14 New York Bars Where You Can Watch Football | Eater

"Known for its college-bar vibes, Off the Wagon is the kind of place where the drinks are affordable, the TVs are plentiful, and the crowd is as spirited as the game itself. With two stories, 17 TVs, a giant 100-inch screen, and a kitchen that’s open until 4 a.m. each night, it’s going to be hard to find a bar more tailored to following along with your team’s game day. Whether you’re posted up at the bar or squeezing in a round of beer pong between plays, Off the Wagon’s got you covered. Pro tip: Pair your football-watching experience with the rum punch, made with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, dark rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice, and a splash of grenadine." - Julia Gómez Kramer

Went on a Wednesday night to watch the Knicks playoff game. I had the Burger and a Side of French Fries. The burger is juicy, lots of flavor, and the fries were crispy. Many TVs to watch Sports. There was Hockey, Basketball, and other sports on. Drinks are around $10 (decently priced for the area) staff is friendly.

If Chelsea is there, expect the best time. Had the burger and salad and both were excellent. Their happy hour deals will make you stay too long, but in a good way. I will be coming back.

Google
Amazing spot to watch sports and grub on some good bar food. This place also gets rowdy late night with a lively crowd. I came in to watch some college football the other day and ordered some chipotle bbq wings and fried pickles. The wings were delicious and they have 8 flavors to choose from. Fried pickles were amazing too. They have plenty of TVs and a bunch of local beer on tap. There’s an upstairs as well so plenty of room for games and late night dancing.

Been coming to this spot for almost two years now and it’s always a good time. Diverse crowd, mixed music, friendly bartenders and the disco just takes you back. This is my favorite of the sister bars and a great way to start a Friday night. Always convenient that artichoke is right next door to sober up after too!

Haven't been here in over 15 years. Saw I was in the area for set and I had to stop by. The little bit of time I got to spend here certainly brought back the old memories of dropping shots into beers back in the day. The setup has certainly been updated, and the many TV screens really make sure that you see the game from anywhere. I ordered the sliders and they were very good and the onions really gave them a nice flavor. Ryan the bartender was funny, attentive and brought a lot of personality to the spot. I would recommend a visit from anyone. ♨️💯☺️

Visited this place for the first time with my friends and my gosh we had such a fun experience! The staff was incredible. We were a big group and sat upstairs and the bartender up there was just the nicest guy and incredibly fun. The food offered here is amazing!! The best thing on the menu in my opinion was the empanadas (chicken was my favorite) and the tater tots!! Just an overall amazing experience and will definitely be coming back here again!

Google
Hands down the most fun bar I've been to! The DJ's at this place are so good. Drinks are cheap and the vibe is immaculate. Did you guys know that this place and "Hair of the dog" are owned by the same people? 12/10 would recommend!

Google
The REVIEWS R Trippin!!! The bartender & the bouncer are the coolest peeps. A lot of foreigners from Europe I guess have bad experiences because it’s not the same entry attitude like the Pubs. The new disco 🪩 ball is amazing! And the music with the 2nd floor entry is High-End but the drinks are CHEAPPP & very fresh! I went Wednesday night before they closed and I have a great time with the few friendly people that actually will talk to strangers in a cool laid back environment, ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A INTROVERT 😅 COME TO THIS PLACE!

Yelp
This is a decent bar in the west village offering cheap beer especially if you go during happy hour (Mon-Fri before 7pm). Bartenders are friendly and their appetizers are good, especially the wings. I just wish they played music a little louder during the day. I was there on a Thursday afternoon and the vibe was really quiet, I could barely hear the ambiance music. The other bars part of the chain (Down the Hatch and 3 Sheets saloon) have a better vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't really say what led us here this past weekend other than after a non-alcoholic brunch we decided to grab a drink. And figuring out where to grab a drink in the west village turned into a long game of indecisiveness and then we ended up here somehow. Out of all of the college bar franchise chains this business owns this one has always been notorious for not being the best of the bunch. Not that any of them are that great. But they seemingly are a college bar with the worst deals. I think everything was $10 basically. Or the deal of the day was a miller high life or nutrl seltzer and a shot for $10. You'll have better luck on happy hour maybe but then 3 sheets and down the hatch (same owners/same vibe) down the block have better deals round the clock. I think I was aware of this even in my 20's and not sure what led me to trepidatiously coming back other than to witness a gaggle of girls and one guy order buckets of hard seltzers and take photos with their ring lights over the spectacle. Otherwise, the bar was shockingly completely empty. Maybe the NYU kids have moved on to bougier ventures.

