I visited this restaurant as part of a workplace-sponsored dinner. The ambiance was refined and quiet, contributing to an overall sophisticated atmosphere. We began with the calamari, and for my entrée I selected the lobster tail paired with a 10oz sirloin. The dish was accompanied by a lobster soup, which I found somewhat disappointing in flavor. However, both the lobster and the sirloin were exceptionally well prepared and enjoyable. For dessert, we were served crème brûlée, which was a standout—rich, well balanced, and very satisfying. While the establishment itself is elegant, the overall tone of the service and environment felt slightly pretentious, which may not appeal to all guests.

I recently celebrated my 30th birthday at Ocean Prime in Kansas City, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. From the moment I walked through the door, the service and atmosphere were absolutely outstanding. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, making me feel celebrated from start to finish. Every detail was thoughtfully handled — they explained the menu with care, checked in often, and made sure my evening was special. I ordered the steak, mac & cheese, French onion soup, and sushi, and each dish was exceptional. The flavors were rich, fresh, and perfectly prepared — truly a 10 out of 10 dining experience. What stood out most was how genuine and kind the team was throughout the evening. They went above and beyond to make my birthday unforgettable, and I left feeling incredibly happy and grateful. My wife and I dined here today and were quite happy with our experience. The atmosphere was sufficiently high quality to be comfortable but not ostentatious. The Service Team was very professional, well dressed, offering just the right amount of interaction. The food was higher quality than expected, and well presented. Overall a very nice dining experience, glad we went and we will return.

The food was superb. On Sundays they offer Surf and Turf at a set menu price which consists of a 3 course meal. The Bubbles and Berries cocktail tasted similar to a cherry-limeade. The smoking effect from the dry ice added such a touch of drama and elegance. The drink itself was perfectly crafted, refreshing and delicious. The dry ice made it seem extra special. It wasn't just a beverage, it was a little show right there at our table Service was equally impressive. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. The waitstaff was also attentive, ensuring our water glasses were full and anticipating our needs without being intrusive. I recommend it for special occasion or looking for a top-tier dining experience.

This was our first time here and probably our last. While the service was top-notch notch, the food wasn't that good. It was also overpriced for what we got. My pork chop was not all the way done, and when I inquired, our server said that's how they make it!! REALLY, raw pork...NO!!! The drinks were amazing, but also way overpriced IMHO! I had cheesecake for dessert and it had to be some of the best cheesecake I've ever had.

The atmosphere and food were wonderful but our server Alex was hands down the best!! He was professional, fun, prompt in service and did a great job making suggestions/recommendations for us that helped us have an amazing dining experience. We enjoyed our night and can’t wait to come back.

What an amazing experience, our server Adam was fantastic, infomative and always checking on us to ensure we were comfortable. When Adam was away checking on drinks or food the rest of the staff was checking on us to including Jeff the manager. Highly recommend this place. We will be back.

I've been to Ocean Prime several times but in the past two weeks I've gone twice - it's just that good!! The whole evening is an experience. When you walk in, you're greeted by a reception desk in a cozy room with a beautiful display of wine and comfy chairs in the waiting area. The vibes are immediately warm, cozy, and welcoming. Upon seating, the dining room is decorated beautifully and the low lighting keeps the ambiance going throughout the meal. I would highly recommend ordering the Bubbles & Berries to drink. Not only is it a bubbling beauty, it tastes just as wonderful! This drink alone is an experience and such a fun way to start. For appetizers, I would highly highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Hamachi Crudo. Other wonderful starters are the Warm Bread Service and a sushi roll (we went with the Spicy Tuna). For dinner, recently, I had the Ahi Tuna and the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were wonderful, but my favorite was definitely the Sea Bass. It is so rich and delicious. Those I was with ordered the Sea Scallops (looked incredible), Filets (with different preparations - Maytag Blue Cheese Crust and Black Truffle Butter), and sides of Bacon Creamed Spinach and Jalapeño Au Gratin (all of which I heard were divine). The servers are so kind and knowledgeable. If you have dietary restrictions - not to worry! The servers start the meal asking if there are any they should be aware of and are mindful of this. I've always been too full to try a dessert, but it's on my list to try next time I go! If you're looking for an upscale dining experience for a date night, dinner with friends, a business meal, or family in town - this is your go to! I can't recommend it enough!

