Oink & Oscar Sandwich Shop

Stopped by this deli on my journey to try every deli in SF. This place did not disappoint and I really enjoyed the sandwich I had here for lunch. They have a large menu with mostly pork based sandwiches. The option I ordered, Three Little Pigs, had lots of fillings and was very tasty. I walk by this place frequently going to the movies so I will definitely be by again.

October 2025: Stopped by for lunch and tried the porkstrami sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll. Sandwich was awesome 👍. I really liked the porkstrami. It tasted leaner than a "typical" pastrami meat. Flavors were excellent. I'd come back again for more delicious sandwiches. Store had a lot of candy selection. Many hard to find candies.

Great specialty sandwich shop. It is expensive for that San Francisco for you, and at least you're getting the sandwich that you can't get anywhere else. The picture shown is of The rubenesque. It was awesome.

Delicious sandwiches! Efficient ordering system and quick turnaround. Thoroughly enjoyed the Three Little Pigs. Packed with meat and veggies, wrapped in an actually crunchy Dutch crunch. Great spot for a lunch!

I’ve been waiting YEARS to try my first sandwich from these guys. If you remember, they were all set up in 2020 but then Covid hit so they never got to open-until now! And WHOA…so legit. Next time I’ll order one of their custom built sandwiches, but I wanted to keep it simple on this first run so I ordered the Porkstrami on Dutch Crunch with Swiss and their special sauce…so good. The meat was juicy and flavorful and the bread was PERFECTLY fresh and toasty. They have a great selection of soft drinks and snacks and CANDY. I will definitely be back. Many times.

One of the top sandwiches I’ve ever had, the menus a little overwhelming and they recommended I get the Three Little Pigs being a first timer. It was insane. Next time I’m gonna go for the cold sandy, most likely hog heaven. Also you can build your own which is cheaper unless you go wild on customizations. I’d recommend eating there or ASAP to prevent it getting soggy, I went at like 2 PM and there was no line, but I have heard they can run out or be a long line. All in all 10/10

The best tasting sandwich ever! I had a three little pigs(I liked the option of a few fixed dishes for those not yet familiar with the options). The sandwich was prepared while I waited, although delivery and order on line for collection was available. A stunning hot sandwich which I ate sitting on the benches outside and enjoyed. They supplied a wet wipe which was much needed by the end of my meal.

Picked up my pal Pastapazoo at the Italian Athletic Club on the Square, and asked if he rather to go to Molinari's or the Board, it's my treat....He flat out gave me the evil eye like only a true blooded Italian could do, and said "We got a new best deli in the city now...The Oink & Oscar Sandwich Shop, just a few blocks away on Mission" Well, we went...and he was right, the sandos were Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Oink & Oscar is a premium sandwich shop located along Yerba Buena Lane. It's really nice that they opened here, as the other restaurants in the lane are fancier sit-down spots. That said, I wouldn't call Oink & Oscar a cheap bite either, though you do get what you pay for. As the name suggests, the sandwich shop dishes out pork-based sandwiches. There are also options for vegans and vegetarians, but most of the menu revolves around the pig. I opted for the Rubenesque as I had been craving a Reuben for some time. It was full of flavorful and delicate meat, and the portion was substantial. The Dutch crunch bread was crispy without being hard. Some other reviewers suggested that the sauerkraut overpowers the flavor of the meat. I tend to agree; the second half of my sandwich had less of it, and I enjoyed it much more. This is a simple fix if you feel the same. My total bill after tax and tip for just the sandwich was $22.72. That's not a cheap price, but the sandwich was fairly large and the ingredients were premium. And the fact that I would return again to try another sandwich says volumes already. Ultimately, I recommend Oink & Oscar, though I would warn you to check their hours before visiting as they are somewhat limited.

