Tacoma’s Wooden City Restaurant Plots Pizza Partnership With Odd Otter | Eater Seattle

"One storefront over, Odd Otter Brewing—described as one of the city’s top breweries—could host Wooden City’s limited-menu items, including wood-fired pizza, in its taproom at 716 Pacific Ave. on busy nights (Fridays, Saturdays, and trivia Wednesdays) as part of an exploratory food partnership while the restaurant finishes renovations." - Adam H. Callaghan

Google
Excellent selection of quality draft beers. Odd Otter's is not known as a sports bar, but it is an outstanding place to watch a Seahawks game or other local sports game. They have multiple TVs and a good atmosphere for watching your favorite local team.

Google
Odd otter has great beer and phenomenal service, very relaxing atmosphere and fun place to hangout. Gotta try a flight and grab some to go beers. Their ottermelon hefe is delicious and must try their schmoozie! Such a huge fan of this brewery, we've been twice from out of town and each time very pleased! #keepitodd

Google
Great locally owned spot, with a fantastic selection and knowledgeable staff. Don't know what to grab, they offer flights!! Wednesday night trivia, large enough tables for group game night. Food is fantastic, kitchen closes 30 minutes before.

Google
Cute name and cute decor with a few good beers. I’m from out of state but stop here when in the area for past 6 years. That’s the good. The bad is the bartender I’ve had the past few times is not very friendly. I sit at the bar and she just chats with friends or is on her phone. Seems like most of the clientele are same. If you just want a beer and then get on your way this is the place for you. If you are looking for friendly small talk pass it by. Like I said a few good beers but not great. They added some food truck offerings. Conveniently located if staying downtown. Will I stop again next time again when in town. Not sure. So I’m rating as average for now.

Google
We love this little brewery in downtown Tacoma! Dog friendly inside and outside. Nice selection of brews, love their IPAs. Can bring food in or they have a menu from the place next door it can get delivered over. Karaoke on Tuesdays!

Emily F.

Google
Only saving grace for this spot is the restaurant next door. No remarkable beers and certainly nothing I would recommend. Many other places had other breweries to suggest and I wish we'd followed their guidance. Staff was uninterested and engaged very little. Cool decor but sadly a huge miss.

Kacey F.

Google
We love love love the Odd Otter! Aside from their freaking cute logo they have, the beer selection is pretty dang good. They have seasonal beers along with just a legit rotating selection. The staff is always so nice and helpful and the actual place is just really clean and nice and welcoming.

don't worry i'm F.

Google
Really nice bar with friendly bartenders. Great beers and good atmosphere. Trivia was a lot of fun here too!

Yelp
Beers were very good and the bartender behind the counter was very helpful. They offer a military discount which is very nice. Not a huge place inside and they only offer bar top tables. No food but you can order or bring in your own.

Yelp
I stopped by on Saturday early afternoon with a friend and the brewery was pretty empty - the small counter was filled and only one other table was occupied. I mostly stopped by because the otter mascot was too cute. My friend and I tried a pale ale which was light and refreshing. All of the otter decoration were very cute and the bartender at the front was friendly. Also you can buy whatever glasses you want! All in all, a nice stop with a great mascot.

Yelp
Cute place, very mellow with friendly staff and good beer. Great hangout spot! recommended!

Yelp
The beers were amazing and the atmosphere has a relaxing chill vibe. It's definitely a good place to grab a few drinks.

Yelp
Friendly, relaxed, and responsive service. Interesting space with outdoor views as well. Loved the tap list offered a wide variety of creative beers. I think it is a MUST VISIT brewery!!!

Yelp
Great beers. They have 16, 10 and 5oz pours and flights available. Since it was our first time, we got a flight. All the beers were drinkable but 3 out of 5 were really good. The brown ale Odditea was very rich. The Code Orange was hoppy enough for an IPA lover. And the Ottermelon was refreshing and not weird. The other 2 selections were fine but not the style of beer we usually love. Definitely would keep drinking these beers. Only negative (maybe) is they don't have food right now. You can bring in your own food though and there is a GREAT pizza place down the block that has slices for sale (Apizza). Service is friendly. Seating is typical bar type tables. You can see their brewing vats.