First class experience. I am visiting KC for work and wanted to take in the 2025 World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers versus Toronto Blue Jays. Even though the game was a dud (we got killed 11-4), it was a great place to get a great meal in a nice venue. Easy parking, either street or free lot across the street. Lets see my friend and I shared a meal, House salad ***; average Ahi tuna tartare *****; delicious Grouper entree ****, delicious but fish portion too small; my friend said the gnocchi was mushy. 16 oz, New York Wagyu Strip steak ***** tender and tasty but the non Wagyu might be just fine at half the cost. Miso-Chili roasted broccoii** dry, lacking flavor, chewy The booth we sat at was perfect. nice size and comfortable. But we came to see the World Series game and there were two large screen televisions that somehow view was blocked by the bottles at the bar. They should clear out the bottles at least for the game. Service was great, attentive. I would definitely go back and try other dishes.

We went to Ocean Prime for our anniversary dinner. We scheduled a reservation on a Saturday for 7pm. We got off to a little bit of a rocky start having to wait over 10 minutes for our table past the reservation time. It was very busy. There were lots of birthdays and anniversaries being celebrated. We ordered a couple drinks to start. I ordered The Osprey and she ordered the Berries & Bubbles. The Berries & Bubbles is a fun drink with the dry ice smoke for the visuals. Both of us enjoyed our drinks. We ordered the calamari for the starter. The calamari was great and a good portion size. I ordered the group for my main. It was cooked perfectly. I would've liked a larger portion but it's about the portion size I would expect from a place like this on the fancier side. We shared the warm butter cake for dessert. This was comped for it being our anniversary. The warm butter cake was delicious. I definitely recommend ordering. We also each got a small glass of champagne on the house when our dessert came. This along with the dessert was a nice touch. I like that Ocean Prime made sure to highlight it being an anniversary dinner. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Other staff we encountered were also nice and welcoming. Overall, great experience and would recommend for a special occasion.

We love this chain! This visit was for restaurant week dinner. The front desk staff were warm and friendly on this bitterly cold evening. The server took a while to get to us even though it was early in the evening. He was not very warm or welcoming and had terrible breath. He didn't know what wine was being served on the special RW menu and had to go check. At the end of our meal he asked to bring us our check without the dessert which we had previously ordered. Justa very strange evening and not one we are used to here. By the time we left (which was still early) the music was cranked up and the noise level was quite high.

We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday at OP this past Saturday. The whole experience was fantastic! The reception staff was so friendly. Our table was decorated and they had a card for my daughter waiting. Jamison was our waiter. He did a great job serving the dietary needs to accommodate my daughter's Chron's disease. He was probably the kindest and most attentive waiter I remember ever having, and we eat out often. The food was all delicious. This place is one of a kind, with a great atmosphere.

Love happy hour!!! We went for an early birthday dinner. This is the first time me tried an entrée. That should tell you how good the apps are!

Ocean Prime continues to be one of our top dining spots on the Plaza--and having John Dove as our server makes it that much better. He's more than just a server; dining with JD feels like catching up with an old friend who happens to have an expert's grasp of the menu and drink list. Right as we were seated, my Belvedere Martini with blue cheese olives appeared--perfectly chilled and exactly how I like it. We split the Iceberg Wedge, a steakhouse classic done right. I love that Ocean Prime offers half portions of sides. Per JD's recommendation, we went with the Chophouse Corn, Smoked Gouda Tater Tots, and Jalapeño Au Gratin Potatoes. The corn, cut straight from the husk, was a standout--and I'm still trying to figure out how they pack that much flavor (and gouda!) into a tater tot. The 22 oz Bone-In Ribeye was grilled to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and plated beautifully. Dessert is never an afterthought here. We loved the 10-Layer Carrot Cake, which somehow manages to be both indulgent and light. If you're headed to Ocean Prime, ask for John Dove--you won't regret it.

