Google
When a place says they have fresh oysters in Central Texas, I am a little weary - and I always wait a couple days to leave a review to be sure they were really good. This is probably the best restaurant in Kyle! The menu is a bit confusing, somewhere between Thai, Cajun, and fresh seafood. Easy to get a good parking spot, there was no wait for a table (didn't call ahead or check in), the service was excellent. The food was fresh and delicious. Lots of flavors, big portions, and loads of veggies. Every table was laughing and having a good time, even the bar tender was engaging with people. A rare and delightful experience.

Satisfied 😎 We had great experience with delicious and tasty food. I was craving for crawfish and salted crab and shrimp papaya salad(Isan Style). And my friends had ordered their fried Salt and pepper shrimp and Salmon Salad. The waitress gave us the best service, the quality and the price were just right. We will definitely go back to support local business.

Google
🌟 Absolutely deserves five stars! We found this spot while shopping around the plaza, Google showed four stars, but we took a chance and were glad we did. I got the Pad Thai and it was as authentic as anything I had in Thailand, loaded with shrimp. My fiancé had the catfish po’ boy and it was impressively done. Generous portions, great flavors! 🙏 Please don’t change the prices or portions, everything felt just right. Menu could use a refresh (smaller text, lots of options, abit confusing) but our server was very lovely, and the host was welcoming. Full bar, lots of variety, and perfect for families with different tastes. We’ll definitely be back! Visited Saturday, July 26 around 4 pm. Yall go check it out!

I might go back to try again, but maybe not. I ate there an hour before closing on a Thursday night and started off with a half dozen oysters. Two of them were much smaller than the others but the worst thing was they were limp and felt soggy. The ice on the plate was half melted like it had been sitting around a while. Got a fried shrimp plate and should have noticed on the menu that it was not battered but fried in corn meal. Not what I wanted. If I do go back I'll try their Asian dishes. And their hush puppies were cut in half???

We went here for Valentine’s Day hoping for a chill experience since we knew all the local chains would be insanely busy. We were seated right away by Jaime who took amazing care of us throughout our visit. (We went early, the place did end up filling up but by the time we left there were still only a few people waiting.) We started off with some (HUGE) raw oysters which were absolutely delicious and so fresh. My partner got a fried seafood platter and I got a seafood stuffed flounder and everything was wonderful including the portion sizes. We took home the fried banana dessert with vanilla bean ice cream and that might be one of the best desserts I have ever had. We devoured it over our kitchen island immediately when we got home. WELL worth every penny spent. A couple standouts were the fact that they have a fully stocked bar, Jaime’s impeccable service, and their special “salsa” I can’t remember the name but anyone would be amiss not to ask for it. It was delicious on EVERYTHING, no spice to it at all at least in my opinion but just so tasty and fresh. 12/10 recommend and we will definitely be back to visit ASAP. Thank you all!

5 stars I finally made it to Ocean Blue Oyster Bar in Kyle with my 80-year-old dad, and it was so worth the wait! From start to finish, everything impressed us—especially the service and the food. We started with 6 raw oysters that were so fresh, sweet, and perfectly briny that we ordered 6 more on the spot. Trust me, use the house sauce—it’s a game-changer. We’re used to buying oysters straight from shrimpers in Palacios, so we know they're fresh, and these were top-tier. My dad had the lunch special: fried catfish, fries, hush puppies, and a cup of gumbo and rice. Huge portions—he couldn’t even finish it! I had shrimp spring rolls and a papaya salad. Everything tasted homemade and vibrant. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was the only thing I didn’t love, but the house sauce made up for it. The shrimp and crab papaya salad was the star—bold, funky, sweet-savory, and packed with that real Southeast Asian fermented seafood flavor. It was absolutely delicious and authentic. Best part? The bill was reasonable for the quality and portion size, it was an incredible deal. Highly recommend for anyone who loves fresh seafood, great service, and serious flavor. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Overall great place, prices are a little on the higher end but quality is worth it. Staff was friendly and informative of the food. Only complaint I would have is they use to many onions on the Shrimp Diablos hides the shrimp and give a underwhelming presentation (Still tasted great though). In photos are Shrimp Diablos, Popcorn Shrimp basket, Crawfish Etouffee (Dinner bowl portion), Drunken Sailor, and a To-go portion of Mango Sticky Rice.

