Oishiya Hibachi & Sushi

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Oishiya Hibachi & Sushi! The sushi here is phenomenal - every roll was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients they use. What truly made our visit special was the staff. Everyone was so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in and took great care of us throughout our meal. It's clear they take pride in both their food and their service. If you're in Murfreesboro and looking for excellent sushi with a side of genuine hospitality, Oishiya is the place to go. We'll definitely be back soon!

Oishiya is easily my favorite sushi and hibachi spot around. The sushi is incredibly fresh and noticeably larger than most places, so it’s definitely a great bang for your buck. The hibachi’s always cooked to perfection, and the service makes you feel genuinely cared for. The staff bring great energy and treat you like family, making every visit an experience worth coming back for. I’d recommend anyone to visit this place a thousand times over!!

The tonkotsu ramen broth was good; however the pork lack a little bit of flavor and the egg had a strong soy sauce taste which ruined it for me. This is the first restaurant that made the eggs tasted like this. The udon noodles soup was bland. The tempuras were good though. The scorpion roll did not have enough crab in it. Most of the crab was outside the roll. Edit 10/25/2025 gave this place another try and ordered. The spider roll and pork katsudon. The katsudon was nasty. It was salty and sour. Not recommended and will definitely not return.

This is one of those little local spots that you can't pass up! The fish is so fresh, the sushi is beautiful and tasty, the staff are so attentive and friendly, and the owner cares about making connections with clients! They have a great beer selection as well! I'm very impressed and highly recommend!

This is a good place to go for sushi. We came here on a Saturday night and the wait was so long. We were told that the wait was about 45 minutes and it ended up being a little over one hour before we were seated. The sushi did taste fresh. I like most of the rolls that we got. We all were full.

This is hands down the best sushi restaurant in town (especially if you are a sushi lover who looks for actual quality raw fish, not just cooked rolls)! The service is always fantastic, food is delicious, timely, and affordable - we always have a great experience. 10/10 recommend!

My goodness I have stumbled onto another great spot here. My friends and I honestly loved the entire experience eating at Oishiya. Now I must say the place is a little small so there isn't a ton of seating so you may have to wait just a bit, but it is well worth your time. We did only try the sushi items during this visit, but I can assure you we will be back to try the ramen, udon, or maybe even the fried banana dessert.

I wish I could give this place a 5 but it’s hard given the hour wait. I just wish this place was bigger and could serve more customers. I have been her twice with family and have gotten the Love Boat, it is phenomenal. Also, I have had the same server twice and she is the nicest and most attentive server I have had in a long time. Her name is Panda if you go. Again, beside the no reservations or call ahead seating and the hour wait. I highly suggest the restaurant. If I could give it a 4.9 I would. The sushi is fresh, she hibachi is great.

Love their tempura and side vegetables with the dinner plate. The chicken teriyaki is not great. The chicken is bland and dry. They should consider changing the chicken with grilled thigh meat.

Been frequenting this place since moving to Rutherford County. Hands down some of the best sushi and japanese restaurants I've had in the local area. The portions are huge for what you pay. I have never left here unsatisfied or disappointed, and with such large portions it's easy to make an extra meal out of any leftovers. With their convenient location, they are a great option to dine at while shopping in the area or getting to go after a busy day running around. My only complaint is that it's not ideal for taking large groups as they are a true "hole-in-the-wall" but they are still quite the gem.

Finally tried. We ordered the shoyu ramen no pork. This came with chicken,egg, and some veggies inside of course noodles. Bento box with fried tofu, veggies (broccoli & carrots) choice of sushi roll(avocado and peanut roll) white rice , miso sou and a side salad. Their dressing is good the miso soup was very good. The ramen had good flavor and they give a lot of food. The bento box was good as well. Cute restaurant, our waiter/and others were very nice. Definitely will go back to try other items.

Kind of a no frills sushi shop. And I dont mean the food, the sushi is tasty, just not going to win prizes for dressing up the plates or ambience. Was crowded on a wednesday night, and while I did not have to wait, lots of folks who came in behind me did. Overall a decent value, but wouldnt take a first date there.

