If you’re looking for great authentic Irish food, this is the place to go! I’m always impressed by the food when I go! And I leave satisfied! This time we tried the two mocktails on the drink menu and you couldn’t even tell they didn’t have alcohol in them! They were delicious! We also got the Irish nachos because their homemade chips are the best!! If you’re in the area and hungry, make sure you stop in!

Food tasted great. The live Irish music was an unexpected treat. The service was a bit lack luster for how few people were there. Not a busy sunday night and our waiter checked on us once. The food while very good took awhile to get to our table. Observed several tables get food before ours even though we were seated before them.

This may be the most delicious food I have ever eaten in my entire life. I forget the name of what I ordered, but it was a sampling of 3 different dishes. Sincerely remarkable. Our server was Linden. He was lovely.

Google
Had a great experience here last Sunday. We stopped for here dinner after the lions game. We had the Irish nachos, the Celtic Ruben, and the waygu bacon cheese burger. Everything was phenomenal, such good food! Our server was very polite and attentive. I'd love to visit again! Loved the live music!!!

Ethan at O’Connor’s is seriously amazing and the kind of person who makes the whole experience better just by being there. From the start, he’s friendly, easy to talk to, and genuinely cares about helping you out, not just getting through the interaction. He really listens, knows his stuff, and explains things in a way that actually makes sense without ever feeling rushed or pushy. No matter how busy it is, his attitude stays positive and he always makes you feel welcome and taken care of. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in what he does and goes the extra mile because he wants to, not because he has to. O’Connor’s is lucky to have him, and he’s absolutely one of the main reasons people keep coming back.

Google
Great atmosphere, what I would imagine a tavern in Ireland would look like. We stopped in for dinner while visiting for a wedding. We both had fish & chips. Pricing is right. Great coleslaw, fish was good. Not a fan of the fries or tartar sauce. Seating is weird. Staff could be more friendly. Otherwise fine.

Google
I came out on a day they the head chef was off. The kitchen staff put together these incredible dishes. It is great to know that the staff can prepare wonderful dishes in the absence of the head chef. The quality of their food is outstanding! Shout out to Alyssa and Stephanie, floor managers for their assistance. They are both very friendly and helpful. I had the Pub Streak. So good. The gravy was very flavorful. This establishment has been a staple in Rochester Hills for 17 years and is one of the most popular hot spots here. I can see why. Friendly staff, plentiful libation choices and of course the food! I highly recommend and recommend all the dishes pictured in this review.

Google
Second time being here tonight and I did unfortunately witnessed the 1 male bartender being EXTREMELY rude to SEVERAL customers and just over all not friendly and probably shouldn't be a bartender. Maybe the dish pit would be better suited for unfriendly and rude staff. I've been a bartender/bar manager for 10 years and his bar presence needs work. Other than him everything was wonderful and all the other bartenders were fantastic, will return for the yearly trip to see the lights!

Yelp
Always a reliable and solid place to eat! Inside is warm, dark, and welcoming. Staff are always friendly and attentive. They honored the Yelp check in for the donegal chips. Donegal chips are an absolute must! Chips and dip are so good. Be sure to also get the potato leek soup. The crunchy onions on top are the best and the soup itself is creamy. The entree menu is vast and has a little of everything. I went with the blackened chicken Caesar salad wrap with fries. The wrap was a good portion and flavorful. Fries are also yummy.

Yelp
A group of 8 of us met for dinner during the holiday season. We were seated right near the rear entrance, which was very convenient. We had one server, and she was very good; she didn't write down our orders, yet she got everything right. This same group had been here before, a few months ago, and at that time, I had a boxty, which I really enjoyed. This time, though, I ordered the Irish Trinity. I expected some outstanding dishes. Unfortunately, they were just ok. There was way too much salt and pepper in each of them. I only ate part of it & took the leftovers home. To temper the over-seasoning, I added mashed potatoes, and that helped. I believe the others in our group enjoyed their meals. Perhaps I just picked the wrong thing. But, I did like the ambiance and the service.

