Oishii Matcha - Review - Castro - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"There’s so much soft serve in SF that we had to dedicate a whole guide to it. Unfortunately, the soft serve at Oishii Matcha in the Castro doesn’t quite stack up to others in the city. While the matcha flavor is prominent, the soft serve arrives already slightly melted with mini-shards of ice. Drinks are a bit more successful, like a matcha strawberry latte that balances a shot of matcha with the sweetness of strawberry purée. But like the soft serve, the drinks don’t stand out among the other matcha-heavy cafes around San Francisco. That said, Oishii works in a pinch, especially if you’re in the area and snag one of their outdoor tables that overlook Market. photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong

Meh... Can't say we were all that impressed with Oishii Matcha... We visited Oishii Matcha to satisfy our Matcha and Sweet tooth cravings... Small Venue with not a lot of room inside. I'd estimate 90% of the orders are to go due to the lack of room; there is a small bench inside probably for waiting on your order and two small tables outside. #SweetTooth: ~ BOBA SUNDAE UBE - 3.5/5 I thought this was just a bit better than OK. It certainly didn't look like the pictures. This was just Ube soft serve with a some boba and a bit of brown sugar syrup. It looks far better in the the pics. Decent, nowhere near the best Ube Soft Serve I had. They also ran out of Black Sesame and hojicha on that particular day, so were unable to try either of those flavors. Sadly we were a bit disappointed...

Google
The matcha ice cream is a bit on the sweeter side compared to other establishments. Not a fan. It was too sweet. The Matcha Latte on the other hand was great! Now my second favorite in the City!

Google
Got a hojicha latte and it was really flavorful. It had a good amount of oat milk and the toasty flavor wasn’t covered. Service was excellent, will definitely be back when in the area.

Google
most amazing matcha i’ve ever had. like incredible okay. i’m actually so obsessed. the iced matcha latte is so potent and rich and creamy. my whole family got a ube matcha swirl soft serve and it rocked our world. best matcha ever, and i’m not just saying that. i’m sure that every other item on the menu is as wonderful as what we ordered. thank you so much and i hope we come back soon!!!

Google
Such a great addition to the neighborhood! The matcha is seriously delicious and the staff is sooooo nice. They have lots of great variations so I always try something new! A few favorites are the ube float and the coconut matcha latte. And of course then matcha-ube soft serve swirl! Thank you Oishii - we love you!

Google
The matcha here is strong and the staff were kind—even accommodating us 20 minutes before closing, which we really appreciated. However, some moments during our visit were disappointing. Two of my friends have allergies to soy and almond, which were the only milk options listed at that time. The friend who could only drink the soy, went with that alternative just to try the drinks out of excitement. But shortly after, two customers who came in after us asked for oat milk and were initially told it wasn’t available—until they said they’d come back another day. Then the worker double-checked and ended up offering them oat milk. It felt like oat milk was only offered to avoid losing a sale, not because it wasn’t available earlier. To add to the confusion, one of my friends ordered a strawberry matcha, and only after taking a sip, was she told that they had added mango to it because they didn't have enough strawberry. While we understand it's the end of the day, it would have been much safer and more respectful to inform her beforehand. Allergies are not always visible, and that spur of a substitution could have had serious consequences. In her case, it resulted in a headache due to the drink being overly sweet due to the impromptu resolution—but it could’ve been much worse. We weren’t upset with the service-it was genuinely friendly-but the lack of transparency and attentiveness to dietary concerns was disappointing. At the end of the day, we were still paying customers eager to try the new place, and were very understanding of the situation as we are all baristas ourselves. I had brought a few close friends along to share what I’ve been working on for my club at Berkeley, since I had been scouting all the matcha places in SF with hopes to collaborate with. But I felt bad having to leave my guests with indigestion and feeling slightly dispirited after the mixed experience we had. Despite it all, the matcha is great for those who enjoy strong matcha drinks- they were not frugal at all with the quality of ingredients. The regular matcha and ube matcha had rich flavor profiles, but lacked enough sweetness for me to notice it. The mango and strawberry purees on the other hand, were extremely sweet, which balanced the strong matcha profile well if you like matcha as a dessert!

