Portland Brewing Will Shut Down Next Month | Eater Portland

"A new quesabirria cart in Hillsboro is serving the usual birria-cart standards—birria ramen, mulitas, and consomé—and also a playful “pizza de birria” that appears to use a quesadilla-style base." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

The birria ramen🐮🍜is super savory and filled with a hefty amount of stewed beef and noodles. It's so savory that the soup absolutely needs that entire bag of cilantro🌿and red onion🧅it comes with. Adding lime juice and even a cup of their tart tomatillo salsa also helps cut the rich, fatty flavor. Overall very delicious and filling! I'm excited to come back and taste how they use their excellent birria beef🐄in the rest of their menu.

The chef was knowledgeable on the different menu options and choices and cooked the 4 taco plate with lime 🍋‍🟩 , onion 🧅, cilantro 🌿 and two special hot sauces. One red/ one green. They had Modelo, corona, and Pacifico by the bottle and even asked me If I wanted it open with my meal or as I waited. This isn't the first place I've been here and it wont be the last. To top it off, they had outdoor cover seating , which was ♿️ accessible. I would 💯 recommend this local business. 10/10 ❤️🫠

I have been driving by this place for some time. Finally, I decided to try, it is really good, the food, the staff is very friendly, the only part that I would like them to improve is while you are eating your meal they should come to yo to check if everything is OK, since they handle the food to you, you pay for then you find a table to sit but they never came to me after they handled the food, I left the place and no questions as do you need something else, do you need salt or another drink, napkins etc. But to have a quick meal is a decent place.

Google
What a great find. We got the birria burrito, and was not disappointed. Lots of tender flavorful pork. Just a Lil rice. And something I've never had before was cheese on it. Believe it's a mozzarella, but surprisingly good on the burrito. Had half for lunch and half for dinner. It was a big burrito. Tortilla had a nice exterior crunch. I'll be back for sure. Oh, the watermelon water was very refreshing and went well with the meal. The green sauce had a creamy avocado taste. The red of course was the heat bringer.

Google
A great find! We were visiting from the Bay Area in July 2022 and just suddenly craved for some good birrias. We were reluctant to try birrias in OR but settled on this place from the reviews. This place did not disappoint. The birrias, vampiro, and quesadilla, were of generous size along with the meat portions. Meat was tender, juicy, and tasty, not dry and without much fatty pieces or chewy tendon like some other places. The consome was flavorful and went well with the birrias. The churros were good. Their outside sitting area was clean too, a welcomed plus. Update: 07/03/23 Came back to ensure it wasn't a fluke last time. Consomme continues to be flavorful. Compared to the locations in CA, this rates among the top....especially for OR. 5* overall! Will definitely return.

Google
Great tasting food great location for us in Hillsboro but service, well there is no service, you order from the truck and eat. There are tables to eat from but you are in a parking lot and that ok. It’s across the lot from Grocery Outlet The most important thing is the food is really good. I highly recommend this place

Google
10,000 / 10! This place is hands down the best Birrieria truck in the entire PNW! My family loves Birrieria and has tried several trucks from here to Seattle. OG Birrieria tops the charts! They are always so friendly, accommodating, their prices are competitive, their portions are huge, and they do not skimp out on meat! Everything is always full of flavor, perfectly cooked and their taco pack of 4 comes with consume for dipping, and sipping. I usually call ahead since there is always a line. Last weekend my family had a craving. I called at 8:35, they happily fulfilled my order even though they closed at 9. (Which I did not realize) I pulled up at 8:51, and despite their best efforts to close, they were still taking orders for those standing in line. I just love them, and I cannot say that enough. If you’re ever in Hillsboro, you must stop by and support this local business. It will not disappoint!

Amanda B.

Google
This place is bar none the best!!! The tacos as fantastic and full of flavor. I ordered the taco plate which came with four tacos, onions, lime, sauces. My fiancé ordered the quesabirria which both that and the tacos had a nice crispy tortilla, melted cheese, and beef. The customer service is kind and funny, and makes you feel super welcome even if you have a lot of questions. He took care of us and has a lot to be proud of.

