"The seafood-focused Ocean 48 is set to land in Newport Beach early next year, and the Mastro group has indicated they would love to open an Ocean 48 in San Diego as they expand more of their brands in Southern California." - Helen I. Hwang

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Ocean 48, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, everything was executed flawlessly. I enjoyed the dry-aged ribeye, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The sides were equally impressive. The corn crème brûlée was a standout, and the crab and shrimp mac n’ cheese was rich and delicious. I also highly recommend starting with the caviar cones, which were both unique and elegant. The ambiance was romantic, with our table set beside a shallow pool in the middle of the dining room, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion. Our server was exceptional, attentive and personable, even addressing us by name throughout the evening. To make the night even more memorable, the general manager presented us with a handwritten card wishing us a happy anniversary, such a thoughtful touch. Ocean 48 exceeded our expectations in every way, food, service, and atmosphere. A truly memorable evening, and we will definitely be returning.

Ocean 48 in Newport is hands down the best steakhouse in Orange County. Their steaks are always cooked to perfection and the appetizers make the experience even better. The shells and cheese are incredible and the crème brûlée corn is a must try every time. The sides overall are awesome and really elevate the meal. The servers are welcoming, attentive, and make you feel right at home. Every visit is consistently great which is why Ocean 48 is one of my favorite spots in Orange County.

Amazing food, beautiful décor, and such a thoughtfully designed seating area! The manager, Rodrigo, is truly the best, he leads his team with professionalism and genuine kindness. From the warm welcome at the door to the cooks in the back, every staff member delivered outstanding service. The food was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely recommend Ocean 48 to all my friends and family! 😀

The atmosphere was very elegant. We sat at a booth by the pool. The food was phenomenal. We had the beef tartar, cavier cones- which we could not get enough of they were so good... the big eye tuna and the scallops. As for parking, there is valet, but there is also a mall parking lot not too far away.

Absolutely gorgeous and classy place to dine! My friend invited us here for early dinner and it is our first time here. Service was very fine and professional. Food was fantastic. The steaks are served on a very hot plate, so be careful. They serve the bread automatically, and just the bread was so tasty without any butter. Steak was hot and very good. The fish, the sashimi, everything was wonderful. Great place for romantic date. And for special occasions. Parking is valet, but you can park on the mall's parking lot and just walk over. We kind of turned in the valet area already then realized that we can park outside, but we fell baf since the valet people are already approaching us do we left our car with valet. Definitely recommend this wonderful place!

We were greeted by friendly doorman who kindly offered to take our picture in front of the restaurant sign. My fiance and I were dressed to impress so it was appropriate for us to capture a photo for our memories. We were here to celebrate a lifetime achievement for her and overall our dining experience was superb as the staff are super friendly and professional. We had several dishes including some oysters, a single jumbo shrimp, some scallops with caviar, two lobster tails, pork chops, a giant baked potato, sauteed mushrooms, shells and cheese, and beignets to go. The food was delicious which is an understatesment and the service was impeccable. I have a few gripes which I'll get to in detail but overall the restaurant offers a five-star dining experience. My first gripe is the dress code and although I like that there is a dress code, there were many guests that did not dress appropriately to my standards and arrived in shorts for example. I criticized the male patrons because I was wearing pressed pants, a French cuff shirt, and a Navy sport jacket with pocket square. My second complaint is minor but a keen detail for when lemon slices or lemon is served. Basically, the lemons could be deseeded or placed in a lemon net and this small detail is what separates a fine dining experience apart from a finer dining experience. Unfortunately all lemons served here were not de-seeded or covered. Lastly, we were served a very small oyster in comparison to the other oysters we received. I reported this issue to our server and she corrected it immediately. A manager even came over to apologize which I greatly appreciated. All of my gripes and issues did not prevent me from rating this place with all five stars and all the stars are well deserved. Since we were celebrating we received a complimentary beignet dessert as well as some brownie textured powdered sugar cookies at the end of our meal. We also had cocktails with our dinner and all I could remember was that they were strong and the ice was stamped with the Ocean 48 logo. Overall I highly recommend this place for a celebratory dinner and if you dare to impress your taste buds with some of the best tasting dishes of its kind.

I must say, Ocean 48 is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. From the moment you walk in until the very end, everything is thoughtfully done and well-executed. The ambiance is inviting, and the staff are exceptional—always attentive when you need something, yet they give you enough space to enjoy private time with your friends or family without feeling rushed or interrupted. The food was simply outstanding. I had the filet mignon, Branzino, and wild mushroom dish, and every bite was packed with flavor. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and tender, the Branzino was fresh and beautifully prepared, and the wild mushrooms added a rich, earthy touch that tied the meal together. It’s clear the chefs take great pride in their craft. The service and cuisine strike the perfect balance, making you feel cared for while delivering a top-notch dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back to this spot—it’s a gem!

This is a story about a high end restaurant who serves an end piece filet mignon on our 42nd anniversary. Our company use steakhouse for Christmas party and I was hoping this place is good and we can use for next party — but we are probably going to stick with Ruth’s Chris. I’ve had a A5 wagyu in Japan but I wasn’t expecting that but I wasn’t expecting Ocean48 would serve me an end piece for my filet mignon. Aren’t they embarrassed serving customer this?!? End piece also had hard part… my husband asked he would switch with mine but this was his first steak since he got sick and I didn’t want to ruin it for him. Over all food was really good but the unprofessional attitude and the lack of integrity was all over the steak. Our server David was truly amazing and we at least had an experience (besides steak). 3stars are for David really. Bathroom: they wave washlett (clean your back side with water) but I am not a fan of sharing toilet with gentlemen. I had to use after a guy and —-let me just say I had to clean the toilet before I use it. There was a girl who does cleaning but one person can only do so much. Bathroom counter was all wet and yeah Dress code: it’s like a law- if you are not gonna enforce, it’s useless. I had a dress on but a woman in front of me had a bike shorts and a tank top. 🙄 My husband got healthier and finally be able to eat steak so I didn’t want to make a scene and didn’t say anything but—Ocean 48 your chief’s decision truly disappointed us.

