This was so cool! This iconic wooden pier stretches nearly 2,000 feet into the Pacific—one of the longest on the West Coast—and it's free, open to everyone, with that classic SoCal charm. The views are unreal: crashing waves below, surfers catching breaks, pelicans diving, and the coastline stretching north and south. We timed it for late afternoon into sunset, and the golden light on the water was straight-up magical.
We watched locals and tourists fishing, spotted dolphins way out there, and just soaked in the people-watching: families, couples, joggers, everyone vibing. The pier feels alive and authentic a mix of local energy and tourist-friendly spots, with benches everywhere to sit and take it all in. It's super walkable from downtown, the beach, and all the eats we've been hitting up. Even with the holiday buzz, it wasn't overcrowded, and the end-of-year sunset glow made it extra special. No complaints—clean, safe-feeling, and just pure coastal bliss.
