The Best Coffee Shops Around Boston

"This Japanese coffee roaster and shop elevates the casual morning cup into a consistently excellent experience. Go classic with a rich and fruity house blend or explore seasonal offerings, like the vanilla lavender latte with a sauce made in-house using real lavender and vanilla beans and a salty-sweet smoked maple latte. Non-espresso drinks lean delightfully unusual. Take the Houjicha latte, which is made with roasted green tea powder for an earthy, caramel-y kick. The foam art atop each latte is a perfect finishing touch, too." - Erika Adams

"Latte Art from Japan I usually think of tea when it comes to Japan, but one visit to Ogawa changed my mind. Aside from the gorgeous latte art they are known for, this artisan coffee house from Kyoto is committed to the perfection of the beverage through sourcing, roasting and preparation. As soon as you walk in the door, the aroma is enough to give you your afternoon fix. I loved their stadium seating for a unique change of pace and they also offer interesting sandwiches and Japanese snacks in addition to beans. Try the Single Origin Trio, three small cups of single origin coffee served side by side for a bit of caffeine heaven."

Good service, but honestly, I didn’t really like the cold brew. Just an average coffee, nothing that stands out or makes me want to recommend it. The place is small and always packed—definitely not family-friendly. There’s barely any seating; you end up standing around like you’re at a football stadium. Fine for a quick solo stop, but not much more than that.

Google
This was probably one of my favorites coffee shops in Boston 😊 I liked it so much that I ordered a second oat milk latte to go. The coffee options for sure were better than the food. The breakfast options however are solid. Absolutely recommended.

The store was not heated, quite cold to sit in. Hojicha latte was decent. Avocado bacon stack was fresh. The lady handing out food was very sweet. Starts to get crowded not long after it opened.

I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte and my god this is the best I have had in Boston. It felt very authentic and very crisp. Definitely recommend this place for your Matcha cravings! The cafe tables were a little messy with people leaving plates behind and can work on the cleanliness. Slightly on the expensive side but worth every cent!

Google
This was a coffee shop I was dying to visit even before coming to Boston. Since it’s originally only in Kyoto, it felt special to be able to experience it here without having to go all the way to Japan. I loved it so much, I went twice during my trip! The first visit was on a chilly day, so I ordered a warm drink, and the second time it was hot out, so I went for an iced version. Both the matcha and hojicha were absolutely delicious. It’s definitely a popular spot—seating is limited and parking is even harder—but it was totally worth it. A must-visit for tea lovers!

Google
Totally disappointed. Came here on a rainy day because I heard they had great latte art. We ordered two large latte and got pic 1 and 2, which is completely different from what others got (see pic 3). I asked them for an explanation for such drastic difference in service, and the only explanation I got was due to the cup size. As you can see from pic 4, they CAN DEFINITELY make nice latte art in a bigger and taller cup if they want! They did not offer making another one for us and insisted they only make nice latte art for small cup. Will not come again.

Google
Ordered the Hojicha cake roll set. Told them everything was for here. Got my cake in a small plastic box. And later realized that the ice cream was missing. The cake tasted very dry and disappointing. Do not recommend. The tea latte and coffee latte were good.

Noyonika Parulekar

Google
The coffee here is overpriced for what it is. The beans don’t taste like anything special and there aren’t any unique or creative drinks. The seating concept is cute but it can be uncomfortable when it’s crowded and you just want to sit down in a normal seat.

Yelp
I always been a take out regular on the weekdays and the drinks always have been great. First time dining in and I like the space. I'm a big fan of the various seatings since it gives a different perspective of the coffee shop. However the service tend to be slow due to the high volume of patrons. Will be coming more often on the weekends to enjoy the space!

Yelp
I've never been to a place that was so busy and quiet at the same time but I loved how chill it was. We had a mocha, a dirty chai, and a Bacon, Egg, and Avocado bagel. Everything was delicious, came out quick, and the staff was friendly. Seating is minimal and all communal so be aware, but it wasn't an issue for us as we found a seat easily as it's a largely transient crowd. I want to come back and try some of the coffee straight up and definitely want another one of those bagels...

Yelp
Pretty full and lively when we stopped by around 11am on a Friday. There is some limited seating. There was no line, but it did take a while for the coffee to come out. I got a hazelnut latte with oat milk and this was really good!. The latte art was pretty. I would come back again for another cup of coffee!