I can hear Meghan Trainor sing the commercial now... "Because you know I'm all about that pork 'Bout that pork, no brisket I'm all about that pork 'Bout that pork, no brisket I'm all about that pork." How could I avoid a sandwich shop that makes pork its protein specialty? I heard about the "porkstrami" where they switch out brisket for smoked pork butt. After reviewing the menu of signature sandwiches on the green board (Photo 7), I decided to take the more conservative route of the order form with the retro golf pencil. I decided to bypass the porkstrami in favor of their braised pork and chose my favorite, Dutch Crunch, as my vessel of choice. Then I checked off sharp provolone, the house mayo, olive relish, the lettuce mix, tomatoes, and red onion (Photo 9). Yes, I kept it relatively conservative since it was my first visit. However, I was surprised how hefty and stacked it was. It was also pretty satisfying with the razor-thin slices of braised pork quite tender. I sat at one of their terrace picnic tables and could only devour half of it. The rest of it came home with me because you know I'm all about that pork. I've only been here once but as a sandwich lover I remember seeing that the Chronicle had listed O&O in their top sandwich list so as I was nearby I had to drop by and check them out as I hadn't been there before. Now I have sandwiches at least once per week and often more. My current rotation includes Salty's, Deliboard and Rhea's as well as Ted's so you have an idea of what I like (I live at the edge of the Mission). Wow, the Three Little Pigs ($16.95) - Braised Pork, Porkstrami, bacon and smoked Gouda, with sweet bacon jam and pickled jalapeños - was terrific! I got it on Dutch Crunch and while it was a little messy, the flavors and ingredients were top notch! I think it's the first time I had Porkstrami and i love it! The space itself is clean and there's nice seating outside as well as some stand up spots to eat at inside if you want that. Definitely wanna come back and try some of the other sandos but will probably just get the Three Little Pigs again

got the three little pigs ($18.64) on pickup, it was warm and toasty still. the portion is HUGE, and I liked the porkstrami and braised pork. I wish there was more sweet bacon jam, couldn't really taste it

I need to try it again. After reading reviews and perusing the menu I was excited and expecting greatness, but my Salvatore was just okay. The bread had a nice consistency and the sandwich was a good temperature but the slaw and meat combo kind of lacked flavor aside from a little spice. I probably need to find something on their menu that better suits me and I will eventually get around to giving Oink & Oscar another try. Oh, I don't have a clue what to do what the ticket that was wrapped with my sandwich. Nothing was said about it, was just in there.

It feels like this place has been in the process of opening forever, so glad I could finally give it a try. Lots of sandwich options, but it seems like the stars are the in-house made pork products. Delicious, though definitely not a place for pig haters. Windy City Dip (Hot & Sweet): I'm a big of French dips, so immediately gravitated to the option with au jus. When they called out my name and handed me my sandwich, I was like "where's the au jus?" Apparently they dip the whole friggin' sandwich in the au jus and give you a soggy mess. I was super apprehensive, but decided to dive in. It was actually delicious. Totally wasteful for napkins, but worth it. Like the bread was penetrated with more au jus than if I did a quick on-demand dip before each bite. The thin slices of house made roast pork were good too. And the pickled veggies, with a little kick, were perfect to offset all that richness. Rubenesque: Had to try the house made porkstrami. It was presented a Dutch crunch with pickles, pickled cabbage and a bunch of cheese. The pickled cabbage kinda dominated the flavor profile. The porkstrami didn't seem as potent as regular pastrami. It was good for sure, but I just didn't get the same spices from it. Maybe the cabbage was obscuring the flavor?

Simply delicious! Best Italian sub I've had in the area. Spotted this place while looking for good eats, and was very impressed. Place is easy to miss, and has such a simple sandwich shop vibe-- def worth the visit. Solid selection of pork based sub sandwiches, hot or cold, or build your own. At $17 a sub, it's a little pricy, but sandwiches are big, loaded with meat and veggies, and have such a strong quality flavor. My go to sub is always a classic Italian, and the pigsty here was very impressive! Really healthy cut of deli meat, with strong flavor, and big enough to fill me up! I wanted a softer bread so I opted for French over Dutch crunch. The menu was a little tricky to understand so I asked the guy at the counter-- very polite and friendly and answered all my questions. Popular hot sandwich is the three little pigs. It's also very good! And you can add cheese! Order came out in reasonable time.. don't have stop watch going, but would guess 5-7min? So not super fast, not slow. But def with the wait. Large selection of bottled sodas and other beverages. Standing area to eat in restaurant or some large benches outside. Napkins wrapped in the sandwich. And they enter you in a raffle to win a free sandwich with every order. Great place for a quick and delicious lunch! Recommended.

