Rode over a hour to check this place out . Got a hot butter lobster roll and the lobster rangoons both were great. My buddy got a burger it was a good size. The sauce for the rangoons was amazing sweet but with a good amount of heat . The atmosphere was really nice I felt out of place but to be fair I'm coverd in face tattoos n look like a criminal. Service was great waitress was friendly, fast and attentive . There was a outside seating area as well with shade spent round $83 for everything was worth the trip and money would definitely go back

Google
Got there at 3 pm when they opened. Ordered a bourbon mule $14, chicken wing, and Mahi appetizer. $5 Smash burgers (Monday special). Chicken wings were cooked until dry, not very meaty (C-), Mahi was decent (B+), and Smash burgers were good (A-) Fries were good (A+). The service was excellent (Cole). Nicely decorated inside. AC was much appreciated due to the hot weather. Overall experience B+

Excellent food, amazing service, nice drink list! We stopped here after the Steelers game decked in Black and Gold and as exp cited given a little hard time after the whoppin Pittsburgh provided today (9/21/25) anyway ever one was nice the food was amazing clam chadaw was on point, lobster was some the freshest I’ve ever had. This is a great spot for tourist it’s away from all the Commericaized stuff.

I went to this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, I left very disappointed. It was Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and the place was quite crowded. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which was understandable, but once seated, the service was very poor. Our waitress completely forgot about our table and took a long time to attend to us. When she finally arrived, she apologized, saying the restaurant was busier than usual. We decided to try their recommended dishes, thinking they would be the best, but that wasn’t the case. The appetizer had decent flavor, though it was a bit tough. The fish taco was very basic: a piece of fried fish, poorly plated, and bland. The pink sauce was the worst part. The burrito wasn’t much better—the mix of flavors was off—and the fries tasted only of oil. We left very disappointed and, honestly, we won’t be coming back. Hopefully this review helps others think twice before visiting.

Google
My first time at this little neighborhood restaurant. The food is all delicious and well prepared. We will definitely be back for more! The cocktail I had wasn’t as good as I expected from the description but there was definitely plenty of choices from the menu.

On our Travels through Quincy, Massachusetts we stumbled upon this Hidden Gem 💎 Off the Hook 🎣 Bar & Grill and decided to have dinner. The Hostess was Friendly and inviting . Our Waitress Ann was Great she took our Drink 🍹 and Appetizer orders right away. Appetizers: Coconut Shrimp, Lobster Rangoon, Bowl of Clam Chowder, Fried Calamari, Dock Fries and Scallops wrapped in Bacon 🥓😋 Everything was Delicious 😋. Ann was bringing them out in a steady stream 😋🍹 which worked out perfectly. Entrees: 2 Baked Stuffed Seafood Trios , Hooked Up Stuffed Flounder sides of Red Bliss Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Spinach 😋. So Tasty and Yummy 😋. The place had a fun and friendly Vibe which put the dinner experience over the Top 😁. Our Waitress Ann was Awesome as was the entire staff 👍⭐ Highly Recommend Off the Hook Bar and Grill. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
Great service! We tried a few dishes based on reviews. The lobster roll was buttery but not as fresh and juicy as I expected. Our server kindly offered to take it off the bill, but we like supporting small businesses when we travel, so we ordered a lemon drop instead — not our favorite. The drinks on the menu were great though, and the clam chowder was one of the best we’ve had! It might just depend on the time of year for the lobster. The lobster Rangoon wasn’t quite what I expected either, but overall, great service and worth checking out if you’re nearby.