Was in town for a concert and wanted to find a nice steak restaurant. This place was perfect. Absolutely loved the decor setup. The food was exceptional! As for the staff, they all went above and beyond. Would absolutely stop by when in Kansas City again.

This place is cute. Nothing spectacular but cute nonetheless. My friend and I arrive so that we could go have dinner at the restaurant and decided to have a drink at the bar before we transitioned into the dining room. Unfortunately, the bartender took so long to come to our table, and we just decided that we were going to dine in the bar area. I think he was just overwhelmed, but when he did come, he was very nice. I think he was just new out of training because I had some questions about the menu that he wasn't able to answer, but luckily I was able to navigate the menu myself. When I say the cocktails were amazing I had a paper plane. Next time with the sushi rolls which were very mediocre but good just nothing special. I also ordered calamari which came out extremely overcooked and rubbery. I don't know if it was overcooked or if it was just old, but it definitely had potential to be good because the flavor was amazing. It just wasn't properly cooked. The Brussel sprouts were really good. I ordered a ribeye, medium, rare plus to medium . The only reason why I said, medium rare plus is because it's a seafood restaurant and sometimes they mess up on the steaks and I didn't want it overcook because I know you can always bring a temp up but you can't bring a temp down. Of course, although I ordered a medium rare, plus it came out medium well/well done the slightest amount of pink to grey. We spoke to the server about it he apologized and had it remade. It had to be remade three times and just caused our dining experience to be so long. They finally got the temperature right but by that time we were just so over the dining experience the steak was just under season as well, so we just packed our stuff and left. I had no desire to go back to this restaurant again, but the manager made it right by us and I'm definitely going to give it another try and try to stay just within the seafood realm next go round. I have faith that they can execute a good dining experience. It was just little small details and kinks to work out. I'll be sure to keep you all posted with route two!

Went to Ocean Prime KC on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy so I'm glad we made reservations. The service was on point! The waitstaff were attentive, warm and friendly. Our waitress did the perfect ratio of checking on us but also letting us enjoy our date. She also had the best recommendations. Food: this is where one star was taken away. I just wasn't blown away by their A5 wagyu or bone in ribeye. Their meat is wet aged and it may just be a preference thing, I don't know but I didn't care too much for either. They provide lovely sauces on the side to dip the meat in that saved the day but I prefer my meat to be able to stand alone in this caliber of restaurant. However, the lobster tail was great! And the drawn butter stayed warm. The appetizer and sides were the highlight of the night; broccoli, tater tots and deviled eggs to die for. The cocktails and wine selections were good and dessert menu was great as well. We shared a 10 layer carrot cake the was really delicious. Now, the ambiance was what's to be expected of a restaurant of this caliber, very nice! Good for date night, celebrations or what have you . Overall, a solid restaurant, price point not too bad either...it was worth the trip.

Dinner was very good , the truffle caviar deviled eggs were spectacular and very good truffle flavor . The scallop risotto was by far the dish of the night , amazing flavor and just just to die for . Very romantic and elegant vibe to the restaurant perfect for a date night. The staff were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable to the menu .

Enjoyed Happy Hour at Ocean Prime-- did I just uncover the best HH in the city?! All items ordered were 50% off during HH- a steal! Food: POPCORN: Table comes with the lost declines popcorn you have ever had. Sushi: Ocean roll and Prime roll- delicious, so fresh. Ocean roll had the perfect little spicy kick. Sakura Wagyu Cheeseburger: my husband loved- said the jam was Jamin'. Highly recommend. Drinks: Berries & Bubbles: A delicious little science experiment- it bubbles for quite some time. This was just a bit sweet, but loved the taste- ordered two! Atmosphere: They set a high end vibe with excellent service.

They have an amazing chef 5 course experience about once a month. It is very much an "experience!" Great food, great wine, and great experience. They also have a half price sushi night and a special priced martini night! The tablespoons de carving of the Red Snapper was quite the show. This was a special menu, but shows an example of their monthly experience meals.