One taste, I am hooked. Got the 1962, thick, taste, perfect balance, and big enough to share. Located along an outdoor walkway there is no inside seating but there are communal tables outside. The staff was fast and only waited a few minutes for them to freshly prepare. They have a selection of different sodas and unique retro candy. $16.59 for the sandwich is a steal especially if you share.

OMG! I wish I could give this place 6 stars. This place is amazing! The menu is so different than any other sandwich shop. It took me a couple minutes to review the menu but ultimately selected the "Pig Sty" and it was incredible. It might be the best sandwich I've had in years. The size and weight of the sandwich was impressive. The dutch crunch bread was slightly crunchy but not too crunchy. The meat was piled on and the balance between meat and toppings was perfect. I even like the little moist towelette that came in the sandwich bag to clean your hands when you're done eating. I can't wait to go back!

I've only had one sandwich from Oink & Oscar so far, but I will definitely be back. This may be the best new sandwich shop in downtown sf. The only comparison in the area is Deli Board, in terms of quality and portion. O&O: $17. Porkstrami. You can order ahead online or by phone. Location is close to Powell BART (about a block) on Yerba Buena Lane next to Feng Cha on Mission St. Deli Board: $22-24. Pastrami, corned beef. Maybe that's why it's more expensive? No ordering ahead. You have to get in the queue, so it can take a while. Location is on Folsom, 3 blocks from Market St/Civic Center BART. Both are large portions--I eat half for lunch and save the other half for an early dinner. O&O's three little pigs was really good. A little sweet with the bacon jam, a little hot with the pickled jalapeños.

This might honestly be on of the best sandwiches I've had, maybe ever. Did the build your own and added extra pork, and oh my goodness this thing weighed more than a baby - can easily fill two people. Everything was so fresh, the Dutch crunch was perfect - toasted and carved out, so the bread to filling ratio is unbelievable. Staff is super nice, place is clean, highly highly recommend this new spot in Yerba Buena!

Solid sandwiches! Cold and hot options, great theme, and much needed pick me up for that location.

A really good start but missing a few final touches. First, I love the ease of ordering and the enthusiasm of the staff and positivity. The place runs like a well oiled ship, and I was delighted to see old school vintage candy that I used to get at the barrel candy store decades ago - and at a reasonable price! The Rubenesque is listed as a signature hit sandwich, and I like to try signature dishes first since that's a restaurant's best foot forward. Full disclosure, I used to live in NYC so I'm super picky about big sandwiches, and I love a sloppy joe from New Jersey. The Rubenesque was a little underwhelming, honestly. I prefer a creamy sweet cole slaw on my sandwiches, but this was more of a pickled cabbage situation and the brine soaked through the Dutch crunch bread, eliminating the crunch and overpowering the flavor the meat. I took some of the cabbage/cole slaw off and ate it that way and found it more satisfying, but I still wanted a bit more of a satisfying crunch as a Dutch crunch-head myself. The orange soda was this brand I've only seen in the south in Texas when I was out there for a conference. And the candy was a nice little dessert. All in all, a good start and I look forward to updating my o review with my next order - I think I will try a custom sandwich next time instead of one of their signatures.

We LOVED Oink & Oscar! We're visiting from Arizona and just loved this new restaurant. The decor is clean and adorable. We could decide between so many delicious meet sandwiches. We opted for the Three Little Pigs with homemade bacon jam. OMG! To-die-for! We're staying next door at the Four Seasons and will definitely be back before we leave town. The service was excellent! We met the owner who took time to help us decide from so many delicious choices! Such a great experience as part of our San Francisco experience.

Great place for an awesome sandwich, one sandwich feeds two people, great location , near BART

Well, I think I found my new favorite sandwich spot downtown. Tried two of their sandwiches and both were unique and delicious. I would recommend the cheese sauce which was a nice addition to my sandwich and the pickled veggies gave it some extra bite. Plus they had a vegan sandwich for another person in my group who was also very happy! All in all, I will be coming back to try more.