Google
Fantastic spot for matcha, ube, and crepes! The staff are incredibly welcoming and polite, and the matcha flavor - both in the latte and ice cream - is rich, smooth, and delightful.

Google
Oh my god this matcha was GOOD! Super strong matcha flavor, nice and sweet strawberry flavor, and a subtle creaminess. The staff was super nice, and it came really quick. The inside has a bench for sitting, and outside there are three or so tables. Pretty small interior, no bathroom. Overall it was way too delicious, absolutely recommend.

Yelp
The match /black sesame ice cream is delicious . The customer service is excellent. The store is clean and accessible. The owners are very friendly and so accommodating. I love black sesame ice and I asked the owner to made it. They make it upon my request. I have been back so many times .

Yelp
Oishi Matcha is a great new spot to fill the void here at the corner of Market and 16th. Pretty extensive menu so if youre looking for a matcha or hojicha fix they've got you covered- ice cream, sodas, lattes- they've got it!

Yelp
Oishii in Japanese means 'good,' but I found this place to be more 'mama' (okay). Hanging out with my friend, we passed by Oishii, and I mentioned I was curious about grabbing a drink. I've seen this place on social media and have always wanted to try it! The cafe is relatively small and minimally decorated, with only one tablet available for ordering inside. There isn't much space to sit or wait inside, but they have an extended bench. There are also a couple of tables outside. Service was fast since we came on a weekday and were one of the only customers. They offer a decent selection of matcha, hojicha, and black sesame drinks, as well as some food options. I got the Matcha Mango Latte with 50% sweetness and Soy Milk. The drink wasn't too sweet, which was perfect for me! The puree and drink were an interesting consistency, a bit more frothy and creamy than I'm used to. It satisfied my cravings, but it wasn't the best I've had. For matcha lovers, I recommend Oishii Matcha if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it! A good amount of options and easy ordering. They're on the corner of Market Street with nearby street parking.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by this matcha shop on a weekday afternoon, where there were several people waiting in line to order. While my friend and I were ordering, the cashier was having slight difficulty understanding my request for a matcha latte with boba, and my friend's request for a mango matcha latte. When our orders came out, the orders were incorrect, but there was no questions asked when they had to remake our order. The Mango matcha Latte was good! It was refreshing and nicely balanced, with a strong mango flavor. Unfortunately, my Matcha Latte with boba missed the mark. The matcha didn't have the flavor that I was expecting, and the boba texture was off (it was very very chewy). My experience with their Matcha Latte was not the best, but I am interested in trying some of their other drinks in the future!

Yelp
I really want to like this place but the two times I've been here it was just okay. The first time I tried the strawberry with matcha and oat milk + 50% sweetness (since the worker said the strawberry is already sweet) and it was decent - I've had better. I think I'd bump the sweetness level up next time because it wasn't too sweet at all, and I usually stay away from sweet drinks! The second time I got the matcha with espresso (75% sweetness) + oat milk, and the matcha tasted a bit too chalky for me. Customer service has been awesome both times, so I definitely want to give it another shot. Maybe I'll even try one of their desserts next time like the ice cream cup or a crepe + the regular matcha latte.

Yelp
After having a disappointing experience at a different matcha spot in Berkeley, we decided to drive over the bridge to give Oishii a try. Being that we both love matcha and trying out new places, we thought this would be a great spot to hit before dinner. But be aware, there is limited space to sit down. Only a small bench inside and 2 tables outside. I got the matcha latte and my friend got the strawberry matcha latte. Tbh, both were not great. Neither tasted like matcha, it really felt more like we were drinking oat milk with a hint of matcha. They didn't ask for milk preferences, so I think their default is oak milk. The strawberry matcha was better than the original, but was way too sweet for my preference. For a scale, I'm usually one to order 50% or less at all bubble tea and matcha spots. Although the staff was super nice, this isn't a spot we see ourselves going back to unless it's for their soft serve. We tried the matcha soft serve and it was really solid. A little on the sweeter side, but it was definitely better than the lattes. These points are the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2.

