Yelp
Pleasantly surprised when we came here unexpectedly. We were actually just picking up ice cream from Baskin Robbins, but we decided to check this place out since it was just right next door. When we walked in, aromas were already wafting tantalizingly through the air. The restaurant was crowded on the day before Christmas Eve. So many people were dining in or grabbing take out. After eating here, I can see why.
We took a look at the menu and were bombarded with choices. But ultimately we ordered a mix of Chinese and Hawaiian - seafood platter with all mac salad, bbq chicken with all mac salad, chicken katsu with all mac salad, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper pork, and Mongolian beef. So my old favorite place for Hawaiian was Island Flavor, but they've changed over the years in terms of quality. This Ohana might be a new favorite. All the Hawaiian food was delicious. And I liked that they allowed all mac salad without upcharging, unlike Island Flavor. The bbq chicken was on point. I've had better chicken katsu, but it was passable. They were generous enough to give 2 helpings of katsu sauce when asked. The seafood platter's fried fish was a surprising hit. I thought the shrimp and scallops were overly fried and overly breaded, but they were okay. It came with a really yummy tartar sauce. The Chinese food was also surprisingly good. The honey walnut shrimp and Mongolian beef were pretty good. I could've done away with the salt and pepper pork. And the Chinese food came with generous portions of white rice. So more reason to get all mac salad for the Hawaiian food.
In sum - I guess the overall takeaway was that the deep fried foods for the most part were just okay, but not bad. Portions were huge. The restaurant is generous with their food and sauces. Service is great. I would come back.