Yelp
A few friends and I stopped here for an early lunch on a Saturday. The decor is very Irish with warm colors and heavy wood fixtures. The staff were very friendly and helped us make our choices. I chose the special Avocado Toast of the day which was a Michigan Salad. It didn't include lettuce but it did have dried cherries, blue cheese, and walnuts on top of a too thin layer of avocado paste on toast. While there could have been more avocado, the taste was excellent. One of my friends had the salmon and she loved it. It was very fresh and looked good too. She also got the build your own Bloody Mary - they had a huge set up of toppings and mixers you could add to the pre-poured vodka you are given in a large cup. She said it was very good. I'll definitely return - we enjoyed our meals and our visit.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Great bar food! Bar tenders were very kind and we got our drinks and food fast. Menu includes bar food as well as some Irish specials.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
The place was slightly more than half full so no excuse to sit for 25 minutes and not even meet the server let alone get a beverage or place an order. I went to the bar to get drinks and the bartender said I had to wait for a server...so we left. Highly doubt I will return.

Yelp
There are "Irish pubs" and there are Irish pubs. This is an Irish pub in every way that matters. There are places that have an Irish name and slap green paint on the walls, which is okay. But, O'Connor's feels like pubs I visited in Ireland years ago. There's dark wood on the bar, the tables, the chairs, and the ceiling. The only green is in the Christmas decorations. And, decorations are thoughtfully placed. Sorry for taking so much time on the decor, but it really does set the stage for the amazing food. To be honest, the food here is better - and certainly more varied - than most pubs in Ireland. My wife ordered the Salmon O'Connor, which has a gorgeous maple, mustard, and ale glaze coating the surface. The mashed potatoes are beautifully buttery. And, get this: she loved the roasted vegetables. She normally picks at them, then pushes them out of the way. But, there was a wonderful savory flavor that made chomping through chunks of carrots a pleasure. I couldn't decide between a few different things, so I ordered the Irish Trinity. This is a phenomenal way to try 3 excellent classics: Irish stew, shepherd's pie, and chicken pot pie. It's a bargain at $20. I had a bite of the Irish stew, and I thought I could easily have eaten a huge bowl. The beef is high quality, and there are more of those fantastic roasted vegetables. Then, I dug into the charred surface of the mashed potatoes covering the shepherd's pie, and enjoyed a spoonful of lean ground beef and more of those excellent vegetables. I think I actually said "mmmm" when I ate it. I could definitely see myself eating a full serving. The chicken pot pie was the only thing that wasn't flawless. But, after a dusting of salt, I loved it. The square of pastry crust gave a nice crispness to those spoonfuls of chicken and vegetables. And, of course, we got potatoes. The colcannon potatoes have cabbage and scallions mixed in. I loved the extra flavors in the mashed potatoes. My wife liked the regular potatoes better, but she surprised me when she liked these. She normally hates scallions in anything. There was also a huge drink selection beyond Guinness and Irish whiskey, with a variety of beer and mixed drinks. Even though it was busy, the service was excellent. And, the prices were reasonable for how excellent the food is. If this weren't a 45 minute drive, I could easily see this becoming a regular stop. As it stands, I'm trying to find an excuse to drive out this way so I can eat here again.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Service was great, just need to take the Mahi Fish Tacos off the menu or blacken them, very bland and no flavor. Sorry but has the chef even tasted them ? Should have gotten something more Irish and would have been fine .
google avatar

Robert D.

Yelp
They are understaffed, waitress was kind working hard. We ordered nachos and they were fried chips with nothing but loads of nasty melted cheese. We asked to return them for a burger and manager came out and said we are not taking them off the bill. Admits she's doesn't like the nachos but says nothing wrong with them. Terrible customer service. Like our time and money is not worth anything.

