Od's Fish House

This is not a sit down restaurant. There are not many tables inside and it's dark. I bought a bottle of Goya Guava juice and had it ready to drink with this delicious food in the car. I never heard my husband make so many noises while he was eating and smacking his lips... Wow. I could not finish my shrimp and took home that & the mac, seafood salad, and potato salad home. I'll finish the sides tonight. Candied yams were to die for... The fried fish & shrimps were so good hot. The sides were scrumptious and it was like Thanksgiving. Potato salad a little bland so we'll get the fried hand cut potatoes (he showed us!) and fried okra next time! We don't usually eat at American cuisine restaurants except for diners for breakfast, but this food is so good that we'll probably come here twice a month. If this restaurant/carry out was near our home off 39 then the new Cafe Fresco would lose money and everyone would go here instead.

This place save me , i was craving fish and We just love the place , What ever I am going to say ! That would not even be close to how awesome this place is. For my first step in the door the owner greeted me and I told him it’s my first time here he immediately offered a sample of all the sides to try. We love the food and we really enjoyed it. The owner is so nice, and he loves what he does and also loves showing you what is what and just an awesome person. Ofc is not my last time . Highly recommended

OD is a most pleasant gentleman offering samples to 1st timers, sharing many delicious sides, then showing all the scrumptious homemade desserts. The hummingbird cake lives up to the reputation of these reviews and is absolutely amazing. Red velvet, coconut & chocolate iced yellow cake were thickly iced and nicely portioned alternates. I had the $12 portion of fresh cut catfish nuggets and was not disappointed. OD's also makes fresh cut fries and fried okra. I'm sure I'll stop in again when in that part of town. Just Google map it. 🙂

Absolutely great place for your fried seafood needs!! The best I've had in a very long time from any establishment in Harrisburg. OD puts his heart in his food. The passion and taste is there. The old cliche, "the way to man's heart is through his stomach" goes for women too! I so happen to be one of those women! ☺️ Thank you, OD. Your food is great! Immaculate customer service as well.

Od's Fish house is one of the BEST places to go for some good , well cooked fish and he shows you what your getting as well. Food has all his flavor to it that makes it worth coming back every single time. Attention Dont Sleep On This Place !!! Also don't forget to get the lemonade, you won't regret it !

All of the sides were scrumptious too and everything is homemade, so you can definitely taste the quality. And the service was top notch🎣 Upon entering & hearing it's my first time, the owner, Otis gave me a sample of all the sides as he shared the love he had for what he does. He's a kind & humble gentleman who clearly puts his heart and soul into the business (& his food, of course!) Unfortunately, he told me next week 11/24 is their last week open💔 While they've consistently ranked #1 Best Seafood in Harrisburg over the years, they just aren't getting enough customers these days. Do yourself a favor and grab a meal here ASAP! You don't find places like this anymore, so I hope they'll be able to stay open. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted with friendly service and felt very welcomed. It was our first time there so the gentleman working explained the menu to us and let us sample some of the sides. You gotta be confident in your cooking to do that... and he had every right to be. Food was seasoned to perfection. Mac and cheese was done right, greens with cabbage, and green beans were seasoned well. Yams 10/10. I am so glad we found this spot. We will definitely back. I will just mention that if you are looking for a quick meal, you may want to plan accordingly. They cook their food to order and that takes time... but definitely worth it.

Went to OD’s for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my family and we were given a warm welcome by OD and his staff. We were offered various desserts and samples of his food such as candy yams, Mac & cheese, collard greens and more prior to ordering our food. While waiting on our food, he gave us the history of his business along with his family’s and was a delight to talk with. I had the catfish (big size for a great pride), fries and candy yams. Everything was phenomenal and we will be sure to come back!

I give this place 9/10! The fish was cooked to perfection and the hush puppies were succulent. The lemonade was even better. I do feel like the cabbage/greens didn't have enough flavor but everything else made up for it!! You have to give this place a try. The hospitality is unmatched.