Best sushi spot in town. I love their spicy scallops nigiri. Must try! Their fish are always fresh and everything is always tasty and delicious.

This is your typical strip mall sushi and hibachi. It doesn't blow you away, but it's not bad either. I tend to get the nigiri meal with a miso soup and salad. It's decent and filling. It's a good overall restaurant.

It's been a while since I've been here. I liked it when I did go when they were still new and it's still a very cute places to dine. It's not a 3 but not a 4 but somewhere in between. The food was aesthetically pleasing to the eye but I think the flavor was not a standout feature. It seemed everything tasted the same dispite the variety selected. The soup was good and we were the appetizers. The sushi lacks that distinction between each roll and I thought the rolls were quite big. Might be a good thing for some but having to make 2 bites to finish a single roll without it breaking apart on you was a little messy. The service was good no complaints there's. They have a good menu that would accommodate different eaters as well. Try it out. It's worth a go.

This place always hits! Service and food are excellent! One of my favorites in town!

Wife and I went in for a meal tonight and a young child (4 or 5) was running around the dining room. He was running back and forth behind the chair where I was trying to sit, his parents doing nothing. I asked his father to come get him and dad came over to ask if I had a problem. I told him his child running around unsupervised was a problem. He insisted he was supervised. I protested - you're not supervising him from across the dining room. The hostess came over and rudely chastised me for starting an argument. Definitely will not return to this establishment.

This is a real gem of a find. Not a Thai-sushi hybrid, but a pure Japanese restaurant. Fish is fresh, the rolls are creative, rice is done correctly. Miso soup is competent. Ginger sesame dressing is spot on. Portions are generous (not quite as generous as my intercontinental favorite Sushi Arashi in San Jose, but a respectable contender.) I am eating two nights in a row. How I have missed great Japanese food! I don't have to travel to Nashville to get good sushi anymore. Service prompt and courteous. This is a small venue, a local favorite, and fills up quickly, Its 5pm on Friday and all tables are seated. Come early, They may not be able to accommodate large parties.

Solid sushi place with great lunch specials. Reasonable prices and decent quality rolls. Get the yellowtail jalapeño from the appetizer section!

My absolute FAVORITE sushi spot in the middle TN area. The rolls here are enormous and are a great deal for the price, especially if you get their lunch deal which is 3 rolls for $14!!! You won't find sushi of this quality, portion, and price anywhere in Tennessee. Out of the dozens of rolls I have tried, my favorite are the Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Yellowtail, and Alaska Roll. Their specialty rolls are particularly amazing, especially the Bonnie and Clyde. Someday I'll try their entree items, which I always eyeball when someone next to me orders them. They always look amazing! The vibes inside are great too, with cute Japanese inspired art on the walls. This is my favorite low key date spot. The service here is always fast and efficient. Do not skip out on Oishiya!

Love this little sushi place, foods are fresh and delicious, staffs and service are exceptional. We ordered fresh oysters for appetizers and that was excellent, the fatty salmon were melted in your mouth and we finished off with the party love boat and that was awesome. Highly recommend this place for sushi lovers.

I love to eat here....the food is delicious, served hot and fresh. The hibachi seafood is always great and I love it! But, the ambience leaves a lot to be desired, it's a Very Small Place with zero space to wait for a table. Because it's such good food, the wait can be long and they don't take reservations....so, there's that. Will we return? Yes! But with lots of patience!

WOW!! This place is so good!!! The rolls are so good!! My favorites are the sweet potato roll and the blossom roll (with STRAWBERRIES!!) The gyoza is also SOOOOOO good, I get it every time! The service was good, and everyone there was so nice. There is usually a wait on weekends, but for good reason. The wait is definitely worth it. The location is good and the wall decoration is super cool. I HIGHLY recommend Oishiya to anyone looking for a good dinner!