Yelp
Ordered online on Sunday afternoon for an Ube Matcha. The store is super cramped, but the workers are super friendly and gave out samples of their soft serve! I got the Ube Matcha 25% sweet. I'd recommend to get 50% or 75% if you like your drink on the sweeter side. I wasn't the biggest fan of the matcha, but I think it's my fault for assuming the ube would sweeten it more than it did and getting 25% sweet. The ube also stained my mouth/teeth really bad and had me looking crazy walking around haha. Definitely want to come back and try a regular matcha!
google avatar

Yelp
Ugh I wanted to like this matcha more! I got the strawberry matcha with regular sweetness and at first I thought I liked it, but as I continued drinking, the matcha was very overpowering of the strawberry and not in a good way. I did not love the taste or texture of the matcha. The store was cute though, the staff was nice, and they had good menu options so I will be trying again in hopes of it tasting better next time.

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim and got a matcha soft serve. Price is what I expected for SF. Service was fast and friendly. I liked that they used gloves to handle my soft serve. The matcha soft serve was delicious! Not bitter and not too sweet. Was just right. They don't have a ton of seating (a bench inside, and 2 bistro tables outside), so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. Great spot if you're in the area and craving matcha!
google avatar

Yelp
Randomly walked past this place and it's a decent matcha. The strawberry is not really there... A good place if you're craving matcha though. I give this place a 7/10

Yelp
My friend and I were in the area and wanted to get a drink. I've seen Oishii Matcha on social media so we decided to try it out. It is a small shop with some seating inside and outside. The menu had some items covered up but there was still a variety of desserts and drinks. Mixed fruit crepe (4/5): I am usually not a fan of crepes but this one was good. The strawberries and bananas weren't cooked/hot, a huge plus. The nutella was good. The crepe itself was soft which is my preference. Black sesame latte (3/5): It was a normal drink. A little gritty but that is to be expected with sesame seeds. You can adjust your sweetness. I did 50% and I think I should've done more. Overall a good try. I would come back if I am in the area again to try other items. The person working gave us little matcha soft serve samples which was very nice.

Yelp
I got the matcha latte with oat milk and no sugar. The drink was concentrated and creamy. Their matcha soft serve is also great. There was no wait when I went on a Sunday afternoon, and the barista was extremely friendly! The store is quite small. There is a bench inside and three small tables right outside.
google avatar

Holly J.

Yelp
The cafe is super cute and at the corner of the street. There's like two tables outside to do some people watching because it's located at a very busy intersection. The matcha latte is like any normal matcha latte, in my opinion. It's not bad? Maybe I should've made it a little more sweet because it was pretty bitter but that's totally on me. The mango matcha was very meh. Wasn't the biggest fan of it because of the mango puree at the bottom. But if I'm ever in the area, I would like to try their other matchas!

Yelp
Stopped by for morning matcha and hojicha with a friend who lives in the area. Oishii is truly oishii! And for the tea lovers who truly drink with 0% additive/extra sugar, they truly don't add anything else. Their menu is pretty approachable, you choose your tea base, and there are options from floats (with soft serve) to black sesame to boba. I can never pass up boba, so I went for the hojicha boba. Hojicha was def more umami compared to matcha, on the bitter end, but still very flavorful and floral. Service is with a smile and the shop itself is small, not on the same level as Matcha Cafe Maiko or Maruwu Seicha or the South Bay's Izumi Matcha. BUT they do hold their own as a neighborhood matcha spot. I like that they gave a good chunky amount of hojicha to milk ratio. They also sell croffles and crepes, but I can def see them adding on other items like Japanese matcha tins or savory bakery items. Seating is pretty minimal, there's a few spots inside and a small steel two-seater table outside, but it's really more of a takeout spot. Awesome if you're a grab n go or getting something on the go, but not a great spot to hang out, do work, or people watch.

Yelp
I was in the area and saw everyone have matcha from Oishii Matcha, so I really wanted to give it a try before leaving. I ordered a regular matcha latte with 50% sweetness. The green was a good color and I was excited to taste it. Unfortunately, it was more on the milky side and didn't have a strong enough matcha flavor despite it being ceremonial. Its proportions might be off. I still enjoyed it as an afternoon pick me up.
google avatar

Karina L.