Yelp
They reopened February 1st! New owners! Same delicious beer! This is my dad's favorite spot so when we saw they reopened, we went on down! We got to meet the new owners and chat with them, seem like some cool dudes. We're excited to have Odd Otter back in Tacoma and look forward to where the new owners will take it!

Yelp
Now serving food!!! The Italian was great! Don't waste your money on the potato salad:(. It's purchased from Costco.

Yelp
Odd and Ottery this local brewery is one that will make you a regular the moment you step in, from great service to great beer and then some. Being from out of town I've never felt more welcome at this amazing all-inclusive spot in the thick of Downtown Tacoma. This women, veteran and lgbtq owned as well as friendly semi-karaoke speakeasy, trivia tavern and embodiment of all things amazing has Karaoke several nights a week including Tuesdays and Thursdays with the handsome talented Pablo. Aside from the amazing variety of craft brews Odd Otter has some stylish guest brews on tap (like the Bourbon Barrel Cherry Cider via Tieton Cider Works) not to mention plenty of non-adult brews for non-drinkers and craft enthusiasts with families. I even saw they've done a kiddie karaoke day during the week. Mariel, a regular here has some amazing vocals and was really sweet. I heard great things about one of the owners Karen here from lots of regulars and can see a lot of love and care go into this way more than a Brewery spot. The Winterface 2021 Winter Ale, Nordic Otter Hazy IPA and Ottermelon Hefe are among my top favs... though I did see the word flight pop up on their menu board so might have to rethink my sampling experience my next time I'm in Tacoma, which might be a little more frequently. OOB also has amazing merch for sale and home brewing kits if you're a beer lover or open to experimenting. Ate a huge meal before we stopped in for a karaoke Tuesday, however saw they have a solid variety of bar food menu desirables such as wood fired pizza w/ a vegan options, appetizers and more... insert smiley devil emoji w/ yum emoji next to angel halo emoji here Lots of theme-y days and nights, amazing brew crew and plenty to enjoy and do. Check-in for a nice cheers-ful surprise.

Yelp
This place has the feel of a great local spot. The staff were friendly, they had Motown playing so you I had to hit the high notes on all the Marne Gaye songs. I got a stout and shared a flight. The stout was on point. Tasty and hit the spot. This is the type of brewery that you arrive when you're reading to fight crime all while enjoying a cold one. Will return in my next visit
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Before catching our flight back home, my husband and I stopped in Tacoma to try one last brewery - Odd Otter caught my eye because of their cute little otter logo. Odd Otter is a cool spot right on Tacoma's main street. We visited right when it opened on a Tuesday and it wasn't very busy. The bartender was super nice, even recommending restaurants for us to visit while in the area. For drinks, I got the Bean Machine Coffee Stout (I love coffee stouts) and it was sooo delicious. I believe my husband got an IPA and he as super satisfied with that as well. Great spot, definitely recommend for beer if you're in the area!

Yelp
my absolute FAVORITE brewery !! i moved away for 2 years & thought about it all the time they have a great selection of beer & ciders! u can also order from the restaurant next door & they have the best margherita pizza i've ever tried & the fries r really crispy ! i believe they also do theme nights& yoga classes on specific days ! def come check this place out u wont regret it! the only thing that does kinda suck is the parking cuz it's in the downtown tacoma area

Yelp
I don't always go to Tacoma, but when I do I like to make sure I bring my growler with me and stop by Odd Otter. My original review was in 2015 and this is a place that I still come to! Lots of beers on tap to choose from! Not sure what you want? No problem! They have super cute tiny replicas of the beer can glasses (which you can buy, for $6!) that allow you to try some things out before making a commitment. Beertenders are always awesome! Super friendly and prompt service every time, no doubts about that. Things are finally opening up again and you're welcome to sit and chill! They also offer their products in cans for take home. Lots of styles on the taps to choose from - definitely give them a try!
google avatar