I got fried catfish bites Mac & cheese yams & collard greens and they gave me an extra cake the food was so good definitely will be coming here again !! also the price was really good

I was working in the area and had some free time so I stopped in to try it out. To be honest I'm not a big fish eater, but the owner gave me a "catfish" nugget to try. It was delicious! The breading was light and tasty with just the slightest hint of heat. I got the hush puppies and they were unbelievable!! They had a great flavor and were huge!!! Now let's talk about desserts. He had quite the array. I left there with 2 different types of cake - coconut and yellow w/ milk chocolate frosting (I haven't tried yet but smells delicious)!! I would highly recommend going there if you're in the neighborhood!!

Od Fish House is reasonably priced!!! I had a great Sunday dinner (Catfish, greens & macaroni & cheese). I'm looking forward to dessert!!!

Some of the best food I have eaten in my 46 years on this planet! I tried all the sides and they are ridiculously good, the fresh cut fries look amazing. The greens! Really some of the best food I've ever had, not best greens but best food, they were so good. The fish was amazing! I'm going back again to try another type because the first was so good. Like 10-15 homemade desserts!! Everything looked great. Top it all off with the owner being an awesome person, explains the menu, really proud of what he does and just a great dude.

This is a perfect take-out spot if you are hungry for some good food. Everything I ordered was great which included whiting, Mac & cheese, collards, yams and the carrot cake. The owner was more than friendly chatting with us as our food was being prepared. Prices were good. This is def now in my take- out rotation.

Love the food and service here! The fried catfish was perfectly fried with nice spice to the batter. Definitely recommend the fried shrimp, well seasoned with a nice kick. The fam really enjoyed the fresh cut fries and carrot cake too!First timers get a sample of their various sides. Love supporting a local business!

Wow- yams collards and cabbage Mac and cheese fresh cut fries and hush puppies along with tilapia and haddock- the fish breading was the best I've had in a long time, the portions are huge and the owner is so friendly. I forgot to take a picture of the food because when we got home we just started eating and it was gone! Hummingbird cake was also amazing.

Man did a southern girl from Alabama live this place! Hospitality was perfect, loved the choices and food was great! Was super nice and let me sample some of the sides since it was my first time! You can tell he enjoys serving food to hungry stomachs. I definitely will be back!

Nah for real though. This spot is single-handedly worth a trip to Harrisburg. It smells right from the outside as soon as you pull up. Then you walk in and get greeted like family. I was just going to get a fish plate to go, ended up sitting around for an hour eating shooting the breeze. They're friendly, good people and CLEARLY take pride in what they do. They gave me some shrimp and some sides to try...they don't miss . I had my heart set on fish though, so I ended up going with the $14 catfish. Now you can choose from I believe a $12-$20 piece depending on how hungry you are/who all you with. Let me start by saying the fish is perfect, the batter is crispy but light, its seasoned right, tender and a great value for the size you get...and critically, you can tell that oil is RIGHT. The greens will have you sopping up that potlikker with your bread. Mac and cheese, rich, cheesy, with that crispy cheese on top...bussin. Now that seafood Salad, you NEED that in your life, she (sorry didn't catch her name) put her foot in that: big pieces of shrimp, real crab, and that seasoning. Finished the drill with some banana pudding and my eyes were already heavy. I should have got a piece of pie and a slice of that cheesecake, red velvet or lemon cake to go, but next time I'll get right. If you're in the area, it gives you every reason to go, if not it's worth a detour. OD's is THAT spot.

When too O D' today for the first time I was really impressed with the fish I had and I tasted the collard greens and green beans they were really good will be going back for sure Try it you'll like it