Yelp
Great price!! Beer was only $5! Fun vibe on Macdougal street. Would want to come back for the beat the clock offer!
google avatar

Tara C.

Yelp
Going to make this short and sweet. Ordered a Hendricks and soda - the first sip? There's absolutely no way that's Hendricks... no way. I drink Hendricks enough to know the flavor and that wasn't it. Not sure how this place operates but you're definitely not getting what you ordered... unless it's bottom of the barrel. Next...

Yelp
If you want to relive your college days as a partying frat boy or sorority girl this is your bar! Nothing wrong with reliving the fun days before adulting really had to start. Along with bills, responsibilities, and real life. 14 beers on tap, happy hour until 7 pm, beer and a shot for $10 deal, pub grub. Typical beer selection but nothing craft wise which will blow you away. Seltzer beers, red bull, and college drunkenness kind of place. Decent mix of old and new rock playing. Plenty of flat screens with the games on. Booths to hang out in with your crew. Upstairs bar area too. Yeah, it's loud in here but that's what's expected of a college targeted party bar.
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
This place is so awesome. Solid food. The drinks were all fairly priced. So many tvs for the games. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Patrick P.

Yelp
Decent bar to grab a drink. Offers a laidback atmosphere, good pricing for NYC, and a cool location in Greenwich village. As the bartender says "it's a party bar not a cocktail bar" so they only offer your beers and basic cocktails nothing fancy.

Yelp
Stumbled into this bar walking around this area waiting for show to start. Got sucked in by the happy house of $2 off all bar items 5-7pm Monday to Friday. The bar tender was super friendly it has a dive bar vibe very bro kinda sports bar. A lot of people were here for a drink before the show at this hour.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here for a while now but haven't been in about 6 years. Once I walked in I was met with the same exact vibe as if I never left. They play great alternative oldies. The bartenders have always given great service and the drinks are affordable for the bar being located near w4. I'm here with my wife and it's definitely our kind of date spot. A wooden bar, good music, delicious drinks and a chill vibe. Definitely an after work spot for its happy hour, and it's clean for an NY bar. There's two levels and tvs located on almost every wall, giving you the best of all sports. I love coming here for a drink before heading to the Christopher street pier. Check it out!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night around 10. It was fine. There's a beer pong table upstairs, which seems to usually have an informal line. No real way of determining order so you just have to be attentive and know where you are in the queue. Pretty sure the bartender double charged me, unless two draft Blue Moons really cost $27 lol

Yelp
Enjoyed a fantastic St. Patrick's Day at Off The Wagon. Jordan, our waiter was fantastic. He helped us the entire night. The food is incredible. Complements to the chef AND bartender. COVID-19 safety measures in place outside and indoors.

Yelp
Dope spot in nyc. Came here on my visit with cousins and it was a nice vibe. Drinks were good Dj was good will def be returning
google avatar

Bijal R.

Yelp
Amazing spot to get drunk and party with friends for cheap. A dive bar with beer games located on the top level and dance floor/bar at the bottom. Great loud music to dance and party to. Entire street is buzzing with people. Depending on the crowd it may take some time to order drinks but the quality and price is worth it. Typical beer selection at the bar. Definitely recommend a night out to party with friends and spend within limits.

Johnny W.

Yelp
I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was, and the staff was incredibly helpful. if you want to pop into a place on friday afternoon, this is an ideal place to do so.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
Eric, Eddie, and Ryan are very down-to-earth, friendly bartenders who made my friends and me feel very welcome. Thank you for taking special care of us and our entire cohort, especially among such a large crowd. Things to know before coming here - there are no outlets, but there's a pay-to-use charging station. It's a super college atmosphere, so it's very loud, crowded, and uncomfortable. Most people are wasted and enjoying their new privilege of drinking and being away from their parents. It's not uncommon to find girls throwing up in the bathroom or outside. There are plenty of TVs, so it's great to watch a game. There's beer bong on both floors. Stools are available, but limited, so catch them while you can. There's several coat hooks throughout the place. And finally, for a sports bar, the food is actually pretty good!

