OG Chan's

So my favorite place just closed down from one day to another. I tried other placed and the food was just not good. But one day a menu was place on my front door. After looking at it I was not sure about it. However. I took a chance and called in to order for lunch. The call was outstanding as the girl was able to take my order. Once my order arrived which was extremely quick I was thinking this was to quick so the food must suck but I was completely wrong. The food was OUTSTANDING!!! I ordered the shrimp fried rice extra spicy, General TSO chicken made with crispy chicken, sweet and sour soup with crab ragoons and OMG was it delicious!! Will definitely order again and will continue to do so as long as they continue to cook like that. 100% recommend this restaurant.

We tried this place for the first time today and ordered delivery. We ordered a lot of food (big family)- hot and sour soup, egg rolls, rangoon, veggie lo mein, shrimp lo mein, kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli, and orange chicken with sides of steamed and fried rice. The egg rolls and the fried rice tasted off, but the other dishes were all very tasty. There was ALOT of celery in the kung pao chicken, but it had good flavor and was nice and spicy. Nice big portions, and all but the rice was hot and fresh.

Okay yall this is a rollercoaster of a restaurant The service was great! We had a large order and they as promised had it ready in 30 minutes perfectly packed with extra items which was amazing. Now the food though, it was interesting. The portions are huge which is why we chose this place in the first place however it’s also pretty well priced if you know what i’m saying but the food is just not very good. An INSANE amount of celery in our order and some of our dipping sauces were just solid jello consistency?? overall it was not somewhere I would go again for the food but for the service it was 5 stars!

If you want your meal to be fresh and authentic, come here. The portion sizes are plentiful. You get your moneys worth. The place is clean, the service is a bit slow but we came on a cold day. We tried the Mongolian Beef, and the House Orange chicken, both were good and spicy the way. The four egg rolls, and the shrimp fried rice. Definitely want some more shrimp fried rice.

Five stars for OG Chan's! I was really impressed by how fast the service was. The portions are very generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. Plus, they are great at making the food extra spicy when you ask—perfect if you're looking for a real kick!

OG NEVER disappoints. Don’t be fooled by the exterior look of the building the food is golden! Brought my parents to dinner and ordered Beef Chow Fun, egg rolls, spicy fried wings, chicken foo young and a wonton soup and egg drop soup. Everything was FRESH and you can tell cooked to order. My mom (who is the biggest food snob) absolutely loved it. The portions are generous, the flavor is there, everything is amazing. They have a lot of to go orders but we chose to dine in. Pricing is very affordable and decently priced. We will keep coming back! We even got some ragoons for free due to the wait (which we never noticed).

I ordered Chinese food from this place and it was honestly disappointing. The General Tso’s chicken was way too spicy and it looked like they just threw in raw onions and green peppers without cooking them properly. The color and flavor of the chicken were off, and it had a weird aftertaste that made it hard to finish. The soup was also gross I took one sip and couldn’t drink any more. To make it worse, the fried noodles for the soup came in a Ziploc bag, which felt super unprofessional. Overall, the food tasted cheap and poorly made. I’d recommend staying away from this spot. If you’re hungry, you’re better off ordering delivery from somewhere else. (I’m not a picky eater this place is genuinely bad)

I got hungry for some Chinese after eating tacos for days and decided to give this place a whirl. There is plenty of parking at this place, and it's a wait to be seated kind of place. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted by the hostess and told to sit wherever I chose. There were only 2 other patrons in here at the time. The place is run down on the inside and definitely needs a major renovation. The hostess was also my waitress who took my drink order. I ordered hot tea. Instead of a small pot of hot brewed tea, I got a cup with 1 green tea bag and a pot of hot water. Only Chinese place I've ever been that did this, which left me not very happy. I ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Young, and this took quite a bit of time for the cook to prepare. My waitress did inform me that it did take a bit to get it together. Around 20-25 min total time from stove to table. The Egg Foo Young was extremely tasty. The green onion slivers on top versus diced made for nice accent and a little more taste. The gravy was a little darker and thicker versus other places where it's lighter and runny. The food bailed this place out, it was very good. Their lunch menu is very limited, hence why I ordered a dinner style of meal. You pay at the counter on your way out. I give this place a single thumbs up and that's for the food.