Yelp
What can I say about this place? Well first the service is amazing! Very attentive and one of the workers there gave us a tour of the restaurant after we had dinner. They had private tables that were off the glass kitchen and you could see into the kitchen while they were working. Kinda like Hells Kitchen. No extra cost to you just need to ask for the view. They also have the pool room that was very intimate and quiet to where it was easier to hear your party. Then the whiskey room. Wish I got more pictures. Now let's move onto the food. We had the thick cut hanging bacon. What can I say it's bacon so it's going to be great anyway. But this was thick cut and had a delicious glaze on it. Next we had oysters on a half shell. Again very good and they had several different sauces, champagne mignonette and one other. All amazing and the oysters also came with lemon, and hot sauce as well. Deeeeeelicious! Then I had the wedge BLT which was amazing. If you like blue cheese you're gonna LOVE this! Packed with flavor from the blue cheese heirloom tomatoes and chopped thick cut bacon. Again you can't go wrong with the bacon! Had a dinner meeting here and I will definitely want to come back. I definitely want to try the seafood tower.

Yelp
What an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish! Every detail was perfection--presentation, service, ambiance--truly top tier. The caviar cones are an absolute must-have; I'll be dreaming about them forever. And the chicken-fried lobster tails? Pure creative genius! Our server Eberee (spelling*) treated us like queens. His knowledge of the menu and spot-on recommendations made the night even better. We ordered the special A5 Wagyu tomahawk butcher's cut, and it was nothing short of phenomenal--melt-in-your-mouth delicious. For sides, we enjoyed the au gratin potatoes, crab & shrimp mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and Brussels sprouts. We'll definitely be back to try the creamed corn since we heard it's a fan favorite. The martinis were also perfect! To finish the night, we indulged in the warm vanilla cake and the beignet tower--the perfect sweet ending. A huge thank you to manager Anthony and the entire Oceans 48 team for the incredible hospitality and the special treats in honor of my celebration with the ladies during our girls' night out. It was unforgettable. We'll be making this a quarterly girls' night tradition--and Oceans 48 is officially our preferred spot!

Yelp
Finally able to try this place so I came for my birthday. Beautiful restaurant but ask to sit in a pretty area because we were all the way in the back order of a room with really no view. The service is top notch! The food was really good but it's definitely on the pricier side for sure!! So, if you can afford it, go. Otherwise, it'll only be once in awhile for sure. The rolls are delicious and comes out warm. I don't usually eat bread but these are a must. I got the peppered tuna(62) which was really good and I liked the sauces it comes with. The roasted cauliflower (21) was also really good. Friends got the lobster(110) which is obviously delicious and the crab& shrimp mac& cheese(52) was really good. They do give you a birthday treat which was nice and I opted for the key lime pie which did not disappoint. Thank you so making my birthday such a treat!

Yelp
The service is so great here. It really makes the dining experience special. Parking is plentiful. Food is delicious, even though I keep forgetting to take entree photos. I think it's the drink and amazing bread that distract me... aaahhhh bliss)

Yelp
My first impression of Ocean 48 was good. The ambiance is gorgeous and you can tell it's a locals spot. They have a massive menu and a little of everything depending on your diet. We had a party of 6 and ordered pretty much one of everything. The food was tasty, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I was a little disappointed because my lobster mac and cheese never came but we also weren't charged so it was never submitted. While the hosts were kind, our waiter was actually somewhat snarky. We could tell he was annoyed there was a large party in his section and tried to get us to order the most expensive items for an easy up-charge. He only checked in once and we had to flag him down to pay the bill. The valet guys are amazing and even ran to our car to get my coat. Overall I would return.

Yelp
Elegant and mystical vibe. Fantastic place for a romantic dinner with a special someone or if you're looking to wine and dine some family members and/or close friends that may be visiting from out of state. The seating is arranged around a center pool, lit pool, which reflects gentle water ripples throughout the room. Sooooo dreamy. The food was also fantastic. And the presentation of each dish was even more impressive especially the bone marrow. Here's what we tried. 1. Colossal roasted bone marrow: MUST order!!!!! To be honest it's not much bone marrow (maybe 4-6 pieces at most) but the show is worth the order. Seasoned with black truffle aioli and three cheese toast. 2. Superfood salad: fantastic salad. Waiter actually split our dishes into two plates as he noticed we were sharing everything (very thoughtful!). Base was baby lettuce with mixed berries (blueberries and blackberries-my fav), creamy goat cheese, Sriracha, sunflower seeds topped with champagne fig dressing ...yummy. Must order. 3. Wild caught Hokkaido Island sea scallops: you get six jumbo sized scallops. Perfectly cooked and juicy with light flavoring. 4. Several choices for craveable sides: we chose the shell + cheese (Mac n cheese with shell pasta) and sautéed wild mushrooms (lightly seasoned with parsley and thyme). Both sides were phenomenal especially the mushrooms. Please get the mushrooms. Oh yes they also serve Parker house rolls which were delicious. Overall very good food. Would love to come back and try a few additional dishes. Service also very good.

