OEC Japanese Express

Went here not too long ago and forgot to write a review. Came after a swim meet, the food was fresh and tasty. I got the sweet potato roll which was really good. The shrimp and carrots were really good. A bit salty, but the shrimp wasn’t too chewy. Roasted veggies were amazing and had a good sauce. Nothing outstanding, but a solid place.

This was our first time visiting O.E.C. It appears that this is mostly a takeout place, with limited seating to accommodate a handful of folks who would like to dine in. We chose to dine in, and we're glad we did. We ordered a chicken hibachi dinner, a steak hibachi dinner, and an OEC roll. The perfectly cooked dinners came with a standard side salad (don't sleep on the ginger dressing) and fried rice. The YumYum sauce is a delicious addition that was brought to the table. The OEC roll had good texture and flavor. Portion sizes were more than fair for the cost, and the vegetables (both in the salad and in the entree) tasted like they had been freshly prepared in house. I realized after ordering that we had failed to order water... and the server brought water on her own when she brought the salads. I never even had to ask, it was just offered. The same with YumYum sauce when I asked for a to-go container for the portion of my dinner I couldn't finish: I was brought condiment cups already filled to add to my bag. I have grown disappointed with eating out over the last few years, either paying too much for low quality service & food, or simply just deciding to eat at home. Even with the dinner rush, OEC was an extremely lovely surprise and we've added it to our (short) list of places we'll happily go back to.

The food can take a while but it's worth it. Also the hostess is very nice and tries her best to make sure customers are happy. I love the hibachi salmon and the hurricane roll.

The best hibachi and nicest staff!! The lady at the front counter is the nicest and has amazing customer service! I’ve been going here for almost 10 years and they never miss a beat.

I must say that I was very impressed by OEC Japanese Express’s sushi! I like that they are made fresh to go and that you can substitute white rice for brown rice, which is good for those looking for diabetic friendly substitutes. While I would’ve liked to receive a confirmation after ordering my sushi online, all in all, I love my Bombey and Canadian rolls! You can’t go wrong with simple and delicious sushi served at reasonable prices. :)

Ordering over the phone is the easiest, but they do offer online ordering if you don't want to wait and order when you get there. Yakimesi (fried rice) is always my go-to with chicken and scallops. The steak is good. I'm not really a fan of the shrimp. They offer a vast variety or Rolls and other traditional dishes. Highly suggested in the Bartlett area.

Coming from St Louis, if you know you know! This place actually has some good fried rice! You know coming from St Louis they have the saint Paul's and some of the best fried rice in the Midwest, but OEC has some good rice too!

Highly recommend this place! The shrimp tempura roll (right) & crunch crab roll (left) are so good & only $4.99 each. The crab rangoon is also delicious and also only $4.99. I looked over the rest of their menu and all of their prices are so reasonable and the lady at the front was super helpful with recommendations. I also recommend ordering through their website, versus food delivery apps (they’re killing small restaurants with fees). The only drawback to online ordering is you don’t get an email confirmation of your order which is weird but my order went through anyway.

This is my first time eating at Oec and let me tell you it will not be my last time. The customer service is friendly and very appreciative towards their customers. I ordered the shrimp , chicken , steak with fried rice . The food was served hot and seasoned to perfection. They also give you a large portion ( enough for 2 servings). I ordered to takeout; however while waiting I noticed they have a extremely nice eat in section which seemed comfortable and clean. If you have not tried Oec you must try it because they have a large menu selection.

I tend to forget about OEC but I was glad I remembered and popped in before heading home. I ordered over the phone the hibachi noodles with shrimp and egg rolls. It only took 10 minutes and my order was ready. The staff is friendly and seem to know their regular customers, which is nice. It is a small cozy place so it is good for small crowds to eat and go. I enjoyed my meal. It was enough for two servings. It was light so I didn't feel stuffed or heavy afterwards. I need to add to my favorite food list.

I have nothing but nice things to say about this place! Inside of the restaurant was clean, ample seating, and the atmosphere was great. Staff members were quick, friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. Ordering was a breeze. We were a group of four and for our table we ordered about 6-7 sushi rolls as well as steak yakisoba and we all came out winners! I mean it. Literally each thing we ordered was better than the last!!! I'd love to come back again and try even more from their menu. OEC is the place to be!!