We were seated with in a good amount of time the hostess was so polite and ended up being our waiter. We ordered the 2lb crawfish and 1 pound of shrimp as well as snow crab. The craw fish we could not eat it broke in to pieces and was mushy I literally had to just leave it, I stopped trying and it is not buttery at all. The Shrimp well it was so rubbery and the shell was impossible to peel to the point we were ripping it to shreds just to get the shell off. The only thing I was able to really eat was the snow crab. They definitely need more waiters, cause they looked so tired and run down. There is 💯 favoritism here with the owner and his "friends". I expressed everything wrong with the food and the only thing offered by the owner was a free fried banana desert or mango rice. The next table on our left even made a complaint about the shrimp it was see through and the texture wasn't great she even spoke with the Manager but the owner didn't say anything. We paid our bill it was $206 we took the loss. However to the Owner it's best to keep your business Church & State between " Friends" since everytime I would speak to our waiter your friend would interrupt as if he runs everything, very entitled. I can see why as the Owner ate with them and made sure they were okay rather than make sure his customers were good.

Yelp
Was hesitant to try the Kyle location after change in ownership, the Lamar spot definitely was lacking flavors but Kyle redeemed the taste buds today! Everything was flavorful and on point! Still the best lao style papaya salad in town! Padsee ew was wok-ee and flavorful, tender beef. They have a spacious bar to grab a drink. Definitely excited to come back for crawfish season!

Yelp
was recommended this place by a friend an was glad to finally try it! Not what I expected at all, they have a very nice fusion of menu items, from Thai to Cajun to bar fair. Really looking forward to going back to try more, but this time around we tried some of the recommendations from our waitress. Food was very good (I'd say "strong flavors" and a bit of a twist on what you'd expect from everything we tried), marg was a bit more on the tart side than sweet side, but the star of the show was the staff. They went above & beyond to make recommendations, take our order quickly, keep our drinks full & check in on us throughout the meal. Will be back to try more of their options next time.

Yelp
God was mediocre: seafood platter; shrimp fried rice; Service was underwhelming and detached or someone trying to hide a lack of familiarity with menu. Greatambiance

Yelp
Welcome to Kyle! Such an amazing addition to the area. The service was very warm and friendly! They did note their menu was going to be updated to be more easier to navigate through. Make sure to order your papaya salad mild cause oh it is spicyyy! The crawfish was amazing! The crawfish was so fresh and the shrimp was huge! The best seafood boil I have had in Kyle hands down! There was a bit of a wait for the seafood boil but...so worth it! So make sure you order some appetizers to hold you over. The oyster po boy was delicious! Their food has a Thai fusion so remember to take your pure Cajun hat off and just enjoy the delicious flavors! We enjoyed the mango sticky rice too! We will be back for the friendly service and nice ambiance. The food is so good! Make sure you come early cause it gets pretty crowded in the evening.

Yelp
They have good Thai cuisine I have tried before and it was delicious with the hint of spice. The seafood boils are the best would try during the summer or any season. The service is amazing they have nice service with their customers they are very welcoming. I would highly recommend to visit!!

Yelp
I was extremely satisfied, i don't say that often. The frog legs cooked to perfection as well as the oysters. Love kicking back watching the games can see tv no matter where you sit. The other food that was ordered just as good really my new spot.

Yelp
I came here for lunch and it was a great experience! I sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. His name was Jamie (xajme), and at first I hesitated to sit at the bar because I wanted to eat my meal in peace but Jamie gave an appropriate amount of small talk that made my experience great! I had 2 pounds of crawfish, the long horn stuffed catfish and the Asian pepper chicken wings along with a hurricane! First I was hesitant to get crawfish because I am very picky, but these crawfish were clean, juicy and big! They were mixed in with their garlic butter sauce and it was delicious! I do have to say it was a little bit too much for my liking, but It was still enjoyable. Their price per pound (March 2025) is at $11.99 a pound but they were worth it! The Long Horn stuffed catfish was full of flavor that I can't even describe, it was just super good and very worth trying out. The Asian pepper chicken wings had great flavor! It was salty, sweet and not too spicy. This wasn't the typical deep fried chicken wings but it is soaked in a sauce and it was delicious! If you like your wings crispy, this isn't for you, but if you're willing to give it a try, it's delicious! The hurricane cocktail was very pleasant and it was not too sweet but strong and it was a great touch to my meal! I've only tried these three things on the menu but I will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the menu! I think this is a great addition to Kyle Texas in the seafood restaurant!

Yelp
Ordered a dozen oysters on half shell along with the shrimp cocktail with a cup of crawfish étouffée, shrimp cocktail was good and had plenty of spice to match the flavor, oysters however were small (4 out of 12 were extremely small) normally when you get extremely small the Buisness will add a couple to offset this issue. Crawfish étouffée was not what I was looking for, my family on both sides (Mother & Father) came from Louisiana and I am an awesome cook, this sucked and was not worth spending money on. The atmosphere seems more like a bar, not a restaurant, music was loud and proud.