Yelp
What do you get when you cross fried chicken with Maine lobster tails? Quite possibly one of the best seafood dinners you'll remember for a long time. Oceans 48 features unique surf and turf creations along with a most sumptuous, elegant vibe, as evidenced by its raw bar display and poolside centerpiece in their dining room that greets you upon entering the space. The restaurant is located in Fashion Island with plenty of parking, although valet is also available for $10. We started off with the Chicken Fried Maine Lobster Tails which is exactly how it's described. Crispy fried breading, reminiscent of your favorite Southern fried chicken, surrounding succulent lobster tail, what more could you ask for? The Torched Scallops with Caviar Crudo is also an amazing, with an explosion of delicious umami flavors. For our main, we got the 22 oz. bone-in rib eye which was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and served on a hot plate. Fun fact, the owners of Ocean 48 are the original owners of Mastro's, so you can expect to find the similar level of quality that you might remember in the past (not talking about these days, but that's a story for another day.) Alongside that we ordered the Corn Creme Brûlée and Boursin Cheese Whipped Potatoes, both of which made excellent accompaniments. Our servers were lovely and gave impeccable service with their attentiveness and personable table side manners. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish and would certainly return to try more of their unique menu offerings sometime.

Yelp
if i could give 20 stars, i totally would! made rez via opentable after my girl, laurel recommended this place for steaks. i prefer to have birds, chicken or turkey lol or certain seafood. i dont have any red meat or pork..rarely .. it was my s/o's birthday, so treating him to ocean 48! this place is so magnificent!!!! we were treated with so much respect and like royalty! everyone was so professional! i requested to be seated in the pool room, which was granted :D a staff member had called me the morning of to grab the name of the birthday boy! once we were seated, they had left a hb card for him! we got fresh flaky biscuits for the table we ordered: crispy shrimp deviled eggs rhode island calamari+ shrimp caesar salad *no egg filet mignon + black truffle sauteed maine lobster roasted brussels sprouts chef hugo's au gratin potatoes creamed spinach + artichoke for dessert: peanut butter pie OMG!! their crinkles cookies are also soo delish! everything was sooo delicious! overall it was such a wonderful experience! highly recommend it! gorgeous restaurant with multiple dining spaces.. i absolutely love their open show kitchen! service was phenomenal, our server, tiffany (ik i am spelling it incorrectly) was so attentive! the manager and other staff members kept coming to our table to ensure everything was going well. ocean 48 is a total vibe. would def come back here to try out their seafood plates. i even got a call the next day to follow up on my experience . whhhaattt??? 1000/10! side note: there is a dress code, be presentable. parking: valet ; ocean 48 is located in fashion island, closest to macys. no issues with parking.

Yelp
made a reservation online & dined here on thanksgiving with my fiance. we had an amazing experience! Zander was our server and he was awesome, super attentive and gave us great recommendations for food and wine to start we ordered the calamari & shrimp and a dozen oysters + a few glasses of wine and ofc the free bread the free bread is SO GOOD?? like idk what it reminds me of but it's like a croissant/biscuit hybrid?? absolutely fantastic, we had to stop ourselves from over indulging.. calamari and shrimp were great, lots of flavor on the batter; almost tastes like fried chicken xD the dozen oysters were so beautiful, i devoured those babies so fast especially with all the sexy fixins they provided for our entrees, i got the wood roasted shellfish tower and my fiance got the 45 day dry aged ribeye + mac n cheese, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes the wood roasted shellfish tower wasn't anything like what i expected. it wasn't a seafood tower on ice like other places, it was a bunch of different shellfish cooked in a buttery tomato sauce served with crispy bread. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND SO DELICIOUS. every single piece of shellfish was so juicy and yummy the dry aged rib eye was soooo good too, so juicy and tender. they even cut it for us which made it so much easier to enjoy. all the sides were super tasty too, came out piping hot so we burnt our mouths a bit but so worth highly highly recommend Ocean 48 to anyone who wants high quality service & food. seriously one of the best dining experiences i've had in a while, and even more so because they gave us free dessert which was the perfect sweet ending

Yelp
You thought you liked Steak 48?! Well I personally think Ocean 48 is a step up! Hands down, the best branzino I've had at a restaurant and that's not easy for me to say. A beautifully done restaurant with a beautiful bar and an indoor pool feature. But let's talk food! I think we attempted to order the whole menu and NOTHING disappointed! So, recommendations include: to start, a dozen raw oysters, half dozen oysters Rockefeller, chicken fried lobster tails (interestingly good), calamari, crispy shrimp, crispy shrimp deviled eggs. Entrees: filet mignon, bone-in ribeyes, bone-in KC strip, branzinos. Sides: king crab mac and cheese, corn creme brûlée, asparagus, roasted Brussels sprouts, and of course the house skillet bread for both an appetizer and side. For dessert, my favorite, the triple chocolate bombé plus the beignet tower. Everything was delicious, and I certainly feel like I missed a couple of dishes we ordered, but my personal highlights were the branzino, asparagus, crab mac, and triple bombé. Drinks were fun! Cocktails, mocktails, and alcohol on the "rocks". Service was excellent. Tiffany was incredibly patient and accommodating! Would easily return as Ocean 48 and Steak 48 carry the reputation of the chain restaurant very well.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place. And the food is amazing, especially seafood and steaks. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I love that they are able to accommodate large groups of people. Highly recommend making reservations. We went on a Tuesday and it was so busy.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant in Newport Beach at Fashion Island. The food is good but prices are higher than normal for a steak and seafood place in Orange County. Corkage alone is $80 per. They are a bit pretentious for my taste. You can't just walk in and sit at the bar; you have to get permission. There is a smaller bar in the back that is said to be exclusive but we were able to sit there the second time we went because the front bar was packed. Its food and selections are on par with Mastro's in Costa Mesa and Newport Coast so I'll just go there instead and save a little money. BUT, it is a beautiful place! They have valet parking but you can also park in the mall parking lot.