To say this place is amazing doesn't even begin to describe how amazing it is. This is some of the most cared for fried rice I've ever had. The sushi is also a great part of the restaurant. I have fallen in love with this food every day I come. The workers are also some of the hardest workers I have ever met. The service is top of the line. Every time I come in here I am met with such great kindness. This place truly deserves to be on America's best. I will definitely come back here every single year.

OEC has the absolute best Hibachi in Bartlett hands down!!, the place is always clean and tidy, and the food is off the charts, hot, fresh chicken breast, rice and vegetables grilled to perfection.

Great take-out hibachi. The service is always good. Well worth what you pay for it. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting it's there until I have to go grocery shopping.

My go-to order at OEC Japanese will always be the tornado roll, spicy crab roll, and king salmon roll. OEC is always busy there is a crowd flowing in and out. I would suggest ordering online or calling ahead for convenience. You can sit down and dine, I do it all the time. The service is quick and fast and you do have a lot of options to choose from !!

First impression walking in was the place is decorated cute, clean, and cozy/quaint. I already love places that feel like a tiny hole in the wall and this place definitely is. The service is great, didn't take long to get our food and there were many people waiting. You can see the chef in the back cooking and frying fresh food. We ordered the Hawaii roll that had salmon and mango it was definitely 10/10. We also had a Philly roll but added jalepeno slices and spicy Mayo. We had a spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll. The total price was about $40. I forgot to take pictures but I promise it's delicious, especially for the money. Will be returning.

First visit and will return. It is located by the Kroger on Bartlett Blvd and Stage rd( Little Caesar's is right next door). I visited on a Wednesday around 645/7pm and it was a steady flow of customers; I sat in the parking lot for a few minutes until my order was ready and I do advise you to call it in. I called my order in and still had a bit of a wait. The place is very busy and I can see why. I don't know if they are open for dine in since everyone was getting take out, but I wouldn't want to dine in. The eating area is a bit small for my taste and right out in the open. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi dinner, sunshine roll and hurricane roll. I enjoyed everything and in my opinion I had a lot of food, enough for lunch/dinner the next day. They ask if you want soy sauce and yum yum sauce, so no little packets of soy sauce. I received two yum yum sauces and to order extra I believe it is .50 per sauce. Aside from having to wait for my order, I still give 4stars because the food was good and hot, I was greeted when I entered, the lady taking my order was very pleasant and so was the guy that I paid with.

I have finally found a place that prepares my food just right! My food is always prepared as requested, hot, and ready upon arrival. Also, the order takers are always pleasant and greet me with a smile.

Come here all the time.They have great food I love the hurricane roll and steak.shrimp,and chicken hibachi.They have a very friendly staff and are always a little busy so it's best to place an order ahead of time by phone if you don't want to wait.

OEC is one of my favorite Japanese "fast food" spots. I wandered in a few years ago to see what they had and have been a loyal customer since. They are very close to me, so anytime that I'm craving my go-to dish of hibachi steak and white rice, I can call and it'll be ready by the time that I'm driving up. The staff is really nice. At one point, I was eating there so much that they knew my order when they saw my number My other favorite dish is the sweet potato rolls. It's actually enough to fill me up, so when I order that and the steak/rice, I have enough food for 2 days! The last time that I ordered, I decided to see if Orson would like all of his favorite foods in one dish. I fed him a sweet potato roll - which spare drawer straws as chopsticks, for the authentic dining experience. If you're in the Bartlett area, definitely give them a try!

Five stars! One of the best sushi places in Bartlett! Hands down always delicious, fresh, fast! The prices can't be beat and there is always a dish to please even the pickiest of family members. Even when they are super busy I have never had to wait too long. My order is always right, and not sloppy. I can always get extra sauces. The staff here is so nice. We only do take out since it's a small space, but it's perfect every time!