Yelp
Updated from 3 to 5 stars thanks to our amazing waiter! We were disappointed on our last visit to Off the Hook, but we're so glad we gave it another try. Our out-of-town guests wanted dinner with live music, and it turned out to be a great choice. We sat on the dining side--close enough to enjoy the music while still able to talk easily. The Angry Onion was the perfect start--crispy, flaky, and lightly spiced with chipotle. The crock of French onion soup had just the right balance of rich broth and gooey cheese. My blackened scallops were slightly undercooked for my taste but still delicious, served with a generous portion of creamy parmesan spinach risotto. The fish and chips were also a hearty serving, and everyone enjoyed their meals and beverages, including the specials. A special shout-out to Cole, our server, who truly made the night. His friendly personality, spot-on recommendations, and attentive service turned a good meal into a great experience. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Our tasty travels continue... We walked in to this well decorated seafood house and could already tell it's a popular local spot. Our waitress Jess had our drinks going in no time and as some of you know dining with kids can be challenging and sometimes getting food in front them asap is important. She had her order in and moving asap and that chicken tender meal out asap. Little yelper said they were the "best ever"... we questioned that and I tried a small piece and yep they were fresh and some of the best we can recall in recent dining experiences. There were several bowls of the clam chowder around the table and everyone was in full agreement that it was fantastic. Rich flavor and a healthy amount of clam and potatoes in the each spoonful. The fish and chips, it was a healthy portion of fish, fries and the coleslaw. Well done fish and the tartar sauce was fantastic. The chicken dinner was a heaping mound of chicken bacon and mashed potatoes with a side of corn. It tasted as great as it looked. A fish Reuben? Yep. Again another treat for the tastebuds just like the shrimp tacos. I don't do 5 often but this place definitely deserves it. Freshness, flavor and service all were spot on. Highly recommend visiting off the hook.

Yelp
As one of the original Louis patrons.. it bothers me that there is no homage to the basset hound that lived in that location. But I digress. So much has changed in the neighborhood I grew up in. Th3 food here is great. I wish they had some of Grumpy Whites entres.. meatloaf gravy, mashed n corn. Check breast with the same.. peeps love comfort food. Nothing like it when you dont have to cook! Love this place. Return again and again with my mother.. I left the Neck years ago but am always happy to return

Yelp
We'll bust my britches! Sat. At 5:30 w a reservation. It was a rainy night. Worth the trip out to Hough's Neck. Tucked away, a secret spot. Enjoyed the calamari appetizer, baked haddock dinner for 16.00 was a nice big piece of haddock baked w crumbs, real red potatoes mashed and fresh not frozen broccoli crowns. The vibe here is family, friends and locals. Salt water down the street. Great big parking lot. Although this is Feb. not sure about beach season if you can park there. Folks I was with enjoyed the sirloin steak, cooked to your liking with same sides, I tried it. Thick and juicy. Lobster ravioli reported as good, three oversized raviolis. Our waitress Jenn did a great job getting our order together and checking in with us. Very professional and nice, we loved her. The bar is half this place a square shape and people were listening to two musicians playing nice background music. I will be back.

Christine

Yelp
We are so excited that OFF the HOOK has some of Grumpy White recipes. The garlic cheese burger is fantastic. The added side of parmasean garlic fries were a generous portion. Service was better than expected considering how busy they can be.The neighborhood friendliness was a nice unexpected addition. The bar had music that was a nice touch.Clean & accessibility for everyone We will be back often