Yelp
Had the best experience! Nicole was fantastic! All the good that we ordered was fantastic! Our personals favorites were the roasted bone marrow, which was the biggest I've ever seen and so full of flavor! The Hamachi Crudo was phenomenal. The side dishes were the star of the show. We had such a hard time deciding which ones to get and nicole helped us decide. We were so happy with everything and left with a lot of food to take home between the two of us couldn't have had a better night. Thank you so much to everyone!

Yelp
The service was great! The shrimp and calamari appetizer was delicious however, I didn't care for the unseasoned steak or the doughy bread. Nice first experience, I would probably comeback to try something else.

Yelp
We had an outstanding time at Ocean 48! Second time here and it was as good as the first. It's a great looking space and a completely cool vibe. Service, from Tiffany, was stellar! Cocktails were great, they have an over-the-top wine list, and food is just perfect! Prepared exactly as requested, we devoured everything! The class of Newport Beach, I recommend highly!

Yelp
Pretty speechless at how fantastic the experience & food was at this restaurant. It's rare we go out to such fancy places, but Oceans 48 has become a new favorite. Robert was our server & he did a phenomenal job. He was personable, friendly, & professional. As someone who's worked in the food industry, having good service is a big deal to me & definitely leave a mark with my experience at a restaurant . Not only was Robert great, but all of the other servers and employees there were amazing as well. Anytime you pass an employee they would stop and welcome you. There was even someone to open the door for you to go into the restroom! We went for my husband's birthday, and the employees made it a point to recognize the celebration multiple times throughout the evening, as well as giving him a signed birthday card. With our entrees the served the food on very hot plates to keep our food nice & hot which was a great touch. I got the 8 ounce filet mignon, and that was quite tasty. We shared the lobster tails and the crispy shrimp as appetizers, highly recommend both. For our sides with our entrées , we got the sweet creamed corn (10/10), the shells and cheese (10/10), and the brussels sprouts (5/10). I've never been a big fan of mac & cheese at a restaurant- but that was by far the best mac & cheese I've probably ever had. The Loulou's cookies and cream gelato cake was to die for. Would highly recommend this restaurant & definitely will be returning.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my birthday and I have been wanting to come here because they are known for seafood and a pool inside one of the dinning rooms. But that room has limited tables so hard to get seated there. Started off with their buttery croissant like flakey texture then got out appetizers. We ordered the top two appetizers, fried lobster tail and the lobster scallops with caviar and both were delicious. We ordered the steak and lobster Mac n cheese and those were good and ended with a delicious and warm red reliever bread pudding. I'm usually not a big fan of bread pudding but this was delicious. Definitely a great fancy dinner spot for a nice date or celebration.

Yelp
High end experience, greater than Mastro's. The food, service, and ambiance are all top notch. The Dungeness Crab Cocktail was great. Convenient little de-shelled pieces with a variety of dipping sauces. The Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs were pretty good. The Prime Steakhouse Meatballs were good. The fries were good. The complimentary bread was fine but you should ask for a side of butter. The Stone Fruit Martini was great. The bottle of Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc was great. The coffee is great (and quick to arrive). The side dishes... Shells and Cheese was my favorite. Sauteed Wild Mushrooms were good. Corn Creme Brulee was good but a bit too sweet, maybe next time try the sauteed sweet corn. Creamed Spinach and Artichoke was good but I didn't care for the smoked garlic flavor in it. Next time we'd like to try the Au Gratin Potatoes. The Petite Filet Mignon was excellent, cooked a perfect medium rare. It was enough for the two of us to share because we got so many side dishes. We didn't even experiment with any of the Enhancements options for the steak. It didn't need it. Another time we tried the off menu Wagyu New York Steak. It was wonderfully tender Wagyu. They also have an off menu ribeye cap that we might try next time. If it's your birthday you get to choose any dessert you want. The donut holes were good and come with caramel dipping sauce. The Lou Lou's Homemade Cookies and Cream Gelato Cake was good. Next time we'll try some of their other desserts.

Yelp
Bravo for the food and service. They gave me a card for my birthday and tasty dessert on the house, everyone that came to serve us said Happy birthday to me. Even the guest was sweet. This is a place if you want amazing service and flavorful dishes.

Yelp
Filet mignon 4/5 - this was cooked well. I like the crispiness of the outer part of the steak. Very tender in the center. Mash potatoes were so good! I really enjoyed it. Nothing special with the Brussels sprouts. I also tried the fish but it was a bit dry so that was disappointing as this is a seafood restaurant We came for a wedding reception here and the staff were all very friendly. I would come back.

Yelp
I gave Ocean 48 a second chance after a rocky first visit, and im glad i did, the bar totally redeemed the place. Started with a seaside margarita that tasted like a vacation, salty and refreshing. Followed it with the spicy margarita, which had the perfect kick without being overdone, then the blueberry lemon sour mocktail, which was the right balance of sweet, tart and smooth. All three were spot on, credit to the bartender. Food wise, i went with the prime steakhouse meatballs and the blistered shishito peppers. The meatballs weren't my thing, im not i to cheese stuffed in the middle, but they were cooked well. The peppers, though, were addicting, smoky, blistered just right, and sprinkled with a lemon sauce. The bar itself is gorgeous, fun vibe, beautifully decorated and perfect for watching football without feeling cramped into a sports bar. Service across the board was top notch, promt, welcoming and easy to deal with. Ocean 48 impressed me this time.