Greta food great service! Spacious restaurant. My husband and I go there for my birthday each year. Everything was outstanding except the shrimp linguine needs to work on it's texture, I believe angel hair or spaghetti or bucatini would go better with this seasoning and also it needs to be cooked al dente instead of all the way thru. The hamachi was outstanding, pickled mango and seaweed salad went perfectly with the fish. Oysters were fresh and sweet. We devoured them within a few minutes. Salmon belly nigiri came with caviar on top, it was not only visually pleasing, the salmon was really fat, fresh and great size. I ordered the mocktail with blueberries, one of the best drinks I have had but the other drink with zero gin wasn't really good. Our server gifted us a dessert option for my britches and I chose the warm butter cake. It was so yummy and filling! I highly recommend people to try ocean prime!

My husband surprised me with a reservation in honor of our tenth anniversary of our first "I love you." The view was lovely. We shared a crab cake, I had gnocchi and grouper, he had sea scallops. Everything was delicious. And our server was awesome. I would highly recommend and we will definitely go back.

We went to Ocean Prime for my partners birthday and we had the most amazing time. The environment is classy and upscale without being stuffy and snooty. We felt very welcomed from the moment we were greeted to the moment we left the building. The food is impeccable, but be ready to drop at least a couple hundred bucks for a party of two - I promise it's worth it. Honorable mention to the bartender who hooked my dirty martini up with 5 stuffed olives - I'm a sucker for stuffed olives.

Amazing service - I came here with my fiancé for a work milestone celebration dinner and our server was very helpful in assisting us with what to order. Our steak came back pretty rare so we did sent it back to get cooked a bit more but everything was delicious. We were splitting our 2 mains and they were able to split it for us which was nice. I wouldn't get the grouper again as it wasn't anything special for what the price was. My favorites were the goat cheese ravioli and black truffle Mac & cheese.

So we went after work to unwind. Our server Jevene made our visit memorable. She was always on point with recommendations and was delightful and engaging. Everything you could ask for in a top notch restaurant. She recommended the East Coast Oysters and they were crisp, briny, sweet, and fresh. We had to get a second round of 6. The blackened snapper was perfectly cooked and had just the right hint of heat (spice) at the end. The butter cake was perfect to close. But again our server just made it a memorable evening. We will be back!

Had such a wonderful experience here last week for our 3rd anniversary. The food was stellar and so was the service. They had lovely signature cocktails that were fun to experience. It was quiet in the dining area and was perfect for us to chat and connect on our special day. Would definitely recommend.

For my birthday this year I finally checked out Ocean Prime. I was really excited considering the fact l've visited Prime Social a few times. The atmosphere was very elegant decor and a good selection of music. While I enjoy the food and cocktails. I do have to say the lamb chops did not match the hype. They were well cooked but not a lot of flavor. The cocktail was very cute with the nice "instagram Smokey effects". But it was honestly too sweet. While Ocean Prime is nice I'm not in a rush to visit soon.

Great views at the 16 story roof top bar! Clubby vibrant bar. Good bar menu for appetizers and drinks. Very clubby feel to this bar. Yes to Ocean Prime!

Food was good but our waitress blew us off as she got a big table in the back. We sat at the table 29-30 min after we finished our meal before asked if we wanted dessert. The hostess finally came over and talked to us but it was too late at that point. A head scratcher is the waitress was guaranteed to tip from the big table ? When paying that kind of money the service we received was unacceptable.

