A ‘Coming Soon’ Sign Appears at Superiority Burger - Eater NY

"Rabid superfans of Superiority Burger: Get your camp-out tents ready, because any day now the team may be opening its doors. The restaurant, which is relocating to the former home of neighborhood staple Odessa diner this season, put up “coming soon” signage this week, according to EV Grieve. In recent weeks the restaurant has hinted at the new menu posting desserts, tea sandwiches, and hippie wraps. The restaurant will be much bigger than the original outpost on East Ninth Street. “I find it completely beautiful — the soda counter, the satellite bar, the cash register station. I don’t plan to change it at all,” said owner Brooks Headley in an interview with Grub Street back in 2021." - Emma Orlow

What a great old fashioned diner! Stopped here for a meal while traveling. We visited on a Sunday and we were delighted the restaurant offered all day breakfast. The food was great. The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was adorable. My husband had the breakfast burrito, my daughter had pancakes and home fries, and I had the 2x2x2.

Great diner with a cozy vibe, top-tier food, and absolutely outstanding service from Tiffany. We came in for breakfast and got way more than we expected. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and Tiffany made sure we had everything we needed—before we even knew we needed it. That’s elite service. Scoring time: 10/10 for Tiffany’s legendary service 9.5/10 for food (Breakfast Quesadilla slapped) 9.2/10 for diner vibe and overall atmosphere Total: 28.7/10 ≈ 287% This whole experience was 287% better than expected. If you’re in Delaware and not stopping by Odessa Diner, you’re doing breakfast wrong. Ask for Tiffany — 287% satisfaction guaranteed.

I’m been going to this diner with friends for several weeks. Every time I go I have to ask for a to go box because I have recovered from esophageal cancer with consequences. I’ve lost portions of my stomach, large portions of my esophagus, and suffered from a fistula between my esophagus and lung. I spent 93 days in Sloan in NYC undergoing two major surgeries and multiple procedures that saved my life unexpectedly. The surgeon gave me a 30% chance of survival but I beat the olds and survived. That was in 2021 and I am cancer free. Now for the good part about this diner: We always go on a Sunday morning and since I can’t eat much at all, I decided to take a chance and order soup at 8:30 in the morning. As expected, soup was not on the menu that early. However, my waitress said she’d talk to the cook and see what they can do. She returned with a cup of the best chicken noodle soup I’ve ever had in my 73 years. Not by a little bit. That soup was truly awesome. The staff was excellent and acted as if they were family. Weeks ago the owner came to our table and gave me a hug to welcome me. I highly recommend this diner. I will be going back often. Hope to see you there. This is a ten star diner.

Amazing food and obviously made with love. Got the special which was a chicken sandwich with spinach, roasted peppers, provolone cheese on toasted sourdough. Side of soup and fries the soup was split pea and ham and definitely home made. The waitress said the chef makes all the soups fresh daily. Overall a great spot to stop at on our way down to deleware

Went here today with my pastor to get some lunch and it was great! Got me a cheddar cheeseburger and mozzerella sticks. The mozzerella sticks were pipping hot and tasted amazing, best mozzerella sticks I've had in my life, genuinely. The burger tasted wonderful and was cooked exactly to my liking. The coffee was outstanding. The waitresses were very nice and the service was satisfactory. Will be coming back to try the breakfast menu!

This is a nice local diner with a retro diner look. They have booth, table, and counter seating. Plenty of menu options and food is good. I’ve only gone for breakfast food but saw others with lunch dishes that looked good.

We were immediately seated, order placed and food was at our table in 7 min. Everything was delicious. The waitress was friendly and offered suggestions. The door was constantly rotating. Very busy diner. That in itself says a lot.

Stopped in with my parents on our way home from a trip. We just wanted a quick diner lunch. Even though the place was packed, the staff were very kind and quick. Though it was lunch time, nothing on the lunch menu spoke to us, so we ordered breakfast. Pancakes were very yummy, eggs over easy cooked perfectly, bacon just right amount of crispy, and the hash browns! I rarely finish them whenever, wherever, I get them, I don't know what it was but they were delicious- gone. The decor is kitchy fun, and again the staff are just lovely. Never felt rushed, good amount of parking. Would stop here again.

Yelp
Stopped in for a treat breakfast. Ordered plain old scrambled eggs and sausage, toast, grits, coffee. It was ok. Served very quickly. But the eggs were dry, the flavor of the sausage was very mediocre and the coffee was just ok. The ketchup is not Heinz. I know, ketchup, how very not classy of you, but I like it on eggs and it should be Heinz or nothing. I think this was my problem; I can taste the quality of ingredients and these all were just...ok, not great. It's getting expensive everywhere, so I'd suggest to order something like pancakes or french toast or a filled omelet because the plain type of breakfast isn't very special and you may lay down $20 by the time you tip the waitstaff. So make it special. I wasn't impressed but I'll give it another try sometime. This classic location has been on Route 13 for decades and was several iterations of "very subpar-local-spot with shady motel" until the current owners buffed it all up. They're doing a decent job and are open Wed-Sun. The parking lot is often full, so they've captured the local hearts. But not mine, yet.