Yelp
O'Connor's, located in downtown Rochester Hills, is everything you could want in a staple Irish pub. It's the kind of place that feels like home the moment you walk in, with its classic Irish pub ambiance that's almost picture-perfect. If you go there enough, you'll start recognizing the regulars and getting to know the bartenders by name, adding to that genuine, community feel. The atmosphere inside is cozy and welcoming, just what you'd expect from an authentic Irish pub. It's the kind of spot where everyone seems to know each other, and the staff makes you feel like you've been coming there for years, even if it's your first time. Every time I visit, the service is consistently warm and friendly. The food is just as comforting as the atmosphere. If you're out drinking and need a reliable snack, their chicken tenders never disappoint--crispy, flavorful, and exactly what you need to soak up a few pints. But the real star of the menu is their Irish cuisine. The Guinness Stew is a must-try, with tender pork braised in rich Guinness, served alongside fresh soda bread and honey butter. It's hearty and full of flavor, perfect for a chilly evening. The Shepherd's Pie is another winner--savory, filling, and easily one of the best versions of the dish I've ever had. The Chicken Pot Pie, while delicious with its flaky crust, could benefit from a bit more filling to balance it out. If you can't decide between all these great options, the Irish Trinity is the way to go. It comes with smaller portions of the Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd's Pie, and Guinness Stew, giving you the best of all worlds at a great price. And if you're really hungry, add the Colcannon Potatoes--creamy, buttery, and oh-so-satisfying. To wash it all down, they have a massive selection of Irish whiskey, bourbons, and rye, along with a variety of cocktails. But let's be real--when you're at an Irish pub, you can't go wrong with a classic Guinness. It's the perfect complement to their hearty, comforting dishes. O'Connor's is truly a gem in downtown Rochester Hills, and I love stopping by whenever I'm in town. Whether you're there for a meal, a drink, or just to soak in the friendly atmosphere, it's a place that never disappoints.

Yelp
A fairly mediocre experience was had. Service was slow, food was low quality for the price. I had chicken and husband had a burger.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for drinks on St Patrick's Day and had a lot of fun! Plenty of Guinness to go around. Lively ambiance- enjoyed a cover band and got a little dancing in.

Yelp
O'Connor's Public House what can I say? I looked at the menu and wanted something that wasn't on it. I asked for what I wanted and they delivered. It was delicious and it was perfect. Cass was a great bartender. Did everything I asked for food and shots. I will definitely be going back in the future. This is my new favorite bar in downtown Rochester. It was a really good time and I will never forget the experiences that I had here on a lovely Thursday night good times were had by all what a great atmosphere. Cass deserves a raise.

Yelp
We have not been here in many years. No reason just busy going elsewhere. We are very glad that we stopped in for a beer and a snack. It was happy hour which was very nice. Jeff was very friendly and helped me choose a beer. The appetizers were at a lower price. We ordered poutine and chicken meatballs with blue cheese inside. Nice plate presentation and excellent food.
google avatar

Kiley K.

Yelp
Was pleased this place had pet-friendly outdoor seating in the front and back. We sat at the back patio which was filled with flowers in each corner. The service was prompt and friendly and the chicken and waffles were more unique and flavorful than ones I've had before. The chicken had a little kick to it and the waffles were sugar waffles which was evident by certain pockets of the waffle being much sweeter and almost crunchier than others. It was a nice take on a traditional dish and I'd definitely order it again!
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
I've had a positive experience both times I've been here. I actually can't wait to go back. Despite this place always being packed, I always get a table right away. Service is good. The food has been great! I absolutely loved my Shepard pie. It was amazing and the presentation is very nice! They rotate the hard cider but both times I've come, I've always enjoyed the selection they have. They let me sample a few before picking which one I'd like to have with dinner. On my second visit I got the seafood boxty which was good. My only complain was that the potato pancake was a little salty, but other than that I enjoyed the meal.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Food was good and my husband particularly enjoyed the live music. Nothing more a girl could ask for! Their shepherd's pie comforts my soul

Jerry D.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere and food, when we stopped in for lunch. Their Rueben's, fish sandwich and clam chowder was awesome. Thank you

Yelp
Came in yesterday for the Friday before St Patrick's day. Told us we had an hour wait, turned out to be maybe 15 minutes. Sat quickly, clean table, nice server, good vibes. We all ordered an appetizer each, super good, the Irish Nachos and Pretzel Sticks were bomb. Not my regular spot but defo recommend for the holiday!
google avatar

Sophie R.