This place is meh. It's your express sushi. Sushi is OK. I'll rather go elsewhere. Their fried rice and noodles taste meh. I don't care for this place

I've been going to OEC for over 5 years for the food they serve there and never had an issue ! Always amazing food and great customer service. Super nice

Personally, I dont see what all the hype is about. It was my first time coming in after so much hype about it from various people. I even brought the in-laws to check it out. We were not impressed. Again, our first time and the first thing we do is sit down. The guy at the cashier didnt even acknowledge us to say we have to order at the register. We had to get up since no one came after a few minutes. We order and I get a sweet tea. No wonder people have diabetes, it was more sugar than tea. I ordered sushi and noodles, and everyone else got more sushi and fried rice. My sushi was pretty good but my in-laws sushi(hurricane) was so plain. Both my noodles and their fried rice was salty. Just didnt enjoy my experience there. I know this is "fast" but if you are looking for something that's actually worth the price and taste, I would just go to an ACTUAL Japanese restaurant instead of this place

I was pleasantly surprised at how great the food was, especially for the price. I will definitely be going back for lunches during the week.

Very hard working to-go Asian food business. Good portions of food, nice variety of menu options and dependable service. They can and do regularly get very busy, so food wait times need to be taken into consideration when you order. Almost always worth the wait! Nice small area to eat inside, if that is your thing. They may have limited this option based upon my last visit recently.

The best sushi and hibachi around in an order ahead takeout environment. The orders are prepared fresh and have always been accurate for me. The food quality and portions are great. The place is usually very busy and the service is really good considering the amount of orders to fill.

The dynamite roll was fantastic. Food was hot and good. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Memphis and the Memphis and Bartlett Cordova area

first off, the interior is absolutely amazing. and the food is astronomical, not only did i personally ascend and high-five god after eating an egg roll, the large fried rice can feed a village, i've eaten half and it still looks full. The service good asf, that lady gets it DONE. Love this place.

We just purchased 2 meals for $50 and when ordering said specifically......zucchini.... Checked the order, in the restaurant prior to leaving.... Advised the young lady, who took the order, that there was NO ZUCCHINI in either meal. She basically said that zucchini does not come with the order.... ⁉ Although on the lit sign above the counter it states ALL HIBACHI MEALS ARE MADE WITH VEGETABLES (BROCCOLI, SQUASH, & MUSHROOMS). She states that the noodles don't come with zucchini, only the rice!!!!! Annnnnnd that it would be AN EXTRA CHARGE for Zucchini‼ 1- I'VE NEVER ORDERED THE RICE and have zucchini in my noodles order. 2- If this was extra, why didn't you charge for the zucchini when the order was placed⁉. NOT RECOMMENDED.

OEC is a quick and well-prices Japanese spot! I had the chicken fried rice, and it was really good and pretty filling (I finished it almost immediately). My best friend lives near here, and it's the go-to place for him and is fam. It seems that the chicken fried rice is a staple crop for them at this point. They've essentially been subsisting off this place when they leave the house since the pandemic has started and they didn't wanna go to their regular places. They would definitely give this place more than five stars if they were writing this! Would definitely recommend!

COVID-19 Alert and warning!! We ordered from OEC for takeout during the first week of opening restaurants and stores in Shelby County. On arriving, OEC was packed with people waiting INSIDE the restaurant for their orders. Ninety percent of the people were NOT wearing face masks. The staff was NOT wearing face masks. Some customers came into OEC to order and just sat down in the restaurant to wait. There was no practicing social distancing! There were more than 20 people in this tiny place, all within inches of each other and most not masked. This is neglect on the owners of this restaurant. Obviously, they have no regard for public health or the public health policy stated by the Shelby County Heath Department. I will be reporting them for violating the Covid-19 codes.

This place is one of my top favorite places to eat in Bartlett. The staff are always friendly and the they are time efficient most times. I have never had an incorrect order. The sushi rolls are always fresh and love they offer new sushi rolls of week ideas to try.

My fiancé and I normally eat sushi at Osaka in Poplar Plaza, but it hasn't been that great lately. So we were actually looking for a new place to get sushi. We ordered hibachi steak and shrimp and a couple of sushi rolls. We both loved it and we will be back.