Great service, the food was really good I think better than Panda Express I love the food and the ambience was really cool very chill I would go again If am near the restaurant.

If Regret Had a Flavor, It'd Be This Place! This place is plastered all over Camp McGregor like it's serving heaven on a plate, it all lies! Don't let the ads fool you. If this is "Chinese food," then I'm the Commanding General of Panda Express. They served us slimy mystery protein, noodles that gave up on life, and enough peanuts to restock the AAFES snack aisle. If I wanted a jar of peanuts, I'd just buy one and skip the heartbreak. Save yourself the disappointment. Your taste buds deserve better!

The GOAT... I've been to plenty of other restaurants that have similar menus. This place never misses. Egg rolls are addicting here and not like Pandas gross generic tasting egg rolls. Lots of food for the price. Always returning. Even delivery is hot and still delicious. I like the environment, I'm here to eat not go somewhere for atmosphere. Service is always awesome and attentive.

Sorry I forgot to take pics this time....So still in the Northeast and hungry for Chinese and I saw several recommendations for OG Chan's so I gave it a try.... Took me a While to find it... the building itself is VERY non-descript. You walk in to a big open empty room with a counter pretty far in and one table and 2 Chairs... I wondered maybe they only do take out. But the girl at the counter told me keep going deeper in the room and around the corner was the dining room. And there it was. About 10 tables with chairs. And a TV showing some court show. No real decorations that I recall that said "Chinese" to me. Very DARK. I sat down at a table that looked the cleanest. Facing a window looking out onto Dyer. A waitperson brought a menu and asked my drink preference and I got ice water with lemons. The menu was pretty standard stuff, you find at most Chinese places. I got the shrimp and vegetables in garlic sauce with fried rice. And egg drop soup. And egg roll. My soup came and was sooo thick and almost jiggly, it had a skim over the top like it had been sitting in the bowl for quite a while under a lamp just waiting to be taken out. It had no flavor. It lacked the nuance of some ginger or a little toasted sesame oil. I was adding soy sauce and black pepper to it just to give it some flavor... the consistency was really nice and slightly thick and silky, it's a shame it had no flavor. My main entree came and The rice was minute rice. This was not long grain rice. This was those broken, split, pieces of minute rice. Then stir fried and some soy sauce added. I make this for quick Asian rice at home sometimes but it's not all that good. And it wasn't here either. The garlic sauce OVERPOWERED the shrimp and vegetables... that I had ordered for my Main, it was SOO strong, I had to stop eating it after a few bites. I never found any pieces of garlic in the Dish. This was probably Garlic Powder... and someone with a heavy hand made the "sauce". It was just not that pleasant to eat. I picked out the shrimps and left everything else. The egg roll was ok... crispy, not soggy. Not a lot of pork in it, but it tasted alright. I would not come back here, the food just isn't good or any better than what you can make at home yourself.

The Environment was the only downside. No music. Just low voices from a tv sitting on a table. The food was outstanding! Very well cooked and with great flavor. But even better was the staff. Very professional, very engage in and you waited very little for them to come around and check on you.

You don't come here for the atmosphere, not much going on here, but the staff are friendly and attentive. I can say, don't let the look of the place turn you away. It doesn't have the fancy ceilings or lots of Asian tapestry on the walls but the food! Food is so tasty. Your drink will more than likely come in a can, lots of places because of COVID have gone to individual drinks. I think it lets them make a profit. I appreciate they keep a distance between the tables we know how people freak when to close. Do not let the inside, it is very drab, fool you. The food is AMAZING!! I ordered the Mongolian beef and fried rice as the side. Some of the best Mongolian beef I have had in a long time! I do recommend get the mild version or a medium heat. It is spicy, so spicy my eyes watered when I ate a big red chili but it was so good could not stop eating it. How do I explain the beef, it is soft and sauce has a sweet and spicy taste to it. Lots of onions. I ordered the eggrolls, and they are great also. Wow! I asked the kid if they buy them made and he said no, the owner/cook makes them. I must say too these are some of the best I have had. They come 4 to an order. If I lived in El Paso I would be here a lot. I think everything was worth the price.