Yelp
Matcha here was amazing with strong umami nutty taste. Definitely coming here again! Parking is a bit difficult to find as area has a lot of traffic passing through. Simple place but big menu with a variety of great desserts. I tried their ube matcha, pretty good, I did make the mistake of getting half sweet but staff was kind enough to sweeten it. Also wanted to try their other dessert items but unfortunately didn't have the space for it. Definitely coming back here! If you like authentic ceremonial matcha this is the place to come!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been thinking of trying Oishii for a while and recently stopped by. I thought the strawberry matcha latte (customized 50% sugar and oat milk) was good but not great. I found it difficult to mix the contents. The strawberry purée stuck to the sides of the cup, and the straw wasn't very durable to withstand much stirring. The matcha coconut soda was better. I'd get that or try one of the other matcha sodas next time and skip the lattes.
google avatar

Krista C.

Yelp
Super yummy high quality matcha!! I got the ube matcha with almond milk. Before the ube and matcha got mixed I had a sip of the plain matcha latte and it was perfect. I got zero sweetness and thought the taste of the matcha and milk was a great balance. I liked the Ube but I think I enjoyed it plain a little better. The store was super small but had people waiting inside and outside so didn't seem too chaotic inside. The staff was very friendly and asked additional questions to make sure you will enjoy your order:)

Yelp
As someone who likes matcha, I always like trying out new places that open up in the city. So when Oishii matcha came about, I decided to give this place a shot. I got the Dirty Matcha for caffeine boost and honestly, I didn't like it at all. You really couldn't taste the matcha and acidity from the coffee was pretty strong. I've had lots of good Dirty Matchas before that blends well together but that one wasn't good at all. Wasn't a fan unfortunately; it just tasted like straight black coffee for the most part. I also got the black sesame with boba and that was alright only. The boba had a good chew but it didn't have any flavor. The drink on its own didn't have enough black sesame powder flavor either. I don't really see myself coming back, but only if I'm in the area I would stop by.
google avatar

Priyadharshini G.

Yelp
I had a strawberry matcha latte and honestly it was a really well made. I asked for 25 percent sweetness and it's was delivered. Quick and friendly service and I did take out so can't say much about the ambiance except for its clean 10/10 for the matcha drink

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for matcha! Oishii matcha is relatively new and stood out for closing at night. Plus I like that they have a variety of flavors like ube, black sesame, hojicha. They even have croffles, savory and dessert crepes! The iced matcha latte was earthy and creamy, I can taste the matcha well, even though it was not overly strong. It was the perfect treat in the afternoon. Lots of people were getting the Hojicha latte since it's low caffeine, or ice creams. 5 stars as the owners were so friendly and even gave us small samples of the ice cream. The Hojicha ice cream was really good. I'm definitely coming back to try the Hojicha latte and ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
What we ordered: * Matcha latte (5/5) * Yuzu matcha soda (5/5) [Taste: ] strong matcha flavors and not too sweet or overpowering! For the matcha soda, the sweet and bitterness was well balanced. The coloring of the matcha is really nice as well. [Service: ] great! Explained everything to us. [Comments: ] silly thing, but I really liked the ice! It was the small crunchy kind. I also asked for light ice, and they actually put noticeably less ice which a lot of other places don't do.
google avatar

Shania W.

Yelp
I'm always happy to try a new matcha spot so was excited to give Oishii a shot. The owner was super sweet in letting me sample their soft serves, which were both pretty good. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte, while my friend ordered the Ube Matcha Latte. The Strawberry Matcha Latte was decent. It was a little too sweet for my liking, even with me ordering less sweet, but the flavors were well done. However, the Ube Matcha Latte wasn't great--the ube they used had a strange taste to it, and it didn't pair well with the matcha. In terms of ambiance, I don't love the layout of the store; it's fairly cramped and there isn't much seating or room to exist. However, I do appreciate that they have later hours than a lot of other matcha options. In general, I think it's worth giving them a try if you're already in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
was so excited to try Oishii Matcha after seeing it all over social media! i thoroughly enjoyed the drink and you can taste the quality of the tea. parking is a bit on the harder side as it's mostly street parking. we came in a monday around 330 PM - 4 PM. there wasn't much of a line but there were many people waiting for their order. we were #68 and it feels as though we've waited for about 15 minutes in line + to order and wait for our drinks. i really liked the fact that they didn't charge for milk substitution as someone who prefers to drink oat milk ! they also suggested sweetness levels which was super helpful! i for the hojicha strawberry latte at 50% as per suggested and it was just right! would definitely love to come again!
google avatar

Katyayini K.