Yelp
I popped in here to get a Carnitas taco and they informed me they didn't have any Carnitas. I've never been a big fan of Birrieria so I was just going to leave. As I was walking away, the owner arrived and asked if everything was OK. I told him everything was good, but that I had wanted Carnitas tacos. He asked if I would be willing to try their Birrieria- I said yes and he had the gal inside make me a simple taco to try. Welll..... Let's just say- apparently.... I do like it Birrieria... if it's good Birrieria!! The taco was samazing, and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
As someone who didn't really start eating Mexican food until about two years ago, there is one place that's claimed my heart as my favorite number one spot and that's OG Birrieria. I've always ordered the birria taco plate or the quesadilla birria plate (although i've been meaning to try other ones), and they amaze me every time. Service can be quick where I'm used to waiting about 13 minutes for the food to be ready. Whenever I'm in the downtown Hillsboro area, I always want to go to OG Birrieria. It is a food truck, but the outdoor dining is pretty nice with a decent amount of seating and nice shading from the sun.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
Worst birria I've ever had meat was flavorless and tortilla was soaked in grease and the pineapple agua fresca tasted like sugar water. Would not recommend and will not be back
google avatar

Yelp
This place never seems to disappoint. Very very generous portions, so you better be hungry lol. First I've ever ordered was their Birria Pizza and oh my goodness, it's SUPER SIZED!! Super stuffed and super filling. It can feed a whole family, no joke! This place is hands down for me!!

Jose D.

Yelp
Came and ordered 2 plates of the of combo plates Paid 29 dollars Go to get my order and I'm told I only ordered 1 plate For 29 dollars Talk about theft ... Never ever coming back
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
Pretty good flavor of the meat! Not the best birra tacos I've had, those were in Seattle, but decent. I wouldn't say the four tacos alone are filling enough either, I ended up going back for rice and beans. The downsides are that this is pricy for a food cart. 2 meals of 4 tacos was 30$ and it had no sides. At least include beans and rice. With little overhead, food trucks are usually a better deal than a sit down place due to the lack of ambiance. Another note, there's no recycling, and everything is styrofoam. I get it's cheap but we're beyond that stage in the PNW. At least use paper.

Yelp
It's the red taco truck around the corner. It stands out more than the grocery store that's on the same block. Once you see it, you'll likely be in line trying the place, lol. I'm a fan of this birria truck, but it can be a bit pricey depending on what you get. Here's what I've tried so far: ~ Taco Dorado ($2.50 each) and that consomé for dipping: I guess this is what they're known for, and I gotta say their tacos are pretty darn crispy meaty good! And that luscious dipping broth added back that extra juiciness. ~ Three Rolled Taquitos plate ($15): These were topped with lettuce, red onion, sour cream, and cilantro. I liked it, but I'll be honest, I should've chosen a burrito instead. More bang for your buck with a burrito. ~ Birria Ramen ($10): Now this was something different, and something I dig. Don't expect firm Japanese noodles, but DO expect the bowl to be packed with a lot of birria meat on top. I'll just say, I ate all the noodles and made myself some birria quesadillas at home with the extra meat. ~ Gorditas De Birria ($6 each): Pictured on the menu board are three gorditas. I didn't ask and ordered what I saw. Little did I realize, I just paid $18 for them. And for some reason, they took a while to make. I picked it up, and it was hot, but just wasn't anything special to me. Again, that elusive burrito was just taunting me. Even my yelp bud Andrew H ate his burrito in front of my dinky gorditas. ~ Michelada De Modelo ($10): All that's missing with this refreshing drink was a frosty mug. Salud! Regarding service and outdoor dining, the guy at the register was cool, so no issue with service. You order and wait for your pager to buzz. They also provide a small seating/patio area next to it. I believe they share it with other carts. So, will I be back a fourth time? Odds are, I will. But maybe in a few months. After coming here with friends and coworkers, I gotta try a burrito for once lol. AND I gotta try that Birria Pizza! Oh baby, check out the pics of that!

Yelp
One of the best Mexican food trucks, had to be stationed in Hillsboro. Birria, which is slowly-cooked meat in plenty of spices, served on hard and soft corn tortillas make the majority of the menu. We've been there a few times and my favorite so far is the "Vampire", which is on a hard tortilla with cheese. And of course any of these are recommended with the Consommé (Hot and spicy broth). Service by the team is excellent but it takes a while to get the food, a very long time. Plan for that. There are about 5 tables for 4 people where one can seat outdoors with a roof. We've never been when it's raining or too cold, but they also take orders to go.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Tacos were bomb! Sauces were delicious. I'd skip the rice and beans next time though. Guy who took my order was super friendly and helped me decide. The covered outdoor seating next to the food truck is a nice touch if you wanna eat there. Would definitely come here if I wanted birria again.
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
This is my go to spot ALWAYS!! I was addicted at some point LOL they're super friendly and from my hometown. The food is fire and consistent. I secretly save their broth and freeze it cause it's so bomb !! And their Micheladas are worth getting as well when they put all the fixings on it . They also have an outdoor area to eat at if you decide to stay and it's pretty comfy and clean!!
google avatar

Jamie R.