Yelp
Ogawa Coffee is a coffee roaster founded in Kyoto. I've been looking forward to visit their Boston location for their matcha latte and hojicha latte. We arrived when they just opened at 9 on a Saturday but the cafe was already half full. After the taste test, I prefer their hojicha over matcha. I will try their coffee next time as this is what they're actually known for. *Hojicha Latte $6.75 It is so difficult to find a high-quality hojicha latte in the US. My bf has never had hojicha latte and he described it as a "melted hojicha ice cream". As the tea was roasted, it didn't carry the grassy flavor like matcha. It had an almost cocoa-like deep and intense flavor. *Matcha Latte $6.75 The matcha latte was good but didn't really impress me to be honest. Not sure which type of matcha powder did they use. I thought it was ceremonial grade but not the finer or finest one. Just a note that I saw their barista whisked the matcha and hojicha in a paper cup(?). This whisking method was questionable to me, but I didn't find any clumps on the bottom of my lattes so perhaps it was fine. *BLTE Sandwich $12.50 *Chive & Cheddar Scone $4.50 We tried their breakfast food but it was a miss unfortunately. The BLTE was fresh and delicious, but quite overpriced imo. The chive and cheddar scone tasted bland and stale. I gave up after a few bites.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick little afternoon pick me up and enjoyed my hojicha latte! It had really nice roasted notes. Not only did the foam had strong hojicha flavors, but also the latte itself. The drip coffee was also solid. The space itself is pretty cute! Besides the regular tables there was also an area with 3 giant staircases that you can freely sit on with blocks to serve as side tables. Staff were polite and drinks came out at a reasonable time. No issues with the guest wifi. Pastries looked yummy too but didn't get a chance to try. Don't forget to bus your dishes!

Yelp
Not much to say. The matcha latte was bitter, likely due to low quality matcha. The matcha cake roll was interesting, I appreciate the creativity. The sauce on the plate is art fully executed and the gelatin cubes are made with coffee/espresso. But the ice cream is just hood brand and very average. The pourover was atrocious. Tasted of nothing but roasty coffee. No flavor notes, no fruits, no citrus, no silk finish. Honestly a waste of $9 for a pourover. If I could get my money back I would. Thankfully now I know and I won't come back when I'm looking for a nice cup of coffee. They are better off just serving drip brew and they won't have to spend the time on doing pourover since it has none of the good qualities that come along with it anyways. Overall, it's a cool cafe, it's a fun little spot but it's over priced, not very high quality food/drink and I would prefer to spend my money elsewhere.

Yelp
On my last visit to Boston I needed my caffeine fix before leaving for the airport so I took my partner to Ogawa, where I had my first matcha latte in the city maybe five or six years ago. First impressions- still just as popular as I expected, especially with young people and college students doing work on their laptops. Seating is limited... few tables and the tiered wooden bleacher-like seating which I think they might want to consider redoing. When I sat down after getting my drinks I noticed the whole structure wobbled whenever someone got up, walked up or down the levels. I ordered a lavender latte and my partner got hojicha. We were visiting from San Francisco and were pretty shocked by the high price of our drinks ($8-9) since we can get quality matcha/hojicha lattes back home for less than that, in what we thought would be a more expensive city. I'm chalking this up to there being fewer options for matcha in Boston, and maybe the location. Both drinks were creamy and the perfect warm treat on a chilly day.

Yelp
A great place to do work and catch up with friends. There's a couple tables and a staircase area to sit. The matcha latte is good and strong. I asked for mine a little sweeter and they made it just right. My drink came out quickly although there was a couple of people infront of me in line. The prices are a little more expensive as it was $9.10 for a medium iced matcha latte

Yelp
The egg + tomato + avocado might be my new favorite breakfast sandwich in all of Boston! The ingredients were fresh, the bagel was fluffy, and the flavors were so unique and delicious. They added the perfect amount of their house made mayo so that the flavor complemented, instead of overpowering, the other ingredients. It was also great value at under $10. One note is that it was pretty crowded when we were there at brunch time on a Saturday, but they took and came out with orders pretty quickly and have a nice stadium/staircase-style seating area to wait in instead of having everyone stand around the counter. I would definitely come back for the egg + tomato + avocado again and to try more of their menu items!

Yelp
What a lovely and interesting coffee shop! We stopped here for some morning coffee and breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised by the great service and friendly staff! Our coffee was delicious and such a treat! The bagel sandwich was interesting with a balance of a subtle spice and slight sweetness. The matcha roll cake was my highlight and loved the little additions on the side. Will be back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The matcha art was beautiful. But the matcha was a bit spendy even if considered a high quality matcha latte (over $9 for a 10 oz with no tip!). The drink was pretty rich but also bitter so make sure to ask for sweetener. For a place known for their matcha, I was disappointed to find large chunks of matcha at the bottom. I don't think it was fully incorporated. I wasn't wowed for the price. The wait was quite long and it was very cramped inside. We wanted to sit but no seats. No problem; I understand it is the weekend. It did look like some people were camped out studying for a while.

