I just love this place. This was my second time visiting them. The staff are always friendly, they have unique beer selections and delicious food. I ordered the Salmon BLT with Tater Tots. The salmon was grilled to perfection! Definite must try. The parking can be a bit tricky because it's downtown so be prepared to pay to park.

First time visiting here and I must say, "I will be back!" Even though there was a nice crowd, we had no wait time to be seated. Our beers came out quick and the appetizer took no time at all. The service was also an A+!

Google
Used to really love this place. We still frequent but sad they use frozen burgers instead of fresh ground beef on site - website is misleading because it says they still grind their burgers fresh daily ; I’m sure it’s due to food costs, a staff member confirmed they switched to frozen burgers. Still like the vibe and a nice location

If you enjoy a little heat with your meal, try their Red Hot Love burger. Hands-down my favorite burger that I've ever had. I've never had a burger when out at a restaurant and IMMEDIATELY wanted it again. The craft beer was also amazing! Don't drive past this place or consider another restaurant nearby; This is the one.

My first time at this location for lunch with friends. They raved on and on about the food and beer. I’m not a beer drinker but definitely love food. So I came for the experience. Ordering is done at a counter and then delivered to your perch. The dining area is filled with brewing equipment and has high ceilings. As you can imagine, the acoustics help the sound resonate, and it has a cafeteria roar. The food has nice presentation but the flavor was lacking. Basic average burgers and limp natural cut fries. The cheese curds wanted to be good but the beer batter was too light and it lacked the texture to complement the gooey cheese. I don’t drink, so I did not have a beer delivered to the table. I missed out on even getting a beverage, because I found the drink fountain just before we left. It’s not anywhere near the ordering counter but down a hallway on the way to the restroom. The manager did show concern about the uneaten food, offered to buy me a beer, but I don’t drink. There is other great reviews of this place and my friends love it. So I don’t want to discourage others. However a six dollar burger and fries shouldn’t cost fifteen dollars. In my opinion the menu is overpriced. I’m quite sure it has to do with the locations overhead. I would eat here again to support local businesses but it’s not my first choice.

Never been to downtown Macon and randomly picked this place for lunch. It was really good! I had a salad and husband had a burger and fries. Everything was delicious!

Google
A great place to hang out, drink some great beer and eat some really good food. There's definitely something for everyone here. And I've brought multiple out-of-towners here and they all loved it. 9.5/10 Definitely Recommended. Tip: The Philly Steak is always good but get the Philly Steak Fries and then one of their awesome burgers.

Google
Every time the boys say “Let’s get some lunch” it’s Ocmulgee Brew Pub. They never disappoint. At every visit I have the best hamburger I’ve ever had. Brandon is great, always checks in to make sure we’re having the best time. Choose Ocmulgee.

Yelp
Traveling through Macon and stopped for the evening and dinner. Found this Pub on Yelp with high marks. It was an awesome choice. Typical brewery in an old building downtown. Burgers and salads are the main food items with a nice selection of beers. You order at the bar or at the food counter and they bring it to your table. We got burgers which were excellent. Highly recommend this establishment.

Yelp
Great brewery in downtown Macon. Good beers ... I like their Rally Cap pale ale. They do have food... tavern style. Service is very good.

Yelp
Im afraid my clothes and hair will smell like fried food after dining here. Entire restaurant has a haze coming from the kitchen. I liked my veggie burger but my husband did not.he also disliked the cole slaw. The fieldgreens in my side salad were crisp but tge chopped tomato and grated cheese tasted like they were cut a few days ago. Food took quite a while to arrive at table on sunday at 1:15pm. I Wouldnt return.

Yelp
Great brewery, with yummy american food. I got a light salad that was nicely dressed and had some great texture and obviously accompanied by a side of fries. The beer selection is large but the types are limited. Large space and great to bring big groups for any reason.