Yelp
We came here on st. Patrick's day and it was a very fun atmosphere! The drinks were great but kind of expensive. The food was good too. I have only been here once and it was on a holiday but the waiters were all quick and kind.
google avatar

Jeff T.

Yelp
Stopped in here with my wife and we both ordered their Michigan salads. I went with the raspberry vinaigrette and she had a spicy ranch. We both enjoyed the salads and our waitress was amazing. The restaurant was extremely busy but our waitress was very attentative and the food and drinks came fast. My wife also had an Irish coffee that she really enjoyed. Prices were reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant while visiting Rochester MI.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
See the hostess stand at the back. Leah is waiting on us. Their soup is potato and cabbage today. Free Donegal chips when you check-in. We ordered the Buffalo bleu cheese chicken meatballs to start, a chicken tender salad and a farmer's salad with a 4 ounce blackened salmon. The Buffalo bleu cheese chicken meatballs are quite unique, two big ones too. Filled and stuffed. It's not bad at all. The tender chicken chopped salad isn't too bad. The farmer's salad is okay. Dressing is quite light and decently lemony. Not loving the big chunks of cucumber and tomatoes though. They are hard to eat and need to be cut up to not look like a chipmunk while eating them. I do like the fresh basil in the salad. The food was overall, decent. The meatball was the better part of our meal. The total is $43.96, there's a 2% surcharge for using a credit card.

Yelp
We actually did a search of pet friendly restaurants and this came up as one of those choices. We called first to make sure and you had to sit outside on the patio but the on the phone said that a table just became available and that she would put a reserved sign on it for us. We told her we could be there in 20 minutes. Once we arrived all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating and it was so nice that we were able to bring our dog who was celebrating a birthday!! (Seriously!!) there were other dogs on the patio too and they had water bowls outside for all the pets. Not all of the tables had an umbrella and it was a very hot and sunny day so once a table cleared up we were actually able to move over to a table with an umbrella. We did a Yelp check in and it comes with free Donogel Chips if you buy a beverage. We also ordered Craic fries that I believe get their name from the type of sauce it comes with. It's a basil mayo sauce for dipping. We actually filled up on these appetizers so by the time our main entrees came neither of us could really eat a lot. I got the farmers salad which was kind of a healthy alternative for a salad. My son got the Irish stew and he enjoyed it. We both agreed that the menu looked awesome and we look forward to coming back there and trying some of their other options.

Yelp
First time here. Basically thought on a Saturday, my wife and I would plot a circular course to explore some new places, and O'Connors was the first stop for lunch. She had the pretzel sticks with cheese, garlic smashed potatoes and we split some craic fries. I had the bangers and mash which were delicious. Sausages were full of flavor. The stone-ground mustard was a good accent; not too strong and not too weak. And the honey mustard was also a good fit for the sausage. The mash was lumpy, buttery and full of flavor. Craic fries were seasoned well, crispy and came with a basil mayo. Delicious if I do say so myself. Smashed potatoes were delicious as well. Didn't need any additional seasoning. Those would have paired well with the bangers as well. I would definitely come back for the holy trinity or even a bowl of Guinness stew, which we will be coming back for so. Overall wait for drinks, about 3 minutes. Time from ordering to table service, 14 minutes 22 seconds. Waitstaff was awesome.
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
Really like O'Connors. Great Irish pub atmosphere, good menu with several Irish inspired options that are all really good in my experience there, and a really good beer and whiskey selection. I'm a fan.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Liked the ambiance here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very very good. Started with the Scottish egg. Cooked thoroughly served with a very good side of honey mustard. Good start to the meal. Had the holy trinity which consisted of small portions of shepards pie, Guinness stew and chicken pot pie. The Shepard s pie had plenty of flavor and was amazing. The stew had plenty of big pieces of beef and was very pleasing. The chicken pot pie was very good as well, but overshadowed by the other items. Really liked this this place. Will definitely be back and highly recommend
google avatar

Renaud S.