Yelp
Great place to stop by for some coffee or matcha in Boston's. The place was pretty packed for a Friday morning. The matcha latte was great and tasted like good quality matcha. The latte art was also a nice touch. Prices are a bit steep for a latte, but at least it taste good!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in Boston. I enjoy their variations of matcha lattes a lot. It's hard to find a spot to sit down since it's almost always packed. If you are lucky and find seating, I suggest trying their menu as well but other than that, this place is more of a grab and go kind of coffee shop!
google avatar

Sylvia Y.

Yelp
I got a hot Cafe Mocha. Was hoping to get the cute cat or bear design that I saw in some of the Yelp pictures but got the standard design instead. It took a while for my drink to come out but thankfully I wasn't in a hurry. Communal seating inside with lots of natural lighting.

Yelp
Ogawa's actually from Japan and this is the only US location! Got the classic hojicha to go (they do matcha and hojicha best!) and the staff here are also so sweet and funny! Got an almond croissant to go with it :) They have a sit down roll cake menu, so I wanna come back next time in Boston! Best variety of seating indoors, and good study space too imo.
google avatar

Yelp
Ogawa is one of my favorite matcha shops in America! I visit Ogawa every time I come to Boston! Matcha latte is strong, creamy and just sweet enough. Ambiance is also super nice, but sometimes hard to find a place to sit down, especially hard if you're looking to get some work done. But overall, love this shop and would recommend to any matcha lover!
google avatar

Kanika K.

Yelp
Very cute ambience with stairs to sit on like a stadium , interesting menu options and pretty crowded on Saturdays! They do have wifi here! They told us that that our coffee would take at least 30 mins to make and it did take that long indeed. The biggest highlight and thing to note here to be ready to shell out $10 for a smoked maple latte here tho. It's def good coffee but it did come as a surprise to me that it was so expensive! We went there when we were in downtown and on the freedom trail and felt like getting coffee to wake ourselves up!

Yelp
I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm always eager to find good tea spots. The drinks themselves are very well made. The temperature is just right, the milk foam is one of the best I've had, and the tea flavor shines in the drink. The downfall of this place is the price, and the crowd on the weekend. It's tucked at the corner of downtown crossing and the financial district so it's not very convenient to get to unless you're already in the area. There is free wifi and many people working there but in my opinion, it would be way too crowded and loud for me to work. Also not a good place to sit and chat- again because of the large crowds. If you do happen to be there during a quieter time, I think it would be a cute study spot.

Yelp
We came here this morning for breakfast and drinks. The drinks were good basic chai and coffee. It was nice the cashier asked us what type of milk we wanted. However, the bagel sandwiches were awful. We ordered egg and cheese on wheat everything bagel and They looked good and freshly made, with over hard eggs. But the wheat everything bagel had no flavor and sandwiches were drenched in oil and tasted like oil. There was actually oil dripping off of the sandwich. It was actually the worst bagel sandwich I've had, made me feel sick, and we couldn't even finish half of our sandwiches. For $40 for the two drinks and sandwiches (including tip), I was not impressed. Not sure I would return for food, but the drinks were fine. There are large bleachers to sit down and a few small tables throughout. There is also one gender-neutral bathroom.

Yelp
Really cute cafe that is Japanese background. Everything was very good and came out at a decent time. They have limited food menu, but big enough where everyone can get what they want for a quick breakfast. Lattes are SO cute!!!! Seating is limited!

Yelp
#12 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES Was super excited to try this place because of the reviews! Plus it's been on my Yelp list for a long time. However, pretty disappointing:( My friends and I would all consider ourselves daily coffee drinkers and we were all disappointed in our vanilla lattes (both iced and hot). The iced vanilla latte tasted really watered down. And the drinks are expensive! There are a lot of communal tables and seats. It's a great place to study if you can do lots of noise and busyness. Overall, the drinks are expensive for what you get...