Yelp
Great brewpub in cute downtown area. We stopped by for very late lunch and stayed for happy hour (1/2 priced beers). Beer selection was great and we enjoyed the Hazy IPA. We ordered burger and fried catfish sammy. The catfish was truly outstanding w a spicy remoulade sauce. Both came w great handout fries. Everyone working here was nice and helpful. Would return for sure!!

Yelp
Ocmulgee Brewpub in downtown Macon, GA. I was challenged to try their burgers and compare to Five Guys, Hmmmm. Food: The Ocmulgee Burger is a meal in itself, topping are fresh and the Wisconsin cheese curds cheese adds something that is special. Fries come abundantly on your tray... fresh cut and hot. The ceaser salad with the cheese curds topping is definitely original. I did have an opportunity to sample the onsite brewed beer this time however look forward to it on my next visit. Service: You will not find a more friendly wait staff.... Excellent customer service. Ambiance: A brewery with food service is the vibe that I have. Clean and orderly facility. I really had an enjoyable experience here and would definitely recommend visiting.

Yelp
I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and got myself a veggie burger. I'm quite fond of the Ocmulgee Brewpub veggie burger because, made with black beans and some broccoli, it doesn't try to imitate a beef burger, but is delicious as is. The burger was delicious. The beers are also great, although because Ocmulgee is a local microbrewery, the selection of beers is a bit small, usually around four, one of which is a "guest" beer. Still all are good, and I'd recommend them.

Yelp
This place is an experience. First, the beer menu is diverse in a fun way. It draws you to try everything. We were immediately greeted and helped by a staff member who was just as excited to pour us samples and talk beer as my wife and I were to be there. The beers were fantastic. Their food menu complements the their beers and ambience, and the food was fantastic in terms of freshness and taste. The ambience was fun, comfortable, and welcoming. We'll be back.

Yelp
Fried green tomatoes and the burger were well made. Soggy fried and burnt/oily onions rings were a huge disappointment. Service - 3/5 (self Food - 3/5 Ambiance - 3/5

Yelp
Food was fabulous. Service was good but a bit slow. The atmosphere was fantastic so it was very pleasant and I Will go back.

Yelp
Great burgers, plenty of seating, and fast service, would have been 5 stars but they were out of pimento cheese :(

Yelp
Okay, we were super excited to try this place. I ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich with ghost pepper sauce and thought it would come out with the ghost pepper sauce and it would be hot. Nope. Not even a smidgen of hot. I think they forgot the sauce altogether or even the "Nashville" hot level. The sandwich was not spicy at all. It came with cole slaw but was kale slaw. My sandwich was seriously swimming in grease. The chicken breading was burnt from them using old frying oil. The only hot item was the fried pickles and they were overly salty but ok. My boyfriend preferred the Ocmulgee original and it came out raw. Like pink raw. He ordered medium and he just ate it because he's just that kind of guy and won't make a big deal and have someone just remake it. I was excited for the shoe string fries except they were dry, crunchy, cold and zero taste. They had been sitting under the heat lamp quite a while. They were awful. Someone recommended this place and not even sure why but unfortunately our experience was horrible. I ate half my sandwich and a few pickle chips and threw the rest away. He ate his burger the best he could and I seriously hope he doesn't get sick from the burger not being cooked. Everyone was nice inside. It wasn't busy. The place seemed clean inside but not the outside tables. If you still decide to try, that's on you. You've been warned. My stomach hurts and I feel like I can feel the grease coagulating in my system. LOL

Yelp
Food was pretty darn good, the set up of the store wasn't intuitive but I figured it out and had a good time

Yelp
Gotta love brew pubs that actually make delicious food too! That's what this place is, a lovely brew pub you can hang out with friends, famiky, or co-workers at AND get delicious food. Simple food menu, and a simple bar menu. I love it! Plenty of seating both inside and outside. You'll have to watch for random strangers asking you for food if you sit outdoors. But other than that, this place is pretty cool. Ambiance: super casual Cleanliness: clean Customer service: excellent

