Where to find Hawaiian barbecue in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Ohana Hawaiian BBQ has four locations in Las Vegas, all of which serve combination plates with protein options such as barbecue chicken, beef, short ribs, and pork. Diners love the restaurant’s pan-friend noodles with beef." - Krista Diamond

I was really looking forward to a casual Hawaiian BBQ fix at Ohana—and sadly, it missed the mark on almost every level. From the moment I walked in, the place felt run-down; peeling paint, flickering lights, and a nearly deserted dining area gave off a sketchy vibe that left me uneasy about staying after dark. Despite arriving when the shop was empty, I ended up waiting nearly 35 minutes for my food. Two parties who showed up after me received their orders first, which only amplified my frustration. Service itself was polite but oddly disorganized, and the long wait felt even more unjustified given how empty the restaurant was. When my dishes finally arrived, the fish platter was so overcooked it had turned rubbery and dry—each bite was a chore to chew. The ribs fared no better: charred beyond tenderness, they snapped oddly under my fork and drained any juice or flavor I’d hoped for. Neither dish felt worth even a fraction of the price. Speaking of prices, I was shocked at how high they were compared to other Hawaiian spots in the area. You can get a far better, more authentic plate for less at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue down the street. Their portions are generous, the flavors are spot on, and the atmosphere—while still casual—is clean and inviting. If you’re craving Hawaiian BBQ, I’d strongly recommend skipping Ohana and heading to L&L or another local favorite. You’ll save money, enjoy real island flavors, and avoid the uncomfortable surroundings and endless wait. I do not recommend eating here.

Food: I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with rice. Service: mid afternoon no line and Easily to order. Chicken was made to order and super hot. They put the sauce automatically on the side. Interesting and I did not request that. But I'll take it. Two scoops of rice. I would remember next time to just tell them to mix the sauce with the chicken, I think it would taste better that way. Ambiance: some tables and booths to sit on. This is a chain but this spot is seems different to the one on rainbow. Ample parking like most Vegas plazas away from the strip.

I live on the south west side of Vegas and I drive all the way to the east side just for this Hawaiian food place cause it Really brings me back home just really authentic flavors they make it fresh. They care about their customers So with that being said, thank you for your service you guys are wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Google
Hawaiian Food! I had the Loco Moco & Chicken Katsu here and it was great! I highly recommend both when going into the restaurant. One big tip, you need to go into the restaurant. I ordered online once before, and it's not even close to the same. I think the online service is using a ghost kitchen, so go inside.

Very goid staffs good so delicioues I came here very often thank you

Google
Great fast food hawaiian take out. Huge portions and BBQ is on pointe! Try the combo plate with Ribs, chicken and pork. Or chicken Katsu. Plates big enough for two people, unless your real hungry.

Google
Great place to find while the kids wanted McDonalds and I still can't figure that out. The chicken katsu was delicious and the portions were large. I could not finish it in one sitting. Nice clean restaurant and they had Sriracha or chili paste that you could take with you in small plastic containers. I suggest getting some of that chili paste to add to your chicken katsu.

Google
UPDATE - ONE YEAR LATER What a difference. Their chicken katsu is now comparable with the likes of Aloha Kitchen. Which is great for me because I live minutes from this location. Maika’i!! Ordered the chicken katsu. At first glance, it looks amazing. But, then you see how thin the chicken is. In fact, I think the breading was slightly thicker than the chicken. I’m not exaggerating. There was barely any seasoning as well. Cost was $12 and some change. A huge disappointment.

Yelp
The garlic shrimp is really good!! Definitely enjoyed it over rice. The restaurant was very accommodating also.

Yelp
Small restaurant with great food! I was little turned off when i first ordered - lady (red tinted hair) was not friendly at all. Very cold service & her tone was a little rude. Wasn't expecting this as normally hawaii style restaurants have such friendly workers in my experience. Getting past that situation, i ordered the Lau Lau plate since thats what i was craving. I must say i considered changing my mind looking at all the pictures of their offerings on the wall! Small restaurant with a pretty big menu from lau lau to Honey Walnut Shrimp. Lau Lau was good sized, great meat to laulau leaf ratio, tender & juicy. Mac Salad was pretty good as well. I would of prolly gave 5 stars if it wasn't for the service - food is good tho!

