. I am not a big fan of the food and drinks. Although I think the bubbles of queen mary champagne are worth it.

We got onboard last night and leave tomorrow for a cruise. Last night I enjoyed a great glass of wine overlooking the bay. The music was a nice touch and the seats were surprisingly comfy. Tonight, we had an appetizer while waiting for our dinner reservation. They were out of the charcuterie which was our first choice. Second choice was the sausage flatbread with sausage, mozzarella, and marinara. It was swimming in marinara and had maybe 3 strands of cheese on the whole thing. Seriously, find the cheese in my pic🤣. The bar itself is super cool and the drinks were great, but the flatbread was just not good unfortunately.

Yelp
I brought my husband back to this bar after brunch on The Queen Mary. We always feel like we stepped back in time, in this beautiful bar with gorgeous art deco architecture. The velvet chairs and views out towards the front of the ship make it feel like you are on a cruise, but highly elegant. It almost feels like a hidden VIP bar, with delicious drinks and appetizers, and great service. We are looking forward to attending events on The Queen Mary in 2025 and coming back here again and again. Keep in mind that there is a fee to enter The Queen Mary unless you have brunch reservations. Unsure if other restaurants allow you passage onto the ship.

Yelp
This place was disappointing We went for after dinner drinks and 3 drinks on the menu could not be served because and I quote.." Starbucks is closed and we can't make coffee "Ok..cool but we were also informed that they did not have appetizer menu items..when I asked to talk to the manager John Slivan he said and I quote.. "what do you want me to do?" Seriously!!??..wow the most condescending person I have encountered in restaurant management he will affect the business of this place My recommendation don't waste your money here...spend your hard earned funds in any other great place in Long Beach like Gladstones..Yardhouse or L'Opers or PF Chang

Yelp
My husband and I decided to hit up the Queen Mary on a Tuesday based off of rave reviews by our friend. Well, let me tell you, it was a blast! First, the people watching. Now, I don't say this in a "People of Walmart" sort of way, full of judgement and disparaging remarks. No, the people who frequent this bar on Tuesdays are here to be seen! There are so many people dressed up either for the theme of the live band or in 1920's fashion. We loved just seeing all the different styles. Pro tip, you don't need to be dressed up but I want to now! Second, the music was so good and at a great volume. I could talk on my husband but also hear the fabulousness. Third, there are drink specials and food specials. Our server was amazing! Trying to get drinks through this crowd to the table should be its own Olympic sport. The downside, the drinks were fine, not great. It is stuffy on the ship and in the bar. We sat by a door and that was amazing. We were comfortable while many others looked much hotter. Pro tip, bring a fan. It's also very popular. Finding a seat was hard. My husband and I showed up at 4:30 with no seats to be had. We went to the bar in front of the Chelsea Chowder House and had a bite to eat there and a drink. We went back and luckily found a seat. People stay put for a while. Final pro tip: it's free to get on the Queen Mary if you reserve online for this Tuesday event. Just Google Meet Me at the Mary and Tuesdays and it should pop up. You can roam the ship or stay at the Observation Bar the whole time.

Yelp

Yelp
I would give it a negative review if I could. Not because of the bar but the $90 COVER CHARGE!!!!! Yes you go there as a couple for cocktails and snacks with a wonderful view in the classic old ship. Then SURPRISE SURPRISE you are told you have to PAY $45 EACH for the honor to get on the boat and to the bar. Do you get maybe a free drink at the bar for your $90 cover charge? Nope, do you get ANYTHING for your $90 cover charge NOPE. Sure you get on the boat and can walk around and get a guided tour if you want (most don't because they are going to a BAR) but tell me would you take a group of friends there? Would you go back? Would that leave a good taste in your mouth? Come on Long Beach do BETTER, Maybe at minimum a discount for people with a Long Beach I.D. After all my taxes keep that old ship afloat. NEVER AGAIN.

Yelp
Our server Michelle was so friendly and quick to get us anything we needed. She definitely made sure we were satisfied with our food and made the first time visit much more pleasant!! Thanks Michelle!