Yelp
Took my bestie and her lil sis out here for her birthday and we were all excited to check this place out. Beautiful, elegant and exactly how you'd imagine a high end steakhouse. I arrived earlier with a few cupcakes and I did not know their BYOD protocol. Big mistake people, don't bring desserts in because they charge a serving fee (kinda like a corkage fee) for EACH person something like $14 pp. I was shocked when the host asked me if he could leave it in the fridge which I thought was kind at first. And as he took the box from my hands, he said there's a fee. I said wait, they were cupcakes. He said doesn't matter, any outside desserts are charged a fee. So I didn't have the best first impression. However, they did leave a birthday card for my friend on the table and I thought that was so sweet and a nice touch. They definitely made up for it with the food. I didn't want that to ruin the mood so my bestie arrived shortly after that and we really enjoyed the top-notch delicious food! Our waiter was great! He was so attentive and quick to serve us. We ordered the bone in rib eye - chopped up to share, mac and cheese, baked oysters and Spanish octopus. Every bite of those dishes were incredible. Def recommend for a nice steak dinner. Oh so, the chef came out to greet us and ask us how we enjoyed our food. Super nice guy. He said he's bringing dessert out on the house for the birthday girl and we were so happy! After we ate the dessert, I asked for the bill and told them to please give me my cupcakes back to take home hehe. Their desserts were WAYYY better than what I had waiting inside the box.

Yelp
I love coming to this place -- it's always worth every penny! My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate my birthday, and as always, the service was amazing. I forgot our server's name, but she was so patient, kind, and made great recommendations. Even other staff members stopped by our table to chat, which we really appreciated, especially knowing how busy the restaurant was. The space itself is beautiful and spacious, giving off a classy, timeless vibe. We started with oysters, which were fresh and tasty, but the house bread will forever be my favorite -- so warm and fluffy! The yellowtail crudo had a refreshing citrusy finish, and the crispy shallots added the perfect texture. You have to get the king crab + shell and cheese while enjoying their NY strip -- both were incredible. My personal favorite, though, was the Chilean seabass -- so delicate and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we ordered the beignets and the coconut cream pie, which came out beautifully presented. The staff even comped our desserts since they noticed we had been waiting a little while, which just goes to show how thoughtful and attentive they are. For drinks, I had a dirty martini with blue cheese olives (so good!) and we brought our own wine, which they happily opened and served. Overall, such a great spot -- I'd definitely recommend making reservations whether you're celebrating something special or just looking for a nice dinner out.

Yelp
My dad requested we go to Ocean 48 for Father's Day and his birthday this year so we obliged. I booked a reservation for 7 people via OpenTable and received multiple reminders about the dress code, so I made sure everyone was dressed in our Sunday best. They had extended hours for Father's Day, which was a great since they're usually only open in the evenings. We booked the first seating at noon. Parking is easy to find around Fashion Island. The nearest free parking is by Red O and just a short walk over. If you prefer to valet, you can pull right up in front of Ocean 48. The valet attendants were incredibly kind and helpful especially with my elderly grandfather, assisting him in and out of the vehicle. Overall, it was exciting to dine at Ocean 48. One of the newer hotspots in Fashion Island. We were seated in the pool room at a round table tucked into a little nook, which felt special and more private. The ambience here is elevated and each room has a different feeling to it. We ordered several dishes, mostly appetizers, steak and sides to share (everything is à la carte). My favorites were complimentary bread, the shells + cheese, and the Superfood salad. The steak was fine. Cocktails were tasty, though pricey at $20+ each. A small issue came up with our leftovers after we got home, so I emailed the restaurant. The manager, Anthony, called me shortly after. He was kind, apologetic, and open to feedback which I really appreciated. I returned more recently with just my mom for drinks and appetizers. We reserved a high-top in the bar area, which unfortunately was placed in a high-traffic aisle. I had read that guests weren't supposed to stand around the bar unless seated, but a large group was congregating there anyway, making the space feel very cramped. It was so tight we could clearly hear their entire conversation, and I started to worry about safety as staff had to squeeze past them carrying hot plates. Eventually, a manager stepped in and politely guided them to their actual table. I later shared this feedback with Ocean 48 as well. My main critique is the inconsistency between how the restaurant is marketed and what's enforced. They position themselves as upscale, but I noticed many guests wearing printed t-shirts, shorts, hats, and athleisure, despite the dress code policy. For the pricing and branding, I expected more consistent standards not just in service, but in guest experience and overall polish. The food is good, but nothing really stands out to me though that may be my bias as seafood & steakhouses aren't my thing. I will say all the people who work here seem to care about giving an experience for their customers. That said, we had a lovely Father's Day, and my dad and grandpa enjoyed it most, which is what mattered. I do think Ocean 48 has potential, but at this price point, I want to walk away feeling impressed not questioning whether it was worth it.

Yelp
Fantastic way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Beautiful restaurant and impeccable service. Everything we ate was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. Our favorites were the lobster appetizer and the dessert for our anniversary was delightful.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I love their filet mignon as well as the seabass for the main courses. Their shells n cheese is so so delicious for any mac and cheese lover. We tried it with and without the crab and both were fabulous. The one with crab has nice big chunks too! We got their bone marrow and it was fantastic with the crostini bread it comes with--I'm not even a huge bone marrow fan! I wasn't a huge fan of their Brussels sprouts but their other veggies were delicious as well. The bread rolls they bring out are some of the best bread I've had at a restaurant! They bring them freshly baked and warm. Their vanilla cake dessert is also delicious. The service and ambiance were fabulous.