Yelp
The food quantity is great, and food quality is great, and service is nice, is clean and good.

Yelp
You can't beat the portion size!! My bf and I love going here because we know we'll be getting enough leftovers. The bbq chicken was cooked very well but i expected a little bit more sauce on it. Make sure to grab teriyaki sauce before you go if you need sauce. I love the crispy kau gee! The service is very fast and friendly. Small inside but i've only over gotten food to go from here.

Yelp
I wasn't feeling well and wanted saimen for lunch while at work so I ordered some and a spam musubi for a small lunch. I ordered through DoorDash and everything was well packed, I love that the noodles were separated from the broth and the musubi was well packed and delicious! The rice was on point and the nori was wrapped tightly. The saimen was everything I needed to feel better. Thank you for the comfort food I needed. The service was great from the restaurant to the delivery driver and the ambiance was great.

Yelp
I ordered this to be delivered and I am so happy I did. The food was soo good. Just what I needed for lunch. Everything came nice and neat and included the sauces I asked for. I can't wait to actually visit in person!

Yelp
May 25, 2024 - Saturday, not in the mood to make anything at home for dinner. I wanted something that was filling. Hawaiian plate lunches is always the answer for me. The last time we came here to Ohana Hawaiian Bbq was in 2015. We had lunch and our food was okay, that is probably why it was awhile before we came back. Most of the time it depends on who's cooking. Tonight it was just me and mystery arm, lol that's what I call my other half in my reviews. We walked in and everything looked the same, except for the glass participation where you make your order, probably since covid, but the dining area was clean, a few guests were enjoying their meal, after we made our order and sat down, about 6 or 7 people came in after us. It was so comfortable and relaxing. I as always wasn't sure if I just wanted my Lau Lau or the Kalua Pork too, well, I usually get both because they both sound so good, can't forget my side Kim Chee, it's the good brand, some places don't have the good brand. It was so good, for me to only eat half of each, it was filling and satisfying. Mystery Arm got his Won Ton Soup, it also comes with Napa Cabbage, Broccoli and Carrots, and if Krispy Kau Gee is available that is a must for him. The Kau Gee was worth the price, it was really good and fat. Most places don't fill theirs like these were filled. I love that they use the tables to put the condiments on, it seems to stay cleaner that way. Yes we probably should have come here instead of going to other places, than we would have known how good the food was here. I mean the food just reminded me of home in Hawaii. Looking at the menu and the pictures they have up, this is an option for father's day next month. They are located on Warm Springs and Eastern, behind the Wendy's. So if your hungry for something that is filling and satisfying stop on in for some good food with good company and I guarantee you a good meal!

Yelp
Good. It's just good. I've been going here for several years and on top of being good the quality of the food is consistently good. I've never gotten something wrong and I've never gotten home missing something and that says a lot.
google avatar

Mitchell S.

Yelp
Spam fried rice was incredible, and the spam masubi was one of the best I've had in town! Ordered on uber eats for pickup, and they always have great deals on there.
google avatar

Courtney N.

Yelp
We order through delivery. Overall decent food, some items were a bit dry but the flavor was definitely There

Yelp
This was may favorite place for Hawaiian Chicken Katsu and Mixed Plate. The quality of the food tonight was terrible! A warm welcome into the restaurant would of been nice, instead it was as if I was an inconvenience. Moving on to find another place that the food is delicious and the staff appreciates my business! Good luck!

Yelp
Today was my 2nd visit there. Got the same thing as I got the first time, cuz honestly, they make "Ballin' On A Budget" doable. Their Katsu Chicken at only 11 bucks is enough for 2 meals, really. 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of some awesome macaroni salad on the side of that as well. Service here is good. Homie at the counter is super friendly and personable. Is this place fancy? absolutely not. Is this place good? yes. generally good, not like "good for a place like this," or "good for the price." nope. Give this spot a visit. With the average price of their dishes, you won't break the bank, and you'll leave full and happy.