Yelp
We have heard about Ocean Blue since it first opened in our neighborhood, and was finally able to stop by. We went off-hours on a weekday so it was not crowded at all (which we preferred having a toddler). Jenny was our server and she was so lovely! She took great care of us, checking in on us and making sure everything was going well. Along with the excellent service, the food was fantastic. The stand out was the Papaya Seafood salad. It had all the flavors and freshness you'd expect from the dish. Lots of Umami flavor from the abundance of fish sauce. We also tried the Longhorn Stuffed Catfish from the Grill mates section of the menu. Also a large portion and was delicious. Fish was tender and juicy, and weaved the stuffing with Pico de Gallo, imitation crab, and bacon. We also did the Crawford Boil (1 lb.) which was flavorful, juicy, and a nice big serving. We'll definitely be going back regularly to support this local business!

Yelp
Food was good. Crawfish was a little small, maybe cause start of season. Oysters were great, bartender gave me a sauce to put on oysters that was amazing. Some kind of Thai sauce i think. Use it!!

Yelp
I was seated quickly. I've seen this place through two changes of ownership. The decor is beautiful. Two tables were seated after me and at least greeted by their server and received drinks before me. After the maitre de saw me just sitting, a man came up and said do ya know what ya want? So I gave my order, the gumbo came out quickly. It was just okay. I'm used to a bit more flavor and spice. The fish chunks were larger than I'm used to. I also ordered half dozen boiled shrimp and half dozen raw oyster combo. Oysters came out quickly and were great. Although I have never eaten oysters with a regular sized fork. That wasn't a big deal. When he set them down, he said your shrimp will be out in a moment. Later he came back and he said the kitchen said five more minutes on your shrimp. A little bit later, he came back to my table looking sheepish and said I know before that they said five minutes, but now they're saying seven minutes. When he finally brought my shrimp out, they were on a white oval plate with ice on top of them. The server said they were still hot so I put ice on them. I am glad that he did because the shrimp were to the point of being overcooked. The shells were extremely hard to get off and the shrimp had not been deveined. The only reason I might consider coming back here is for the oysters And that's only if I cannot find them too expensive. The server did take the gumbo off of my bill. I do have some grace because they are still in their soft opening phase and I did let him know about the shrimp being overcooked. But I have an aversion to eating shrimp poop that's clearly visible.

Yelp
Lunch around 1:00. Nice little crowd on Thursday. I had the lunch menu catfish, with fries, gumbo and hush puppies. Very good. Lightly breaded and fried medium, 3 nice size pieces. Wife had the shrimp in Thai soup with bean and other veggies. A little spicy, but good. Service was excellent. Quickly delivered. Price was reasonable. Definitely will come back again

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Ocean Blue today. Haley was excellent and very sweet! She did a wonderful job tending to us, the food was outstanding, and the ambiance had a very comfortable feel to it. I will definitely be back! Recommendations: *Calamari *Tom Kha Gai Soup *Longhorn Stuffed Catfish

Nicola J.

Yelp
Great service, prices and food. Huge raw oysters. The Tom Yum soup is overflowing with fish, shrimp and at least one mussel.

Yelp
Kassandra, Our server was truly exceptional! She was incredibly attentive to our needs, offering a warm and friendly service that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. She went above and beyond by expertly guiding us through the menu and ensuring our every request was met. The food is absolutely delicious. My husband is extremely pleased with the freshness of the oysters. Our family enjoys the crawfish, headless shrimp and snow crab with a medium spice. I will say, please save room for dessert, because the mango sticky rice is a must. We will be back!

Yelp
Service was horrible, we stood at front entry for 10 minutes, then the waitress says sit anywhere. The waitress didn't come to greet us at the table for 6 minutes. Food was not great at all. I'm very disappointed with our visit. I will never return.

Yelp
Our server Denise was absolutely incredible! She was fun, relatable, personable, and helped direct us to the dishes we would like best. We enjoyed the spring rolls, the garlic shrimp, and the Thai pompano. Absolutely delicious! Thanks to the Chef too who cooked. We will be back to see Denise again and look forward to her company and the amazing dishes at the restaurant.

Yelp
OB (Ocean Blue) is a favorite of me & my wife. My wife is a Professional Chef, teaches Culinary Arts @ Johnson High School in Buda. We LOVE OB! Great Seafood, Great Thai! The Owner Quynh is focused on presenting Quality undone in a family friendly atmosphere. Highly Recommended! 5 Stars

Yelp
My pickleball people just had lunch at the new Ocean Blue Oyster Bar! FANTASTIC! Check this restaurant out! Don't let the first two restaurants (Louisiana Crawfish or Abby's) scar you off! They were terrible in every sense. If you have ever eaten at a Deckhands same tasty menu. Our server was Kai and Ace. They were PERFECT! Great service ! Great menu suggestions (Oyster Frontera...sooo good)! Give your friends and family a treat and dine at the new Ocean Blue restaurant! Ask for Kai or Ace!!
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Great new place, killer menu. Highly recommend the Longhorn Stuffed Catfish and the Coubion (catfish smothered in etoufee). Kai was our server, magic at knowing what we needed before we did!
google avatar

Ariel P.