Yelp
Check out this restaurant, come for the food not the ambience. I love Irish food , so this was a must try since we were in the area. I had the Trio, which consists of Shepherds Pie, Irish Stew, and Chicken Pot Pie. Usually a trio is sample size. But not this one . Bring your appetite. I also added the Irish potatoes which kind of stole the show. The Stew was my favorite, you could taste the Smokey flavor of the alcohol in the gravy . Shepherds pie was good, I have had better. Chicken pot pie was very flavorful. All in all would visit again. Waitress was awesome and her suggestions were spot on.
google avatar

Monique M.

Yelp
Today I tried something different. The seafood Boxty!!! Absolutely good!!! It had salmon, shrimp, crab cake, muscles and scallops. It was really good. It also was topped with a creamy spinach sauce. The veggies were also cooked perfectly. Nice and crunchy with a little chargrill . I sampled the pies also on my friend's plate. All of the pies were absolutely good . They definitely know how to season the food and the service was good as well.
google avatar

Lindsey P.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in years so I wasn't sure what to expect, especially since I really only ever came for drinks or the at patty's day event. Service was excellent and the food was also great!
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
Food: Good stuff Great variety. Allergen friendly options. Would highly recommend. Service: 8/8, Matthew was lovely. Ambiance: Warm, relaxed - incredibly inviting.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
O'Connor's Public House is simply wonderful. The staff is great. The ambience will take you back to that old bar your father used to take you to. Food is better than average, and much better than most bars of this kind.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
This was our first visit and the food was outstanding. We had the Shepards pie and chicken pot pie. Then ended it with the the brownie dessert....we are going to be regulars now. We highly recommend this place next time you go out. Also a shout out to the staff...they really did a great job.

Nate D.

Yelp
Ordered the Irish Nachos and took one bite. Topped with burnt cheese and burnt chips. Asked if we could change it for a burger. Waitress was super nice and was going to exchange but manager came over smelling like 30 packs of new ports cigarettes and said "it doesn't matter if you don't like them we won't take it off your bill. I dont even like them." Never had that experience in my life at a restaurant. First time for everything I guess. This was a table of 7 of us and ordering all food and she would not exchange one item. Terrible customer service.

John S.

Yelp
Ordered nachos and they were gross we asked the waitress if we could switch them out. She said let me get the manager. The manager who is an older lady was rude and admitted she doesn't even like the nachos. She refused to return them and said she would not take them off our bill. We never even asked for a refund just something different that we'd actually like. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service. DO NOT DONE HERE. Terrible.....

Sherri M.

Yelp
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our waitress was really nice. She knew the menu and could answer all our questions. Thanks to her help we all needed up with something amazing, even dessert. The drink selection was also very good. We were in from out of town visiting family. It was all about the light. To me, it was all about the food at this restaurant.

Yelp
Live music on a weekday! Food and drink specials, friendly service, i will be back. The seasoned fries were awesome, everyone left happy
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, better people, amazing service and ambiance. The mood lifts every time I arrive. I appreciate everyone in this establishment and believe everyone should give it a try! Charles A. Kern
google avatar

Jeremy N.

Yelp
Great Irish bar with some great live music on occasions! Initially, we stumbled on this place as we were walking down the street and could hear the music coming through the windows. We stood around a table we could find and ordered some drinks and an appetizers. Their poutine was awesome and I'm typically quite picky on my poutine. The second time we came here, we made sure to start out here since we knew it was going to be good. This was a second time that there was a 90s cover band in the restaurant playing a variety of different 90s hits. We put in a few requests and they played them for us. This time, we spent about two hours here and it made for a great start to our evening. Keep up the great work O'Connor's!
google avatar

Jeremy H.

