Oishi Hibachi & Sushi Bar

We were seated immediately, we ordered and enjoyed the chef and the atmosphere along with the DELICIOUS food! I got steak and shrimp and the flavors were so incredibly well done! The fried rice is missing something but absolutely delicious! We can't wait to return, and the only reason it was over $100 for our family, is because we were a party of 6, prices are very good here!

WOW! From the excellent and attentive service and great prices to the freshness and flavor, this place was fantastic! My Husband and I visited late on a Friday afternoon and got seated immediately. The salad dressing was exactly what you'd expect it to be-delicious and a teaser for what's next. I'm not normally a fan of soup, but the soup at this place was so good I was tempted to finish the bowl! The cheese wontons were very good and got a "Ohhh, MAN THAT'S GOOD!" from the Hubs. The sushi rolls were fresh and well made-no falling apart on the way to dip in soy. I also really appreciated that they brought out extra dipping sauces for each of us. I went with the "round the U.S." sushi rolls, lol, one was a Philadelphia, one was New Orleans and the other was also the name of a place. All were EXCELLENT. Husband got the hibachi dinner and said it was super good as well. HIGHLY recommend!!

Went for the1ST time with my great nephew , great neice and her boyfriend. Had a super great time. Lee our Hibachi expert was friendly, talented and all around awesome. Our glasses never even came close to being empty, service was over the top great.

We stop at this place every time we drive-by Hattiesburg with our family of four. You could stop at any number of mediocre burger joints, or you could go here and have fresh food that’s made of real ingredients, prepared on site, that’s friggin delicious. Good service. We love this place.

Best place in town for sushi. The service is always blazing fast and outstanding, and the waiting staff is always kind. We have yet to try something we didn’t enjoy. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend the cajun roll and the wontons!

Ate there today. Food was alright. Their sweet tea I had was hot and now I have been vommitting all day. Everyone I ate with is bad sick as well.

Got the USM Roll. It taste like any other sushi roll in Hattiesburg. Wish it came with a side of sauce like some places do.

Visiting my dad and went out for some sushi! Service was very friendly and communicative about delays in food. We got two simple appetizers - seaweed salad and edamame, 4 rolls, and nigiri. The rolls were delicious and on par with some of my favorite sushi spots. When choose where to sit you have the option of hibachi tables or "regular" dining area, there was also seating at the bar a solo diners took advantage of.

The who was good but I noticed that it wasn't shared evenly at the Hibachi Table of Mars the guess and I feel the vegetables could have been cooked just a little longer..‍I asked but that's what I got but overall it was okay pretty good

Oishi is my favorite restaurant! For the past 9 years, every birthday, holiday, graduation, prom and big event along with any time I come home we have eaten here. In highschool and college, I ate Oishi at least once a week if not multiple times a week. I've eaten Oishi during lunch and dinner as well as to-go orders and at the hibachi grill. It's is all fantastic. This is my favorite hibachi restaurant, and I have not found one that even begins to compare for me. In all these hundreds of times eating at oishi, I've only had one experience where the food was just okay and not fantastic... which is a pretty amazing track record plus they ended up giving us cheesecake that night too! Their sushi is good, but my favorites are definitely their phenomenal cheese wontons, great Kani salad and rocking cheesecake. That's not including the main star their hibachi meals and soup and salad starters (best onion and mushroom soup of any hibachi restaurant I've had). Their chefs are fun and entertaining as well as being phenomenal cooks and even the servers will tease and joke some. All around a clean, fun, yummy restaurant.

So this place is great. Great shows, great food, great prices. Love Oishi, and I have been there many many times, with really no complaints. We went today and food was great, service was great, everything is pretty good as usual. The only things that could really change is the shows they do, but that comes with different servers that you have. There's some good ones, and some meh ones. Four stars for the shows :) We shared a sexy roll, cooked, and it was divine. Good for new sushi lovers. Hibachi chicken with mushrooms and broccoli only. Great place to go for special days or just for fun. Love it.

Used to love going here however this last time 8/2024 was our last. Service horrible. Took forever to take order. Food was crunchy and burned tasting. Took forever to get out of the. Not busy. Very sad

Haven't been here in years but the food was just as good and hibachi chef just as entertaining as we remembered! The server was great also! A bit pricey but well earned.

The atmosphere was great. Music was playing and other customers were in the restaurant, but it was not too loud. The service was FANTASTIC. The waiter for my table made sure we were well taken care of and was very polite. The food was delicious. The hibachi itself is expensive, but you are paying for the food and the labor. Bring some extra money after payday and splurge here. The food is great. The hibachi chefs are very talented and entertaining. It's fun for big groups, as well. Over eight people can sit at one hibachi table. It's fun for date night, for going out with friends, whatever you want. The sushi is good, the hibachi is good, the soup is good, the service is amazing, and the experience is wonderful. 15/10 recommend. I will be back.