Aubrey L.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of otters so when I was driving by this place while visiting Tacoma it was a no brainer! Delicious ciders as a non-beer fan, and everyone was so friendly! We took advantage of their board games and hung out for a while. Quite a fun souvenir too as I bought a shot glass!!
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Grabbed a beer here while waiting for a table across the street. Friendly service and decent beer. It was a little pricey though! Appreciate that it is a real "restaurant" feel versus the warehouse brewery trend of late. Pairs really well with the other offerings on Pac Ave in Tacoma.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
I can't say anything besides I love this place. I live in Texas, 2,267 miles away. When I find myself in the area, I have to go and visit this outstanding brewery. I absolutely fell in love with their stuck at home saison. Every time I am forced to leave the immaculate area this beer is brewed and distributed in, I make sure my suit case contains at least two six packs of their seasonal beer. I have made trips, not to see family, but to go visit this brewery and enjoy this beer. Honestly, the beer helps with the family visits. So if you want to figure out what made Fat Thor so fat, stop by. Only your waistline will hate you for it.
google avatar

Alan K.

Yelp
I'm sad that I didn't get my $1.50 off if I had just did a Yelp checkin. This is a quaint brewery in the heart of Tacoma. I ordered a flight of beer which you can choose from a flight of 4 beers or 6 beers. I ordered the 6 sampler because I am a lush. Anyhow, the staff was extremely friendly! I tried a couple of beer samples, but definitely the most tastiest ones were the ciders. I liked the Lav Honey Cider and the Blood Orange Cider. This place is military friendly and offers military peeps a pretty good discount for patronizing "Odd Otter."
google avatar

Erik Y.

Yelp
What a cool spot. If you're looking into reviews for this place, just go. My wife and I drove up for an event nearby the next day, and wanted to pop into a local brewery and check it out. While we're been to Tacoma before, we're not familiar with the area at all. It was a very entertaining place to people watch and just hang out. We usually sample a bunch of beers when we're out pub scouting, but we liked the first two we ordered so much, we pretty much stuck when them the whole time. A friend in Seattle was able to come over and hang out for a bit, and it was just genuinely nice to be able to hang out on a busy patio when a friend, pints, and our dog and just relax after a very long couple of days. The place was very busy, but not overcrowded, if that makes sense. The staff was very welcoming, and the patrons were varied and all enjoying themselves. There wasn't really anything not to like.
google avatar

Nima P.

Yelp
Cute spot, cute logo, great hef! The bartender wasn't Uber friendly but maybe just a quieter person. Oh also they give first responders, military, nurses, etc a discount
google avatar

Bansari S.

Yelp
Normal, average brewery on the 6th ave area. It's good, they always have good cider options. We love their military discounts and they have the nicest staff here! They are good with recommendations, suggestions and conversations.
google avatar

Meagan G.

Yelp
Came for the beer, returned for the beer. This is an awesome little joint in the heart of downtown Tacoma. They have an array of regular scheduled events ranging from ladies night to trivia. We try to make it for trivia every Wednesday-- a very packed house on trivia nights! Great brews and friendly service. We take all of our out of towners here.
google avatar

Alicia J.

Yelp
So good! The chai brown, the ottermelon hef, and the Nelson hazy were amazing. Food comes from next door. The stuffed pepper was incredible, the veggie pizza was excellent.
google avatar

Cross S.

Yelp
Nice little place in Tacoma. My wife had a beer which she loved. We order a pizza and chicken wings that you can order at the pub but comes from next door. Not to mention great live music. We will come here again!

Brad R.

Yelp
Beer was solid and server was very nice. Location is super niche, indoor and some outdoor spots. Wife loved her cider and my IPA was good also. Note-no food served any longer
google avatar

Alisa W.

Yelp
Love this brewery! It was so nice that dogs were allowed in. Great beer! I came when it was open mic night and that was super cool to see. This place always you to order in food from somewhere in the area and bring it in. What a great idea!
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Friendly folks, nice range of beers, and great people watching if you choose to sit in front.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
Maybe I came on an off night, but this wasn't good. I tried their "Shmoozie Series" Tart Ale (Blackberry Plum Pie). It tasted watered down and not very sour. I also sampled their "Ottermellon," which is supposedly a signature. It also was quite watery and actually a bit flat. They've clearly grown in recognition in the area over the past few years, and maybe are starting to rest on their laurels. I also found the prices ($8 for a 16 oz pour the former) to be on the pricey end. I might give them another shot, but I really did expect better.

Kayla C.