Yelp
I thought I had posted this review only to find it still lurking in my "draft folder". This is from a visit this past August. Please note that in the intervening few months, things may have improved. This is a cute place that we had heard good things about so we sought it out for a late lunch. We were promptly greeted and given our choice of booths. To the left of the entrance there is a large bar area surrounded by booths. To the right of entrance are more booths which when we arrived was an empty area. We opted to sit there as there were a number of occupied tables and a fairly full bar on the other side. We were brought menus and ice water right away. Unfortunately within ten minutes of being seated, the air conditioning unit (it was a quite hot August afternoon) which was positioned not far from us kicked on. From where we were sitting the a.c. unit gave off a very loud and unpleasant noise. that sounded like an extremely loud blender. The noise felt especially disruptive to Tom and so we asked to move. We were nicely accommodated and we moved to the far and opposite side of the restaurant which was better in terms of the noise. Apparently this restaurant has an antiquated kind of a.c system which kicks on and off as needed. I ordered the fish and chips and Tom ordered the fried scallop plate. Both came with fries and a tiny ramekin of coleslaw. I always wonder why restaurants generally serve such tiny quantities of coleslaw. It is inexpensive enough to make and when done right, one always wants more. These were skimpy portions. Both our dishes came out plated beautifully on clear white large square plates. They had a cute idea to serve the fries in a miniature facsimile of a fry basket. While this was a fun idea, we were dismayed to see that these mini baskets were delaminating. They are made out of some kind of metal (I am guessing not stainless steel) and the metal had been coated with something but you could readily see that the coating had come off in some areas. Oh no!... not good at all. There were no flakes of whatever this coating was on the fries thank goodness but these need to be replaced asap. They should not be used in my opinion! (When I got home I looked on Amazon and the same fry baskets are available in uncoated stainless steel and are not expensive at all. Note to management: replace those terrible mini fry baskets immediately.) While my fish and chips were tasty enough, the fish was overcooked and hence dry. Pity. The fries themselves were nothing special and even a bit mealy inside without the nice crunch on the outside. Tom enjoyed his scallops well enough; the portion looked fairly generous and he was happy with them. He too was quite dismayed by the fry basket situation. While we both had the ice water (much appreciated as it was a very muggy day outside), I also ordered a white sangria. As sangrias go this was mediocre at best. The fruit it contained was a lone thin orange slice and a maraschino cherry. It tasted watered down. I would not order it again. It was a poor excuse for a sangria. I am not sure I would give this place another try; there are are just too many other places we know that have better lunch options and too many as of yet untried new restaurants. Sometimes a place needs to get more things right on that first all-important visit. Our waiter was very nice btw. I wish I had gotten his name. He was running the whole place by himself when we were there including the bar. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
My friend and I returned for lunch on Saturday. We arrived about 5 minutes after opening. We both enjoyed Fish & Chips. Melissa enjoyed fries and coleslaw "on the side" + tartar sauce. I substituted a "side salad" for my fries-a plentiful caesar salad. Delicious. We both enjoyed piping hot coffee on their thick-walled mugs. Great service. The only regret was that this wasn't a Sunday when the live Reggae music flows!

Yelp
The food is amazing !! Super large portions and served fresh/piping hot. Can't wait to return in the summer such a hidden gem. Service was great, warm and fuzzy. Definitely will return.

Yelp
Went for Father's day brunch. Made reservations. Sat for 25 min with no service had to ask for a waiter. Food was poor . Rubbery bacon chicken and waffles tasted like Tyson tenders and a super spicy chili sauce with coleslaw on top. Not good

Ivan V.

Yelp
Had clam chowder and fish and chips. Both were the best I ever had. Russo, our waiter, was knowledgeable friendly and efficient. Don't even think about it, just go!

Stacey M.

Yelp
Fantastic food. So fresh and full of flavor. Waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable. Our waitress Jen was the epitome of what a server should be. Helpful, kind, funny, and offered suggestions. We never had an empty glass or plate on our table. She was very attentive. Will absolutely visit again.

Yelp
Grumpy Garlic Burger... So good! Will definitely be back, quick service. Friendly atmosphere

Yelp
I would love to use expletives for this miserable experience. I had the Blackened Wahoo. Blackened to a rancid fishy smelling dried out brick firmness. Ate two bites and the foul taste made me gag . I am home now trying to keep this chum cocktail down. My bowels are roiling, my palms are sweating, I am shaking. The calamari was mostly fried peppers that spent too many hours in the frier. Angry onion was OK. Lobster roll was OK. Rice was good. Mini salad good. Kid ordered French dip. A mountain of boiled gray mystery meat on a charred stale bun with cheese and onion glop on top.. Salmon teriyaki was recognizable. I know I am going to blow chunks, and if the lord is merciful, it will be soon. I will let you know if it tastes better on the way back up. I'll be riding the bowl like Slim Pickens at the end of Dr. Strangelove. Yeah, I know, don't order the fish special on thursday.

Yelp
If you are looking for a local place with great food and good prices then Off the Hook is a great place. Found them on yelp when looking for a spot for dinner with my wife and son and couldn't be happier. It's a little off the beaten path but that is part of what makes it great. We all went with the seafood, we ordered the Fish and Chips, the Baked Trio and the Hooked up stuffed Flounder and everything was delicious. The service was prompt and our server was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a local Seafood place, relaxing and laid back and the live music was just the right volume that you could still have a conversation at your table. We will definitely be heading back there on our next trip to the area.

Briana J.