Yelp
A jump back into time... so cool. Art deco to the nth degree. Great views. Live music and dancing on Tuesdays Folks dress up in period costumes and dance swing. You MUST visit if you've never been

Yelp
We saw a notice on Instagram that they have happy hour on Tuesdays with free parking and free admission from 4-8pm (screenshot attached). It also states that there is no reserved seating, first come first serve. While digging through their website my friend found a link to make a reservation which didn't make sense but we did it anyway just to be on the safe side. We arrived around 6pm, and at the front, and people who did not have a reservation had to pay $10 to get in, contrary to their advertisement. It was cool to see the Queen Mary, the music was great and people were dressed up. The views of Long Beach at night are pretty awesome. All their drinks are served in plastic cups though, and food options are limited. We ordered drinks and kept a tab open. When my boyfriend went to close his tab, they had given his card to someone else and charged several rounds of these other people's drinks on it. Thankfully, they were still on the ship when we found this out, and we were able to get everything fixed but it still took some time. The food was not great, drinks were pretty sweet, which is why I decided to get a glass of wine instead. There was a smaller bar outside with no line which is where we went. The regular price of the wine was $12, the happy hour price stated starting at $8, but the bartender charged us $14! When we asked why, he didn't even know. He said he just pushed the button, and he wasn't able to fix it and get me the money back. We weren't happy with this so he poured us more wine, but it's just not right nor what we wanted. The last straw was that they were going around and telling everyone happy hour ends at 7pm, again contrary to their advertisement. This place could be great if they clean up their act and improve their customer service. As of now, we won't be going back.

Yelp
Found onboard the Queen Mary, this bar is designed in a 1930s style and gives you an idea on what it must've been like to be onboard the ship while it was still active. A great bar complete with classic music. Good drinks. I know they serve some light bites at times, but we didn't try them. Prices are good during happy hour and still not that bad during regular hours. Super comfortable seating inside with some beautiful views overlooking the ship and the harbor. Take a seat by the window and enjoy! Overall, a good stop to enjoy a drink and the ship while onboard the Queen Mary.

Yelp
We popped by for a quick drink before a tour. I wasn't expecting much, but I I was surprised. The "weekend at the Waldorf" cocktail was good! The service was friendly. The bar art deco and charming. Having the pretzel bites rounded out the experience. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
This bar was such a fun experience! The weekend before our stay in late May 2023, I was beyond excited to see the Queen Mary posting on social media that the Observation Bar was re-opening in time for our visit. Prompted by the pandemic, the entire ship had been closed for the past three years to complete renovations & repairs. As part of their projects, the Observation Bar was completely restored & refreshed during this time. Though I never saw the space previously, I'm in love with the final result. After we checked in on 05/25/2023, we wandered the decks & then stopped in for a drink. I ordered a cranberry & house vodka, and was delighted to see it was only $6. Hubs chose a cocktail from the menu for ~$15. Both drinks were tasty; I was paying & I have no complaints. Service was great, and we enjoyed the retro vibe. I only wish we'd had more time to visit again. The art deco style was fantastic, and I felt like we'd stepped back in time! And, of course, the views were amazing.

Yelp
My first time here @theobservationbar it's a beautiful place the ambience is amazing. Tonight is meet me at the mary happy hour, had such a wonderful time. My server was wonderful #Michelle very attentive to my needs and wants. I met Haytham who is the manager also met Sam he's the GM. I also met the captain of the Queen Mary #james. The drinks are good along with yummy food tonight it was a win-win situation. I will definitely return very soon...

Yelp
Wow, just wow! The spectacular view of Down Town Long Beach / Pike was just awesome. The drinks were tasty and very affordable. The wait staff was ok, felt like we had to ask for stuff rather than asking if we were ok. We really enjoyed the BBQ chicken flat bread pizzas as well. But what stole the show was the entertainment....JAMES KING was FANTASIC! Singing all the oldies like Elvis, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra.......such and entertainer.....we cannot wait for James to come back...we will be there front and center!

