Killer drinks, snacks, arcade games, & punk decor

"As the down-and-dirtier sibling of famed cocktail haunt Williams & Graham next door, this beloved LoHi bar serves up killer drinks and snacks like deviled eggs, chopped cheese sandwiches, and hot dogs with sauerkraut while streaming an assortment of games on several screens. Granted, when the Giants (or the Rangers, or the Knicks) are playing, New York haters should steer clear." - Ruth Tobias

"To dismiss Occidental as a punk-themed dive is to do a disservice to this little sibling of Williams & Graham, bartender Sean Kenyon’s celebrated cocktail destination next door. While it most certainly is that, it exudes a witty charm that elevates both its decor and its menu. The crackerjack crew whips up original drinks laced with everything from chocolate-infused bourbon and marshmallow simple syrup to chicory liqueur and tobacco bitters, all of which pair with an array of easygoing but well-made snacks on offer until 1 a.m.: cheeseburgers topped with crab dip, say, or tots loaded with chicken shawarma, mozz, and lemon-parsley tahini." - Eater Staff

"Next door to its sister bar, Williams & Graham, this LoHi spot brings a bit of dive bar mixed with gastropub into the neighborhood. At Occidental, the rough edges are balanced by the refined, the raw with the hospitable, and visitors can get a high-end cocktail next to a cheap can of beer. On the food menu, the green chili mac and cheese should not be missed, nor should the chicken shwarma tots or Taylor ham sandwich. There’s football on during game season, and a spot waiting at the bar to sit with a glass of whisky in hand." - Vox Creative