Yelp
Super yummy food with plenty of bold flavors, yet not overpowering. Service is always done with a smile and the ambiance is inviting. We ordered the bbq mix plate which has chicken, steak, short ribs, rice, and plenty of macaroni salad. I like the macaroni salad because it serves as the perfect complement to the ribs and steak. Yum!
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
The salt and pepper pork chops are my favorite, but I've also tried different items and they do not disappoint. The portions are also huge so that's a plus.
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
YAYYYY THEY READ SPECIAL REQUESTS!!! I'm really relieved. The last two experiences are forgotten. If you're good at better communicating your needs this place will accommodate you. Thank you Ohana bbq!! I appreciate you!!

Yelp
Came here with a coworker for lunch as we wanted Hawaiian food. They were extremely busy with takeout orders so the staff at the front didn't take my order for at least 5 minutes. When he took my order, he was not the friendliest; no greeting and no thank-you was said. I ordered the Mini Loco Moco, which came with macaroni salad, short-grain rice, a burger patty, and salisbury sauce. My coworker ordered the same thing and said the service was also pretty lacking. Both our orders came after 10 minutes and I found the sauce to have a strange brown, almost purplish hue to it (I am used to loco moco sauce being more of a deep brown). Nonetheless, I started eating and then noticed that the bottom of the burger patty was so overcooked that it was blackened (meaning they burnt it, and eating burnt parts is carcinogenic). As such, I scraped off or ate around the burnt parts and finished the rice and sauce. The macaroni salad was okay; same quality as the pre-made ones you can buy from the deli section at the store.

Yelp
Found this place recently and glad I did. The food it really solid and their portions are massive. I eat a good amount and I would have a rough time eating all the food in one sitting. Normally I eat it for lunch and dinner. Prices are very reasonable.

Remy C.

Yelp
Well looking for a change. 2nd time, unfortunately, the Fried Shimp combo didn't meet my expectation, too dry!

Tony F.

Yelp
This is probably a one off, but don't order the honey walnut shrimp, or anything with shrimp. It gave me food poisoning on 6/11/25. Other than that, the food is good.
google avatar

Casey G.

Yelp
This is a small establishment with limited seating. You walk up to the counter to place your orders and then they will bring your food to you. They have a great spam masubi. I wished that the spam slice was a little thicker instead of so much rice, but it had great flavor. I am a fan of finding a decent masubi. Their sauces are self serve at a little table set up in the corner. They give you a lot of food and the prices are affordable. This is a wonderful Hawaiian BBQ joint that I am happy to have found.

Changez R.

Yelp
Food is really good, service is great. Appreciate it overall. Easy accessibility to this location too

Yvonne B.

Yelp
The walnut shrimp was excellent. Very large portion so I didn't notice they forgot the walnuts. I will be ordering again very soon. Delivery was very late however overlooked due to how good the entree was.

Kathy R.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place. The food is soso not what I expected for their Loco Moco. $9 for this small amount with the thinnest piece of egg

Eunice Y.

Yelp
This chicken katsu was disgustingly bad. Look at this chicken katsu. NO MEAT AT ALL. It also tastes gamey like it went bad. Same thing with the mac salad. Never eat here unless you want fishy tasting katsu and food poisoning. This is seriously horrible business practice if they decide to serve this thing. i would rate this negative stars if i could.
google avatar

Allen Y.

Yelp
Came here to try the Hawaiian BBQ mix which comes with everything from beef, short rib, and chicken. Beef and short rib has good flavor but it was too chewy. Chicken and mac salad was delicious though. I would just stick with the BBQ chicken when coming here.

Sherri D.

Yelp
Food was delicious with large portions to take home or share. The spam fried rice was especially good! They could use a bit more help, but the food was worth the wait.
google avatar

Kiarra M.