Yelp
I didn't get very many pics inside but this bar is probably the best part of the shop. The views were amazing. We spent most of our time outside. Margarita was a little bitter but I didn't expect much and was only having one drink.

Yelp
We went for Happy Hour on a Tuesday. The bar was crowded and prices were steep for HH, but the ambiance was nice. We had to pay $20 for parking. There was live music. The drinks were decent. The food menu is very limited. The views of DTLB are amazing.

Yelp
We have been on the Queen Mary several times and were even married there, it is honestly one of our favorite local historical spots. Unfortunately it never seems to be managed very well, and this continues to be an issue even as it's owned by the city of Long Beach. We stopped by the observation bar after our tour to get a drink because we'd never actually had one there before. The bar itself is beautiful of course, classic art deco decor and a view of the bay (which is filled with trash). The bar is SEVERELY understaffed. One bartender and one server were the only people working and the bar was full! I felt so bad for these workers who were clearly overwhelmed and struggling to keep up with all the guests. As a result we waited quite awhile for service, waited longer for drinks, and our check never came so we just left our money on the table and walked out. I don't blame the servers or the bartenders they should have had support and it shows more poorly on the management who is understaffing. Also we sat down at 4:10, ten minutes after the bar opened and they were out of a lot of ingredients. I had to switch drinks because they didn't have Mezcal or absinthe. There were flies in the bar which I get is hard to control on the bay, but the amount INSIDE the bar was pretty gross and really makes you question the cleanliness of everything. Based on the service, and the overpriced drinks I would not come back to drink here and I don't really recommend it either. Walk in, check out the decor and the original furnishings, but wait and get a drink across the bay at Shoreline.

Yelp
I have friends in town and they wanted to have a cocktail at the Observation Bar. So I went to the website to see what the entrance/parking situation was. The website simply stated there were no reservations and seating in the bar area was first come first serve. When we arrived to the parking lot, my friend noticed that it stated parking was only $10 with validation from restaurant, does buying drinks at bar also get validation we wondered? But once at main entrance we were told we had to pay $45 per person to enter the ship! This was not on the website, and is quite frankly ludicrous. So you lost three paying customers, and I'm sure we aren't the only ones that think this fee is ridiculous.

Yelp
We visited the Observation Bar while on board awaiting a tour to begin. Although I overall did not have a pleasant experience aboard the Queen Mary, I did enjoy this bar. Our server was great; very attentive without being overbearing. The drinks were tasty, but I honestly can't even remember what I had. The food was pretty underwhelming and, as mentioned, the overall experience on the ship was poor, but I'm still giving the bar four stars because I enjoyed the drinks and service, plus you can't beat the ambiance and décor of the bar. I'd recommend checking it out for drinks if you're already planning a visit to the Queen Mary but stay away from the overpriced, basic food.

Yelp
We went to the Meet me at the Mary Tuesday night gathering. It was a fun time of music, dancing and drinking. We had appetizers, the drinks were good priced because we were there at happy hour. Our server Christian was attentive but he was running when it got busy. We didn't stay aboard ship but we were able to walk around the decks and enjoy the Long Beach views.

Yelp
Nice interior Good music My michelada drink was so so The chips were served warm though Nachos and spinach and artichoke was so so Nice view of the deck Paid $25 for parking perhaps because of the Halloween event

Yelp
This was the second Meet at the Mary Tuesday happy hour I have been. The last time two weeks ago we had real glasses- yesterday they had PLASTIC! When they brought the drinks to the table in plastic glasses we all looked at each other. Really? People dressed up, a lounge singer, beautiful ambiance and then a martini and other drinks served in PLASTIC? The photo (click on to see both drinks) was taken when the drinks first arrived at the table ( no we did not have any yet!) the drink in the back is a martini and the small red drink in the front is one of their specialty drinks. We did order food- and it came out on regular plates with real forks, knives and black napkins. Really QM these cups are just CHEAP- I suppose you get points for not being in a RED SOLO cup. Oh and and how about the enviorment? Big vibe killer!