Yelp
The food was amazing. We had the Ahi Tuna (mouth watering), buttered lobster roll (to die for). The truffle fries were not that spectacular. Oh the coleslaw was also creamy & delicious. The service was good and fine. The ambiance was game day ready.
google avatar

Yelp
This charming neighborhood eatery was exactly what we were looking for. Away from the hordes of tourists and the exorbitant prices and traffic, we felt as if we found a new favorite diner. The crowd was friendly and welcoming. The staff was kind and helpful with helping me decide what to order. I started with a sweet whiskey concoction, the Big Ginger. Then, a cup of clam chowder with lots of potatoes and large bites of clam meat. Wonderful! My entree was blackened sea scallops on a large serving of creamy risotto with spinach. Everything was absolutely delicious! While we were there, a rousing trivia night was going on. And while we were just answering questions amongst our table, next time I hope to actually compete.

Yelp
Made an impromptu visit after kid's soccer game nearby and was very impressed! Attentive service, dog friendly outside, and the brunch was yum! Loved the home fries (too often home fries in restaurant are undercooked and/or bland - neither was true in this case). I had the breakfast tacos and they were huge! We'll definitely return.

Finn M.

Yelp
Went in for a quick meal and had amazing food and quick service. My waiter Cole was really sweet and charming and made me feel welcome at this restaurant. The good was also amazing!

Yelp
This was our first time at OTH. We started with some yummy Lobster Rangoons with spicy chili sauce. Years ago when in the area we would stop into Grumpy White's (now closed) in Quincy for what we thought were the best Steak Tips around. Recently we stumbled upon a review that said that OTH had the Original Grumpy's recipe. Thinking we'd never have those Tips again we had to go check it out. Let me tell you, these tips took my taste buds back a bit. They were cooked perfectly, so tender and tasted as good as I remember if not better. The broccoli was steamed perfectly and the mashed potatoes tasted homemade. Saw a few dishes go by that looked delicious, definitely going to have to go back again soon.

Jenny L.

Yelp
My local pub and home away from home! The food is good, the drinks are mixed to perfection and the service is delicious. McKayla, Danielle, Jodi and the rest of the crew are like family. Get there!

Kate A.

Yelp
Came for Father's Day, first time coming here. Service was excellent. Food was so good!! We came for brunch and everything was hot and delicious. Came out perfectly timed to when we arrived and got our drinks. We will definitely be back and will definitely be telling our friends about this fun little spot near the ocean !!! Management even stopped by our table to see how we liked our first experience here. Much appreciated!!

Steve B.

Yelp
Off the Hook is a great hidden gem in Hough's Neck Quincy...great food and atmosphere...McKayla works the bar on Friday lunches and makes everyone feel at home and provides excellent service...worth a trip down the Neck to see Mckayla and the rest of the staff serve you delicious meal and great experience!!

Yelp
Oh how cute is this place?! I love the really cool whimsical/nautical artwork all over the walls. It draws you in and makes you feel like you're at the beach! My first visit here was decent. My friend and I sat at the ample-sized bar, which had no beers on tap (how odd), only bottles & cans. I ordered the fish & chips for dinner. The shape of the fish was off, which makes me think it was previously frozen, but it was a large portion size and I really liked the thick batter it was fried in. Frozen or not, I really enjoyed it and couldn't stop eating even when I was stuffed! Cole slaw was a bit watery but flavor was still good. They have trivia and live music on certain nights which sounds fun. I look forward to coming back!

Alivia C.

Yelp
Cole was awesome! Super friendly and gave great recommendations. The food was delicious!

Yelp
Very good atmosphere, local people local neckers my grandpa used to go there every single day it is one of the best eatery's in Quincy!!! Shoutout to the owners for helping my family out and renting the place to us after his loss. 5 stars

Yelp
We frequent OTH for last few years. 1 st time getting the clam chowder bread bowl and pizza. The Bread bowl was fresh and chowder rich and creamy with plenty of clams. It was one of the best chowders I've had in a loooong time. The pizza was very good also. Loved the doughy crust. Used to be able to get a seat at bar but seems like word is getting out about the great food and friendly waitstaff.

Kris S.

