We came for a birthday lunch for two on a beautiful day, with a great table overlooking the Alzette next to their homegrown herbs and flowers. It was my second time there (1,5 year in between). The staff and especially the owner were very caring, discrete yet very available, in a way that feels honest. We took the full discovery menu.
The food served here is a subtle Italian cuisine, that offers only high quality products (simple or rarer ones) for a slight modern take on classics or even more rural dishes. While it might look like a 1-star restaurant, I think that there is no pretension to be(come) one. It's about refined taste, and making simplicity perfect, while still offering decently sized portions, so that you can enjoy your dishes and not just a brief taste of them.
I think that so many restaurants misuse the "gastronomic" concept nowadays, whether by being a disguised lie, or by forcing so much originality on you that you end up being overwhelmed, instead of actually enjoying your experience.
For me, in Luxembourg, OIO is one of the few (and best) experiences that can claim to be a gastronomic restaurant. It brings a balanced combination of efforts, passion, quality, quantity, great setting and caring service. And, most of all, it felt honest.