Yelp
I visited the bar years ago and had fond memories. Today, I decided to take my elderly parents for happy hour to celebrate a special date. I checked the bar webpage, and it says NOTHING about requiring general admissions of $40. To make matters worse, the staff at the front entrance showed an infuriating degree of indifference to me or my elderly parents, even with a touch of mockery. Nope.

Swan C.

Yelp
Good vibe & views with quick service. Didn't have any food here but the drinks were great!

Michele V.

Yelp
We had a lovely afternoon at the Observation bar. Our server Michelle was fabulous and the drinks and view were terrific!

Yelp
While waiting for a tour of the Queen Mary, I decided to grab a bite to eat and drink in this bar. The tacos were good (not great - just good), and the buffalo wings were small and also just okay. The menu only includes appetizers so not a huge selection. I took advantage of the 50% off a 2nd appetizer after checking in on Yelp. Based on the food I'd only give it a 2 but the views are really nice and I like the setup in the restaurant (which is why I give it 3 stars). I found it very loud in the bar and the music wasn't very impressive. Remember to get your parking ticket validated so you only get charged $10 instead of $20.

Michael M.

Yelp
The decor is beautiful, but the drinks suck. We got a mai tai and a cosmo and if there was any alcohol in them it was super secret hidden alcohol. 61 dollars later for two drinks that we had to wait for when there were maybe ten other people in the place, it was a real let down. If you want to pay 30 bucks a drink for mocktails, this is the place for you.

Alex M.

Yelp
I wish this place had no entry fee into the Queen Mary because I would come here more often. I've never tried the food but the ambiance is all you need and your favorite cocktail. A must for everyone living in Southern California

Yelp
After walking all levels of the ship, stopping to take pictures and strolling in shops, we decided our first night on board should be spent at The Observation Bar. They weren't very busy when we arrived, but they certainly filled out as we sat there enjoying our drinks and appetizers. Apparently, it was karaoke night, and people were expecting it. I'll be honest, though. When I first heard the DJ announce the karaoke list was open, my thought was, "Time to go!" Everything inside me rebelled against the thought of sitting in a bar, listening to drunk people warble on. But then I realized, we'd be sitting in a bar, listening to drunk people warble on! How epic is that?! But I digress. We ordered a couple of drinks (I started with a Dark And Stormy cocktail [spiced rum, lime juice, and ginger beer]), while my husband decided he needed a half yard of Guinness, stat! We also ordered the Cured Meats and Artisan Cheese plate and the Margherita Pizza to share. Karaoke night was warming up quick at that point, so our drinks came out just at the right time. The Dark and Stormy was good and could've been very dangerous had I continued on with that drink. As it was, though, once I finished the cocktail, I realized I wanted a Guinness of my own. Just a pint, though, cuz I'm a lady. The charcuterie plate was decent, though I admit I didn't touch the meats. My husband loved 3/4 of the meats presented but said that one had a flavor he just couldn't enjoy. The cheeses were mix of cheddar, pepper jack, goat and smoked. We got a small handful of Marcona almonds and a mound of stone ground mustard to supplement. Oh, and there were olives. Lots of olives for my husband to consume. I realized I chose poorly with the Margherita pizza. It was limp and bland, and altogether uninspired. Our waitress was sweet and funny (and running around in antlers with a painted nose, which set the scene). She got busy as the bar started to fill, but she never forgot us. And I get that they can charge what they like for food and beverage since you're almost captive on the boat, but our bill was a bit surprising.

Rosalind J.

Yelp
In order to experience the Observation bar you will need to pay $26 for parking and another $40 per person for admission to board the ship before you can buy a food or drink which is additional. You won't see it advertise that way. We had a 10 of us not interested in any tour just wanted to experience the bar. We were not going to pay $40 so we left. Lost revenue for the bar. Bad PR for the Queen Mary.
google avatar

Nikki O.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my birthday and had a lot of fun. We were staying on the ship so wanted a nice evening out where we didn't have to drive. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita and Passionate Affair cocktail. They were delicious. Throughout the night, a DJ plays music which I thought was pretty cool. They also have outside seating where you can enjoy the sunset! Overall, pretty cool place and want to visit again.