Hole in the wall place with great chinese! Ordered the shrimp egg fu young and the general tsao chicken. Everything was delicious. Our server was very attentive as well.

Great service by the lady in the front I believe her name was Nataly. The food was delicious I must say! Glad I came in the ambiance was nice and open. I would highly recommend glad we have this place on Dyer.

Place is absolutely horrible. I wish I could rate it lower. As a service member the food we get isn't always the best so I'm expecting to get some better food from this Chinese Place. I've gotten delivery both times and both times they have screwed up my order. Not to mention they say the food takes about 45 mins to an hour both times it's been a little over 2 hours. We ordered and had them repeat the order back and the hot it right so I don't see a reason as to why they would mess up this bad. I definitely would not recommend delivery from these guys absolutely not.

Went for the first time today. I think we were one of three tables there. It's not fancy by any means, but it was dam good. The food was fresh to order, I had wonton soup which had the tastiest broth I've had here in El Paso. The rice was actually fried rice not mushy rice like everywhere else. It was amazing. The moo-goo gai pan was fresh, the vegetables just thrown in, I was just so surprised. I asked the waitress why it wasn't packed, she said they do a lot of take out and delivery. I recommend it 100% !!!! Don't let the outside deter you.

Absolute garbage this place. If I could have given it 0 stars I would have. I ate a quarter of my rice and then I see a black spider just crawl to the top. I almost threw up from it. So then I go back to the place to get a full refund since my wife couldn't even eat her food after this, and this owner really tried to just give me a dollar. I argued back and forth and at the end of the day he didn't care or want to give me my refund. DO NOT EAT HERE. TERRIBLE SERVICE

Ordered spicy hunan tofu and got dry tofu with no sauce and over steamed broccoli. Really gross. I asked for egg rolls and none... super disappointed. Wish I could give zero stars.

I thought I was the only one but but my daughter and I had food poisoning. We did not have anything today till we eat their food, so I'm sure that diarrhea was from the Hunan Beef, because until we eat their food, we were perfectly fine. I felt weird taste when I had the vegetable in hunan beef, some of the potato? tasted like it was rotten. But I couldn't tell if it was from their ingredients, because we do use fermented spice or sauce in Asian cuisine. So I kept going, so did my daughter. 1 hour later, I could not leave my rest room. 2 hour later, my daughter started crying like she on fire or some, holding her tummy.

My daughter and I were remembering the old Seoul Korean restaurant and it made us crave Korean, all of the little bowls of kimchi and other goodies! So we went started out at Korea house on stahala. It was empty and the 2 signs on the door scared us away. (Short staffed, using take out boxes in the dining room) Headed to Gochu on dyer and it was empty as well. We had to walk out because of the odor coming from the bathroom area. It was truly over powering and we had to leave. I'm sure sorry for them but we couldn't overlook it. Ended up at OG Chans and had a great fresh lunch, great service. Vegetables were crunchy and fresh. Egg drop soup was thick and tasty. Girls serving us were sweet. Nothing fancy to look at but really good food.

The food here has yet to disappoint me, everything I have tried has been delicious. The service here is great, no complaints there. The place can work on the decorations, but that's not what you're here for. The food will always keep me coming back.

Food is really good and plenty of it. Reasonable priced. Very causal place. I recommend going here. Do wish the place looked nicer but a chilled place for a meal.