Yelp
Got the forest floor burger (I think- on their website menu it's called holy peyote) with lettuce and fries. Solid burger. Fries were nice and crispy, and got a large helping of them. I could've used a bit more aioli on the burger, but I added some of the ketchup they gave me for a bit more flavor. Not a bad price for the meal. I ordered a cherry blossom lager which was pretty good too. Also, a water. I had no idea where the water was located when I was offered a cup (I had never been) so I found the water fountain. I think one of the workers thought I was crazy because he told me that the drink station was around the OTHER corner. So, I went to get ice. They gave me a pager but brought the food to me, so that was nice. Lots of open seating available. I liked the big screen they had- it was playing softball, which to me was refreshing as it's usually a sport of men.

Yelp
Love it here! Walked in on a Yelp recommendation. I'm glad I did. They've got a great selection of beers and awesome food. I had the Hot Chicken Sandwich...soooo good! The service was quick and friendly. Tons of space for groups and even an outdoor seating area.

Yelp
This should be the model for all brewpubs. A simple and curated menu with a focus on fresh ingredients, and a twist on the original. They have the best burgers here. I would put these burgers on part with cult level type burgers like In-N-Out, SmashBurger, H&F... I mean, these guys make great burgers. You'd think a burger is a burger, but then, when you get one here, you'll taste the difference. Asides from the burger, they have fried pork skin. I was thinking they'd give me a tiny portion, but wooo hoo, they gave me platter enough for 4 peeps. There was a lotta of that savory , crunchy, porky goodness. And they got all the small batch beer to wash down that goodness. My favorite is the Curse. Hoppy and clean. Not that overly citrusy, syrupy stuff out there. This is just pure, good old Hoppy IPA. And finally... thank you for the great service, Our cashier was very patient with me, always smiling, and made great suggestions with the sauces. We got the Tuffle Aioli and hot Mustard and others. The Truffle Aioli is hands down the best.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening at around 530 and it wasn't packed. A lot of room to sit and no lines. I was definitely ordering a beer but wasn't sure about food because I didn't feel like eating burgers however these were voted top burger for 2 years, so sparked my curiosity. I wanted the Juliette however they were out of fried tomatoes and that was the whole reason I wanted it so I scrambled and picked the red hot love burger because I love bacon, spicy and cheese. I also upgraded me fries to onion rings, always do if available. The burger was really good. First, the burger was the star of the dish and not the bun, hate it when the bun is so huge. Next it was cooked well and not dry, very tender and juicy. The pimento cheese was good and had a little spice. The pepper jam was ok, not really a fan of sweet in my meals but it wasn't overpowering which was great. The bacon was also a thick slice and although not crunchy, it was still good. The onion rings took me by surprise. It was a red onion and thick. It was the star of the onion rings and not a overbearing beer batter. This was my first onion rings with red onions and I loved it. Overall, great meal and the beer was good too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We decided to stop in for a beer while waiting for a table at The Rookery (an hour) and ended up eating here because there was no wait and they had a wide selection of beers. I am so glad we decided to stay because I would say this burger was arguably the best burger I've ever had, hands down! I opted for the Juliette, which had beef, pepper jack cheese, fried green tomato, bacon, crunchy lettuce, balsamic onion remoulade. Delicious! Top that with fresh cut fries and $6 hazy IPAs and we're in business. We also liked the laidback vibe and chill ambiance . It was busy but there's plenty of space to eat and there's also patio seating. Highly recommended!

Yelp
A bit of a school lunchroom look with the long picnic like tables and benches but here you've got dozens of beers to make this school room become a party room. And tonight we are outside on the side walking eating in 72 degree perfection. Burgers lack a grilled flavor and salt yet they are outstanding!! The Summer Salad was sweeter than a cotton candy machine's stir stick yet still was of great quality.