Yelp
2DAMNGOOD. the curry katsu and Singapore noodles are . V quick with pick up orders as well. Takes 10-15 min for your food to be done.
google avatar

Angie A.

Yelp
OMG! This food was so good. I ordered a delivery and it was still piping hot. They got the order correct and even gave me extra sauce that I didn't ask for. What a day pineapple chicken, which was very sweet and pineapplely. I ordered double max salad and rice. Their Mac salad is so good.

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for that one spot that will bring me back to my childhood and remind me of trade winds and great food. I had never, ever been a big take-out person before the pandemic but even over a year later we are still ordering dinner and trying new spots. This was another place that wasn't on my radar but decided to try it because we wanted something a bit different. And I have to say this place was as close to authentic to me as any of the other places we've tried. Was it gourmand and hip with the best quality food you'll find ever? No. But it did remind me of those mom and pop places with screen doors and spam musubi waiting for me? Yes. If you grew up in the early 90's in Hawaii (on Oahu, in particular) you'll know what I mean. The take out from here was a straight take back to plate lunch places with huge portions. We were actually quite surprised by the straight authenticity to what we remember. We got BBQ chicken, beef, katsu and loco moco full plates, a spam musubi and malasadas. All were solid and delicious. Mac salad was pretty good. Spam musubi was spot on. The malasadas. Ok. Are they like the ones from a specific famous bakery or any of the knock offs of those? Absolutely not! But you know what they are like? When your teacher or friends mom would make them at home? Maybe she even had the recipe where you dunk white bread into batter for "malasadas." Yeah that's them. I had my Ratatouille moment here. ONO!!!
google avatar

Karina R.

Yelp
Salt and pepper calamari! My ultimate go-to. They never disappoint me. Will always come back.
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
The BEST chicken Katsu I've ever had. All the food we got was so so good. And amazing staff as well. Sadly I lost the photos I took of our food. Go and discover your new favorites.
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Fairly similar to other Hawaiian fast food chains with a larger, more diverse menu. The service was fairly quick, leaving with my order about 10 mins after placing it. I ordered the BBQ Mixed Plate with a side of Spam Masubi. Everything was still hot and fresh after I got home nearly 15 mins later. I would definitely go back to try other options in the future. My only r commendation for improved service would be to remove the giant Covid-era plexiglass partition at the register. The restaurant is generally too loud and the cashier is too quiet to fully understand. Particularly when he is wearing a mask as well.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
I went here on a whim and decided to try it out. I alway go by my standard of loco moco. I was greeted when I walked in, a lil quiet place. Located next to a shopping center. The food, I did have to wait on for a bit. Portions were good, flavor was good. Overall, no complaints, all around good. This place has my vote.
google avatar

Rosa M.

Yelp
Best Chinese food and Hawaiian! Quality is great love this place. Sorry Panda is trash next to this place! Great service and fast. They so many options! You wont regret it

Axel H.

Yelp
I ordered from this restaurant before and they have delicious food, but I was sadly disappointed with the quality I have received today. Since the bbq chicken was barely seasoned and tasted really bland. Hopefully they can stay more consistent with the quality cause their food is delicious.
google avatar

Haydee C.

Yelp
I ordered 4 items that cost $60 + with $5 plus tips and 2 of the combos I ordered was suppose to come with Loco moco the app even asked for how I want my eggs but when I got home there was not even 1 single loco moco.. katsu was hard and the shrimp garlic pepper was not like how the picture they have no shell hard n dry so disappointed the food smelled so good
google avatar

Henry N.