El Paso needs Cantonese restaurants like OG Chan's. I need restaurants like OG Chan's. Do you know how hard is it nowadays to find legit Cantonese food in the US, much less in El Paso of all places? It's hard because 2nd/3rd generation Asians aren't exactly lining up to work a wok. Well, we have one here in El Paso willing to take a chance and open up a Cantonese restaurant... Zamira Navarrete worked hard baking Japanese cheesecake and all of the profits went into creating OG Chan's and her dream of fulfilling a promise to her dad. I broke my rule of buying a bakery item from a home based baker (an aunt baked at home to sell and she had 6 dogs and was disgustingly filthy, so I don't trust them) just because I craved a taste of home. I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and if you know the area, it's majority Asian (49 different sub cultures to be exact). Heck I didn't even feel like a minority until I went to university. It was worth it, her cakes are amazing authentic, super light fluffy, and not too sweet, so I became and fan and was rooting for her when she told me of her goal to open up a restaurant. Her story is also in the menu btw. There were a lot of missteps and challenges, being a new business owner, building during a pandemic and shutdowns, and now dealing with staffing and ingredient shortages, but she persevered. She has apologized and asked to make right the wrongs of her staff and I commend her for it, I've seen business owners not caring at all about feedback. So for her to acknowledge mistakes and try to right them, it speaks to her character and determination to make her business viable. The only new Chinese restaurants that are opening in America are manned by new immigrants who are Mainlanders, which is why you have the baos, hand cut noodles, wheat noodles etc. It's good but I personally ADORE Cantonese food (dim sum, wontons, egg noodles, etc) and to have a great tasting, inexpensive, Cantonese restaurant in El Paso is a wish come true, so I don't know the owners personally but I sure as heck will support and vouch for their food! I mean come on! Their lunch specials are $5+ and it includes hot and sour soup with ALL the ingredients (tofu, egg, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and chili flakes). Do you know how much it costs to source these ingredients that aren't exactly in demand in El Paso? It's expensive, more than $5 that's for sure...I tried, and I still can't make the soup as good as theirs. Their crunchy egg noodles with shrimp and scallops is delicious and full of baby corn, water chestnuts, sliced carrots, scallops and big shrimp for $10. Their beef chow fun with flat rice noodles, onion slices, bean sprouts, tender beef with the legit Satay chili is on point and tastes even better 2 days later in the fridge. The portions are huge and easily feeds 2 adults per entree. So yes, I will fight to have this restaurant stay open and do well, for the selfish reason of delighting in their food. I will drive across the devil mountain to get my fix. El Paso wants food diversity and not another Birria or taco shop? Well here it is, come and support them and be patient. They're new, they're learning, and they're locals trying hard. #supportlocal Oh in case you may not like the food here because it's authentic and not Americanized like Panda or taste bland like Dumplings and Noodles (which is also toned down food), this is why...It's like saying how come New Mexican Chili doesn't taste like Minnesota Chili. Different regions different foods. "China is a big country, people in the north, west and areas around Yellow River mainly consume wheat products, eg. noodles, steamed buns or different kinds of pan fried pancakes in their daily diets, while people in the southern part of China or area near to the Yangtze river mainly consume rice (in different ways such as steamed rice, congee, dumplings made of rice flour) in their daily diets. Chinese food contains roughly 8 different cuisines, Cantonese is just one of them.

I promise I'll take more pics next time but this place is amazing! I've been here about three times thus far and not once have they disappointed. Their lunch specials are extremely affordable and portion sizes are huge. Even their regular menu items can easily feed 2-3 if you're sharing. The egg drop soup is my favorite and it's always hot and tasty, never lacking flavor or egg! I also tried their cheesecake and unlike regular cheesecake the Japanese one is much more spongy, not as sweet and dense but nonetheless it's very yummy. They have an array of menu options and they deliver in the northeast area with a $15 purchase which is awesome! Definitely glad this place is only a few minutes from home.

Wow - where to start! I tried coming about 4 weeks ago, sat down and waited 20 minutes to get water, couldn't even get water, so I left. I gave them a pass because they are new and working out the kinks. No harm no foul. Today.... I ordered to go because I had to get back to work for a meeting. When placing my order was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I stopped to get gas on my way and arrived 30 minutes after I had ordered. Walk in and there is one table eating and I flag someone down to pick up my order and pay. They come to the register I pay and am then informed they need another 10-15 minutes to finish my order. So I sit to wait and 15 minutes comes and goes.... I finally get more order 55 minutes after I originally placed it! I get home thinking at least the food is supposed to be delicious.... I open the 3 different items I ordered off the lunch menu and have to say they are all in the trash now! The chicken is somewhat grey in color which worries me, but I still tried it.... And spit it out!!! The tofu was ok but nothing special, and the fried sesame chicken was severely over cooked to the point of being chewy! Honestly some of the worst tasting food I have had. Maybe I should have ordered the cheesecake.... That seems to be what everyone is writing about, but the food is severely lacking! With so many other amazing choices for every kind of Asian food available in Northeast - save your money and go somewhere else..... anywhere else..... Terrible service- Terrible Food