Yelp
We used to love driving to their truck for birrieria tacos but the past 3 times they haven't been good. They're not consistent and I feel like the quality has changed based upon who's working that evening. Unfortunately we'll be making the drive out to Tacos El Patron for birrieria tacos.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
Consume is my favorite. The flavor is so good. Food truck. They take cards. You get a beeper while you wait so you can hang out in your car. It can take a bit especially if they are busy
google avatar

Kristy W.

Yelp
My guy, and I have been talking about birria pizza, we just were not sure where to get it. He happened to drive by while working, and picked up a birria pizza. We eat birria taco's quite a bit, so when he came across this place it was really cool to have more of a variety. This place did not disappoint. I admittedly ate what he brought home, while he had it while it was fresh there. I heated it in the air fryer. It was still really delicious, and can't wait to go eat some taco's. The consume is full of flavor, and really adds to it. We were also really impressed with the amount of meat you get for the price. This place really is the "OG"!

Erik C.

Yelp
Gave this place a try on our way home from Hagg Lake. Got the OG taquitos and the Birria. Overall the food was good, taquitos were flavorful and the dipping sauce was delicious. Only negative was the beans on the Birria were a little charred in spots and tasted a bit off.

Quinton W.

Yelp
(Food poisoning) I thought the food tasted amazing for dinner around 8:00 last night. That was until I woke up with food poisoning at 1:30am and am still dealing with it at 1:30pm the next day.. Hate to put a bad review up but man I will never go here again.
google avatar

Jon W.

Yelp
10 out 10 these tacos are so good flipped in the consume.. I can't believe it took me so long g to try this place out.. lady at the counter super friendly.. I'm going to try and not go back for dinner lol... So good

Yelp
We made the trek into town just to try these tacos. I haven't had quesabirria tacos in years! We ordered the taco plate that included 4 tacos and a cup of consommé. These were so good! It's sometimes difficult to order these and not have them served soggy, these were warm, crunchy and amazingly melty with cheese. The salsas and consommé were very good as well! The order included a green salsa, a red salsa, onions, cilantro and a couple of limes. Everything you need to make these over the top yummy! We also ordered a barria quesadilla and flavored waters. Everything we tried was top notch tasty! The server at the window was super friendly and helpful. She made a couple of recommendations to help us find what we wanted. Even though there were a few people waiting for their order and a few people in line behind us she wasn't stressed, in a hurry, or trying to rush us along. Above and beyond 5 star service! After about a 10-15 minute wait we had our treasures in hand and were happily snarfling it all down. They do have a nice outdoor seating area available with tables and chairs. Bundle up and have a seat if you don't want to eat in your car or wait to get home. This was definitely worth our drive and we'll be back for more when we're passing through the area.

Yelp
Best birria I had ever tried. Came here after I saw this place just driving by.Staff was friendly. Coming from Cali its hard to find legit Mexican food. I'm glad I stopped to tried this place out. It was a bit of a wait, I ordered 1 OG plate and the one with rice and beans and birria burrito, waited for like 30mins. Staff was super busy, so I understood they might of been understaffed. The food though was delicious, I'm more of a quesabirria type of person but those birria tacos with the crunchy tortilla was almost the same thing with the consome on the side, was legit the best I ever had. Kudos to this place, will be back.

Yelp
Excellent customer service. Very friendly. Food came out after a decent amount of wait time. Delicious!

Yelp
I think I found THE FOOD CART OF MY MEXICAN FOOD DREAMS. John was cool when I ordered (guy from Columbia) that just was beyond nice. He helped me bring my order to the table (I'm clumsy af).. and it's just a simple food truck, but to me less is more at times.. especially when I had a rough day.. I appreciate what we would call "a hole in the wall".. but this was a nice food truck, and nice area (to me)..even though my day sucked I enjoyed what little sunshine there was with some good food. Long story long.. it's bomb. I had the crunch birrieria tacos 10/10... I normally don't like birrieria because it tends to be too heavy for me and I get nightmares (yup I do)...it freaking hit the spot. I ordered a Michelada too.. I freaking drank all of it.. normally when I order alcohol I babysit it. NOPE, not today! I decided to take a bite out of my husband's food too and I ended up eating one of his quesadillas.. shhh don't tell him (not pictured).. that was a 10/10 too! Birrieria quesadilla with mozzarella cheese... freaking bomb.. and yeah, this time I dipped my food in the sauce.. I normally don't.. I enjoyed my food experience alone in their little off the side patio, and I enjoyed my alone time for sure! Definitely going there again!