Came here for NYE dinner and it was amazing from start to finish! My reservation was initially for four people, three people decided to join us last minute making it a reservation for seven people and the host made it work!!! It was SUPER busy and a lot going on due to it being NYE so I was nervous we were going to get turned away. S/O to the host that night! ( didn't catch her name) Our server I believe her name was Brittany was AWESOME! Not one time did we ever feel rushed, she was very attentive, paid attention to details and very patient once the drinks started kicking in. LOL! I didn't capture as much picture as I would like to due to me having the time of my life with my love ones. The food was a 10/10 I ordered 12 dozen of oysters half east and west coast, lobster linguine. A few of my guests ordered the ribeye, lobster, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, crab cake, lamb chops , tuna roll (forgot the actual name) and Wagyu beef medium rare 6oz. I will for sure be returning here, the service and intimate atmosphere was so fitting for the occasion. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Sophisticated dinner spot! Top notch service in Kansas City! We celebrated our anniversary at Ocean Prime while we were in town. Absolutely to die for selections that will make your final decision a tough one! We settled on the nights special of the bone in ribeye, dual lobster tails, and creme brûlée for dessert! Amazing service, sophisticated atmosphere, and delicious food.

Boyfriend and I went here last week for our anniversary dinner we absolutely had the best time! The lobster linguine was so good and I had great leftovers for days. Great service, ambiance, everything. Would love to go back and try the sushi.

I did an early birthday celebration here because of an upcoming surgery and they treated me like it was the actual day. The server was fantastic and gave recommendations when asked. Every single part of this meal was amazing. Now, this place is expensive, but for a special occasion it is absolutely worth it. The place was crowded but it was not loud. I went here last year for my birthday but for lunch and it was very quiet.

This is a great place for the early 30's crowd/aging hipsters. Young vibe, nice ambiance but I took off a star for the slow service. Even though the servers were frenetically running back and forth through the aisles during a busy time, they would rarely stop back by the table. Though the people who provided water refills came by frequently. We waited about an hour between each service we received (drinks, apps/salad, dinner). The food is incredible (wagyu steak, asparagus, lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque, butter cake, carrot cake). If you're down with a post-hipster vibe and don't mind slower service, I would recommend this place, but hit up Prime Social beforehand for a drink!

First time here and we will be back! Lots of variety on the menu, our server was very attentive and had great recommendations. The attention to detail on little things added to an overall pleasant experience.

I did not dine here. I confused Ocean Prime with Prime Social and only realized my mistake once I was seated at a table and saw the restaurant's name on the menu. The restaurant is gorgeous, though. I loved the ambiance, and this is the type of place I'd hang out with friends after work for good food and drinks in a sophisticated atmosphere. I'm writing this review to acknowledge a standout employee at Ocean Prime named Stephanie. When I asked her if the restaurant was Prime Social and how to get there, she escorted me through the back, down an elevator, and to the other side of the building, where she talked to the hostess of Prime Social and got me in without a reservation. Stephanie was so kind and went out of her way to assist me. If I'm ever back in Kansas City, I will dine at Ocean Prime. I have also bookmarked the Ocean Prime location near me in Michigan so that I can go there to try the food. Thank you, Stephanie, for helping a lost out-of-towner!

This was our first time at Ocean Prime, and we will definitely be going back. The restaurant is beautiful, the service exceptional, and the food amazing! Our server, Alexander, provided excellent recommendations and made the evening very special! We are looking forward to our next visit!

Great ambiance and our server was excellent. We had a house salad, lobster bisque, shrimp sauté, crab cocktail, 1/2 pounds of king crab legs, the salmon entree and the sea scallops entree with sautéed spinach and Brussels sprouts. The food had some flavor, but was on the bland side for me. Everything was over priced for what you get.

Ocean Prime knocked it out of the park for my birthday dinner. Brie(we'll ask for her again next time) and the entire service team were amazing & took great care of us. Their wine specialist helped us pick the perfect bottle. My steak was delicious & cooked to perfection. The Chilean Sea Bass was delightful. The jalapeño au gratin potatoes were out of this world. My God those are the best potatoes I've ever had. The lobster bisque was great, with the best lobster chunks. The salad was mediocre, I'd stick with soups. The cocktails were fine, but we're tough to please. Calamari was pretty good. The carrot cake was very good, far better than I anticipated & creme Brule was quite good. We left stuffed & feeling like we had a very special dinner. Let's be real, it's a very expensive night. Rarely do I feel these type of high dollar event dinners are worth it but I can say emphatically I'll be back.