Yelp
My partner and I got a matcha rose latte and iced hojicha latte - TASTE: 4/5 - slightly bitter matcha paired w sweet rose syrup in my latte. The hojicha was satisfying too, though maybe could've used more powder for a stronger taste TEXTURE: 4/5 - the matcha latte was creamy and the rose petals were a nice touch PRICE: 4/5 - subtotal came to $17; the matcha rose latte was pricier at $10 SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 2:30pm on a Friday, and the space was mostly full. Got our order less than 10min later ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - narrow space with lovely, tall ceilings. Most of the seats at the communal tables were filled w folks on their laptops, and was different seeing stadium seating in the back TAKEOUT: 4/5 - appreciated that, although our order was to go, the matcha rose latte was still nicely presented, without its lid, for a photo op PARKING: 4/5 - got a metered street spot on Arch St and walked 5min

Yelp
Most recent visits - I got a Gingerbread latte and an Eggnog latte. See pics. One is a hot drink one is cold. The gingerbread latte (hot) is good for the holiday season but it does have a unique taste that might not be for everyone. The eggnog latte (cold) is like a 10/10 in my opinion. This year it tastes better than last year or maybe it was just the person making it recently who did it so well. I could drink like 3 or 4 of those at one time. Quite addictive. If you like lattes in general, I think Ogawa seems to be the latte experts.

Yelp
Brief Summary: - Coffee is not sour - Coffee beans can be sold separately - Indoor seating - Bus your dishes at the end of the hall - Order is called by your name One of the coffee places that interested us in going when we arrived in Boston. The cafe is situated in a quaint building with tall windows welcoming guests from the entrance. There are tables of different seating counts inside. In the back, there is a large bleacher seating area. In total, I visited Ogawa Coffee twice in the short vacation time. In the first visit, we focused on having an early breakfast and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. There was a line but it went by fast, and there were more guests ordering a cup and head on their way rather than sit. I ordered a cup of latte, the pour-over coffee with one of the coffee blends; we chose the Kyoto blend, and the matcha rose latte (this is a special/seasonal menu). Food, we ordered two bagel sandwiches with different fillings and one egg salad sandwich. When the food or the coffee is ready, a name is called, so I was being careful of listening for it. Once the staff confirmed our sitting location, they brought the food dishes all at once. The drinks were called earlier and these were in different orders. The fastest was the latte, then the matcha rose latte, and finally the house pour-over. This one arrived in a tray with a siphon like pitcher and a beautiful little cup (black with momiji leaves). It was a elegant presentation. The two bagel sandwiches didn't come with a side salad, but the egg salad sandwich did with a dressing poured over in advance. The bagel sandwiches were not toasted, so overall the sandwich texture was soft. Even the egg salad sandwich was lightly or barely toasted, despite the toast marks. I enjoyed the egg salad sandwich flavor, and I also loved how there was a mix of lettuce and tomato for a equal ratio of vegetable and the egg. The pour-over coffee was a delight. Despite it being a purely black coffee, there was no hint of sourness, very easy to drink. It was also an extra nice touch that there were seconds. The latte was delicious as well, more coffee flavor over the milk. The least sparkle was the matcha rose latte. The appearance is very pretty and photogenic, but when I drank it, the rose flavor overwhelm and hid the matcha. On the second visit, the weather was hotter, so we chose cold drinks. I asked for an iced coffee and the iced hojicha latte. I have seen a couple of guests walk out with the hojicha latte, so I decided to give that one a try. My first impression of the iced coffee is that I should have asked for an iced latte. It arrived as a cold coffee with no sugar added, so while it wasn't sour or bitter it was closer to an iced tea. The iced hojicha tea latte was an odd one I'll say. There was a powdery aftertaste on each sip, as though the hojicha wasn't dissolved well. I didn't get much of the tea flavor either. Overall, if I want to visit Ogawa Coffee once more, I'll skip the tea and the cold drinks and choose hot drinks. I'll also explore the lunch menu further.

Yelp
Super cute spot right in down town, unfortunately parking is always a pain haha. If you have a friend or partner with you we usually just double park with hazards on and the other runs in. They have super cute coffee art but today we. Decided on a couple matcha latte's i def could taste the matcha it was refreshing and flavorful. They are slammed mid day when we went so it took a bit to get the drinks but that just means others enjoy this spot like we do. Go check out some of the cute art they do with their drinks and try them out

Yelp
My second time here and came for the sandwich and drink. The vibes are pretty chill and is clean and welcoming to work or have a catchup with your friends. I got a hojicha latte and love that it's not too sweet and you can taste the good quality taste of the tea. I love their sandwich and always got the bagel with egg, bacon, avocado. I think the sweet chili mayo (not spicy at all) makes a big difference and a nice addition taste to the sandwich. The staff are very nice and friendly. They are also pretty knowledgeable. Will definitely recommend to check out if you love coffee or tea lattes. I heard it's a franchise from Japan and only have one location here in the US. :)

Yelp
Ogawa coffee was recommended to me by a couple different people and I have to say worth the wait. Many college kids are starting to move back so the line was out the door! Service was kind and quick and the shop was filled with people. The matcha latte I got for myself was pretty decent, I'd say it's 3.5/5 (which the flavor was stronger) but the coffee was delicious! Would come back again if the lines weren't as long.
google avatar

Maddie V.

