Went here as Oak and Stone had a 30 minute wait for an outdoor table.
Asked for a suggestion of the most frequently ordered item from server. Ordered this with allotted sides. The meal came out with no sides. No one came to check on our order the entire meal. When I finally flagged someone down, at the end of the meal to request the sides, they were brought. After finishing, no one came back (the restaurant was not at all busy). The hostess finally returned, WELL after we had finished eating, to say that another waitress was now taking over the tables and she was very sorry for the poor service. We simply requested the check. The picture is of the stack of dirty dishes that no one took away after the meal, when the hostess stopped by, when the check was delivered or picked up.
I mentioned to the hostess, before she brought the check, that the food was really not very good at all. Having worked in restaurants, I did not want to be negative but constructive, and although the flavors were good (Carolina sauce is very good!) the food was really awful. The ribs, although cooked through, were extremely tough and chewy, and the brisket was the same, tough as leather. Both needed a much longer cooking time at a low temp to be tender and, at minimal, edible. Pulled chicken was wet and watery as if it came out of soup, the pulled pork was good.
Having such limited and very poor service that the staff apologized for, and mentioning that the food was sub par, I thought maybe a manager would come out and talk to us. No, the check was handed over, we paid in full and left. Not expecting anything for free in life, but if I were the manager, not only would I have visited the table, but I would at least have removed the drinks. But I agree, that is not required, but acknowledgment of dissatisfaction is. Picture of the check is only to verify visit.
Live around the corner and next time will wait the 30 minutes for Oak and Stone.