Yelp
My husband & I had reservations to celebrate our 13th year anniversary! Parking is very easy to find around Fashion Island. The nearest free parking is by Red O Restaurant & and just a short walk over. You can also choose to use the valet service for $10 if you prefer. We arrived & checked-in 15 minutes early & were seated immediately. We had a special seating request & that was fulfilled with no difficulties. We were seated in the pool room which felt more special & private. The restaurant & the pool room was beautiful & elegant. Upon seating, our waiter, Alex, introduced himself. He was attentive, & knowledgeable. He made wonderful recommendations on what we should order for being our first time. Alex & the staff members made us feel genuinely welcomed & very comfortable. We are very appreciative of that. We were brought complimentary bread which was beyond delicious. The bread itself was warm & flaky. Alex began to explain the appetizers, the entrees & started giving us recommendations from the menu. For appetizers, we started off with the sauteed wild mushrooms & the crispy shrimp deviled eggs. Both sides were fantastic, & the presentation made it 100 times better. Moving onto our main course, we took Alex's recommendations. My husband ordered the 45-day dry aged bone-in ribeye & I had ordered the Mediterranean Branzino. Both were remarkable entrees that were nice & flavorful. Alex came back & reminded us to leave room for dessert. He asked us what kind of dessert we would like. My husband & I had looked over the menu & chose the Red Velvet Bread Pudding which was rich & amazing. The bread pudding had bits of white chocolate chips with vanilla gelato ice-cream on top of the cake. It was really enjoyable. To make this even a night to remember, Alex & the staff came back with two glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. He also had brought us brownie crinkle cookies which were also delicious. I would like to thank all of the staff & chefs that made this such a beautiful dining experience. You all did such a phenomenal job in providing amazing service & being so accommodating.

Yelp

Yelp
There is a reason that Ocean 48 is our favorite restaurant. They continually knock it out of the park with every aspect from the atmosphere that is chic and sophisticated to their food which is innovative, elevated and delicious to the service which is indulgent and gracious. We came for a date night last night while the kids had a babysitter. We dined again with Jason who recognized us which was fun! He is probably the best server we have had. We did need to change tables when we were first sat next to a large party with 3 kids who were not staying seated or quiet- as parents, when we are on a date night we prefer to have some quiet and romantic date time. It worked out because they did move us and then we got to have Jason as our server. I will try to remember next time when I make a reservation to put the request for the larger tables for two and quieter area. We tried two new things that Jason recommended and we were impressed with them. The branzino might have stolen the show it was so soft and flaky with the right amount of lemon sauce. The corn crème brûlée was the perfect accompaniment for the fish dishes - sweet yet savory. I've never had anything like it but I see why it is one of their best sellers. Can't wait to return again.

Yelp
Drinks included espresso martini, old fashioned, regular martini, and pomegranate martini. Everyone was happy with their drinks. Later had a glass of the Sancerre to go with the fish, which I loved. Food this time was a mix of the usual orders and some items for the first time. The cesar salad was probably a 2 out of 5 unfortunately. The lettuce wasn't fresh and there was nothing special about it. Crispy shrimp good as always. Roasted cauliflower was a first try and I liked it but the dressing underneath was a little too heavy on the cream, could have been lighter, or I might ask for the sauce on the side next time. Dry aged bone in ribeye is always a great option to share when sliced and table was happy. The branzino was great to share too, the photo shows a split portion. Would repeat the Branzino, but again the sauce was a little too heavy for my liking. Fish was juicy and fluffy. They kindly brought us a desert of our choice on the house for my brother's birthday. We got the warm caramel butter cake which is always great. Vibes were great for a Thursday night and our server, Robert, took good care of us.

Yelp
I went here for my birthday celebration with my boyfriend and it was one of the prettiest and unique restaurants I've ever been to! They are very accommodating and seated us at the poolside upon request when I made the reservation. Poolside seating is the way to go. We had to get the Dungeness crab cocktail and it was amazing! Portion was pretty good for two people. We also got the torched scallops with caviar and it was the perfect amount of caviar, although the sauce that came with it was quite strong. For our entrees, we got the salmon and Chilean sea bass. Definitely preferred the Chilean sea bass more, but the salmon was still cooked perfectly. Side of mushrooms was also delicious! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Oceans 48 is an experience. The restaurant is expansive, ornate, and beautiful, spanning multiple rooms and spaces all situated around an enormous glass enclosed kitchen complete with a seafood and gelato display. Adding to the ambiance is how different each room feels, one of the dining rooms has a pool in the center, another has a second bar, another is almost wholly consumed by the large main bar, another feels like it could be a private room. The different spaces are each enticing in their own way. The bathrooms are even a sight to see, with electronic toilets that greet you when entering, warm the seat, and have an automatic bidet. The service is tremendous and on par with Michelin restaurants. Our waitress was tremendous, being mindful of my allergies, celebrating my birthday (by comp'ing my dessert), and being attentive the whole night. Additionally, the restaurant called me the day after to thank me for dining there which I find pretty rare. Drinks were excellent. The golden manhattan was very good, and the recommended wines were delicious too. They also had delicious non-alcoholic drinks for my wife, who is pregnant. Food was modern steakhouse fare, but respectfully over the top. No steaks covered in gold, served by secret service (like Papi Steak), but a colossal bone marrow with flambé is available (and scrumptious!). The house rolls were delicious and addicting. The sides (we had mushrooms, mac and cheese, and potato au gratin). I loved the mushrooms and potatoes, and I appreciate they still prepare au gratin, as some other steakhouses are stopping (due to prep time). The steaks are diverse and delicious. I appreciate that they are served slightly under so that the heat of the plate continues to cook them. All in, Oceans is a scene, a vibe, an experience, and just an overall great restaurant. The prices are as high as any fine steakhouse, so expect 150-250pp. Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Drink: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Consistency: N/A

Yelp
I had an absolutely amazing experience at Ocean 48 for a private dinner experience. Right from the entrance, you're greeted by hospitable staff members who show you to your reservation (they even guide you to the bathrooms!). There is ample seating inside the restaurant for private dinners as well as events. There is also plenty of parking as part of fashion island but they also have valet parking available. The staff were quick to get my order, which was the 3 course New York strip steak dinner. It began with some buttery and flaky bread, definitely rich but absolutely delicious. The calamari were fresh and succulent, and the Caesar salad was amazing (the croutons were delicious!). The New York strip was thick and cooked perfectly, and I love how it comes on a hot plate with the potatoes and sautéed broccoli. The hazelnut gelato was also decent. Overall, this is a great location for a nice dinner or date night!

