Oechsle

"Serving flavoursome dishes made from fresh, high-quality ingredients in a pleasant contemporary atmosphere, this restaurant on the corner is a real gem. Its short menu draws on both Mediterranean and classical influences. This place also doubles as a wine bar, so you can look forward to a well-curated wine list. Experienced and charming waitstaff provide great service with a personal touch. In summer, the tables out front, facing the street, are in high demand." - Michelin Inspector

This was a chance find, simply to try as it was walking distance from where I was staying. It was a wonderful choice. There was summer menu "Schlemmer Sommer" which I took and added the Kalbstartar. All the dishes were very tasty, but the Calf Tartar stood out by far, it was simply delicious which I will definitely order again when I come back. Service was friendly and welcoming. Overall very good VfM.

Lovely ambience. Its exterior belies its excellent food and wine pairing. Hot rye bread with butter. Excellent Germany white wine. Savory pumpkin soup w roasted cashews with a touch of curry. Excellently cooked Zander with crispy skin and white flaky flesh on a bed of greens and millet.

Tremendous modern German food. Went with the waiter’s recommendations without looking at the menu. A perfect meal. Highly recommend.

An elegant restaurant in the middle of an unassuming neighbourhood of Hamburg serving up come excellent central European cuisine paired with an extensive wine list. The service is exceptionally friendly and professional. They are very knowledgeable about the food, cooking techniques and are proud of the work they do. It was a very pleasurable experience. The food itself focuses on central Europe and is done with care and passion. The elements of dish have their own place on the plate and are delectable. I couldn't fault the kitchen. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy and warm. It welcoming yet modest. It's perfect for a quiet dinner with friends and family or even by yourself with a good book. All in all, one may walk by this restaurant without giving it a second glance but it's got some of the best food and service in the industry! 10/10

Surprisingly awesome. The restaurant ambiance is clean and cosy. The service was excellent. Our host took her time making us comfy, explains the menu, dishes and was very knowledgeable about the wine. The food menu is small, the wine list extensive. Everything was good, from start to finish. Food was amazing, fresh, cooked to perfection. The veal filet was outstanding. All I would say, is go, relax and get spoiled.

Went here for dinner with my date and we had an amazing experience. Rene, our waiter, was super friendly and welcoming. He also showed a lot of care and attention to help us order the wine that would perfectly fit our taste and our dinner. We both ordered fish which was indescribably delicious. That being said, the dinner was quite pricey: €6 for the glass of wine and €36 for the fish, although the bill was €45.25 per person in the end which doesn't add up, but maybe we were charged for the bread and butter. I unfortunately didn't take the bill. A fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend eating here if you can afford it.

Very intimate and sophisticated. Food done with care and attention to detail. Tomato soup was par excellence nice combination of sour and sweet as ingredients where top. Braised veal cheek cooked to perfection and indicative take to rest of the dish though a bit to salty for my taste. Service extremely good and refined. Wine selection carefully chosen. Bake for money. Absolute must.

The restaurant is very elegant with a professional and friendly staff. The food taste and quality is one of the best I have tried lately. Highly recommended. Crème Brûlée was the best!