Yelp
Friendly service. Ube flavour complimented the matcha really well. However there wasn't ample seating and everyone was cramped out front waiting for their drink to come out. They also took 15-20 min to make my drink.
google avatar

Makena L.

Yelp
Got the matcha ube latte and matcha latte, both yummy. The greenness of the matcha was very vibrant. The cashier was sweet - even asked me if I wanted any milk alternatives (I believe they had oat and almond). The interior is cute, tons of lanterns on the ceiling. The shop has one bench along the wall, where people usually sit to wait for their drinks. There's also a few tables for outdoor seating.

Yelp
I got the yuzu matcha and it was soo delicious on a nice hot SF day! My friend said the strawberry matcha was just okay but since I loved the yuzu matcha so much I would recommend that drink!!

Areeta W.

Yelp
It feels like they're still perfecting their recipes (inconsistency in drinks) but I have hopes for this spot! Their staff are very friendly and homies even gave me a free Matcha Ice Cream cone because they made an extra! All of our friends ordered separately and it seems like some could adjust their sweetness but I couldn't? They seem to make the fruit mixes FRESH so that's a slay! My friends and I tried the: Hojicha Strawberry Latte (4/5) - The best drink we got! The balance of the bitterness of the hojicha and sweetness of the strawberry was solid. Matcha Strawberry Latte (3/5) - The matcha was kind of odd because the tartness of the strawberry overpowers it and the matcha was kinda grainy. Matcha Ice Cream Cone (3.5/5) - Ok but why did I like this more than the Matcha latte LOL the sweetness to matcha flavor balance was good! However, it did taste more ice-y than creamy. Ube Matcha Latte (2/5) - I fear mixing it made it just taste like bitter milk but maybe that's just because I prefer sweeter things Black Sesame Latte (1/5) - I have no idea what they did here because it was just milk with little sesame flakes at the bottom and I already got 100% sweetness but it was still like straight gray milk :(
google avatar

Yelp
Really cute new tea and soft serve place. I come here after the gym sometimes. Today I tried their Hojicha strawberry latte, which I like because it's a combination of earthy and sweet. My partner got their strawberry soda which is made with a fresh strawberry puree. I've also come here before and gotten their ube latte and their Hojicha soft serve. I want to come back for their ube soft serve but it's only available on the weekends!! The owners are really friendly and open to giving recommendations and samples.
google avatar

Courtney L.

Yelp
The cutest matcha spot! The service is amazing here, they ask you your matcha preference (earthy, etc) and make sure they get your preferred sweetness as well. They are also super nice, they offered us samples of their soft serve while we were waiting. You can definitely tell they care about their customers. There isn't much seating, just a bench. The matcha here is really high quality and the drinks are super earthy. They can definitely adjust it for you if you prefer sweeter. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends visiting sf!

Yelp
3.5 STARS "Ceremonial" grade matcha. Welp, I feel moded because I always thought ceremonial grade = top-tier quality. I recently learned there's no such thing as "ceremonial" grade and it's merely a Western marketing term not used in Japan. Thanks, TikTok and matcha girl controversy in Houston (last month). Cuz, the more you know. Opening 3/29/25, Oishii Matcha took over Ritual Coffee. It's a narrow shop so mainly a takeout spot. There's a long bench inside and several tables outside. M E N U - Drink series: Matcha, Hōjicha, Black Sesame, Soda, Frappé, and Coffees. - Snacks: Crepes, Croffles, Soft Serves (matcha, hōjicha, black sesame, and ube), and Boba Sundae. Dairy alternatives: Soy, oat, and almond milk (+surcharge) D R I N K * Hōjicha Latte ($6.95 + 50 cents oat milk): https://tinyurl.com/48ed37mh - Requested less sweet It was too late in the day for matcha so hōjicha it is (low caffeine). The ratio of roasted green tea to oat milk was really off. It tasted like straight black coffee with chocolate notes. Also, the powder could have been more thoroughly whisked. Too bad, I was on my way to an appointment, otherwise I would have brought it home to dilute it and make 2-3 more hōjicha lattes. S E R V I C E Warm, welcoming staff with prompt service. My drink was ready in several minutes (no line). Overall - IMO, Oishii's drinks need work but they're new with plenty of potential (visited 3rd day of opening). Their crepes and soft serve look promising so I will give that a shot next time.