Fast Food Japanese Hibachi Lunch provides a hardy & delicious alternative to typical American fast food. Here I can quickly get a hibachi meal to go without the Volcano ... Choo-Choo ... Heartbeat ... Flying Egg... etc. Not having to sit next between Mr Sneezy or the family after the soccer game! Not having to use my Titanium Diners Club Charge Card ... PRICELESS! I wish their food had more flavor, but that's what the sauces are for. Veggies are crisp & delicious. The best thing about this Japanese restaurant is seeing their Help Wanted sign, written in SPANISH, here in Bartlett, TN! LOL!

Its a shame to say it especially since i discovered my love and appreciate for hibachi and sushi here, but more than not OEC has personally had their off days with me. Maybe its been a tat bit too busy and the staff was overworked that day but orders have came out wrong and the staff can be rude at times when people ask them questions.

OEC is definitely express and great for quick lunch takeout. I was pleasantly surprised by the convenience of this establishment and will definitely be ordering from here more often if I need to get a quick to go meal. FOOD: for Memphis, I think the sushi is pretty decent for the price. I would much rather order 2 rolls here for the price of 1 roll from a grocery store. The hibachi lunch entree is HUGE for a pretty good deal too! I had enough leftovers for a 2nd meal. SERVICE: quick service, easy take-out process, and friendly staff. Don't forget the soy sauce if you're getting to-go. Nothing fancy here, but I'll come back for their price and convenience.

I love this place but I have been waiting 53 minutes for a steak fried rice......... :/ I know it's busy but thats really a ridiculous wait for fried rice.

Best. Sushi. Anywhere. All of it is fantastic! I have had virtually every roll, and I love them all. Try the tempura appetizer! The gyoza are super tasty as well. The cucumber salad is deliciousness! Intimate atmosphere, few dine-in tables.

I love OEC but never has them delivered. My food was fresh & warm. It was also followed closely to my directions. Very very pleased.

I do not know what "Oec" means. "Japanese" of course is some of my favorite food. It's the "Express" part of their name that turned me off. Boy, was I wrong. Oec Japanese "Express" had me thinking I'd be getting pre-prepped sushi in cardboard boxes and hibachi style food and rice from freezer to microwave. That's the furthest thing from the truth, but it's reasonable to expect one to think that. This is a very nice place indeed and my food was served on real plates, and presentation is definitely important to these guys. They really went out of their way to garnish the dishes and I loved the carved carrots. My food was every bit as good as it looked. It was on the same level as more expensive places. For the price, it was unbeatable. I had trouble finding it because the Yelp map had it on the north side of Stage Road. I adjusted it, but Yelp has to confirm it. If you are driving around aimlessly like I was, this is right next door to Little Caesars. I selected 3 sushi rolls and asked if I could order 1 egg roll. The owner at the counter who was just as friendly as could be, said they only sell them in 3s and she advised me that I already had a lot of food coming, so I decided against it. She wound up surprising me a little later with 3 egg rolls on the house. Just as I was about to excruciatingly stuff the last bit of food into an already sated stomach, they brought we watermelon which I had to take home. You know you are full when you can't take another bite of watermelon. The sugared peanuts are not a Japanese thing, but rather the owners' special little signature snack to buy a little patience while your food is being freshly prepared. The sushi I bought was from the $5 menu. They do serve the larger rolls with the larger fish bites, and I plan on trying more. The egg rolls were nothing fancy, but what I noticed was how clean the fryer tasted and how perfectly they were fried. They were light and crisp without being the least bit oily. I ate like a king and spent $17. I would have given them 5 stars had I spent $30, but at this price, for this value, I'm at 10 stars. What this means for following visits, if I have to take stars away, one at a time, I will have to remove 5 symbolic stars before I affect their rating. They were very busy for lunch and there was a lot of takeout business. I have a feeling these guys will be here a very long time.

It was ok but I wouldn't go back. The steak was very dry and the shrimp fishy. I'm sure the steak was old (hitachi price wo the hitachi)

I love the place no only for the rice but for my favorite the yum yum sauce. I always get either chicken fried rice or steak & shrimp yaki soba with a spicy crawfish roll. If you haven't please try this place!