Yelp
Back in the days when "R.M.S. Queen Mary" plied the Atlantic Ocean, the Observation Bar was the First-Class lounge, for the rich and famous. Observation Bar retains it's 1930's Art Deco decor, and original artwork still hangs above the bar. I actually had the pleasure to visit this fine restaurant a couple of years ago, and I'm just getting around to posting on Yelp. Observation Lounge is pure, 1930's Art Deco, and features original furniture and original paintings above the bar. Today, I felt a just a little bit out of place, with the particular version of English I speak, several of my fellow diners were from England and Australia. On this early Friday afternoon, I seemed to be the only American on board! Observation Bar offers a small selection of appetizers, such as chicken wings, hummus dip, shrimp cocktails, egg rolls and meat and cheese combination plates. I opted for a plate of "Queen Mary Chicken Wings," barbecue style. (You can choose between barbecue or spicy.) For $10.00, you get 10 wings, three celery sticks, and a small cup of Ranch dressing. Like the draught Dos Equis beer, at $7.00 a pint, it's priced on the high side, but the wings were delicious, the atmosphere was stunning, and the experience was priceless. You get what you pay for, and at the Observation Bar, you get atmosphere, quality and class. Observation Bar is a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, or in my case a couple of beers, nibble on delicious pub-style appetizers, in a stylish, sophisticated, 1930's Art Deco atmosphere. I highly recommend spending a day on the Queen Mary Resort, and enjoying a bite to eat, and a beer or two at Observation Bar.

Yelp
There were some great things about this bar, but I feel like it's not living up to its full potential. They advertise it as the art deco first-class lounge from the 1930s with photos of women in sequined dresses, so I was hoping to feel like I'd stepped back in time and was an actual first-class passenger on a luxury liner. I was a little disappointed when I walked in and saw (1) children, (2) TVs with sports shows, and (3) ZZ Top music blaring. (I don't have a problem with children, but I was expecting a swanky bar atmosphere based on their advertising.) On the plus side, the bar is lovely and has some very cool art deco details. You are on a ship, which is fun, and there's a nice view of the harbor. They have an excellent happy hour menu with deals on food and drinks, and the menu actually gives suggestions for cocktails for the well liquors, which I've never seen. The food, drinks, and service were great. Tip: They're website isn't very clear, but you do have to buy a ticket to the ship to go to the bar and restaurants. But if you go after 6:00, the ticket is only $13, and they give you a $10 voucher for the bar/restaurants. The parking situation was weird when I went. The gate was up on the way in, so I didn't get a ticket, and the valet said I just needed to show the person at the exit my ship ticket. The guy at the exit seemed confused and said he was just going to charge me $5. The website said $10 with validation, so I was fine with that.

Yelp
I used to visit the Observation bar on occasion about 20 years ago. It was very quiet, and I was often the only patron. Not so this Saturday night. I was staying in one of the original staterooms for the night, and my wife and I decided to check the bar out for a nightcap. It was around midnight, and we were lucky enough to nab the last table, and just in time. The mood was already raucous, with loud music and dancing, but then three separate post wedding groups came in and simply jammed the place. I can't even recall the last time I've been to a bar where the partying was so aggressive, by so many people. It was fun for people watching, but a little much for me. What I really love about the place is the decor. It's all original art deco done to the extreme, intended to impress the only original guests allowed to gather in the bar back in the 30s; the first class passengers. I looked up what the fare would have been back in the day, and a first class stateroom was about 70,000 bucks in today's dollars. Aside from the beautiful decor, the views are fantastic. Huge windows look out onto the cityscape, which is just as good at night as it is during the day. They also have an outdoor seating area, if you need a bit more space, and there are lots of tables out there. Go for the uniqueness and history of the bar, but don't count on stellar bar food. Our nachos had cheese sauce from a can. Drinks were pretty good though, but don't expect a moscow mule in a copper cup. They just don't do that. They don't need to.