Yelp
Came here to try their Hawaiian BBQ, BBQ chicken and BBQ beef were good, Katsu chicken was dry. Their chinese food selection is also good, mongolian beef, and eggplant tofu were great. Will be coming back to try other stuff on the menu

Yelp
Location: Corner of Warm Springs and Eastern, just south of the Airport area. We had noticed it but never stopped because every time we passed by we were heading home and were not in the stop and look mode. Venue: Small shop with half the tables closed for Covid 19 precautions. Actively open for take-out and delivery. My guess is, take-out is big here regardless, covid or no covid. Authentic Hawaiian: Yup, you can't tell the food here from what is available at any plate lunch takeout place on Oahu. From the sticky overcooked rice scoops to the mac salad, it is authentic. The Kalbi and BBQ chicken were spot on. The menu also includes malasadas, kimchi, and Aloha Sun drinks. I added photos of the menu because it is extensive. Other Las Vegas Hawaiian wannabes don't have a menu this huge. If you are not from Oahu, this authenticity will not be as meaningful to you. But, if you are a connoisseur, you may be able to fully appreciate this quality. Also, if you are from Oahu, you already know that "Hawaiian" does not really mean Hawaiian. It means local style food that is a mix of Korean, Japanese, and Filipino, etc. Prices: Low... and the portions are huge. Perhaps you can find larger portions on Oahu but this plate lunch will feed two. We are coming back. Vegan/Vegetarian: Sorry but you are out of luck. But there are a few vegan places along Eastern. While the others are inside Ohana ordering, you can do a take-out order on your phone and your vegan dinner will be ready at your next stop. Works for me.

Yelp
Re-review. The little lady up front is always very nice. They got my order wrong, but it wasn't intentional. This last visit the order was right and as always the food is soooo good. I can't give you 5 stars due to the wrong order, having to drive back in traffic etc but, your business is too good to negatively review.
google avatar

Pua P.

Yelp
They were friendly and place was clean Food was average. I've had better. We are islanders and had much better food. There's no wow factor about the food here.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Seriously epic portions, prices and great service. We had the bbq Hawaiian chicken. It came with rice and yum Mac salad. Kids loved it.

Kitchen G.

Yelp
ordered a loco moco and two spam musub... everything was gross, nothing in the loco moco was seasoned and the Pattie's tasted like they were reheated from being in the fridge, and I spent 19 dollars for them to also forgot one of my spam musubi's and the rice was just awful. I was just trying to get some food for my girlfriends lunch break and it didn't go as planned
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Ohana missed the mark. Spam musubis didn't have enough teriyaki sauce. The chicken katsu was just really thin strips of white meat so they dried out in the fryer. The curry seems old and coagulated. The bbq chicken didn't have any sauce on it at all. The chow fun was aight but a little on the mushy side. To quote Kevin Sorbo, "Disappointed!"
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
*covid take out order* Tried their mix plate and pick 2 with chicken katsu and loco moco. Overall wasn't bad but not the best. Some flavors were lacking for the meats and their tonkatsu sauce is more watery then what we are used to from other places. Fav meat between all was the tonkatsu chicken. Overall decent portions and prices and customer service was average. Glad we tried this place but not sure if it will be on our repeat list.
google avatar

Monique Q.

Yelp
Conveniently located On the corner of warm springs and eastern in the Walmart marketplace shopping center so there's more than enough parking. It is located right next to the smoke shop. They're open late which is why we tried it out. They appear to serve Asian food and their rendition of Polynesian food. It is definitely NOT authentic Polynesian food and they appeared to use a lot of onions which overpowered a lot of food. I was definitely hoping for the best cause they had decent ratings on Google reviews; made food fresh; however I should've checked here. Anyhow they were affordable so it wasn't that big of a loss.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Always disappointed to see take out containers that are styrofoam still and little to no vegetarian options. And overall not as healthy as you'd expect to find in "Hawaii".

Tara ..

Yelp
I just moved into the area and saw the establishment as I was going for grocery at Walmart. I was so hungry and decided to finally try it out. I ordered the spam musubi and chicken Katsu mini plate. Now I believe that you can't really mess up a spam musubi, but a Mac salad on the other hand is something that I'm picky about. There are so many Hawaiian restaurant here in Vegas but I gotta say that this place was only the second restaurant with the Mac salad that I actually enjoy. Now I'm really not hard to please as long as you got a great Mac salad you will get a loyal customer from me. I'm so very glad that this place is so close to where I live now. I will definitely be returning. Sorry for the really weird review I'm currently munching but I gotta get this out of my chest.