Yelp
This is such a good coffee shop to go to if you're looking for a little bit higher quality tea or coffee than some other places in the area. It is a bit pricey at around 8-9 dollars per drink but you do get what you pay for! This place does get really busy with people studying, working or just hanging out. So, if you're looking for a quiet coffee shop this would not be the place to go.
google avatar

Benjamin L.

Yelp
Coffee you can taste! Artisan made coffee that is carefully detailed by the barista. The ambiance is elegant and calming with a hint of Japanese culture. Highly recommend to have your coffee sitting instead of to go. Enjoy the taste and environment of this beautiful cultured establishment.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Great coffee. I ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was made with the traditional phin. Everything bagel with egg and bacon was flavored well. It was different and has a great umami flavor. I had the cheese and chive scone warmed. My 6 year old daughter shared the scone with me and she liked it a lot.
google avatar

Yelp
Item(s) ordered: 2x cappuccinos and 1x gluten-free banana muffin The Verdict: Heck yeah! The Review: Up front, I will go ahead and admit that the prices are higher than average. BUT, if you get what you pay for, I'm all for it. Ogawa SERVES. The latte art was wonderful. The milk was perfectly foamed and tasty. The espresso was smooth. Not to mention their heavenly gluten-free banana muffin, which they purchase from a vendor called Buttery. The interior is interesting and different from other cafés in the area. The staff were also very kind. Upon doing some independent research, apparently Ogawa is a Japanese-based company and this location is their first international venture. From seeing the options in-store, there are some beans from Japan, in addition to many options from across the globe. As a coffee maven (okay maybe not just coffee), it was a pleasure to have this unique café experience. I'm excited to be moving close by and spending all of my income at Ogawa :)

Yelp
Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon. There is plenty of seating inside but it may take 15-20 minutes for the drink to be prepared due to the constant stream of costumers. We didn't mind waiting and it was great place to sit for a while. Highly recommend the iced caramel latte! The coffee was very smooth.
google avatar

Joy G.

Yelp
Not a coffee person so take this with a grain of salt BUT the hojicha latte here is the best coffee drink I've ever had. Perfectly nutty and roasted, nicely balanced with almond milk (which tends to be polarizing), topped off with some beautiful latte art. If you love coffee drinks, definitely worth a stop if you're in the downtown area. Lots of seating, including the stadium-style seats near the back, but be careful scaling those steps while balancing a hot drink in your hands. The few drawbacks: 1. The specialty coffee drinks are not cheap. My latte came out to about $9. Ouch. Definitely can't do this every day. 2. The drinks do take a while to come out, so maybe not so good if you're in a rush. That said, everything I saw was made with care and attention. The people working here are super nice. The prepared food looked good; maybe I'll try it next time.

Yelp
Great cafe to grab breakfast! I ordered the Smoked Maple Latte and a BLTE. Both were really good! The smoked maple latte was very smooth and creamy. Sweet yet a little savory. The flavor was light, but perfect paring for any sandwich or pastry. The BLTE sandwich was a great portion and I liked that it came with a side salad. I ended up having the second half for lunch, definitely better fresh though. The bread was soft and the chili mayo, egg, and bacon tasted great together. The bacon is not as crispy as bacon you would get from other breakfast spots. I came here when it was not very busy and really liked how the cafe was organized and decorated, however, can definitely see it being more crowded when its busy. Overall, would recommend this cafe! I will definitely be back to try the Iced Hojicha Latte!
google avatar

Yelp
A very cute coffee, tea shop. I ordered the Houjicha Latte with oat milk, OMG, it was so good. This is the best roasted green tea latte I have ever had. It's was rich and creamy with an earthy flavor. I could drink this all day. We also ordered the salmon bagel on an everything bagel and it was great. It had plenty of salmon and the bagel was toasted. Service was quick and friendly. I went back again the next day and ordered the Houjicha latte with oat milk. I wish they would bottle it.