Came here for lunch with a co worker. We arrived when they first opened so there wasn't a lot of people there and we were able to come in and sit right down. The setting was very casual and for such a casual place was very quiet felt like I had to whisper so the entire restaurant wouldn't hear me. I ordered the Snakebite roll that came with shrimp, crabmeat, creame cheese, spicy mayo, eel sauce, sriracha, masago and tempura flakes. I had high expectations for this roll but the was let down due to the amount of cream cheese that was in it, it overpowered the rest of the roll and that's all I could taste. I will be back to try it again without the cream cheese as well as try the other items on the menu because they did have a lot of dishes that sounded really good.

So delicious! The food was wonderful and the service was just as good. They were pretty busy tonight, but I expected that being that it was Saturday evening. Their dinning area isn't very large, but there were still able to make room for us! Definitely recommend if you're in the Murfreesboro area.

Amazing service delicious food can't go wrong with the prices. Put it on my favorite list for every time I'm traveling through Murfreesboro I will stop.

We don't live near here but my son had a bday party at the laser tag around the corner. I wish this place was close to me! Some of the best sushi. Even my daughter was eating the rolls and sushi which she never does! If you haven't gone and like sushi and live close go!!!! You will be very happy you did!

Wow!!!! Cool little place with great service! I was really impressed with the server (Avery)for starters. She was super helpful and very polite! I the sushi was fantastic and there was tons of flavors other than standard sushi restaurants. I do need to add that it was unbelievable fast...so sushi out of the norm. Great experience!!!

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki bento and the Catapiller roll. Food was good, flavor wise. However; the vegetables were raw and the chicken was tough. I do not recommend the Chicken Teriyaki bento. I paid for it but couldn't chew any of it. The Catapiller roll was very good. The service was excellent, ask for Mystic, she was our waitress.

Food and service were great. We have picky kids and they really liked it. We will be back.

got the bonnie and clyde roll, blossom roll, and crunchy shrimp. bonnie and clyde was good, but tasted a bit bland. good with jalapeños. i highly recommend the blossom roll, it was my favorite and it has a wonderful flavor. crunchy shrimp is good too, but the blossom roll is great.

Let me get straight to business. This place knows how to do their business and well. They don't do reservations so I suggest you get there before you're actually hungry. But then again, I went on a Friday night. I went with my family of four and we waited about 30-40 mins for a table. Well worth it. The food is way better than other places I've tried around the area and service is AMAZING! They really know how to take care of their clients. Their menu es extensive so you will have tons options for everyone in the family. We tried the unfiltered sake and it was delicious. Price is totally decent. Parking is limited.

Wanted to get some hibachi, but wife didn't want the full show so decided to try here. This place looks very unassuming from the parking lot, corner of a strip mall next to a "cat cafe" BUT man the food is spot on! Place was full, waited 10 minutes for a table and was still a wait when we left. Wife had the Chicken & Shrimp hibachi and loved it. I had the dragon roll and yaki soba and was not disappointed!

Sushi was fresh, large portions and very tasty! Very popular and busy place with lots of regulars so took us a little bit to get our rolls, but the server was awesome and friendly with great ambiance. Def going back!

We have lived in Murfreesboro for a year now. We have tried several Hibachi places and by far this place has been the best so far. We ordered the chicken hibachi and steak hibachi dinners. We ordered carry out, which took about 20-25 minutes, not bad. Each meal had a large amount of meat that allowed us to share our meals and still have left overs. The meat was tender and cooked just right. The rice and yum yum sauce was also very delicious. This place is not a very big place, so if you are going to dine in, you may have a little wait. We can't wait to have their hibachi again. Staff was very courteous and polite.

The food and the portion sizing is always on points. The ambiance and customer service is top notch for the area. I highly recommend to check this place out. You won't be disappointed

My wife and I live in Murfreesboro and this is our favorite restaurant. It's busy on the weekends, but we're happy to see them succeed, because they deserve it. Great food and service, cleanliness and consistency, kind and professional staff. You should try this place if you haven't been here.

I don't always go out for Japanese food, but from now on, when I do, I will go to this place. I've been there many times and all the dishes I've enjoyed were top shelf. I've brought friends and large groups and everyone has been impressed. My eldest son is a Japofile and he said the dishes he had here put all the other Japanese restaurants in Murfreesboro to shame. Normally, I rate each dish presented and break it down. OK Dish 1 - Great Dish 2 - Great Dish 3 - Great etc, etc, etc. Get the idea?