Yelp
Beautiful views with a historic flair, just one reason to come visit The Observation Bar. The Queen Mary is arguably one of the largest attractions in Long Beach and what's a visit to a city's largest attraction without a cocktail. What I love: The decor of this bar sends you back in time with it's beautiful architecture, craft cocktails and occasional live music. They always have some interesting specials that fit the character and charm of the era when Queen Mary was at the top of it's game. If you prefer to stay in the present, they also offer a full bar with a few decent beers on tap. The view of the city skyline is one you won't find anywhere else unless you headed off on a cruise ship. What I don't care for: It's not exactly a hop, skip and jump away. You will definitely need to drive (and pay for parking - $8 with validation), take a Lyft/Uber or ride the water bus over. The glass on the deck is most definitely weathered and somewhat obstructs the amazing views. The prices are a bit steep but it's obvious you're paying for the experience more than the actual booze. Overall, I love bringing my out of town guests here for a cocktail or two. It's worth the adventure to arrive a little early and walk the ship.

Yelp
Fantastic service and food! We had the manager serving us and he really went out of his way to make things right. We went a few times over the course of the week. Happy hour drinks were great and so were the speciality drinks. The happy hour menu is impossible to track down. I attached a photo of it.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this place. The service is absolutely horrible! When I ordered a margarita our waiter gave me this rude look then asked to see my ID. He never came by again after our drink order, he was horrible. We wanted to order food and more drinks so each time we had to get up and go to the bar to do that. We ordered chips and salsa and BBQ wings. They were both good-average. Later on about 9:30pm we came back because my boyfriend just wanted to buy a cigar. Apparently they didn't have a cutter so the bartender cut it with a knife and did a terrible job but was kind enough to offer him another. My boyfriend cut it himself this time and it was perfect. He then asked for matches, they didn't have any or any lighters. He told us to go on the patio and ask around for one. Absolutely ridiculous, a place that sells cigars but no matches.

Yelp
Spent the day on the Queen Mary. She is an amazing ship. Stopped in and had drinks at the Observation Bar. My husband had a margarita on the rocks and I had the passionate affair. Delicious. Service great and the atmosphere wonderful.

Yelp
Bottom line: Meh. It is an experience to visit this bar. However, as much as they want it to be classic, it just looks tattered. The food was ok, but even though it was Happy Hour, no discounts on food. I would not return, even if staying at the Queen Mary.

Yelp
Only serves appetizers and drinks. Appetizers were way too expensive. Got the potato skins for $12 and should have gotten the chips and salsa for $11. BUT, i was told they were going to make "fresh" salsa and it would take 15-20 minutes so they compensated and gave me guacamole instead. I'm not a big guacamole fan, so i waited for the salsa. AN HOUR HAS PASSED and still no salsa. It shouldn't take an hour to make salsa and the waiter was unapologetic about the wait. Restaurant is tacky and small tables. Would not go here again.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Love the old fashioned ship vintage theme, the layout, the decor, the seatings are all very old and classic, beautiful! We picked a window table, a very cute blonde waitress come to us very shortly after we sat down, greeted us friendly and brought us the menus, I ordered a bloody Mary first, had to get some drinks on right away, the drink menu is very interesting, many Queen Mary cocktails from old times, old fashioned classics, they even have Vesper! A lot of restaurants or bars can't make that drink because they don't carry Lillet, a French wine and liquor. Hubby loves that drink, I don't care for it, cause I don't like Gin. The small bites menu is good, a little bit of everything for everybody, I ordered olives and veggie egg rolls, hubby ordered meat trio. The olives were so yummy, juicy and salty, perfect to snack on, the veggie egg rolls were amazing, very delicious. Hubby liked the ham a lot, great with crostini and mustard. I ordered more Bloody Mary, along with Grey Goose shot and martini. They make very strong drinks, great generous pours, very impressive! The food and drinks were just perfect, we took time to enjoy a sunny beautiful afternoon there, relaxing, cozy and pleasant. The service was great, our waitress was extremely attentive and fast, it was getting crowded in the late afternoon, glad we got there early to be able to enjoy some quieter and quality time. All cocktails are only $12 each, they are all made with premium liquor! I would have spent some time in the patio if it wasn't so cold and windy, maybe in summer times, the views are amazing! Ps. Valet at the hotel and restaurants, remember to validate parking ticket, it's $12 instead of $18.