Yelp
I know some people will like the vibe of this coffee shop, but it is not my vibe. The layout is very creative, with a set of high school bleachers reminiscence seating, but also window seating if you don't mind being observed or people watching. My friend had a cappuccino and I had a macchiato, both which were fine/good. Nothing was particularly aesthetic so I had not remembered to take any photos. Everything is overpriced. That said, I will be going back to try a matcha beverage, or a drink that is more specialty.
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
The line for this Asian themed coffee shop was going out the door on a weekday morning, but for good reason! I ordered a hojicha latte and sat at the bleacher style seating. The ambiance was nice, with some groups chatting and many people doing work. Would definitely come back when I'm in Boston again!

Humberto S.

Yelp
It was okay. Colleague and I went 16 minutes before closing and the person at the register seemed annoyed or was ready to go home. Those who were cleaning up were nice telling folks they were closing soon. The cortado tasted alright - nothing special but appreciated the decoration of the flower with the milk by the barista.
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
The rose matcha is really high quality and could tell they pay attention to detail. The matcha was really dense and not too sweet. And the froth was really creamy so it went well with the matcha. It did take a long time for the matcha to come out since there were a lot of people and I could see that they were taking their time making each latte. The cafe is not too big and has limited seating. But I highly recommend to people who are in downtown Boston to check it out.
google avatar

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
I have been eyeing their hot latte drinks because I kept seeing the latte art. Stopped in after having brunch and decided to get iced matcha lattes instead since it was so hot outside, to cool down. It was pretty busy inside, with a bunch of people sitting, waiting for their drinks. Took about 10 minutes or so for our drinks to be ready. The iced matcha lattes had strong flavor and are definitely worth getting. Next time, I do want to try other drinks that they have, but so far, it's a thumbs up from me!
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
A great little cafe on a random side street, with lots of seating options, real pour-over coffee and a wide selection of brewed to order teas both hot and iced. A great discovery in the area!
google avatar

Shelley Y.

Yelp
Having recently returned from a trip to Japan, we were craving a good iced matcha and hojicha latte so we were excited to try this highly reviewed cafe. We were so disappointed by both drinks. They did not taste anything like matcha or hojicha. Since we were not enjoying our drinks, we ended up getting a latte and cold brew as well. The cold brew tasted burnt and was quite bitter. The latte (no sugar) was the only drink we kept. Needless to say, we will be continuing our search for a good match latte in Boston
google avatar

Jillian S.

Yelp
I had a beautiful rose matcha latte here. Pricey, yes - exquisite, also yes. Service was good. Seating is limited. Would come back solely for the beautiful matcha latte art.

Yelp
On Saturday late morning, this place was packed! There wasn't any seating available but the service for to-go was still very fast. I ordered an almond croissant and vanilla latte, and my friend ordered a chocolate croissant and iced smoked maple latte. They warmed our croissants for us. We both enjoyed our morning treats!

Yelp
A Japanese-based coffee shop in Boston, this is the place to go. I got the coffee jelly malt with avocado toast. Both delicious; both aesthetically pleasing. Also a veggie quiche with a matcha rose latte. Finally, I had to finish it off with a matcha cake roll that came with coffee jelly, vanilla ice cream, and strawberries. Also, they gave free samples of their pour over which was also one of the best portable pour overs I ever had. Highly recommend this place. An outstanding option as I leave Boston.

Yelp
Ogawa's matcha latte was so amazing -- so creamy and so rich. Although the price was high, the quality is definitely worth it once in a while.

Yelp
I had a great experience a few months back with the hot matcha, and stopped by again for the iced matcha. I found a hair inside my drink this time, which caught me super off guard and was high key unappetizing. Aside from the hair, the drink was solid. I think the hot matcha was a bit better, but I may be biased from the hair incident.

Yelp
Small cafe thats filled with college students. Not a bad thing. I love how quaint this place is in this big town. Got the Houjicha which was impeccable. P quick service and nice staff.

Yelp
Was craving matcha on this cloudy and cold day, so went to Ogawa since it's known to be so good Great vibes inside, it's a bit tight for more than two people, but my friend and I found a seat at a table (the bench area looked cute but felt too dangerous for mugs full of liquid), good space to talk or work or do general cafe things! The actual matcha itself was a slight let down, the matcha flavor was pretty subtle and also tasted maybe more earthy than other matchas I've had? On top of that it was $9 after tip and tax, so felt not value. But I've been here before once and remember really loving the Hojicha I got, so still 4 stars! Maybe the matcha was just a one off experience :')
