"If you’re looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a meal by the sea, this is definitely a must. Access to Ilha Primeira is exclusively by boat (from several embarkation points) and when you disembark you'll be welcomed by a pleasant outdoor wooden deck along with superb hospitality. Chef Gerônimo Athuel's menu revolves around precisely prepared fish and seafood (some of which are matured in a special chamber built inside the restaurant) mainly cooked on the open grill. Dishes featuring on the menu here include matured raw fish with ajoblanco, octopus with a roasted and creamy tomato rice and basil farofa, and boneless fish of the day served with creamy lemon rice. In addition to the relaxed atmosphere, the wonderful sunsets are one of OCYÁ Ilha’s major attractions!" - Michelin Inspector

Getting to the Heart of Rio's Brazilian Soul

"At Ocyá, fisherman-chef Gerônimo Athuel serves sustainably caught seafood on Ilha Primeira, a small island in Barra da Tijuca, accessible only by boat—and at a just-opened outpost right in Leblon."

Great octopus and mussels at a lovely spot by the water. I’d happily eat here again.

On the day of our visit, several cocktails, several starters and several main courses were not available. Disappointing, but still 4 stars from me for a good service, the quality of food and a nice environment, (despite hard and uncomfortable chairs).

Favourite, already one of my favourite restaurants in Rio / Barra da Tijuca. The setting, the staff, the cold bottle of Rose wine and the incredible seafood - all 5 stars. Taking a boat there adds to the adventure and secluded nature of the restaurant. Also the prices are reasonable considering the quality and location. Pair a visit with a lagoon tour for a great day out.

Fresh, delicious food! I’m glad we were able to get a reservation because this place got pretty crowded by the time we were seated. The service was really efficient and the menu options were plentiful. Great prices and great selection.

What an amazing recommendation from our friends. We went for dinner and the scenery was beautiful. We got as starters the sashimi and the octopus and wow, best octopus we’ve ever eaten. And as a main we had their classic fish dish with picanha and was so yummy! Thanks for an amazing evening

Do not miss this restaurant. Best in the area. Take a bot at Barra Shopping an in 5’ you are there. The chef suggestion: sarda fish with banana smash was delicious!

In order to get here you need to take a boat. We parked in a parking lot after the golf club. R$ 20 to park. The boat was R$ 7. The place was infested with mosquitoes, they provided mosquito repellent. They run out of octopus, so I had to order something else with octopus, which only had a little bit. It took a long time for the food to come, 40 min. The food was average. They charge 13% service.

Thanks so much for the wonderful experience. Outstanding fish in an amazing setting and very friendly team. Just don't be in a rush when you come and make sure you add little mangrove tour to see come jacarés
