"Ochi is a familiar constant for the people of Shepherd’s Bush in search of great goat curry. Regulars order without a single glance at the menu and leave the Caribbean takeaway gripping bags in both hands. Not much has changed in the past decade. The white tiles are plastered with signed posters of artists as big as Busta Rhymes and Ian Brown, who have all popped in for a patty. But you should always get the goat curry: hunks of slow-cooked meat are a perfect purplish-pink on the inside, with a rich savoury flavour. It’s a London favourite for a reason." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager
"This spot on Uxbridge Road is apparently RiRi’s go-to Caribbean spot in Shepherd’s Bush. Although they’ve got a menu of things like curry goat and jerk chicken, they’ve also got some truly excellent Jamaican patties. The pastry is flaky and buttery, and there’s a choice between meat, chicken, fish, and vegetables for £2.50 a pop. Our favourite is the meat. It’s peppery, warming, and - surprise, surprise - meaty. But the chicken is also a great choice, and a little lighter. And the good news is that because they’re only £2.50, you can get both the chicken and the meat for £5. Open for takeaway and delivery around W12." - rianne shlebak

"Sometimes—read: all the time—your whole ‘arrive a couple of hours before the show so we can have a nice sit-down meal’ doesn’t go to plan. When you need a quick grab-and-go situation, this Caribbean spot on Uxbridge Road is the one. Their menu has everything from fish tea soup, to curry goat and jerk chicken, but the excellent Jamaican patties are the perfect on-the-go snack. Our favourite of the patties is the meat. It’s peppery and warming, and £2.50 a piece. If you see a small queue and start stressing that you won’t make it in time—don’t. The wait is usually short and the food is definitely worth it." - rianne shlebak
