Yelp
I have been using Yelp for years and have never posted a food review. This restaurant calls for my 1st review. I normally speak up while at a restaurant or any place of business, but I was hungry and felt lucky to get a table and reservations at the beach on a Friday night with my girlfriend.
Service wasn't too bad. We ordered a water and a Sprite with appetizers that didn't need silverware, but had to ask for them and napkins after being served our main courses. This is an easy oversight for wait staff but still slightly annoying as we had to wait even after we asked for it.
The food was 0-2 stars.
The pricing, even for the shore was high for the quality and quantity of food.
- FOOD -
We were given rolls and butter as we sat down at our table. The rolls were stale, which I've read a few times in the reviews.
Caeser salad - $10.95 for a side-salad portion. Room temperature salad with limp and browning lettuce, stale croutons, and what tasted like bottled dressing.
Would have paid $5, full price if fresh.
Crab nachos - $17.95 for a portion for (2). This was the best dish we ordered, and given a (2) star rating. "Lump" crabmeat should be lump, not shredded in my opinion. This dish was also room temperature.
Would have paid $10, and full price for "lump" crab meat and served at least warm.
Crab Fingers - $12.95 for (8) small to large pieces of crab. Nice and cold, but smelled off. The lemon and spicy mustard worked well to cover it up.
Would have paid $7, full price if satisfied.
Clam Strip Platter - $14.95 for "lightly fried" clam strips, fries and coleslaw. The strips were all breading and no clam, and heavily fried. The fries were the lightly-breaded frozen fries which were what I expected, and weren't bad. We don't eat coleslaw so I can't comment on it.
Would have paid $8, full price is satisfied.
Would have been satisfied paying around $30 plus tip, but instead we paid $65, plus tip. We ordered (4) dishes and weren't satisfied with anything but the soda and fries.
Definitely will not be returning here, and I usually give places a 2nd chance.