Yelp
I do miss the crab place that used to be here but honestly this place does have decent crawfish. It's not Louisiana back yard on a hot summer day crawfish but it does kick the craving! I got mild with the sides and my husband got the stuffed cat fish. Both were good (the minced garlic is a bit over board to my liking) and the staff were very kind. We'll be returning soon to try out the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Fantastic menu legit gumbo and some of the best hush puppies in the area. Jaime, the manager/bartender was Fantastic. Friendly, made great suggestions and mixed a pretty mean bourbon and water. They really classed up the place. Highly recommend! Definitely going back!

Yelp
Been going to Ocean Blue Oyster since it opened. The first two times it was good and ever since the quality and portions has gone downhill. Last weekend my wife and I went to Ocean Blue Oyster to celebrate my birthday. I came in hungry, so I ordered a bowl of Gumbo, Boudin, Salt and Pepper Tempura Battered Squid, 1/2 order of La Frontera Oysters, and 1/2 order of their Raw Oysters. I really came in for the fresh oysters; more to follow. The boudin was alright. The squid was good, and the gumbo was great. Now the oyster orders. La Frontera Oysters were very salty, and I didn't taste there was any crab in their crab stuffing. The portion were four medium oysters and two small ones. Out of those two, one was no bigger than half of my thumb. All tasted salty due to the type of bacon they used. I thought that this would be the worst part of my meal, but I was wrong. When I received my order of raw oysters, I was shocked at what they tried to serve me. I've been a fisherman all my life and have lots of knowledge on how a fresh oyster looks like. Fresh oysters are supposed to look plump, juicy, and creamy in color. What I got served was flat, dry, and dark colored. The edge of the inner shell of the oyster had a green ring. That tells me that it has been out of the water for a long time and had lost most of its natural juiciness. Brought it to the attention of another server since most of my time there, my server was outside. I told her that I was not going to eat those oysters because they were past their prime for raw consumption. She brought it up to the attention of the manager and she didn't react to my issue. I was told that they were going to take it out of my bill like they were doing me a favor. No apology just asked if I wanted anything else. Before leaving, I spoke to the waiter that had actually assisted me with my concerns. I told her that I would never return to their restaurant again. I explained that in my last four visits they have messed up on my Oyster Poboy, Shrimp and Crawfish Boil, Salt and Pepper Tempura Battered Squid, and my Pad Thai orders. For being an Oyster bar, they leave the quality of their products go by the waist side. Very disappointed.

Charlotte V.

Yelp
Found the boudin to be a little greasy and had never had boudin on top of onions before but my husband thought it was very good. I was used to Louisiana boudin but this is possibly the difference between Louisiana and Thai inspirations. Husband had the Drunken Sailor, combination of seafood with jalapeños in sauce with rice on the side. He liked very much. I had the flounder coubion with crawfish etoufee on top and the Thai flavors were very good. Denise, our server, was excellent. She was very informative, personable and attentive.

Yelp
Great place ! The food was really good. The boudin is delicious and the shrimp pad tie is so so good ! Our server was great and the owner is very nice ! We had a great time and will definitely be back !

Yelp
Franklin was awesome. Food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Service was top notch, great experience. Thanks Franklin for a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Went out on a date here late Friday night and was blown alway by the experience. Our server Jenifer was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Even being an hour to close our food came out hot and fresh. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious ended up having 3 killer margaritas! We ended up having a small power outage during our visit, it only lasted about 10 minutes but everything was taken care of swiftly and smoothly after the power came back on and we were able to check out manger Quinn had a delightful chat with us making sure we had a great experience. Definitely looking forward to the next visit!

Yelp

Yelp
Ocean Blue!!! I've waited a long time for a good seafood restaurant to open in Kyle! I've already been 8 times! The menu is extensive, it will take you a pretty long time to look it over. Thank you! A loyal fan!!!

Aleah N.

Yelp
The food was amazing and not only that my server Kai was so incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and what to expect from each dish.

Yelp
2nd time eating at Ocean Blue. Food was great again. Service even better. Ask for Faith, she was an excellent waitress. Margaritas were very good also. We especially enjoyed the etouffee and salt and pepper shrimp.