Yelp
An amazing neighborhood bar and grill with super staff and delicious food. We were seated right away at our reservation time and for outside seating. Our server was helpful recommending her favorite dishes and the flounder and scallops were delicious.

Christine D.

Yelp
I have bittersweet memories of longing for a place that doesn't make you have a conversation because everyone else does it for you. Lots of seafood options, hence the name and proximity to the ocean. Bartender was fun and made great recommendations. Because of that, I did not get sea sick. Great company and accessibility to the peg leg bathroom because I often consider myself a pirate. 5 stars. .

David B.

Yelp
Tried Off The Hook for the first time today. Good vibe and I came because my sister-in-law recommended the Southern Hot Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich is described as stacked with fried chicken, hot honey, coleslaw and pickles. What I got was a fried chicken breast with lettuce , tomato and pickles. No hot honey or coleslaw. (There is no other chicken sandwich on the menu) Now I can understand missing a pickle but I don't understand how you miss the two ingredients that make this sandwich a southern hot chicken. I did decide to eat as is since my wife had her burger and I would rather have a hot temp chicken breast than a lukewarm chicken breast because I had to wait for our server to check on us, bring to kitchen and have them remake it I will leave the rest of my comments out but they certainly need some type of kitchen awareness or menu training. Will I go back, maybe.....,

Andre L.

Yelp
mckayla is an amazing bartender... customer service was great.. she was nice and sweet...

Myrvete K.

Yelp
I got lucky and there was live music and got the last bar seat the night I went. The bartender was mostly attentive but was helping a huge crowd so I understood some delays were natural. Ordered the twin lobster rolls that were pretty packed and good, but I don't think matched the menu description. Again, it was still good so no complaints there. What I loved about the place was it seemed to be very well frequented by locals. Seemed like a place where everyone knew each other's name. Was nice.
google avatar

Sha R.

Yelp
It a little hidden in Quincy's Houghs Neck Neighborhood but I promise it is worth the Drive if you're not close! I haven't tried dinner there yet but I went there for Brunch this last Sunday & The atmosphere was great with live music and the food was delicious for reasonable prices! The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because we were sat in the bar area and although the music was great it was a little bit too loud. If they turned the speakers down just a tiny bit it would've been perfect but either way I'd still rather the music as it was than not at all because it just added to the fun atmosphere. Also for brunch they should add eggs & toast to their sides. I asked the waitress if I could get a kids meal of eggs & toast along with my meal (delicious Nutella and fruit waffles) and she said she could just add them as sides so that was good. It would be good to add them to the menu as sides though so people know & can see the price because It wasn't much at all for the side egg and toast. All & all it was a great experience & definitely recommend going there esp for their weekend brunch!

Yelp
Just had Sunday brunch here at the bar, great reggae band (Dis n dat) made for a lively and very enjoyable time at this cool spot. We had the fish tacos (haddock) and the salmon eggs benny, both were awesome! The salmon was cooked perfectly, most places overcook it, this was just rare enough. Both meals were very tasty and fresh. Had a really nice and professional bartender, Michaela who made this a great experience. Had just the right amount of TVs for when there's a good game on. Nice sized square bar and a bunch of cozy booths. The band was nestled in the corner and played some great music at just the right volume. This might just become my new place..

Ron P.

Yelp
Slow services, prices not the same as the house delivered flyer. Not much help, only one server and bartender.

T G.

Yelp
Food gone downhill, found live parasites in food. very clicky with neighborhood, unless you are family don't go here.

Paul S.

Yelp
I have now been to this wonderful place twice and it was even better the second time. Very nice bar and plenty of parking in the public lot right outside and no charge for parking. The Chowder is excellent and the broiled or baked Haddock dinner is the best that you will find in The Quincy area and beyond. The service was excellent. I also ordered a very good Caesar salad with my Haddock dinner. Nobody does it better than this place. I'm a Dorchester guy and I'm not far away from Houghs neck but I still consider this place a hidden gem. It's always crowded and it's obviously because people know. I met a friend after for a beer at The Fox and Hound. Very few people there on a Thursday night but Off The Hook far down on Sea Street was absolutely crowded. Every table and every chair at the bar were taken. I have not tried the Steak tips yet but they are Doms steak tips and I have been told they are a favorite. My dinner came with a very generous serving of mashed potatoes and a vegetable. I'm 66 years old and this place serves the very best Haddock I have ever had. Much better than the Clam Box or Tony's. I do prefer it baked or broiled. It's just better and healthier than fried fish. Of course I love Fish and chips too but this was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go to Off The Hook sometime. You will surely thank me later

Linda A.