Yelp
Pretty cool place to grab a drink. The street was bustling on a Thursday early evening. It was a bit busy, but my buddy and I were able to grab a seat. There's a 2 hour limit if it gets busy, but I don't think it ever got to that point. Service was fast and friendly. I was crushing hard on our waitress. I felt like every time she came over she was gonna tell me something, like "I love you" but that might be wishful drinking, or because of the 4th Goose Island beer I had within the hour. Ordered a side of Mac and Cheese wedges, amazing choice if I do say so myself. I love the dipping sauce, it was just a small cup of Louisiana hot sauce or something. Most places are so skimpy on the sauce/dip, but there was more than enough sauce here. However, there's like 7 wedges total, so definitely looked bare. Had an embarrassing story at the bathroom. I thought it was one of those solo toilets, so when I tried to push the door open, I thought it was locked and preceded to wait outside. Another guy comes and asked if I was waiting for the bathroom, which I replied with Yes. Then I started to realize the door might be a pull. And yes it was. We were waiting outside like idiots for a hot minute. The bathroom also had 2 urinals and 1 toilet, enough to fit 3 whole people (4 if you're feeling frisky!). We had a good laugh about it, but there should be a sign that says "Pull" on it. Or they did that on purpose for the giggles. Anyways, cool place. Street has a good vibe for drinks

Phyllis C.

Yelp
Bartenders are super weird, they act very immature and angry, drinks are overly expensive, and it's overall not the best vibe
google avatar

Neil M.

Yelp
They could not make an old fashioned, no simple syrup or serve a proper martini. Relatively clean. But, what a sh_ty bar.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
Wow! Blown away by the service! Jordan is an absolute ANGEL!! And to add to that he's cute too. He let us know that the cheapest thing on the menu was to order a $2 hotdog, which he even offered to eat for us!!!! Anyways tequila sunrises were bomb and he was super patient with us. a+ will return to off the wagon

Amanda S.

Yelp
Emily & Ivy were THE BEST. absolute gems. stop by just to see them honestly. ate down house boots slay literally no crumbs played chapel roan ate slay ate Emily & Ivy for president 2025

Yelp
I visited nyc a week ago and had to review this place. I lost my mom the day I came here, my finance and I spent most of the day cooped in a police. Station filing a missing persons report. Needless to say we were distraught. Afterwards we had to get a drink so we came in here and to our surprise, there was my mom. Taking jager bombs with the boys. Turns out she decided turned this place into her home on account for the sick beats and slappin vibes. In short, Off the wagon brought my family back together.
google avatar

Pvt G.

Yelp
Rudest bartender I've ever incountered in my entire life. Asked how I was going pay before I even order a drink bc a friend of mine was trying to get her attention while she was taking shots at the other end of the bar and not paying attention to other patrons. Drinks were not good as well. Run from this place there are ten other bars in the neighborhood with better service and drinks.
google avatar

Yulu H.

Yelp
Good drink. Loved my rose cider. Terrible chicken wings. All burned and super dry. Good fried jalapeños and Mac n cheese. Fried pickles were okay. Liked their second floor.
google avatar

Brianna K.

Yelp
This is definitely a pregame spot. The happy hour drinks were $7. I had 2 tequila rises , garlic parm wings & loaded tater tots that includes bacon & cheese. The music is pretty good as they do play it all. On Fridays they have a live DJ at 10pm & it changes the whole vibe of the place for the good. The service is bomb. The bartenders are heavy handed (good to me)
google avatar

Yelp
As most dining/beverage establishments, Off The Wagon is still reeling from restrictions placed because of COVID-19. But I must say this place still has a the feel of the bustling chatter and laughter it had before March in NYC. Little Backstory: About two years ago I used to frequent The Step (13th) after work hours to get familiar with the nightlife in the city. I soon found out there were other bars related to The Step- which is how I made my way to OTW. Very proud to say I've had some of my best memories here with people of all walks of life, sharing a drink or three somewhat often. Not to mention OTW has a solid/equipped staff. I hope things can get back to normal to be able to visit this Village staple once more like old times. Pay them a visit and support the local watering hole (they now do outdoor dining)

Yessica B.

Yelp
Best bar ever ! Not only amazing bar food but Draft beer always on point. Great music. Great atmosphere
google avatar

Vin R.

Yelp
Love this place they have cheep beer weekends cool vibe not sure of they have beer pong
google avatar

Lou C.

Yelp
Decent place to grab a quick drink while waiting for dinner or to sit and watch a little bit of a game on the multiple TVs they have at the bar. Drinks are decent, bartenders are efficient, and prices are fairly reasonable for the area.

Emily G.

Yelp
You know, crazy story. I called asking if they sold wagons here but it's just a bar so I figured I'd stop by anyway. Still feeling kind of cheated because there was not a wagon to be found. I'll give a 4th star once they get a wagon in there somewhere. Maybe like one of those Oregon trail ones.