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time after trying their Fluff'n Otter beer elsewhere. Was sad to hear it was no longer being made as it was my absolute favorite all time beer alone with my dad's. Did get to try their imperial stout and it was still pretty good though. Would come again, but really wish they'd brew the Fluff'n Otter again. It was a big hit at another pub that I used to go to as well.

Karen P.

Yelp
Nestled in downtown Tacoma. There is plenty of street parking. Unlike other breweries, this place has an indoor sitting area during winter! It has all the charm you are looking for. Brick walls, arches, old wine barrels, oh and good beer too. I had a flight and while I was looking for a dark beer, I ended up with the Lavender Honey . Their music too was such a nice vibe if you're into alternative rock and 2010 jams. COME HERE. If you're hungry, they also have food options from their neighbors. It smelled delicious.
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
Odd Otter Brewing is casual and relaxed, you drink your beers at one of the long wooden tables. Nothing special but right up my alley. I've only tried the Ottermelon and it is amazing - the perfect summertime (or an all-season post-run post-exercise) beer. I like darker beers but was told that the Ottermelon was their award-winning beer so I had to give it a try and it did not disappoint. I ended up getting two pints of it (instead of trying something else) because it was just that tasty. When I go back, I plan on buying a growler of it.
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
Love the staff, love the beer. A flight is always a good option since they usually have so many different, changing beers and they always have a non-beer option on draft too. Some of the employees allow dogs (which I think is awesome) even tho I guess the manager doesn't want them to lol; I've met many a new furry friend here. If you and your date/group like beer this is a great place to start a date/group dinner. The Matador and Thai Pepper, both across the street, have great food and Matador especially has lovely date ambiance. Enthusiastically LGBTQ friendly. Cheers!
google avatar

Alice F.

Yelp
Great beer and seltzer. Nice outdoor seating. Bring your own food before 4 pm. Friendly beertender.
google avatar

Larry H.

Yelp
Great friendly bar, good beers on tap. Great location downtown with lots of restaurants to choose from as well.
google avatar

Mildred R L.

Yelp
What a cute fascinating brewery, it's neat inside and out. Even though I was there in the evening I can see my husband and myself enjoying a cold beer or cider outside in the summer. This brewery is owned by veterans. They do so many events to help out the community and those in need. They have fun activities like live music, karaoke and trivia. They also have specials for military and their spouses everyday. There's trivia night, ladies night and fun contests. For you yoga lovers they currently have Yoga + Beer on Saturday mornings. They give so much to the community and make their brewery such a welcoming place. Their tasty beer will have you wanting to visit often. They have hard cider available, which I hear is delicious. The brewery is very unique and the building has so much history behind it.
google avatar

Marsha S.

Yelp
You really Otter stop in here for a beer if you are in downtown Tacoma. It's a cool space, though the actual bar space is pretty limited. We tried several of their beers, but the favorite was the Notteronsense IPA. No food service here, but you can bring food in, and at least one place delivers. Lots of close-by restaurants to choose from. Even if you don't like beer, you need to get a t-shirt.... cutest logo ever!!
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Prices are too expensive place used to be great they used to have the best people working here.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Atmosphere is cool and customer service is good. We got checked in quite a bit so that was nice. They have rotating ciders and a small selection of beers to choose from. I wish they would post the ABV% for whatever they have on tap. They do not serve food, but you are able to bring in your own or do takeout/delivery from a nearby restaurant. We got takeout from the Matador across the street.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Great cider and a great atmosphere. I really like the variety of ciders and the look of this place. The location is nestled next to a bunch of great restaurants and other bars. When I was there last, I got a cider flight and was very satisfied. I even bought one of the small glasses that come with the flight. If you like cider, I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Jack T.