Yelp
I appreciate how customizable and strong the matcha drinks are here! I was able to ask for a very specific amount of sugar (e.g. 15% or 20%) for my matcha latte. The matcha used here tasted high quality, and they don't skimp out. This place may not be for you if you prefer a lighter matcha drink, but I enjoyed how strong the matcha lattes are here. This location is a small hole in the wall spot without much actual seating inside besides a bench against the wall. There are two tables outside though.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Came here with my friend on a Friday at 1:00 PM, and there wasn't much of a line. You can't see much of the kitchen and there's not really seating inside, just a couple of small metal tables and chairs outside. The staff were ready to help and give recommendations. I got the Ube Matcha Latte with half sugar, and it was the perfect amount of sugar to have the matcha flavor come through. This matcha was on the grassier side, which I thought went well with the ube. I tried my friend's Mango Matcha Latte as well, and I loved the brightness of the mango against the matcha. Would come back if I was in the area!
google avatar

Roop K.

Yelp
This is not on the basis of matcha because I did not get that. I did sample matcha soft serve got that in my drink - very good. I sampled the ube soft serve too. WOW. GLAD I DID. I am not an ube lover. But this was something. Just hit the right things in the right ways. Better than garden creamery ube I would say and that's my #1 ice cream place in the city. Black sesame drink was good really wanna try the soft serve. I got it 25% sweet but not digestable for most people. If you are a black sesame lover like me it's perfect!!!!
google avatar

Caili C.

Yelp
I was excited to try this new matcha spot and came by after brunch to grab a matcha with a friend. She got an oat matcha latte unsweet while I tried the matcha soda with 25% as I wanted something lighter without milk. Both were really strong with a lot of matcha powder added which wasn't my friend's preference but I really liked how strong the matcha is! With the matcha soda, the matcha flavor can be lost with the carbonation but this was perfect for me - fizzy, refreshing and really matcha forward. The storefront is small and there isn't any seating inside other than a bench but a great grab-and-go spot!

Yelp
After eating dim sum next door decided to get a sweet treat which is matcha. At a corner you see this cute place with some outdoor seating and a line out the door. With matcha ice cream, boba and many other things to choose from. Decided to get one strawberry matcha. Also the guy serving us was so nice and complimented my friend. Good service ! The matcha was so good and thick. Not watery at all and defintley can taste the strawberry without it being too over powering. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
WOW. WOW. WOW. Blown away by the high-quality ceremonial grade matcha flavor in the drinks and soft serve here at Oishii Matcha. Their savory crepes are also really amazing!! FOOD [5.5/5] - would highly recommend :0 =========== + Ube Latte [5/5] I tried the Ube Latte at regular sweetness with oat milk. IMO full sweetness was necessary because the taste of the matcha is pretty strong!! They definitely don't skimp on that earthy green goodness here. At first the matcha is very strong, but the Ube flavor balances it out once you mix the whole drink up! + Savory Crepe: Avocado, Onion, Tomato, and Cheese [6/5] - WOULD RECOMMEND! This was my lunch for the day and oh my goodness.... Crepe was perfectly buttery and crunchy, the avocado was super fresh, the tomatoes were perfectly warm but not too gooey, the onions were just perfectly crunchy, and the cheese tied the whole thing together. Honestly one of the best savory crepes I've had, and I didn't even come to this place for the crepes! SERVICE & AMBIANCE [5/5] ====================== The service here is amazingly friendly. When i went, they offered a free tasting of their matcha soft serve and it was SOOOO good. There are a few seats inside and outside as well as gorgeous lanterns decorating the roof. When I went at 12PM on a Tuesday, there was no line and service was pretty fast! I will definitely be back on a sunny day for more matcha drinks, to try their soft serve, and grab another crepe. Might just make this a new favorite! :-)

Yelp
This review is solely for their black sesame boba drink. The black sesame tasted unwashed and raw as it had a dirt taste. The boba itself was also not the right texture. Perhaps their other drinks are better but I highly do not recommend the sesame drink at all. I hope they can wash their black sesame and roast it the next time they make their drinks. EDIT in response to the business owner. I appreciate the business owner's quick response but find their comment to be quite harsh. I understand my review was negative but perhaps the business could do a quality control test to understand the root of my review. I am happy to hear that the black sesame is washed and roasted every day. However, the drink today still tasted like dirt. I will be leaving this one star review for the business at it seems like the owner is not willing to investigate and work on improvements.

