Ocean View at The Dome

Had a wonderful experience at The Dome, Plymouth. The food and drinks were really nice, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Our waiter was excellent, very friendly, polite, and professional. He mentioned it was his first day, but you’d never have known. He did such a great job and made us feel really welcome. Overall, a lovely visit and would definitely recommend.

We came here for our Christmas party a large group of ladies. Even with preorder of food it appears the kitchen found it impossible to get the meals out in reasonable time in an edible condition. The scanty portions of turkey, potatoes that were so dry and hard, soggy sprouts and the solitary sliver of carrot, left alot to be desired. This so called 'roast dinner' was produced drowning in copious amounts of gravy which was so thick it would block a London sewer. These 'meals' were delivered by conscientious waiting staff especially Noah who did a good job. The complaints of this poor presentation and quality of the meal was met with disdain. We were refused further drinks from the bar and had to finish our deserts without any refreshment. To reflect on this event and know now that we have been over charged, it is guaranteed our next meal will not be at this place. I do not recommend eating here.

Service was a little bit slow and table was far too small for 4 people but dogs cannot ho into the main restaurant so we had brunch in the bar area. Still a fantastic view and food was good.

Absolutely gutted! This was our Christmas party, which we had been looking forward to for months. We all work in a stressful environment, dealing with cancer patients every day, and to come to what we thought was a reputable venue for our Christmas party, served sub-standard food and poor service, was not only disappointing but insulting. The food was overcooked, to the point that the roast potatoes had developed a hole in the middle. The ballotine of turkey was covered in so much stuffing and drowned by gloopy, salty gravy; there was only one bite of turkey meat. We were charged for food we didn't receive. This was rectified the following day when the lady who couldn't attend called to complain. The manager, Michael, handled the situation very badly. When we stood our ground, he refused us any more drinks, even though we hadn't had our pudding. Our only discount was the removed service charge. My colleague has called several times to speak to the manager since this disappointing evening; she has left several voicemail messages and received no response. Hasten to say, 16 people will not be returning.

The vegan afternoon tea was lovely with a nice selection of sweet and savoury. I only with the scones had a vegan cream option and that there was something telling you what each thing was. We visited as a large group with various dietary requirements which the staff catered to perfectly. Excellent service and beautiful view, will definitely visit again for special occasions.

The loaded croissants were absolutely delicious, and the venue itself is great. Unfortunately, the service was very slow and we never received a coffee we had ordered. Such a shame, as the food and space have so much potential.

We had booked a table in advance and even called in the morning to confirm. When we arrived just a few minutes late while driving from Torquay in a rainy weather, our table had been given away. Instead of greeting us politely, the manager responded with attitude, saying we should have called — even though we had already done so. The alternative table offered wasn’t great, and the interaction made us feel unwelcome, so we initially decided to leave. On our way out, we noticed a better table in the front lobby and asked the bartender, who was kind and accommodating enough to seat and serve us there. Later, the manager came to ask what happened and apologized after realizing we had called. While we appreciated the apology, the initial experience left a bad impression. Customer service and communication could definitely be improved.

I took my mum for breakfast at Ocean View today and cannot say enough good things about the food, service and ambience. Paige greeted us and was so friendly and welcoming. We opted to sit in the bar and had a wonderful view of the Sound. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, and Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs - both delicious - on the fantastic buy one get one free offer. I accidentally spilt my coffee during breakfast. With no fuss or drama whatsoever, Ben came along and mopped it all up and Nina brought me another mug of coffee. What a wonderful place with staff who are a credit to you. We shall certainly be returning.