Had a wonderful time celebrating a loved one's birthday here. I had the lobster linguine and it comes with a lot of lobster! The gooey butter cake was delicious and our server Andrew was wonderful. It was very quiet since there weren't many people there on a Monday night. Would highly recommend going to Prime Social after!

Had an amazing time here with friends and family. Top notch services from staff and food. I do love the cocktails too. Food is fresh and can be serve as family style if you are in a group. First time was great, second time, still consistent and would come back. Oysters are fresh, the scallops were cook right, and the poke bowl was so fulfilling, kinda salty though. Grabbed dinner at Ocean Prime during restaurant week. It is a swanky place in a brand new building. We made reservations, but between the cold and the Chiefs' game, it wasn't really necessary. We were able to be seated about a half hour before our reservation time. They have a LARGE wine list - both by the glass and the bottle. I ended up having the berries and bubbles - it was fun and not too sweet until the very bottom. My husband got an old-fashioned and it was very whiskey forward. He loved it. We tried both salads on the restaurant week menu. I loved the flavor of the Caesar, but could have done with a little less dressing. I got the scallops with risotto, which were fantastic, but my husband's salmon was a little overcooked. Carrot cake for dessert was also good. Service was very good as well.

I've come to Ocean prime twice now. Once for lunch and once for happy hour. I will visit for dinner next but I feel confident with my review. Drinks: great! I love the black orchid. It's pale in color with a purple and clear ice ball. It's very good and sweet but not too sweet. I also had the berries and bubbles. It's good and is a nice eye catcher since it smokes. Food:the lamb chops, sliders, fish tacos (per my mom), and macaroni are all great! I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order to be honest. Ambiance: lunch is quiet and generally nice. You don't get the Tru ambiance unless you come later in the day. HH is a good time as there are more people making it feel livelier without it being overwhelming or loud. Service: each time service was great. My first time I came a back way and ended up by the kitchen. I was so lost but they happily led me to the right area and over to my lunch date. Servers are attentive without being bothersome. Date worthy: yes! Will I come again: duh, lol

Having mixed feelings about my time here. First of all the ambience is definitely sexy, grown, intimate. It's the kind of place where you have to dress up or you'll look very out of place. Lighting is dim so perfect for an intimate dinner. For sure very lounge-y. Bathrooms are clean and the women's restroom came with Bobby pins, makeup wipes and mouthwash! Service - impeccable. Everyone here does a great job at staying attentive and professional. Coat check is also offered for free. Parking - you can get $10 car service or free parking across the street in garage. Food - tbh the reason I'm having mixed feelings is because the seafood. Shrimp cocktail was good. Our blue crab sushi roll was underwhelming. Plain and def felt like i could barely taste the crab. Sonoma goat cheese ravioli - mehhh. Wouldn't order again. My lobster linguine was extremely salty. I wonder if it was the Parmesan/lobster that made it salty but I sent it back and they did lower the sodium. So for that I'm grateful. Still walked away having to drink tons of water since it was soooo salty. The steak was fine and I probably would come back for that only. Our table ordered a couple steaks and I didn't get a picture but still enjoyed it. Overall the food didn't wow me but I think giving it another chance would be more fair of a review. Next time I'd like to order some other dishes to see if I would enjoy it better. Cocktails - I enjoyed my black orchid.

Finally made reservations to Ocean Prime KC to celebrate birthday with friends on a busy Saturday night. Upon arrival, we were advised reservations were running about half an hour behind but we didn't mind as we scored seats at the bar to enjoy Berries and Bubbles - always a joy to watch with the dry ice smoke. We then proceeded to our table for dinner. The Beet Salad with goat cheese mousse, orange frisée and toasted almonds was absolutely amazing. Shared the Filet with Twin Lobster Tails, and it was the perfect portion before our night out. The Sautéed Mushrooms and Roasted Brussels Sprouts were delicious while the Jalapeño Au Gratin stole the show. Three side dishes are perfect to share for a table of five. It's great to have one more classy choice for dinner at the Plaza - definitely check out Ocean Prime if you haven't yet!