Yelp
Service was fine. Husband had a good burger. I got a lobster roll--$37 for about 4 bites of lobster drenched in mayo!!! Horrible!!!
google avatar

Dawn C.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place for my birthday dinner...let's just say I left hungry. Wait staff was inexperienced ...when I asked for recommendations she stated "I usually have the chicken strips" I asked if the lobster Rangoon were made in house and was told yes...they looked like the just came out of a freezer bag and the jar sauce served with them was less appealing. We never got our appetizer plates she was on her way to get. The clam chowder came out Luke warm and flavorless. I ordered the blackened swordfish on special came out salty and fishy tasting. While the spinach risotto was hot...eh. The haddock was ok...little flavor.

David M.

Yelp
We love OFF THE HOOK! It has become our new go-to place. Always great service and wonderful food. Try the scallops wrapped in bacon! The bar scene here seems very inviting. Just good people hanging out chatting and having fun. The restaurant has outdoor dining in the summer and indoor years round. They have trivia on certain nights and weekday food-item specials. Very warm and inviting staff!
google avatar

Kris S.

Yelp
Nice spot...we had to find a place we could walk to from where we stayed, and this was close. Our waitress was a lot of fun and the food was really good. Enjoyed our time there, and would return if ever in the area again.
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal. Service was great, Atmosphere was awesome, And the food was even better! We're from Dallas, Tx. We came looking for a fresh dish sandwich and it was the best one we found while in town. Much worth the visit!

Ray B.

Yelp
Worst burger and fries I've had in years Couldn't even eat it really Wife had fish and chips equally as bad Whoever is in charge in the kitchen needs to get another job How you can charge $ for this is beyond me
google avatar

Elaine W.

Yelp
The staff was fine but the food was much to be desired. I got the Fisherman's platter (market price cost was about $35 this day) and it consisted of 5 medium sized shrimps, 5 medium sized scallops, 2 piece of tiny pieces (I mean TINY) of fish, some fries and cole slaw. The pieces should have been collosal size for the small quatities but it wasn't. It was very bland and not worth the money. The Mahi Mahi dish was not any better. The sauce was too sweet and the Mahi Mahi was dry. My son is 15 yrs old and he is an avid seafood lover. He was highly disappointed with the food. We will not be returning. I still left a tip for the waitress since it wasn't her fault the food was bad. I do not recommend this place.

Evan V.

Yelp
My wife and I live right down the street and it's our favorite spot in Quincy. The buff chick sub and steak and cheese rival the original recipes from Grumpy Whites. The pizza has always been awesome too. The servers/bartenders are always attentive and nice.
google avatar

Rick F.

Yelp
Great little gem tucked away in Quincy!! Great food and service great for the boaters too. Easy access!!

Kiana M.

Yelp
Went here Sunday afternoon for brunch with family and friends. Parking is nearby, but the parking lot is packed. There was a nice reggae band playing when we went. I ordered the $15 scorpion bowl cocktail. It was pretty good (and strong lol). My sister ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was tenders (would have preferred bone-in chicken instead). We had a group of 5. It was pretty packed on Sunday. They have table service (we were extremely close to other patrons). The bar was large and packed as well. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, the music and the drinks. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely recommend you try this spot out.

Michael M.

Yelp
Food was good, entertainment was very good, ambiance was good. My only complaint is that the Thursday lobster rolls special I ordered in which the lobster rolls were way too small.
google avatar

Yvonne R.

Yelp
My husband has been seeing on FB how great this place is........... NOT The fish was ok. For what we paid, a real potato would have been nice, not instant(yuck) No beers on tap .....? Don't think we'll venture back You don't know til you try

Yelp
First time eating the scallops andHad the steak tips last night , very happy with the food I will definitely come back , it's a haul from dot but worth the trip.