Yelp
Never in my life have I felt so disrespected at a restaurant in my life. From the time my group and I arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty. Right away the "owner" started attacking us and basically forced us out the door. I can't believe how we were treated - we were simply celebrating a family members birthday with a group of family and friends. Never again will we waste our time and money at O'Connor's. Do yourselves a favor and walk down the street to any of the other establishments - who treat their customers with dignity and respect.
google avatar

Tracy F.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch cause I was in the mood for fish and chips. When I ordered, the waitress was asking when I'd be there because they don't want the crispy fish sitting too long in the container. I have her an estimate and she put the order in accordingly. I forget about coming here and the food is always good. Good service. Noticed that there were some cute handmade cards with names on them on the bar with glasses ready for the patrons favorite beer. Now that's clever and cute! A couple of older gentleman came in and say down at those marked places. Hey I want that! So cute.

Meranda W.

Yelp
Waiting at back for hostess to address us, stood there for 15 min. Very busy place and beautiful pub but the hostess stood there and ignored a line of people while in their phones texting, laughing and snap chatting, couldn't be more than 16 years old by the way they were acting. Unprofessional and frustrating situation.
google avatar

Shunda B.

Yelp
Let me just jump right in - get a salad. I know, i know - how orders a salad a bar type place; well i did. They are BIG - my father even enjoyed himself being the picky eater is. He beg to my mother and of course i had to bring her as well - we all order salad and killed. Honestly i do wanna go back and taste their variety of beers - they have a huge list. I enjoy trying new things. I normally don't return to a place i've already eaten at but here holds a special place in my heart. Staffing was OK and very limited - nothing crazy. It's was more about the food. Happy Eating!!!

Muhammed E.

Yelp
This day's plans did not include O'Connor's Public House, but I am glad my path brought me here. The food was so amazing that I have already planned out my next order of things to try for my next visit! My order: - Salmon O'Connor - Irish Farmhouse Skins Ordering here was a challenge. The menu offers so many foods that look tasty that it left me deciding between three different things: Celtic Reuben, Baked Max & Cheese, and my choice, the Salmon O'Connor. I was so hungry that I was tempted to order all three and skip the appetizer! I was happy with my choice. That Atlantic salmon really was char-grilled to perfection! It was flaky to the lightest touch from the fork, and the flavor was explosive. The Irish Farmhouse Skins was also not my original choice for an appetizer. The Craic Fries had me hypnotized for quite some time. Then at the very last second as I was placing my order, I went with the skins instead. I loved the blend of Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses; there was more cheddar cheese and I was good with that. The sour cream side was the perfect compliment to this potato dish. I highly recommend this restaurant. My next visit will definitely include the Celtic Reuben and the Baked Max & Cheese. I cannot wait!

Yelp
Hosts are sweet and helpful. The manager Jen is absolutely amazing. Food is not your typical bar food. It's phenomenal. Highly recommend

Yelp
Great Irish food and beer. Great portion sizes. Authentic Irish decor. ..........................,,,...:.................:................................

Yelp
Drove in late last night. Was at the bar and some big guy in sunglasses and a leather jacket asked if I knew Sarah Connor? This was a tad bazaar as he seemed a bit robotic. I said this is O'Connor's, and he muttered something about getting to the choppa? Needless to say it was a weird night.
google avatar

Tori M.

Yelp
I'd give this less than one star. The food was undercooked & the manager approached me stating he's "out the cost of the food and was not very warm or helpful let alone caring at all. Whoever made him a manager made a very costly mistake. I was absolutely appalled and he ruined my experience. Very disappointed as I wanted to like it -was the first and last visit.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
food was super good! Shepards pie was 10/10 & the sweet potato fries were very good!!
google avatar

Janessa M.

Yelp
One of the few bars downtown open until two. Had the corn beef which was recommended and it was delicious.

Nadia B.

Yelp
This was my first time at O'Connor's. As I sat down I was told I couldn't be in the bar after 9 without my ID when they had children dining with there family at the table right next to me...oh well. I ended up being able to stay after pointing that out. Turned out to be an average Irish bar. Food is decent, everything is on the greasy end of the spectrum though and slightly on the pricey side for bar food. Service wasn't the greatest... I really wanted to like this place. Maybe I'll go back one day and reserve the table that has a personalized window facing the bar. They had a cool duo playing violin & singing on a Sunday night which was dope!