Yelp
Does your palate crave something south of the border? Try the taco dorados plate x4 tacos comes with a beef consommé (soup for dipping and sipping) this style of Mexican flare comes from the province of Jalisco and Michoacán. The cheese is delicious similar to mozzarella (Oaxaca cheese). Chunks of meat are stewed in a flavorful broth with spices. The dish is traditionally made using goat meat, but this was made with beef. Dipping the corn tortillas in the spiced cooking liquid before pan-frying them gives the tacos their signature red color and flavor. The birria tacos come with a simple mixture of chopped red onion, cilantro and lime wedges on the side. Also comes with a small cup of consumé, the cooking broth, is served alongside the tacos for dipping......(wow) very delish.... Highly recommend it, great guys great food truck. They have a seating area but the propane is out so sit in your car or take it home. Watch out for the soup so it doesn't tip over. I really need to branch out and expand my palate but I keep going back to the tacos. A friend said the Gordita's are really good.

Yelp
MUST EAT HERE!!! I've been on a long search for a close location to satisfy my craving. I left doing a happy dance and a big smile on my face. This is my new favorite and I'll be going back again and again and again!!!! It's located in the same parking lot as Grocery Outlet in downtown Hillsboro. They have a covered area with 4 tables. They don't take cash but just about everything electronically so if you do those Venmo things, they take that. It is such a cute and inviting set up. Dress warmly because it does get cold sitting there. It's well lit and they have great music playing in the background. The gentleman cooking the food is also who takes the orders so have patience. Everything is made fresh to order so I wouldn't suggest this place if you're in a hurry. The traffic is also super loud so it's disruptive to conversation but who wants to talk when you're stuffing your face with this goodness. The food lived up to the hype! Generous portions of beef and cheese. It's served hot and fresh. The taco shells were the perfect amount of crisp with melted cheese smothered all over. Dipping it in the broth gets messy but oh so worth it. The burrito is huge, full of beans, rice, cheese, beef and sour cream. They cut in half which is great since I was planning on taking half home. The torta was stuffed full of beef and cheese and a nice surprise of avocado slices. It didn't come with a side of the broth but I shared with my mom and she tried dipping it too. It does not need it but you can't go wrong. The horchata is on point but if you want water, bring your own. They only have specialty drinks and some bottled coke and sprite. Come in hungry!!!! I ate 4 tacos and half a burrito! And I'm ready to go back for more.
google avatar

Gayle P.

Yelp
Thanks for having a flavor consommé this time. 8Pm Will be back maybe tomorrow again. My favorite meat since I'm not a meat eater. I love to drink some of the consommé.
google avatar

Lindsay T.

Yelp
Really good food and avocado salsa. I wanted to sample a few items so I ordered the mulita, soft taco, hard taco and consume. My favorite was the mulita, but all we're good! Expect a little bit of a wait, as there was a constant line of customers, but they were working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible. Definitely looking forward to going back to try more items
google avatar

Becky V.

Yelp
A lot of birrieria specialty at this cart for sure! The Gordita and ramen were my fave. I felt like the tacos could be more cheesier in my opinion and more crispy. Overall, it was bomb for Hillsboro/Beaverton area.
google avatar

Kenya N.

Yelp
So good. Very authentic and a wide selection of dishes. Definitely my favorite food truck right now.
google avatar

Scarlett R.

Yelp
If u want to find the worlds best tacos come here it's so delicious and yummy the birria ramen ooh la la the taco plate ooh la la and everything ooh la la whenever I'm craving a taco I go quickly go to this food truck, the employees like to keep the line moving, which is especially great during lunch there's many things to try without the tacos though. Better place to order ahead of time to skip the line I love this food sm
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
They have added lots of meats still the beef is our favorite Great pizza feeds everyone

Tan F.

Yelp
I'm giving this two stars only because you cannot order online for the order to be ready when you get there! I ordered online and paid, went to pick it up and it hadn't been started because they don't get the orders. I only waited because I already paid for it! Terrible customer service to do this and not tell anyone. Good thing the food is good at least!
google avatar

Keasha K.

Yelp
The Best Flavor and Prices!!! I've paid $17 elsewhere for 4 tacos **here I received 4 tacos, beans and rice for $15**
google avatar

Yelp
Beat bierra I've ever had Grew up in south Peru and I've had my fair share of good Latin food ! To die for ! I kid you not. Definitely have some authentic Latino cooking yo the food if you know what I mean :)

Kristallee K.

Yelp
Great food! Amazing tacos and burrito. Awesome service. Beautiful area to sit and eat next to the food truck. From, Maui

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Good food, good service and a nice covered sit down area to enjoy your food! I get the Birrieria taco plate and it is so good! I highly recommend trying this place out.
google avatar

Alfred W.