Yelp
Oishii Matcha recently opened up and is mainly a grab-and-go spot, the storefront being small and narrow, fronting a single bench inside and a few chairs outside. The shop lacks strong AC and is organized awkwardly, shaped as an L-shaped tetris piece, the inner-most part being where you order from and the other side where they're making the drinks. Drinks take some time to make as well. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte, of which you can adjust the sweetness level, which I asked for regular sweetness. The matcha was okay - I think it helped to have the strawberry puree to balance out the bitterness.

Yelp
The matcha ice cream is a bit on the sweeter side compared to other establishments. Not a fan. It was too sweet. The Matcha Latte on the other hand was great! Now my second favorite in the City!

Yelp
Definitely fresh matcha made on the spot! The strawberry and mango were both good choices, but if you don't mix it with the matcha it gets really sweet. I just did whole mix for both drinks and it was good! People suggested oat milk for it but I'm not sure if it would make the drink too sweet on top of the fruit flavors that went along with the matcha

Yelp
This place was open late on Labor Day, which I appreciated! We got a matcha soft serve and hojicha soft serve. The flavors of each surprised me! The matcha was quite strong, not the strongest I've had, but it was definitely there. I was surprised to taste a tea aftertaste with the hojicha flavor, since it's harder to get that right. The portions were good for the price, though by the end it was too milky and sweet for me. They were unfortunately out of the black sesame flavors, which was disappointing since I love the nuttiness of black sesame. I'll be trying them next time, along with their lattes. There's not much room to sit, but a walk around Castro with your sweet treat is pretty good too!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday and the line was out the door, had to wait around 20-25mins total to order, wait, and get my drinks. Got the strawberry matcha latte and mango matcha latte, both 50% sweetness. The color of the matcha is vibrant which got me excited. But unfortunately the jams tasted super artificial and left a bitter aftertaste. It was also hard to fully mix together.

Yelp
Fairly new matcha spot in the castro! Small storefront and can be hard to find but it is at a corner of the huge intersection. They've been open for maybe 2 weeks now! Unfortunately when I went this past week, they only offered matcha or black sesame flavors for the ice cream. I was so sad because I wanted to try their ube boba ice cream. We ended up getting their mango matcha @ 50% sweetness that was recommended to us. It was perfect sweetness! However, the mango syrup tasted a bit too artificial for my liking and a little bitter but maybe that was just me from eating something before. Great customer service!

Yelp
Oishii Matcha has been on my list of matcha places to try in SF for a while. I was in the area so I stopped by. There was no line on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered a classic matcha latte, 50% sweetness. The color of the matcha latte looked promising, but the drink ended up tasting quite bland and watered down. Pretty disappointed since I saw a lot of positive reviews about this place - not sure if I'd come back here.

Yelp
Spring equinox has already begun. And cherry blossoms have bloomed at that time once again! What better way to celebrate the coming of spring is no better than Uji matcha!! Matcha soft serve, matcha croffles, yuzu matcha spritzer; however I like it. They're all Oishii (delicious)! And it's soft serve shop in the heart of Castro Community has live up to its name. A cool new addition after Matcha Café Maiko to Maruwu Seicha in a very small space where matchaholics form a long line on its first grand opening. There are other additional flavors like hojicha, black sesame, and ube to choose from in case we'll have a green tea powder shortage that'll happen again. In Oishii Matcha, I can barely wait to have more organic ceremonial grade.

Yelp
Tiny spot with very limited seating. Only one person in line so it was nice I didn't have to wait long (unlike maruwu seicha). I got the iced matcha latte 50% sweet. It was pretty good, very creamy. I could taste the matcha, and it wasn't super overpowering. Prob my new go to matcha spot in this neighborhood

Yelp
Decent place to go to in a pinch. I like their aesthetic but the drinks them themselves are only on par/ comparable to a boba shop as opposed to matcha cafe.