Yelp
Tremendously rude, pricey, and unsanitary. Went here to watch the World Cup since every other bar in Manhattan was packed today. Sat at the bar with family and had the worst experience here. Waitress was completely unprofessional and routinely made obscene gestures behind the counter, Mid tier shots were priced at an egregious $15 a pop, and absurd comments and unsanitary practices were REPLETE by our server. Worst of all, after spending over $100 on drinks and food we were told to leave the bar area because we hadn't ordered anything in 15 minutes with 10 minutes left in the game nonetheless. It was unmistakably my worst experience in any establishment. PLEASE Don't come here and don't support this business by any means. How my family and I were treated today was utterly disgraceful!
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
I actually prefer the vibe of HOTD better ( their sister bar). This one was nice, but I feel like I have to strain my neck to see the TV from the bar. The service here was great, I must add. Our bartender was nice, personable and made sure our drinks were always filled. Note that they have Truly on Tap now, a nice bonus! It's still a solid choice in this area and you can't beat the cheap drinks. 4/5
google avatar

Rohin S.

Yelp
This is your typical sports college / bro / loud top 100 hits --- bar. There is an upstairs and downstairs, lots of room to have a large group drink. The staff was nice. The beer selection was mediocre and the mixed drinks were standard. They play a lot of football/sports games on the TV so a good spot if thats what you want, but too loud to watch. Also the bouncer was v annoying on the way out; just kept telling us to "move" as we were on the sidewalk waiting for an uber, legit made us stand 30 feet away before he stopped bothering us. (Empty outside and not a ton of foot traffic) Long story short; if you want to drink with the bros of NYU, here is the spot. Not necessarily a bad spot, but just know what you're walking into.
google avatar

Barbara R.

Yelp
If there was an option of no stars was available, that would be my rating . This was a first and definitely last time I walk into this place . The rudeness started with the ID checker, who was no where in sight when we walked in , but nearly chased us to the bar stools . Next the 2 bartenders who were more concerned with each other, and checking out the young college girls (eww) than actually serving us drinks . We were never asked if we wanted a 2nd drink or food , more so the frat bartenders were busy checking out the college girls . Stay away and don't believe the hype at this place .
google avatar

Jenna B.

Yelp
Great bar and atmosphere! Loved the music and wish I knew the playlist. Great for watching sports and spending time with friends.

Louis A.

Yelp
The food was good as bar food goes, the staff is friendly, the drinks are well priced. Honestly had a cool time there.

Sebastian R.

Yelp
We were there celebrating our friends engagement. I was one of the few not drinking and was trying to get the tall female bartenders attention at the end of the bar, but it seemed like she didn't hear me. Truthfully it seemed more like she was ignoring me because she was ignoring the majority of our group during our time there, whereas the other shorter bartender was super polite and friendly to us and never hesitated to take our order. So I lightly tapped on her shoulder when her back was turned and politely asked for a water whenever she had a minute. Instead I got a stiff hand, attitude and cold shoulder. So I went back down to the middle of the bar and was able to get help from the other shorter bartender. After a few minutes the tall bartender came back over and while I was mid conversation with a friend, she starts jabbing me in the shoulder, mocking me, "CaN i gEt A WaTer? cAN i GeT a WaTEr?!?" Initially I thought it was a joke because she was yelling it at me in front of our group with everyone staring, but she was dead serious and proceeded to berate me about it. The rest of my friends walked away as she proceeded to lecture me about how rude it was that I interrupted her changing the TVs (had no clue that's what she was doing at the time) and how I had the audacity to lightly tap her shoulder when I thought she hadn't heard me. I apologized and walked away, refusing to spend any more money there. None of the rest of my group (12+ people) spent any more money after the interaction as it left a sour taste in all of our mouth so we decided to finish our drinks and close out. As we were closing, the bartender took it a step further, going out of her way to my girlfriend and her friends, telling them "tell your friend to NEVER touch a woman like that ever again. It's completely inappropriate and It's SUCH a pet peeve of mine". I had already apologized and I thought we had moved on like adults. Going completely out of her way to make baseless accusations slandering me about touching her inappropriately to my girlfriend and her friends completely crosses a line. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Great place to watch NY Giants games. Two floors, many TVs and great food. Six short block walk to PATH 9th Street.
google avatar

Gigi A.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 15 (!!!) years. I can't believe it's been that long but I should probably drink less. This place is definitely legendary. Lots of drink specials and two bars - upstairs and down. The upstairs bar can be rented out for private parties. The best part of this bar is definitely the half price happy hour. Everything at the bar is half off except Long Island Iced Teas. Which is fine because who wants that anyway? I would steer clear of the food. It's all fried and kind of expensive. Eat elsewhere. Also, always count your change. Good rule of thumb. Their beer selection is huge and robust. They have Sam Seasonal, ciders, imports and domestics. Because the whole bar is half price, you can get a pitcher of cider for ~$10 in the village! Amazing.
google avatar

Vinay S.