Yelp
Having dined at Steak 48 BH on numerous occasions I was dying to finally try its sister restaurant Ocean 48. Such a great dining experience. The "48" leadership certainly knows how to train their staff. Both venues offer excellent service and you could not ask for a better dining experience. Although Ocean 48 has a more extensive seafood leaning menu, I found that many of the food offerings were just about identical to these offered at the sister restaurant Steak 48. Me being a bit of a creature of habit I tend to like to order many of my preferred dishes. In this case the Pork Chops, which was very well prepared, again full of flavor and so so delectable it literally melted in my mouth. Now I am not certain if this is a change, but I will say that the cuts were smaller and they were not served on the 500 degree hot plate as was the case in the past. Mother in law tried the Arctic Char. So well prepared with the right mix of basil and spices and she could not believe the portion. Pleasant unexpected bonus The sides were of course excellent. Don't know what they did with the mushrooms this evening , but they were one of the best I ever had. I'm hoping this wasn't a one off since as a side, mushrooms are top on my list. Now a pet peeve I often have with steak house's is that Mac and Cheese are too often a miss. Not here though, as everyone in our party agreed that the shells were "oh so good" Chicken Fried Lobster Tails .. . Where have they been all my life and why have I never tried or even thought of this divinely inspired dish. My Word, so good. So let me get this straight, you offer me Crispy Shrimp Deviled eggs and Soft buttery Bread basket, follow that with those freaking Fried lobster tails to start. Fully knowing that those are but a glorious foretaste of what can be expected? Couple that with exceptional service, beautiful venue and not to mention an extensive drink menu which I do not have the time to review here. Upon my return, which I plan to do soon I will provide an updated breakdown. But for now without a doubt Ocean 48 deserves 5 + stars And finally a well deserved shout out to our wonderful server. Rachel, I loved her energy, professionalism and attentiveness. She was a pleasant exception, as her suggestions were on point and she took the time to listen and answer any questions, with a smile and helpful demeanor, never rushing us. Always within eyesight and ready to assist. For me, the server is the key to a good experience part of the trinity of Food, Ambiance and service. Ocean 48 Newport provides all 3

Yelp
Great customer service and the food is amazing. I would highly recommend this place although it seems like where you would celebrate something not just every day.

Yelp
The 4-Stars Goes To Customer Service Overall!!!! My Party & I Were Escorted To A Reserved Private Room Towards The Back Of The Restaurant. The Hostess & Servers Were Wonderful From Beginning To End!!!! Very Impressed Of The Layout Style Of The Restaurant. I Went To Look For The Restroom & Gave Myself A Quick Tour. Each Area/Room That Was Sectioned Off - Had A Full Bar!

Yelp
Ok service but great dinner. It's a cute ambiance and overall a nice spot with plenty of parking. Shrimp was tasty and steak was definitely cooked to liking.

Yelp
Came this restaurant for bday celebration. Surprisingly it's been more than one year since they opened. I like the new ambiance and service here! We had Celeste and Suzy for our table tonight! They both are so sweet and attentive.. made great recommendations so we enjoyed everything we ordered. At the end, Celeste even let me pick my bday dessert. she also surprised us the brownies cookies to go with our gelato, it made my bday dinner so special.. I will bring my girls here again soon!!

Yelp
Alright so this place is...... fancy love the outside to the inside, i also go lost because that's how this place is there's different sections and so yea be careful where you're walking lol The staff? Amazing! Everyone is so polite and sweet. They got the hospitality DOWN! They make sure you don't lift a finger and i would think it's priced in because yea it's not cheap nor should it be because the food quality is great! That bread they offer is so good! Definitely come for a special occasion at least once!

Yelp
Went here for dinner last night. Our server Al was great- top notch! The food was good but wasn't like " OMG this is all worth over $400 kind of food". Wasn't wowed but it tasted good. Drinks were good too, but nothing that stood out. They have a huge selection of wines, whiskeys, mescals and tequilas and more. The fellow diners- A lot of rich snobby people that want to show off their wealth and don't treat the staff as kindly a respectfully as they should. I would NOT come back as I can get the same food at a fraction of the price elsewhere with better vibes. And being seen for the brand of clothes I'm wearing and how I'm looking regarding money isn't the point when dining out for me. Im certainly not interested when I'm walking to the bathroom for customers to look me up and down- especially the women with scary contorted plastic surgeried faces- to figure out where I fit in the levels of class in this society. It's Just weird- but if that's you, this is your place to come and feel at home. Al and team- thanks for the chats and lovely service. Keep being awesome!