Yelp
$7.50 for a scrapple, egg & cheese sandwich with home fries. Not the best made sandwich but I felt like I was thrown back in time. I swear I saw my mom's old maroon station wagon. Very good stop. The hostess was great.

Yelp
The newest owners are doing a consistently awesome job this last year. Two? Our favorites are the Swiss burger, crab soup, Mac & cheese, and Caesar salad. The French fries are perfect. The chicken fingers are yummy but the kids portions we get for our kiddos are so similar to the adult portions- the pricing or portions could be changed on this. Waiters are friendly and prompt, and the place is clean and cheesy cute. We're so happy to finally have a great local diner. We've been trying it for 5 years and were greatly disappointed by the first two sets of owners- the food used to be so sadly underwhelming so we're happy with whomever took over this little gem!

Yelp
Everything I wanted a diner to be! The best turkey BLT I can remember, fries were perfect too. Service was prompt and very nice. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick and delicious meal.

Yelp
BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE! We've been here many times, but after this visit, we're done. The server was great, and the salads were fine, but we were told they were out of the dish we ordered after we had our salad. We understand that can happen so we reordered, only to see customers who came in AND ordered after us get the dish that was "out". When we asked, the server explained that she was told to tell us they were out of the item and have us reorder, though our order HAD been placed first. She was clearly upset, and it was obvious the owner put her in a tough spot. VERY shady, especially since the other table seemed to be friends with the hostess. We canceled and left -- this is NOT how a business should be run.

Yelp
I wonder if the Greek owners are still involved. The female staff is very very rude and not accomodating. It is not a good place for Seniors who may need a few more minutes, have questions, or have even a slight disability ie a hearing impairment. The food may be decent, but the staff in lacking in patience and customer service. Not a pleasant experience anymore and we've been customers for many years.

Yelp
I am a weekly customer. I stopped in on a Sunday night. I arrived at 730pm knowing they close at 8pm. To my surprise I was met at the door by the door by the hostess telling me they were closed. I asked her if she knew it was only 730. She said we are closed. Realizing her "error" she offered to let me in. This has always been a very good place to myself and family members I have recommended. No more after this. Obviously closing the restaurant early is more important than customer service.

Yelp
I fell on the front steps going into the dining area. The yellow signs adhered to the doors do not enough give enough warning, and no matter how many ppl fall or trip, the owner can't get sued because they're posted. I'd suggest a RAMP or signs posted on the pathway before one gets to the door . I was informed the owner REFUSES to install some type of ramp even though I was told at least ONE person falls or trips per day. WTH? I was also informed an ELDERLY woman with CANCER fell & hit her head was taken to the ambu hospital had to get stiches & the restaurant owner STILL REFUSED to install a ramp or additional signs. Only irresponsible & cheap restaurant owners would not do everything in their power to make sure their establishment is safe & welcoming. I was also told the "handicap" entrance is not accessible- which is against the law. Do better ***My waitress was wonderful- she & a customer were the only ones who helped me. ***The owner's daughter called me as I was leaving the restaurant. She insisted she & her father (owner) tried everything to ensure no one would fall or trip again. She said her hands were tied legally because they didn't own the building & city statutes...blah blah blah However, in my opinion, they didn't try hard enough - if an elderly woman falls, hits her head & has to get stitches and the only thing that's done is to adhere warning signs on the front doors it's definitely not enough. Some ideas: 1.Get a portable ramp that can be set-up in the morning & taken down at night. I believe they're adjustable, so one can adjust them to the length they want 2. Put more signs on the pathway. There is only ONE on the parking area to the right 3. They could get a smaller step & adhere it to the original step with super duper strong velcro or something similar, and, if needed it could be removed Try harder. Do better. Something similar to this should work Houseables Portable Wheelchair Ramp, Ramp for Steps, Portable Ramp, 5 FT, Ramp for Stairs, Wheelchair Ramp, Handicap Ramp, Wheel Chair Ramp, Ramps for Wheelchairs for Home, Stair Ramp, Folding https://a.co/d/grOzoUa Something like

Yelp
Had a really positive experience with a great breakfast at the Odessa Diner. My wife and I hadn't been there in about a year while they were working through some staffing issues. We were very pleasantly surprised with how well run the dining room is, the food is very good, and the wait staff is exceptional and very attentive to their customers. We definitely will be regulars there again!

Yelp
Amazing find on way home from outer banks. Short trek off Rte 1 - service was amazing and food delish. Don't let the full parking lot fool you - it's rather spacious inside. Veggie omelet so good- asked for grilled english muffins and spot on perfect. Great diner coffee to boot!

Yelp
You can't go wrong with odessa diner. Probably one of the best in the area. Don't look like much on the outside, but you'll be pleasantly surprised on the inside. Good food, good service. Have not had a bad meal yet.