I've been here several times since they opened. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food always hot and fresh. If you're not sure if they have something simply ask. My meal: chicken yakisoba, avocado roll, hot tea. Along with complimentary peanuts and watermelon (Dine in only to my knowledge) The soba was good. A bit sweet and a little heavy on the sauce for my taste, but sill good. Roll: surprisingly light and satisfying. Watermelon: I didn't know I needed it till they brought it out. Total cost: 14.00 5 stars well deserved

Decent Japanese American take out: I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba noodles. It came with broccoli, carrots, onions and one lonely mushroom. The brown sauce was the perfect amount for the noodles and veggies to soak in. All of the veggies were hand cut: none of that frozen carrots and peas that I see in a lot of Asian American take out places/buffets. I didn't care for the orange side sauce. It was was somehow very heavy on mayo get very watery. If I wanted a sauce on the side, I would just want more of the brown sauce, but I thought there was enough sauce. The chicken is of course chicken breast, so I expected that to be dry, and it was. However, it's like that other hibachi places I've been to. I think the sesame seeds should have been toasted to add some flavor and decor to the dish but I think overall it was a decent dish as a Japanese American item. One order is for one person: it's served to go in a meal prep container.

I ended my meal adventure here at Oec Japanese. The dining area is small and the environmental temperatures is warm and humid. The restroom is clean. The wait staff was helpful with ordering. I was not a fan of th sugared peanut appetizer. I had the eel roll and the spider roll. My plate looked wonderful. It all tasted good but loved the spider roll.

Best place ever!! The food is amazing! I literally drive 20 mins just to eat here. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff are soooo sweet! They always go above and beyond to make sure their customers are satisfied! If you want amazing food, without breaking the bank- come here, to OEC and tell them Dalton sent you!- literally they know my name haha!

I love this place, sushi is pretty good and the yokisoba is something to get. Though the chicken is always a bit dry, some yum yum sauce fixes that. Always fresh and quick with orders. Staff is friendly too.

SO YUMMY!! My friend and I wanted some Japanese for lunch, and I suggested we try the new place in Bartlett. I ordered the Chicken Hiabachi Lunch and a Vegetable Roll. My friend ordered the Steak Hiabachi Lunch, Crunchy Roll, and the Spider Roll. The sushi was very good quaility. Nicely packed and not falling apart at all. The food was very flavorful, but didn't take away from the quaility of the food. The prices are awesome for the amout of food you receive and the quaility. The staff is very pleasent. I would recommend this place to ANYONE!! YUM YUM SUSHI!!

GREAT service, nice friendly and understanding what u want, she explain everything about the food that I don't understand what it is! Clean place & the bathroom too... super cool inside their AC & Fan r working good :) Their wall decor is super cute, makes u feels like u r in Asia :) Their price is very reasonable for Asian food and the food is Great.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. It's always nice to find a place that will fill you up with some good rolls!

I'm still sticking with my 3-star rating from last time. This place is just fine for what it is. I tried the sushi and it was very good. I kept it simple, though...none of the crazy cooked/fried/mayonnaise-laden rolls. I had the avocado roll, asparagus roll, sweet potato roll and the salmon-avocado roll. OK - the sweet potato roll is cooked/tempura...but it's not greasy at all. The other 3 rolls were very nice. Not too much rice and the pieces are bite sized....just right. I'm not a fan of rolls that are so tremendous that it requires multiple bites for a single piece (or shoving that one giant piece in and hoping not to choke on it...). I also ordered a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad. My complaint on both of these - they are served with tempura flakes on top. Why? Never saw that before....and it's not necessary if the salads are good. Just adds extra, empty calories. The seaweed salad was OK...but I couldn't really tell b/c of the tempura flakes. The cucumber salad was really bland...not much going on there...so I guess it needed the extra something. Chicken fried rice and crab rangoon were the other items that my folks had. The rice dishes are their favorites and I tasted the crab rangoon...a bit greasy for my taste. So, I'd probably go back and get the simple sushi rolls again....and ask for my seaweed salad sans flakes.