Good food and nice workers. My fav hibachi in Hattiesburg MS. Pricing is on par for the market and they are NOT stingy with the food. I'd recommend!

I'm a hibachi newbie and this being my first experience I had an awesome time! The steak was cooked perfectly rare. Our chef was a showman and I will absolutely be back.

I went to Oishi's last week and I was not satisfied. I was sat at an Hibachi table that was already full. I sat by a family which made me feel real uncomfortable. I felt like a child at the grown ups table. I waited on my cook to arrive, while eating on my shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was phenomenal. The chef finally arrived and i was so excited, half way through the cooking he didn't even give a show. He didn't put any Saki in the food nor did he offer any to us. Out of all the men at the table my food was the smallest portion. On top of the food not even being enough to fill me up it was poorly seasoned. I don't like this place at all and I'm not going back!

Best sushi in town, for the price and freshness. Great portions on their plates. The restaurant is clean and the staff was prompt and courteous. My kid usually gets a couple rolls from their sushi menu. Haven't tried the hibachi side.

Great stop. They offer tables or hibachi. They have a great selection of sushi. They have a mushroom soup instead of the traditional miso soup which was a nice change of pace. The presentation and quantity of meals are above average. The setting is not as private as you would hope, but average for a place like this. The service is as expected or slightly above average.

Food came fast, service was good. Just an average Japanese restaurant. Nothing crazy or to write home to mom about. The sushi was titled "spicy girl roll" and it was so bland I had to coat it in soy and wasabi to get any flavor. I also judge a good Hibachi meal off of their yum yum sauce and it was just average, lacking a lot of flavor. I have had COVID a few months ago so my taste has been messed up so this could very well be the case why the food tasted bland.

The sushi rice was gummy & not fresh the hot seafood dish had this nasty oily mayo like sauce and had withered lettuce in it m! The menu never said anything about lettuce being in this HOT APPETIZER DISH & the little seafood it had in it was hard! I couldn't even eat it! I wouldn't recommend this place! 0 stars

We had 3 sushi rolls. They were friendly, fast and delicious. I would recommend trying this place.

It was nice . I went towards the end of the night my rice was a little crunchy but overall it was good. Great show, fun time.

Me and dad went. We loved it. Only place I could find a khani salad and it was really good. Lots and lots of choices from sushi, noodles, rice, hibachi, etc. service is 8/10 so I give the place a 9/10. Very clean and great food.

I encourage each and every one of you to ask for Justin. I am so touched by his thoughtfulness and making my daughter feel so special on her birthday. He is truly amazing and such a wonderful person.

The soup tasted like beef broth no flavor the hibachi was so salty and had so much black pepper you couldn't eat it the chicken was tough and the shrimp worked on me the steak was not cooked well at all couldn't 1 out of 10 Don't recommend save your money

Awesome lunch hibachi! Tons of food and the chef was fun! Food was excellent! I will continue to eat here. Looking forward to trying their sushi sometime. They also have bento boxes I wanna try. :) definitely a great hibachi and great lunch prices and portions!

Not real impressed with this restaurant. A little on the dirty older side. Flavor not that great. Sushi was so so. I would not recommend to friends or family. Some people like it though. There are better Japanese spots in town in my opinion.

Great atmosphere and food, one of the best places in Hattiesburg to go, fresh sushi and delicious hibachi

One of our most favorite places to eat. The food is always good, the sushi fresh, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I even often get to go from here I have never gotten a wrong order in all the years I've been going there.

Meal way too salty and lack of flavor, over cooked hibachi. Here on business wanted Asian food, but as for 90% of all Asian restaurants are mediocre at best. If I am ever in town, will not visit this restaurant.

My friend Thomas and I go out to dinner once a month and we like to post our thoughts on the meal. This was our second trip to Oishi and the first review. I had the Shumai (Shrimp Dumplings) A Snow Crab Roll plus the Shrimp and Scallops Hibachi entrée. Thomas had the Spring Roll, Spicy Seafood Soup and the Grilled Steak entrée. The Snow Crab Roll, Spring Roll and and Shumai were quite good. The Spicy Seafood Soup was delicious as expected ( I have had it before). At $7 it's on the pricey side, but it's worth every penny in my opinion. The Shrimp and Scallops were also excellent. HOWEVER! The Grilled Steak was next level. We agree that it is the best steak either of us has ever had. Keep in mind that we aren't professional food critics but we are pretty serious food enthusiasts. It also bears mentioning that we had that steak AFTER eating appetizers, sushi, soup and salads. It's not like we were hungry at that point. As far as ambiance goes, this is not exactly a fancy place. In truth it's a little on the dim side for my taste. The hibachi tables are the real draw of course and those are fun. Also, in this case we sat in our own booth. Having said all of that, the food alone (and God that steak!) made this a Five Star experience. Last thing. Thomas and I each got out of there for $60. Keep in mind that we each left a generous tip after basically looking at the menu and saying "Yes". I don't want to leave the impression that this is a super expensive place.