Yelp
One of the Best Darty Bars in NYC; cheap beer, strong drinks, and upstairs has pong tables! $20 pitchers of beer. 5/5 stars as a day bar.
google avatar

Amanpreet K.

Yelp
Okay let's be real - you go here for the atmosphere, not the food. The three stars are for the service and consistency that you can expect from the visit. Go with your college buddies to watch a game, grab a couple of drinks and maybe a few appetizers. Don't come here expecting a Michelin star experience. Come for a good time and leave happy!
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
- Very cheap beer during happy hour (with a wide selection) - Friendly bartenders - Busy (but not crazy) during happy hour - Loud, with a very fun and inviting atmosphere - The upstairs is a very nice addition that adds some much needed space - Beer pong tables - Good amount of TVs with sports playing - Overall "Off the Wagon" is a fun NYC bar. There's nothing that special about it, but that's okay, it accomplishes what it's trying for. If you're going out with friends looking to have a good time, you will not be disappointed
google avatar

Spēncer C.

Yelp
Warning you're not allowed to wear shades at the bar. Dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.
google avatar

Siri C.

Yelp
Great that this bar is able to remain open during covid! This is more of a beer place and our party ordered wells. Our drinks were average but our food items better- would recommend the fried pickle spears!! The grilled cheese is $2 unbeatable price in NYC.

Leelee R.

Yelp
Went there during happy hour. The price is very affordable comparing to bars in nearby area and the bartender is super friendly.
google avatar

Miguel S.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this place can get packed very quickly. It is nestled near a famous comedy club, a famous nightclub lounge, and a iconic pizzeria, also in a college area. With the word college you will expect to see a younger crowd. There are two floors, the first floor which is usually packed and hard to walk through because everyone for some reason like to hangout near the entrance. Once your past that you will have some breathing room. Upstairs can also be a bit packed but does offer another bar to order from. I find that to be the easiest spot to order from. The drink specials are at NY college level pricing which is great during the days you want party all night. The music is always pumping and making the crowd wanna dance even though you can barely move. They offer games which can entertain those who want that college experience all over again. Beer pong and Dart challenges are always fun. I must say when I was younger in my 20s this was the place I always wanted to be and hang out. Now that I am in my 30s I don't miss it but I do like to peak in to see how the place is because at some point you do grow out of it but it never hurts to relive your youth sometimes. I would recommend to at least checking this place out. If you want that college party house atmosphere this is the place. The drinks are specials are pretty good and if you can get in and find a good spot you will enjoy the rest of the night there. They sometimes have live DJs come in to do some sets and the place is usually jamming. Being on the second floor gives you a good view of the crowd downstairs and is where beer pong champions are made.

Ding D.

Yelp
Been coming here for the longest time and first to order their food. I don't recall how great their food were back then cause I'm usually stumbling drunk but this passed weekend we had an order of wings and it was so freaking good! The cheese sauce was amazing. Not sure if it's the new cook in the back but I'll def come back for the food again!

Edel-ann A.

Yelp
We were racially profiled here. We steered off at artichoke pizza and I ( like a fool in retrospect) was drawn by the music at off the WAgon. We entered because no one was outside. But as soon as we entered the BOUNCER called on us to the front of the club/bar to ask us for verification which we gladly did. As soon as me and my husband went to the front the bouncer asked us if we spoke English ?! . This was terrible and insulting to us both. The subsequent bouncer came outside and asked us to move aside and asked the guy to go inside . The guy outside said "ma'am please step aside" and didn't even allow us to to talk or explain anything. We seriously didn't want to enter the place that eagerly or anything but we definitely felt racially profiled as Indians !!!!!

Alanna M.

Yelp
Good music! Great bartender! We were here for less than an hour but had a great time. Beer pong games happen in the back downstairs and upstairs. We got a round of vodka sodas and shots. It was early on a Friday and still relatively crowded. You can't go wrong trying here - there are a lot of places around here if this doesn't end up working out. We for sure will be coming back!
google avatar

Giovanna P.

Yelp
It's a college sports bar. So you get what you sign up for. The music was fun and bartenders were super nice and fast, prices were in line with what you'd expect. No fancy review required!