I don't like to give 1 star... but I felt like I had no choice. I was homesick and wanted Chinese food. I found this place and saw pictures so I thought I gave it a chance. Food- we ordered chicken fried rice, bean curd homestyle, and mapo tofu. The chicken fried rice was good. The other dishes... looked like it was just one dish but split into two. I ordered the mapo tofu but it looked and tasted nothing like mapo tofu. And on top of that, bean curd homestyle was also nothing similar to what I had thought. I could have done a better dish of making mapo tofu. All in all... I am definitely not coming back. The place- it's empty when we came in. The rest they can do is clean and keep the place clean. Service- Waitress was nice. But it took awhile to get her attention sometime. ...then again, it was only another party of two... so I don't know. Parking- spacious. No problem here. Definitely have never been more disappointed in a restaurant... I'm crying inside.

Absolutely the best Chinese food in El Paso. I'm from Los Angeles and finding authentic Cantonese anywhere is a blessing let alone in El Paso, TX. That delicious brown sauce is prevalent in many of their dishes and is an American Cantonese staple. I have not found any other Chinese restaurant that can prepare many of these types of authentic Chinese dishes. This really may be one of a handful of remaining Cantonese restaurants in the USA and it should be treated with royal status while it's still around. 5 stars. Delicious food. Tons of meat and veggies in every dish. Highly recommend.

So happy to have found this place while driving around looking for something other than fast food or tacos. Saw it had good reviews, so gave it a try and was so glad I stopped in! The BEST lo mein, fried rice, egg drop soup and hot tea ever! Excellent, superior quality! And I'm a Cantonese food snob super picky. It's rare to find a place where everything you order is amazing! The service was also very good! Hole in the walls are the best! This place is yumballs!! sad I detoured my food and didn't take photos lol

Fast delivery and piping hot food. If you haven't tired this place you should because you won't be disappointed.

Looks like this place us just getting started as the decor is a bit raw and it looks like there is some ongoing remodeling. BUT don't let that stop you from trying it out. I had the Mongolian Beef, hot and sour soup, steamed rice and it was all very tasty. My hubby had the shrimp with lobster sauce, egg drop soup, steamed rice and it all disappeared. I was lucky to sneak a couple of bites. The egg rolls were awesome. Hot fresh and very yummy. I remember the old Chinese restaurant that used to be here. This is not that place. This is better.

I went here yesterday for my first time the waiter was really nice and always made sure we were okay great service and the food was good and hot the vegetables looked really fresh

Food was okay. Service was okay. They look like they're still working some things out. Decor is seriously lacking.

Based on Oda Jenny's review in the Foodies El Paso group, I decided to try OG Chan's for lunch today. My friends Robert and Tony joined me. The server was very friendly and attentive. We all ended up choosing from the lunch menu which included the lunch entree, egg drop or hot and sour soup, choice of fried or steamed rice, and an egg roll. All this food for about $6 a plate!!! What a great deal! We all got the hot and sour soup. It had a rich, dark broth, was very flavorful and somewhat spicier than other Chinese restaurants. Tony got the broccoli and beef, Robert had the orange chicken, and I got the General Tsao's chicken. The portions were generous and we all enjoyed our meals. But the best part is that they sell Japanese Jiggly Cheesecake!!!! It's only available in limited quantities and you really need to reserve one about 1 - 2 hours in advance. But they were so awesome and made one for me while we ate! It was still hot from the oven when they brought it to me! I had one heck of a time not digging into it on the drive home because it smelled just heavenly!!! I cut into it immediately when I got home and that first bite was incredible! This is a locally owned restaurant and I love to support local. I highly recommend OG Chan's for the food, the service and especially for the cheesecake!!!