All I have to say is WOW. The decor is spot on, the theme is on point and the food is delicious!!!! You can go with their recommendations with your pencil and paper order sheet or you can customize anything you want. There's no limit to the amazing customer service. Friendly staff and so much love in the sandwich. I will be heading here anytime I'm in the city. Thank you for the great experience

Although I'm not into sandwiches, I had to try Oink and Oscar since they seem like nice local people that home makes their own meats and pickled toppings & have daily fresh bread. I was also skeptical of paying $23 for a sandwich. I ordered 2 sandwiches because 1 usually isn't enough, (I eat a lot). Their sandwiches are HUGE!. When they handed me the bag, the bag dipped because I didn't think it would be that heavy. The staff behind the counter gave me incredulous looks like, "You're not eating BOTH of those right?" Yes I am and I'm not ashamed. Thinking back, it's probably not a good idea to eat 2 of these sandwiches the same day. Their Windy City sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. And it was Huge! And it was like 50% meat! I ordered the "dry" version so I could make it back to the office without a soaking paper bag, (I'm sure they make sure that doesn't happen-but just in case), knowing that they dip the meat in jus anyway in the "dry" version. The bread had a crunch but wasn't so hard that it would rip the roof of my mouth when biting into the sandwich, (like most places). The meat was tender and the mix of spicy Giardiniera and pickled sweet pepper topping I chose put the sandwich over the top. My tolerance for spicy is medium and although the Giardiniera made me sweat a little, it was perfectly spicy. I only regret not paying $2 for their special melted cheese. So I was disappointed when I ate the Salvatore for dinner. This sandwich was just as huge and I was intrigued when I thought I smelled fresh garlic taking it out of the bag. This sandwich was just too bitter and salty, so much so that I couldn't enjoy anything else. Since I really like Oink and Oscar and I think this sandwich is a good concept, I'm offering some advice to the Owners: -Use 25% less salt on the porkstrami. I know pastrami is kind of salty, but we can still get the pastrami likeness with the reduced salt. Also, have the porkstrami be prepared with a spice, (I know this isn't supposed to be corned beef, but preparing the porkstrami where a spice taste is noticeable would make it unique). -Replace the coleslaw/pickled cabbage with pickled sweet pepper or give the customer an option of a Giardiniera or sweet pepper or mix, like with the Windy City, (and the option would make the sandwich seem more Italian). The red cabbage in the coleslaw adds to the bitterness. -If there is fresh garlic somewhere in the sandwich, please reduce or remove, I'm not sure there is but something is making the sandwich really bitter. Maybe it's the olive spread? -I couldn't detect any mortadella, provolone or sesame, so maybe some more of these. I am definitely coming back and for many times over, the place is perfect, the staff is super friendly and I'd really like this place to thrive.

Everything was so good! It's a good thing. I don't live here because I would be addicted to these sandwiches. You can literally taste the love put in them. Everyone is so nice and friendly but also.

Holy schmoley!!! Hands down the best sandwiches in San Francisco! Absolutely unbelievable! Clean, bright, beautiful, friendly and OUTSTANDING food! Do yourself a favor and get in there for some pure sandwich magic!

We were looking for a quick bite for lunch while in town for a conference. Wow!?! One of the best sandwiches I've had in YEARS. The pork (braised, pork pastrami, bacon) was all incredible. The homemade condiments were off the charts good. The veggies on the subs were fresh and tasty. The bread was very good. Highly recommend.

Awesome deli sandwiches. Great bread, sauces and meats! We had the Rubenesque and the Pigsty. Best sandwich I've had in a while. We were at our son's hockey game at Yerba Buena Ice and enjoyed our sandwiches at the park after his game.

This super cool new sandwich shop was really good, with lots of different choices to choose from. The shop itself was nice and had an old fashion type of feel to it.

Beautiful bright place that looks like an old school market. Their specialty seems to be the "porkstrami" which sold out today! But their sandwiches were big and delicious. They prepare your sandos pretty quickly as there seems to be a good number of people behind the counter.

The customer service is horrible , my coworker and I keep giving this place another chance because it's right my our place of entertainment. Per usual our sandwich order is wrong on top of being completely wet from the condiments . We also waited 15 minutes although there were no orders before use . The workers seen so confused with the orders even though all the orders are written on an order list. I know this is a newly opened business they need to get their stuff together . Third strike your out .

Had a delicious sandwich and fun drink on a sunny SF afternoon. It is easy to customize. Great location and fun people ready to assist with deciding what to order from the extensive menu. Really enjoyed a yummy trip. We'll be back!