Yelp
This is hands down the best birria place in Oregon! Workers are super friendly and the quality of their food is excellent. I've been a few times and I definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Max E.

Yelp
The birria tacos were awesome and juicy, it's a food truck so we sat in an outdoor seating area
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
This place was absolutely phenomenal. I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of the nacho cheese used in the nachos, but everything else was definitely amazing. That caldo was 10/10 and makes me want to come back for the Birria Ramen. No, I'll definitely be back..
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
I've tried all the best quesatacos in Los Angeles and this location is on par with those. The quesatacos are deceivingly small compared to others but they include 4 in the order. The consome is flavorful but can definitely cut back on the salt as it's difficult to eat by itself. Doesn't hurt to add some meat in the consome too. Plantains are amazing. Churros are good too.

Axel B.

Yelp
Good ass Birria nice spot with chairs to eat that is rain proof and it's really nice food with nice customer service
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
Finally got to stop by on a day this wonderful new food cart was open. Was a cold snow day. But next time I look forward have a meal in there new covered eating pavilion right next to the cart. There's a nice tent in front of the cart as well with a propane heater help keep people covered. The food is excellent and a great selection. They provide a nice hot tea to consume while waiting on your order. Staff are wonderful. Wish I had ordered two of everything because later in the day we wanted to eat more.
google avatar

Jen O.

Yelp
So delicious! Ordered the taco plate without cheese. Lots of flavor, the meat is tender and juicy. Love the habanero sauce that comes with it. I recommend calling ahead to order if you're in a hurry.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
OG Birrieria was amazing! I ordered the Birria tacos. It had all of the fixings: 4 tacos, consomé, onions, cilantro, lime, and two hot sauces. The tacos were crispy to perfection, the Birria was tender, and the consomé was flavorful. They also serve quesadillas, birria pizza, mulitas, and much much. Great variety if you're looking for other items. I thoroughly enjoyed the tacos and I highly recommend this spot if you're in the Hillsboro area!
google avatar

Mele V.

Yelp
WOW. Drove out to Hillsboro to try this new spot and I am sold. The birria tacos were delicious, crispy and cheese melted to perfection. It was a perfect blend of meat, cheese and flavor. They have a tent with tables and chairs to use if you'd like. I took mine to go. I also ordered the birria quesadilla but it wasn't as good as the tacos. The tacos had a perfect ratio of everything in my opinion. Definitely worth the drive out west!

Saira C.

Yelp
Service was horrible, been going here for awhile never had a problem until two Mexican men I came across here , wasn't sure about the price so fs ordering online or having to find a new place
google avatar

Aracelli H.

Yelp
We came here as a last minute decision and we're impressed with everything. The flavors and quality fresh ingredients were excellent. We got the tacos, and birria quesadilla, hortchata of all which were a nice good size portion. The customer service was outstanding, very friendly, fast, and welcoming. The set up outdoors is nice, with music playing, clean and and private from the busy traffic. We highly recommend this place !!
google avatar

Jessse R.

Yelp
Orderd the taco plate with consome, it was really good , normally I'm pretty picky with birria but they got it down. I just need to try more items see what that's about. I will be going back & if they are consistent with service & quality I don't see why I wouldn't recommend this hidden gem right here in H town to my friends and family. Recommendation do some cards for plate that would highly boost traffic sales especially in these times , if you guys need help doing them I'm actually capable of helping you guys out I love supporting family businesses!

Kevin B.

Yelp
Best Indian restaurant in Hillsboro. Great Dosa and naan. We had the butter chicken and it was fantastic. Friendly people too.

Gemma Z.

Yelp
it was so good, yummy 100% the drink cups are so big but it's worth it 5 out of 5 stars had an amazing time eating it the horchata is so good if you get the horchata cups are so big but it's so worth it trust me man it was amazing
google avatar

Yelp
I did not expect this much flavor when i tried it, i honestly was just looking for anything to eat. I'm so glad i chose this truck out of all places because i truly did enjoy it. i could not find a single bad thing about this food truck; workers were generous, food was delicious and i did not have to wait forever for the food to come out. I would definitely recommend coming here, i know i'm for sure coming back, maybe even with more people to try.

Yelp
I work at a business right across the parking lot from OG Birrieria and boy am I glad they are there! I say this because the other options are McDonalds or KFC (both calorific restaurants). OG, McDs & KFC are all within walking distance of my business but I do believe that OG Birrieria is much less fat! Always like to order the $10 burrito with horchata!