Visiting from Los Angeles wanted to try this place for a while now. Let me tell you, the food is amazing!!! And super affordable. Make sure to get their early they tend to sell out. The staff is welcoming and very attentive to you're every need. TWO THUMBS UP

I wasn't really impressed with the food. I mean it wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything I would come back for. The portion size was nice they give you alot of food,but if the food isn't good. I had high hopes but was sadly disappointed. The wait for the food was long too.

Delivery service was quick and efficient. The food was okay. Not great, not bad. Just okay.

Well it was my first time at O G CHAN'S and I got to say the place itself is little to be desired but I thought I'd take a chance and I'm glad I did. I had the egg fu young and it was good and I had the egg rolls also. My only complaint is they should have given more sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls , but other then that I was surprisingly pleased. I will be back!

When I got take out for me and my wife the portions sizes were really for the price. The lo mien was good, my wife loved her chicken fried rice.

Ordered for the first time today and we're a bit disappointed. Lemongrass was not what I was expecting. My fault because I expected it to be like the ones they sell at Vietnamese restaurants. The pork lemongrass was bland. No taste at all. Crab Rangoons weren't good either. My husband says orange chicken was alright though.

Ordered food for pickup, was given the wrong order. Drive home, they expected me to drive all the way back for them to fix the order. Also, all the prices on yelp are incorrect. They have jacked up all their prices.

My husband and I had seen some poor reviews but thought there is no way this place can be that bad. It saddens my husband and my heart to say, we don't see this restaurant open for long. I looked at the posted photos and the egg rolls looked authentic, more like the ones we get at home in Chicago but they we more like fried boxed egg rolls. The hot mustard was on spot though, five stars for the hot mustard! We ordered Hunan Chicken and Beef Egg foo young. We got the Hunan Chicken, it was really salty. The beans in the dish seemed to be soaked in soy sauce, I'm not opposed to soy sauce but it was an over kill, took over the flavor of the whole dish. The Egg foo young, we never got because the chef of the evening did not know how to make it but after theee attempts we were told why we did not get it. We are not upset, just concerned for the owners and the future of a potentially good venue. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Food was good, only thing my shrimp was a little over cooked and not cleaned. Was my first time getting food from there so not sure if it's normal. Walked in and the facility didn't smell too pleasant. Again my first time there so not sure what it was. But other than that, my food was good and was ready by the time I got there.

Loved it! So yummy. Affordable and great portions. Fav spot in the NE. We ordered the general tso's and noodles. The beef and broccoli is phenomenal. Egg rolls were amazing!

Got about $80 worth of food to try it out. We got salt and pepper chicken wings, fried rice, egg drop soup, basil shrimp, and a few beef dishes. Food was great and the employees were super sweet. Next time we go we plan on getting one of their Japanese cheesecakes!

I worked there for 3 days. The kitchen was so nasty. On the third day he told me to wash the dishes with just cold water and a sponge. I told him good bye I quit. There were cockroaches in the kitchen the owner was smoking in the kitchen. I called the health department.

Absolutely horrible! Ordered combination fried rice (meat tasted rubbery and the chicken was nasty) shrimp egg foo young ( the gravy was automatically on it and I guess I bit into an egg shell) and egg rolls (under cooked). I do not recommend this place!

Very poor customer service, I was polite when my order was wrong. The lady yelled at me and was very rude. Did not fix my order but threw the wrong order in the bag and pushed it at me. Proceeded to stomp away. DO NOT COME HERE

We enjoyed our meal from OG Chans. My husband and I both ordered items from the "Popular" section of the online menu--egg rolls, crab rangoon, beef and broccoli and General Tso chicken. The food is not heavily spiced or seasoned, so the flavor of the ingredients shine more. The beef and chicken were both tender and the vegetables were tender-crisp and fresh. We will eat here again!

Oh sooo good! Just moved here from out of state and the food at OG Chan's is delicious, and the prices are reasonable! I would like to see more pork dishes, however they do substitute and you can add pork to the any of the dishes. It is great that I moved so close to this Chinese Cantonese restaurant. I will continue to order Chinese food from this restaurant. Thank you for great service and great food!