Yelp
Was a favorite for years and sad to see it go down hill. Always LOVED the hot chicken sandwich and fries! It was one of the best sandwiches in Macon. It could vary in hotness from fairly tame to pain, you were in for an adventure. It was always a 7/10 to 10/10 though. The new sandwich that is taking its place is inferior in every measure. The bun is basic, like from a chain grocery store. The cole slaw is now like the kind you get in a quart tub in Kroger, the breaded chicken breast is off Cisco truck and there is ZERO heat. Like you can feed this to an infant level heat. I'm not sure why it's still called the same sandwich. It is 10/10 disappointing! The fries are also not nearly as good. I just can't understand the drastic change. Why take something so good and destroy it for something lesser? The cream ale also wasn't as good, but I'm not sure if it's because I was so disappointed. I nearly sent the sandwich back, and in retrospect, I should have. The service was great and apologetic for the changes. Just sad a sandwich & fries that I ate 10-15 times a year is no more.

Yelp
Great burgers! Fries on point Definitely worth a try . I will be back. A wonderful Gem in Macon

Yelp
Customer service, food and beer was all amazing! So glad we chose to go here. Try the cheese curds and blue cheese Buffalo fries. The beer I had which was an IPA was so good but sorry I can't remember the name.

Michelle H.

Yelp
The food and beer are top notch. We had a burger and a quesadilla. Both were excellent. Will definitely be back again soon.
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoyed this place twice in the last month! The food is definitely cooked as ordered and all the burgers, sandwiches, chicken, cocktails, beer are fantastic. Super efficient and friendly service. Reasonable prices. Spotless from front to back. More casual and atmosphere so summer shorts and t shirt or your Sunday clothes are fine. The spices and food prep and cooking techniques are spot on genius. My wife had a chicken sandwich and she said that was delicious too! Fairly decent parking for Macon. Also public parking just down the street. I'll be back!!

Yelp
I had not been to The Ocmulgee Brewpub before. First, let me say that the food was good & the portions were ridiculously large! I don't think I've ever eaten a larger burger, & I had enough fries to feed a family! A few minor irksome things need to be addressed; The drink dispenser needs to be maintained so that it doesn't spray drink on the customers! That maintenance need to be extended to the tables as well! We tried several, & they all rocked back & forth when touched!(Very aggravating!) this could be a five-star review with a little effort from the staff!

Woody S.

Yelp
Friday night 01/18/25, we visited Ocmulgee Brewpub and let me tell you, it was amazing, we all had their Craft Made Humburgers and an order of pork skins to share among us. Everything was made to order and perfect. We also had some special brew and it was amazing, we we'r a party of four & We will surely be back....

Jamie D.

Yelp
Oh, Ocmulgee. How could you fail me so? You used to have a lovely vegetarian salad, but now ALL of your salads have meat. Sure, I can ask them to leave it off, but of course I'll pay the same price. And why oh why don't you have a decent veggie burger? I'd gladly pay any price to sub a Beyond Burger or even a Boca burger, but a black bean burger? Have you eaten one of those? They fall apart and they taste like beans on bread - not good. Please, please do better. Beers are delish, but too many are fruity. I'll try again in the future, but if no change I'll take my business elsewhere. Thank you in advance.

Philip L.

Yelp
Love this brewery! Always make sure to stop by when I'm driving through Macon. Their burgers are outstanding and their beer is even better. But this story goes above and beyond. My wife and I had recently moved and unfortunately in the move lost (misplaced) a couple boxes we haven't been able to find. In one of those boxes was my Ocumulgee brewery shirt. I had checked on the site and noticed there was no online store. So I reached out to the brewery in regards to possibly getting a new shirt. Anna and Brandon responded almost immediately, they sent me photos of what they had and not only that but took time out of their busy day to keep in contact and personally go to the post office to mail me a new shirt. Not only that but did this all during and before the busy holiday so I could get my shirt before Christmas! Thank you Anna and Brandon for all your help you guys are truly awesome! You have a customer for life any time I'm in Macon! Happy Holidays to all your staff. Cheers!

Yelp
We placed an order to go and received it so fast. The chicken sandwich was one of the best I've had. Crispy, juicy the full of flavor. The onion rings were some of the best I've had as well. Very friendly and helpful staff. It's a seat yourself spot and it was packed.