This is our young son's favorite restaurant. He calls it Volcano Dinner because of the fire and the onion volcano. We love the hibachi show and we've tried all the combinations of the proteins. All are good. It's tremendous value--tons of food for the price. Soup, salad, rice, veggies, meat. What's not to like? The sushi is consistent, and a nice change of pace or supplement to the hibachi. The cocktails aren't super inventive, but again, good value.

Would not go back. Sent back tuna roll. They put tuna on warm rice, ruining the tuna. Ordered miso soup, got mushroom soup. Salad swimming in dressing. Ordered asahi beer from menu, didn't have it.

So good every time. I only ever order the Cajun roll or hibachi. Which is always good. It's also clean and nice staff.

Not my cup of tea. I am not really a fan of Japanese food. However, the service was great and the man cooking habachi was hilarious.

I absolutely love everything I've ever had here. They have kids chopsticks so my little ones can eat with them as well. The bento lunch box is so much food for the price you pay. It's not only good food but a great value when you are treating your little ones to lunch.

For what it is, it's GREAT. Not a terrifically romantic atmosphere (Go to the Purple Parrot for that), but a great convivial environment for eating with friends. The Hibachi area is the place to be. All the chefs are great. They are personable and quite entertaining to watch as they try to fling shrimp into the mouths of eager of diners. And, of course, the sudden outbursts of flame are fun showstoppers. Unless, of course, you happen to be dining with a two-year-old who yells, "FIRE" and tries to throw her Sprite onto the grill. Hypothetically. The food is great. Don't be afraid to try to customize your order. They'll be happy to try to accomodate what you want. Their lunch entrees are a fabulous deal.

It had been several years, so decided to give Oishi another shot this past weekend, and while the hibachi area looked much cleaner than I remembered and there were no signs of roaches in that area as there had been in the past (USM students once made a youtube video of the roaches) the sushi area was still smelly and the sashimi was gross -- not fresh at all. Their focus must be on the hibachi food, because it is clearly not on the sushi, which remains the worst in Hattiesburg.

I enjoy Oishi's hibachi as a lunch option, and their sushi is delish as well. If you decide on sushi, go for the Philly Roll - it's my favorite and a great bang for the buck. Can't decide between hibachi and sushi? No need! Order the lunch box which includes miso soup, salad, gyoza, steamed rice and a California roll. Do yourself a favor and sub the roll of your choice for the California roll and fried rice for the steamed rice.

First time here for wife and i. Went for hibachi for lunch. The complimentary soup was the star of the show. Ive had better rice and salmon was slightly salty. Wife got chicken and shrimp. Chicken was kind of bland. Ordered a 5 dollar alchoholic drink which was named something along the lines of bang bang pow. Looked like about one shot; i could be crazy, but i think it gave me a really light buzz, lol.

Typical Hibachi restaurant. Food is good, but my Tuna steak was ordered medium rare and it was cooked to a crisp. My son loves this place, and it is great for entertainment. Plenty of food and leftovers. You'll be eating on this for a few days. Vegetables are always delicious and the pink sauce is yummy. Probably will be back, but I'll just order chicken.

The Sexy Roll is literally the best sushi roll I've ever had absolutely anywhere. It is the perfect roll. Period.

This use to be my favorite place. I order still at least once a month if not a couple times. Their portions are getting smaller for to go, they now charge for sauce for your food (never use to do that) and they charge dinner prices for lunch on holidays like Mother's Day. Also, walking to the bathroom I saw a cockroach crawl on the hibachi tables in the back. Sick! I cannot wait for the new hibachi restaurant to open in Hattiesburg!

Very nice, clean restaurant. The sushi was neatly prepared, under seasoned to be spicy. The Hot and Sour Soup was warm and flavorful. The wait staff were friendly and knowlwdgeable.

Overall great experience. Waitress was very proficient in making sure we were satisfied. Crunchy roll was ok but soup made up for it. Def will be back!

My husband and I were semi out of town when a pizza craving hit me hard! I couldn't wait until we got home to hit the Pizza Hut. We (thankfully) spotted one. That said, when we got out of the car we smelled something goooood! So Oishi it was (I will be getting my pizza soon!). I'm glad we came here though because the atmosphere was nice and the hibachi chef's performance was super, however my food was a bit over cooked for my taste. Now I know exactly how to order next time. Btw I ordered steak and shrimp. I'll just ordered my steak medium rare when we go back and leave off the shrimp. Problem solved! I'm excited about taking our 4 yr old grandson for the show.

PLEASE READ !!!' We have been here a few times but tonight I went to pick up a some food for a friend that was in the hospital. After paying I went out the door and then a roach crawled out of the bag. I took all the food back in and the hostess killed it with his fingers and dropped it on the floor. He was going to get me more food and I just told him I wanted my money back and we would NEVER BE BACK !!!!