If I could give this establishment more than 5 stars- I would!!! We were in town visiting a relative at a nearby hospital and looking to get something to eat. We weren't sure where to go, but we knew we wanted fish. We found this place after a quick Google search and decided to try it out. WHAT A GEM!! As soon we walked up- the smell hit us! My goodness- if you know you know! The customer service & hospitality was AMAZING! This is how you run a business ppl! The owner was friendly and accommodating. He could tell we were from out of town and took the time to show us the menu items as well as letting us sample majority of the sides! I tried some Mac, green beans, collards & cabbage and potato salad! The flavors satisfied my taste buds! We ordered the haddock and whiting. Along with that we got the fresh cut fries, hush puppies, potato salad and cornbread. Everything was fresh and made to order!! DELICIOUS!!! The desserts were homemade. Sweet potato pie, red velvet, hummingbird, coconut cakes and a variety of pound cakes! As our orders were prepared, the owner and hostess engaged in conversation and made us feel so welcome. This is the type of service we long and live for! I wish they were in Jersey! OD's has a customer for life! If I am in the area I will return. If you are ever in the Harrisburg area- don't even think about going anywhere else.....THIS IS IT!!! You will not be disappointed.

About 30 seconds after walking in the door, O.D. asks "are you first timers?" First timers get a sampling of most of his sides, including potato salad, candied yams, baked mac and cheese, and greens with cabbage. So if you're a first timer, say yes! A wide selection of fish is available, and we got catfish, butterfish, crabcake, and lake trout. Everything is fried in a perfectly seasoned cornmeal type of breading - not too much, not too little - which just highlights the fish instead of covering it up. Handcut fries are on the menu too, along with a bunch of homemade (though not by O.D.) desserts. We got banana pudding and red velvet cake, both were very good. O.D. also sells lemonade called Reign & Taij's Homemade lemonade, made and packaged by a couple of local kids, and it's really good too. All of the customers were super nice as well, and I feel like that is reflective of how welcoming and kind the owner is. I can't recommend this place enough. He's closed Mondays to restock the restaurant, and if you go on Saturday or Sunday he requests cash only.

OD's Fish House is a great place, to get good home style cooking. The sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, greens and cabbage are cooked together. The fish selection is remarkable, I got tilapia and catfish, but they have 10 or more selections of fish. If you're looking for good cooking that you will never forget the taste please stop by ODs Fish House. I was supposed to stop by this restaurant four years ago and I apologize to the owner and the chef, for not stopping sooner the sample that was given to me haven't had food like this in decades. Do you want good food with a good taste stop by 1500 Market St., Harrisburg you won't regret it.

We are new to the Harrisburg area, and my husband loves fried fish. We found OD's on Google and decided to take a chance. This is now my husband's "Fish Spot" The fish was fried to perfection, I got Porgies and he got Whiting both with the bone in. All the sides are homemade...Soul Food!!! Yum. Every cake imaginable, made from scratch even Hummingbird Cake. And OD, He is old school wonderful. If you didn't know now you do. Looking for really really good fried fish, Soul Food Sides, and Sweets galore....OD's Fish House is your spot! Oh and we are from Baltimore...we know what good fried fish looks like.

Amazing fried fish & sides and the friendliest service in the world. Awesome portion sizes. Had the whiting, oyster trout, collard greens, potato salad, hush puppies, & honey cornbread. From now on it's a mandatory stop in Harrisburg when I'm passing through.

The flounder was lightly breaded and cooked perfect. The breading on the shrimp was so good with a bit of spice that was yummy. The fries were fluffy on the inside and fresh cut. Greens and cabbage, bury me with them they were so good. We also had a piece of coconut cake, order it and thank me later. Mango lemonade made by some you girls who are going to take over the lemonade world!!

The food was good, but it was a mess inside. They had uncovered food in the refrigerator, grease and oil on the sidewalk (as if they dump it there), food on the counter, and we're serving food on something that looked like a pool table. I decided to eat my food anyway because it smelled delicious (and it was). The owner needs to clean up the fridge,counters, and clean whatever is keeping them from disposing of grease correctly.

The fish was fresh,lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. I've had the mac and cheese, potato salad and collard greens..All are wonderful. I plan on coming back often. Good fish, good people. You can't go wrong here.

Food is excellent I would rate it highly and go back there again. The crabcake is out of the world and those shrimp he cooked to perfection very juicy. Also the catfish is really tasty and crispy good. I had the collard greens and the mac & cheese both complement the meal. The fish looks very fresh and my Dad was a fisherman's fisherman. He is proud of his food and he should be because it was all good! Best seafood I've had in a long time.