Yelp
I loved my 22 ounce bone in rib eye. It was cooked perfectly. The biscuits they serve are so good. The service was absolutely excellent. Our waiter was kind and thoughtful. Some staff even brought over some strawberries and oranges from the bar for my toddler. She loves fruit. The restaurant itself is beautiful. I love the glass window that shows you the kitchen; it's clean and the staff was smiling and waving at my baby. It's a very dark and sophisticated vibe perfect for a date night. We ordered the corn brulee which was like a dessert, the cauliflower and mushrooms were delicious. My husband really enjoyed his ahi tuna. It was my aunts birthday and we had a taste of her red velvet banana pudding: it was heavenly. I actually feel like i should've left a bigger tip. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Yes it's very expensive but it's a must try. Service is amazing with lavender towels and the kindest workers. We just sat right at the bar, no reservation and the meal was insanely good. We got one shrimp cocktail, spicy margarita, garden salad, ribeye wagyu. SO INSANELY GOOD

Yelp
Super fancy and definitely was an experience unlike any other steakhouse I have been to, as I am not familiar with any of the dining etiquette or the environment of dining in an upscale place. However, everything from the front door, to the hosts, to the open kitchen, to the service and dining experience made me see the uniqueness and the level of luxury a restaurant may offer. We had a couple old fashions based on recommendations of the server (although the cocktail menu was slightly overwhelming). The server also provided a medley of options and seasonal offerings, as well as taking the time to answer questions I had regarding some of the entrees and cocktails. The complimentary butter rolls were so good we opted to request for a takeout box to bring it home. The dry aged steak was a solid medium rare which paired perfectly with the hot searing plates to cook it through just a smidge more. The hanging bacon were thick cut and hearty and made for a great appetizer. The fried chicken lobster did not have too much batter but enough to provide a crispy shell with delicious seasoning. Pro-tip: We did not realize that the desserts are already on display behind the glass of the open kitchen, but it helps to see the size since the desserts are not dainty. We accidentally ordered two dessert options and had to scarf down the cookie and cream gelato Lou Lou cake since it would melt if we brought it to go. The peanut butter pie was good even as a takeout but honestly each dessert could probably feed 2-4 people at the end of a meal. Also, the paper towels used in the bathroom felt more like linen than paper, which is really an upscale option I may never get used to. Would easily return if feeling fancy or wanting to provide someone with a truly luxurious experience.

Yelp
I got food poisoning from their seafood- was also admitted into the er but because I'm the only one they refused to do anything about it. Very disappointed in such a high quality restaurant. Everything else was great, just disappointed that they couldn't even refund the dish that made me sick, or offer any type of compensation.

Yelp
There's something for everyone here. Whether it's date night, girls night out, company dinners, I've been here for just about every occasion. I'm usually critical of these boujie restaurants but this one gets a 5 star for the food and the service. The seafood is fresh, steak is tender and juicy and medium rare just how I like. And the complimentary bread is DIVINE! I wish they'd sell that so I can just get it to go. The crowd is questionable though- full of IG influencers, wannabe models, and unnaturally tanned Botox people trying to get the perfect photo. The room with the mini pool is gorgeous if you can get a seat there. It's part of Fashion Island where the old Fig and Olive used to be. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
One of my absolute most favorite restaurants in all of OC. I had reservations for Father's day and I couldn't be more happy to come here. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. The décor and the open seafood show area was such a sight to see. The service was also very phenomenal. Our server Nate was attentive, knowledgeable, and very suggestive on what we should order for the table. He made us feel very comfortable and made us feel so taken care of. I really appreciate that. We ordered a lot, and every single bit of it was amazing. We had a couple Espresso martini's to start off with and they were spot on. We ordered a dozen oysters, crispy shrimp, wagyu tartare off the menu bone marrow, and a couple steaks. I could talk so much more about what we ordered but it would be an entire essay, so I'll keep it sweet and short. The oysters were sweet and flavorful, wagyu tartare was buttery and rich, dinosaur size bone marrow was absolutely a must get. Crispy shrimp is crispy and the aioli sauce on it is spectacular. All of the steaks were all so flavorful. I highly recommend ordering the 45 day dry age Ribeye! Ocean 48 is one of my favorite steakhouse. I'm truly grateful for the experience and the amazing service here. Most definitely would come back and relive this amazing experience.

Yelp
One of My New Favorites in Orange County! I waited a bit to visit since they're a newer restaurant, and I'm so glad I finally did--this place is now one of my absolute favorites in OC! The restaurant itself is beautiful, and from the moment we pulled into the lot to the second we left, the service was flawless. Our server, Robert, was fantastic--attentive, knowledgeable, and very aware of my husband's food allergy. He offered thoughtful suggestions, which made us feel completely taken care of. We ordered quite a bit, and every single dish was spot on. We started with the shrimp--fresh and flavorful--followed by heirloom tomatoes with crab, which was a standout. The salads are generously portioned and perfect for sharing. For mains, we had the sea bass (incredible!) and the rib cap steak, which isn't even on the menu--highly recommend asking about it. Even the sides were excellent! This spot checks all the boxes: great food, top-notch service, and a stunning atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Finally made it to this place after having it on my list for way too long. Our server was sharp and genuinely knew the menu inside out. She made solid recommendations and was very sweet. We tried for a table by the pool, but unless you're a OC reality star or related to the GM, good luck. We got seated in the dining room instead. It worked, but let's just say the poolside envy was real. We ordered the steak that comes out on a 500 degree plate. The idea is great, the execution wasn't. It was supposed to be medium, came out medium well. Sent it back, and the second one showed up medium rare. Two tries, neither right. Luckily, Liz the manager stepped in, handled it with grace, and apologized profusely. The shishito peppers were the standout. Perfectly charred and seasoned. The cauliflower was fine but forgettable. Mashed potatoes were excellent. Creamy, flavorful, no notes. Drinks were balanced and well made. Dessert was solid too, with a rich chocolate center and a marshmallow element that was excellent. Overall, this place is great. The food has high points, especially the appetizers and drinks. Service was solid and handled the kitchen missteps with professionalism.

Yelp
Incredible whistlepig old fashioned and side car. Enjoyed the yellowtail hibachi, crème brûlée creamed corn, and mashed potatoes. Steak was incredibly cooked and the brown sugar crust was a delicious touch. The brussel sprouts could have used a touch of acidity. Atmosphere was incredible, a little loud to have a conversation with a larger party but the service was outstanding, David was incredible! Overall a delightful dinner.