Yelp
These guys have some great bears. The only one that stood out that I didn't care for was the winter ale but hey to each there own. I will definitely be back and would recommend this to others.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
We headed downtown for dinner the other night and had to wait quite a while, so popped in to the Odd Otter to check it out. They had several beers and ciders on tap and They have the option of 5 oz, 10 oz, and 16 oz. I love the fact that I can get a smaller glass or try a few. I had two different ciders and they were both fantastic. The employees were very friendly and would let you taste anything that was available, as well. They have a limited food menu, but I would certainly come back and check it out. There was live music and it was a really chill, kicked back vibe, which is important to me. Great experience. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Otterly fun! ._. Its ott(er) to think I have not come into a such a cute brewery. (Ok I'm done.) Let's see if I can write the shortest review of my life. (Otter Jesus, give me strength.) Let's otter dive into this brewery! Atmosphere: Walking in, you're smacked with some amazing ac! (And trust me, I was sweating more than a raccoon trapped in a sauna!) The place is covered amazing classic portraits of art that have been replace with an otter theme spin. (Its all i stared at, while I was in there. [Which there was one next to a group of people and it looked like I was a homeless person that go in by surprise and stared at them for change.]) There is a bunch of merch to buy as well (I successfully not buy anything but the urge was there.) Everything is subtle but calming. Which made for a really "chill" (without the Netflix) environment. Customer Service: Was faster than an otter swimming to find his lucky pebble that fell off his pouch! Indeed friendly environment for everyone. (That's 21and over lol) The staff seemed very informed of everything on tap an in stock. Which was astonishing. (Given the fact I cant remember where I placed my favorite toe socks!) Beer: For being locally owned and having an epic name, *long pause* It was great! The sample is a great way to get the tour for flavor town of there beers. (Great way to get really drunk, if you're a light weight like myself. From the taste of all the little glasses the container of sampler had. I could say I came with the conclusion that this beer is exceptionally made for the gods. Conclusion: With a cute kick butt theme, amazing service and exquisite taste in beer. You would have to otterly crazy not to come in. :3

Yelp
Located near the corner of Pacific Ave & 8th St in downtown Tacoma, Odd Otter Brewing is a great place to try some craft beers with friends. The exposed brick walls give off a cool, hipster vibe. Recommendations: 1) Try the Ottermelon Hefeweizen if you want a fresh crisp beer that is perfect for sunny days. 2) Try the Glitter Bitter Grapefruit IPA if you're craving a smooth citrusy beer. Next time I'm going to try the Screeching Otter Double IPA.

Yelp
Loved it! We visited the area and found this place on google and yelp. Honestly, we chose it based on their logo. Super cool. Great selection of ale. You can order pizza and other food at the OOB counter and the food comes really fast. Also, should be noted there's a lot to do in the area that's walking distance. Elks Temple, Matador, Naturopathic office, etc.
google avatar

Syarifa C.

Yelp
Odd otter is located in downtown Tacoma, providing a good selection of beers and ciders, with a laid back vibe that makes it easy for any kind of party to grab a drink and unwind. Although they don't provide food, you can order to go from any of your favorite local food joints and eat there! Definitely a spot that deserves a reoccurring visit!
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Mmmhmmm yummy yummy!! Bartender was super nice. Outdoor seating or plenty of room at high top bars if that's more your style. In the middle of downtown and a cool place
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
Love this brewery! I visited here with my mom right before Christmas and we had a lovely time. We both had taster flights. I really enjoyed the barley wine- it was the perfect mix of flavors! I also loved the peach cider, which was light and crisp. While the beer was great, I was also pleasantly surprised by the fun holiday decorations! The Odd Otter was selling holiday t-shirts and pint glasses along with their other souvenir products. They also had red and green paper chains around the bar and the whole place had a festive feel! I'll definitely be going back to the Odd Otter when I'm back in town!

Pamela K.

Yelp
So happy to see Odd Otter open again! Ottermelon tastes even better than I remember. I love all the otter artwork. This is one of my favorite breweries in Tacoma.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
Such a great find! We were just meandering around Tacoma and stumbled upon this place for a mid-Sunday brew. It's got a smaller seating area but enough that they host painting parties with beer (obviously). Their beer was also AMAZING. I had a watermelon beer (I can't remember the brew style anymore...argh) but it was the second-best beer I've ever had in my life mostly because I love watermelon sooooo much. The group I was with also commented on how great their beer was too so I don't think it was a one-hit-wonder kind of thing. It also seemed that though they don't have their own kitchen, that you can order food from next door and they will bring it to you if you so desire. They are also very true to their name and have otter artwork EVERYWHERE which was super cute and fun!
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
Fun, happy little beer spot. The bartender always takes care of us. They have fun revolving taps, and usually a guest cider or two. Their signature is the Ottermelon hefe". It's my favorite. Discounts for first responders, military, and medical personnel.