Yelp
Nice hip burger/brewery joint in the Downtown, Macon area. I tried the River Creature burger, which is a lobster and crab mixed patty. I really liked it and I recommend it for those who want to try something different from the usual red meat burger. My friend recommended the fried Wisconsin cheese curds and after I tried it, it did not disappoint! A must try if you're here! I also appreciated they serve Mexican cola here too. Additionally, the place is super clean and is good for large groups.

Yelp
My burger was really good but my husband not so much. The staff was helpful in recommending beer & burger choices. They had unique names for all their burgers. Place was pretty clean with some native pictures painted on the wall (canoes & things).

Tara S.

Yelp
Great brewpub! We were greeted with a smile immediately upon arrival. They had tons of space to sit and relax, as well as an outdoor seating area. My husband and I both ordered salads and he decided on a hamburger as well. All items were brought to us very quickly. The salads were huge! I mean massive. I've never seen an individual salad so large in my life. Because we are just passing through. We couldn't take anything to go or I would've definitely took the 3/4 of salad I couldn't eat home. So, food was delicious And atmosphere was great. The beers were excellent. A lovely stop in a cute area in town. Cheerio

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and sat outside with our pup. It was a very sunny and warm day but the tables have umbrellas and the breeze made it very pleasant. It's one of those places you order at the counter and they deliver it to your table. We ordered fried green tomatoes, a Caesar salad and a garden salad with grilled chicken. They do offer a variety of beers and limited wine. The food and service were good.

Yelp
Welcome to the show. Ocmulgee Brewpub was lovely. Food was reasonably priced and tasted scrumptious, the environment was open with big tables and high visibility tvs, and the service was top notch. Food came out quick, and the managed, Brandon, was always checking on every table, refilling drinks and sauces himself for no additional cost. Nothing but love, KG

Yelp
Super busy! Apparently, graduation was happening at a nearby university. We managed to secure a table though. I was super happy to see a vegetarian options among all the meat heavy selections on the menu. They also make their own beers and serve in house. I tried two - an IPA and lager. Both quite good. I loved the downtown feel of this neighborhood! Fun to walk around and people watch:

Akilah A.

Yelp
Good but not the best ever considering the long wait, packed house and award markers on the windows outside. I might need to order a different burger to give a better judgement, unfortunately we live 2+ hours away and they only had this one chance to make an impression. Also, I was excited to try the buffalo fries but they are underwhelming. Nothing was terrible but just doesn't hit the spot for a 5 star rating. It is a good family outing location - low key. I didn't stay and eat inside because we are in a pandemic and there were way too many people in there! Whenever I return to Macon for a visit and I'm in the mood for a burger, I'm definitely going to give them another try.
google avatar

Demor'a B.

Yelp
My coworker and I stopped in for lunch on 02.16.22 on the way to Forsyth for training. The pub has a very clean, open modern design and also has outdoor seating. The ordering process is more fast food but you're given a number and a server brings your order to the table. I had the River Creature Crab and Lobster burger with fries and Truffle Aioli. I'm a fry girl and these fries were great and dipping sauce is always a perk! Service was fast and friendly. My coworker had the Ocmulgee Burger and loved it! If you're in the area give it a try!

Yelp
We were wanting to find a unique lunch spot on our way home from vacation. This place was not far off the interstate, located in downtown Macon. It was easy to find and easy to find parking. I'm sooo glad we stopped in. The place was large and practiced all the social distancing rules with servers wearing face masks, sanitizing all menus and surfaces, etc. The burgers were incredible. Fresh and high quality ingredients used. Even the fries were all handcut and cooked well. I had the Red Hot Love burger with a house salad substituted for fries. The burger had pimento cheese, pepper jelly in a brioche bun that so so fresh and soft. Hubby had the Swamp-house Burger which is a crab and lobster cake on the bun. There was so much meat in this patty. The kids opted for the regular house burger and it was delicious too. You can't do wrong here, if we didn't have to continue our drive a nice cold brew they make in-house would have been perfect!