Yelp
Forget the Ghost Tour- come here for the ultimate Spirits experience. The rules change now and then, so check ahead. Sometimes you have to pay a deposit to get to the bar, other times you need to pay a price that goes toward your bar bill, sometimes it's free after a specific time, other times you have to answer riddles three from a troll, and other times the only way on is to wear a fireman outfit and run past the guard holding a bucket of soup yelling, "No time to explain!" The bar is the prettiest thing on the boat, unless you count that bloodied Marilyn Monroe character there for Dark Harbor n Halloween, but I have issues. It's classic and chic with art deco style, with true history being the first class bar of the leading transatlantic cruisers of the cocktail age that once ferried WWII soldiers. So technically this bar is on the National Register of Historic Places. Beat that, Panama Joe's. (Though to be fair, Panama Joe's signature smell of beer-soaked rubber mats is on the National Register of Historic Blecch). Great views of the harbor and all of your selfie captions can be "I'm on a boat!" TIP: Parking is FREE if you spend $20 or more after 6pm. Which is easy because that's 1 1/4 of one drink. Otherwise, parking is $8-15, unless you take the free purple bus from downtown (Passport D- you know you like to hop on the D) or take the Aqualink (a boat, which beats this bar out as best in Long Beach). Karaoke 9-1 on Fridays and entertainment 9-1 every Saturday, which is usually a DJ. I really like DJ Tanner. Becky and Darlene come to see him almost every night.

Yelp
Cool spot for the view. Go for happy hour - really good deals. KEEP IN MIND, however. It costs $30/person to get onto the Queen Mary before 6:00pm. It's only $13 after 6:00, and some of that money can go toward your bar tab. The chairs are pretty ripped up/beat up in the bar... but it gives you that feel of being in a swanky old school ship bar. Took my wife here for a little date. I'll definitely go again with friends.

Yelp
Can I live here? Because I want to live here. I want to be alive and live here, I should clarify, I don't wanna be one of those haunty ghosty things because then you can't enjoy the beverages! This place is nothing short of historical, classical, and downright intriguing. Placed at the stern of the QM, you'll find a great menu of old timey drinks and some snackage that you can enjoy while you look out upon Rainbow Harbor. I had a ridiculously good rock melon cocktail as well as a nicely-prepared mint julep and if I had a magic wand, I would use it to wish myself aboard right now (because suddenly the wine I'm enjoying isn't as enjoyable, thinking back to the Observation Bar cocktails...). The reason for 4 stars and not 5? The prices are a bit steep. Yes I know this is a tourist location and most certainly a novelty, but it is way too damn easy to rack up a $70 check with two people drinking two cocktails each and sharing a spinach dip. Also, the service isn't as top notch as you would hope for. The ladies helping the tables seem a bit...jaded?...they're just not as excited to be there as I wished they would be. Oh, side note, it looks like you can take your beverage to go. I saw quite a few people strolling the (original wood, didjaknow?!) decks with wine or beer in hand. So, now you know, you can take your booze to go. Maybe it'll give you the bravery to take one of those haunted tours. ;)

Yelp
I stayed overnight on the Queen Mary and wandered into the Observation Bar for a late night drink. The bar itself is beautiful and offers great views of the downtown Long Beach area. They had a nice selection of beers to choose from. My bartender was Lida and she really made my night for me. She was welcoming and I found out she was from Cambodia. I had visited there once and I enjoyed hearing stories about her country from her perspective. She gave great service and went out of her way to have conversation with me (despite an annoying patron next to me). This is a nice laid back bar with a cool art deco mural on the wall.