Delicious and healthy food. Cheerful service. It was quite busy when we went, but in spite of that, we did not have to wait long. Attention to detail was appreciated.

Highly recommend. I don't think I've seen nicer staff at any restaurant in my life. From food recommendations to offering to-go menus and to-go drinks, they were above par in all areas. The food was wonderful! We had the tempura crab appetizer and 2 sushi rolls. Small restaurants as far as seating goes but the wait wasn't bad at all for 6PM on a Saturday. We will be returning! Menu has good range on prices. You could eat pretty cheap if you choose to.

1st time here tonight. Place is very cozy. Great for date night. We ordered the love boat...so good! Miso soup and the salad dressing are the bomb. Great service! Our go to for sushi and sashimi from now on!

Great atmosphere & friendly service. We usually order the same items. Everything tastes so good. My favorite is the Dinosaur egg, which is crab meat with avocado shaped into an egg.

3 maki rolls for $19 for dinner, served with a soup and salad! Amazing deal for such delicious, high quality fish. If they made their menu more accessible online/had a website, I have no doubt this would be one of the hottest sushi places in the boro. Will come again!

Not sure why this place is crowded. This was honestly the worst sushi I've ever had. Like, worse than airport sushi. Went for lunch and got the three roll deal and every single thing I put in my mouth tasted old. Maybe it's better at dinner, but I'll never know...

This place stands out for it's service, food and atmosphere. Great sushi rolls, hibachi meals, and lunch specials. I have not had a bad bite here. Servers are great, Attentive and friendly.

Quaint and cute restaurant. Seats are padded and comfy. It's small so there may be a wait for a table. Customer service was excellent!!! Friendly, attentive staff. My boyfriend and I were at a two topper but our server moved us to a four topper when he realized how much food we ordered. Food was amazing!!! Wasabi shumai- delicious with hints of wasabi. Not spicy. Snapper and yellowtail sashimi-melt in your mouth, perfect temp Rolls Tuna avocado roll- delicious Oishiya-highly recommend, best roll we had Hawaii- if you like mango, this HITS!!! Ninja-good, but least favorite, it was kind of bland despite the jalapeños and roe on top White Swan-yummy yummy Amazing-tasted good but the sauce on top was excellent!!! I could slurp a whole bowl of it Dessert-Mango mochi...typical mochi but they surprised us by gifting it to me for my BIRTHDAY!!!!! So nice.

After having Valentine's Day dinner here with my husband tonight, Oishiya restored my faith in AMAZING customer service. They have a nice and relaxed atmosphere, the sushi was really good, portions and price were great, but our server V went above and beyond with us tonight as well as the girl who took care of us after he had to step out (my apologies as I did not get her name, but she so sweetly commented on my lashes). Our server V made sure our sushi selections suited our taste and that we were happy with what we ordered. On top of that, he also gave us some other recommendations to try the next time we came in. We'll definitely come back here and I would HIGHLY recommend it for anyone looking to have a great sushi experience with great customer service. Thank you so much!!

This is our favorite place for sushi! It is always fresh and the staff are nice. There is generally a wait every time we go because it is so popular, but it's never too long. The fried rice is so good too, honestly everything we've tried here is.

The rolls are huge omg. So good but be careful ordering or you might end up with more in a to go box than expected lol. Wait staff was so sweet and helpful.

Oishiya is the best Sushi restaurant in Murfreesboro. Always fresh and delicious. I also love their hibachi - the lunch portion is great and the price is super fair. Delicious!

Best sushi in town! It's a small restaurant and can get pretty busy on the weekends but don't let that stop you. Their menu is extensive and everything is tasty. I always stick to the vegetarian sushi options but there are lots of appetizers that are delicious as well. Only thing I wish they had was more ramen options

Service was terrible. Watched others come in after us get served. Waited an hour for our food and we finally walked out. Seems like it's being run by children.