Yelp
After visiting The Big House and Capricorn recording studios, had to get some late lunch. The Brewpub sounded good on Yelp and was close, so we stopped in. Wide open, order at the counter and had some delicious craft brewed beers. Ordered the Patty Melt and a Cream Ale with onion rings and sipped on my beer until the burger came out, which was quick, and it was huge! Perfectly cooked, almost too big to finish, and the onion rings were excellent. The service was friendly, had a nice crowd for late afternoon and when I'm back in Macon, will definitely stop back.
google avatar

Lily G.

Yelp
Always a good experience here. The guy at the counter suggested a honey beer and it's definitely one of my favorites from now on. I got the juliette burger with fries and had plenty left to go for dinner later. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting macon!

Rob M.

Yelp
Great food. Had the fried pork chop sandwich and it was amazing. Great bartender with local beers.

Yelp
I stopped here on a road trip heading north and then came back when I went south again because it was so good! It's a bright and welcoming atmosphere with very friendly staff, and the food we had was all excellent. You can build your own burger with a wide range of toppings and sauces, but they have some tasty menu options I wouldn't have thought of myself, like the Eat a Peach. I especially appreciate that they have a vegan burger and carry vegan mayo - the vegan in our group was satisfied!

Yelp
7.17.20: Patio dining on a Friday with a friend - can't beat it! We came here for their tried & true Ocmulgee Burgers. Mine with a side Caesar & my friend's with an order of Truffle fries. Both of us went out on a limb to try their Diet Mexicane cola even though we're Diet Coke die hards! Their colas are sourced by American company, Maine Root. Maine Root's diet version is sweetened with sucralose, an artificial sweetener, similar to aspartame, but apparently not as "bad." We thought Maine Root's was good but different. Burgers on point. I loved the presentation/taste of my Caesar esp with baked asiago cheese crisps vs. croutons. My dining associate delighted in her first EVER order of Truffle fries! Her review: nice and light subtlety of Truffle Oil + Parmesan cheese sprinkle overlay and additional yumminess of Truffle Aioli side sauce. Thanks to OBP wait staff/counter crew for answering questions and providing fabulous service! Covid19 Safety Protocols: Signs on door request diners wear masks inside but it is not enforced. We wore our masks inside to order. No other diners inside wore masks - yes they were eating so...Employees wore masks & gloves. Social distancing marks were noted on floor as guides. Only four stars b/c we didn't try any of their famous beers/hard ciders & that's the gist of this joint! As always: next time :)

Yelp
Absolutely the best fried shit I've ever had. I could feel my arteries closing just looking at it.

Yelp
Excellent burger, perfect fries and amazing onion rings!!! It's super busy so you might have to share a table especially on a Saturday.

Yelp
Came here at 6 on a Friday evening. Parking was on the street (metered) but it was pretty easy to find a spot (it looked like it got more difficult as it got later though.) I met up with some friends from high school. The inside was large and very clean. All of the employees were very friendly. When you walk in, you can grab a menu and then find your seat. Or you can go straight to the bar to order a drink. You order your food (you can order your beer at the food counter if you want it to come with your meal) at the back and they will bring it to you. I was a little sad that I wasn't very hungry because all of their burgers looked amazing. I got the truffle fries though and they were DELICOUS! Would definitely get them again. I'm not a big beer drinker but this is where my friends wanted to go so I ordered a custom made flight for $10 (I got to choose the 4 I wanted to try.) Some of them I really enjoyed but others I did not...however, I thought it was super cool to sample so many at a relatively low price. I had a great evening here and would definitely return. Ps. The Pineapple beer was my favorite!

Puff D.

Yelp
Excellent Service, creative yet classic burgers, also not sure why but their draft beer tastes a bit brighter than other places in macon. Got to sample the new brunch menu and it is to die for.
