Every MICHELIN-Star Restaurant in São Paulo

"I experienced an unpretentious, straightforward approach to Japanese sushi at Oizumi Sushi, a more casual counter among the city's celebrated Japanese establishments." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Toro nigiri with smoked salmon roe, sea bass sushi, bluefin akami served on a shiso leaf, and a superb combination of sea urchin with salmon roe and rice all feature on the menu in this modest eatery that takes its names from the Japanese town of Ōizumi, in Gunma province, home to the biggest concentration of Brazilian immigrants in the country. Here, the only option is a single 16-course Omakase menu that is meticulously prepared with fresh fish of the day, as well as a selection of other species that chef Danilo Maciel matures in a special cabinet in the restaurant to ensure maximum flavour. Highly attentive and extremely gifted in his slicing techniques, the chef explains the preparation process for each dish, the maturing time (particularly for tuna, his star ingredient) and the provenance of each fish from around the world. Guests can choose between the sushi bar or one of the small private dining rooms set aside for groups of diners." - Michelin Inspector

Really interesting and fine omakase by Oizumi. We enjoyed our time here and the sushi was great. The omakase was rather different from the ones I’ve been to, mainly by curing and dry aging the fish than serving them raw. Definitely an interesting edge to it. Gave the atmosphere a 4 star instead of 5 because we were the only ones there. But nevertheless had a great time. Would recommend the omakase for 550R!

tbh not the biggest fan of the actual food- dry aged sushi doesn’t do it for me. The service and drinks were amazing but the actual taste of the fish wasn’t on point. I have traveled to every continent on this earth and it was meh here

I had a fantastic experience at Oizumi, this is probably the best sushi I’ve had in Brazil, and it represents one of the highest levels of sushi in South America. The chef is clearly talented and passionate, having fallen in love with sushi in just a few years and joining a Michelin-starred restaurant. As the only Asian guest and a sushi enthusiast, I have a few small suggestions: Sushi Rice Tasting: The rice tasting is unique, but since all the rice comes from the same pot, the impact is limited. It’s a nice touch, but I recommend clearing the spoons afterward. Sushi Serving Style: The chef serves 5-6 pieces of sushi at once, but I think serving one piece at a time would enhance the experience and preserve the sushi’s quality. Customization: It’s hard to customize the rice for each guest, but asking guests about their preferred wasabi level after the first piece would be a nice touch. Menu Balance: For a 16-course omakase, most dishes are sushi or rolls. Adding 3-4 more appetizers would provide a better balance. Lastly, since the chef encourages eating with hands, I suggest providing dedicated wet wipes for cleaning hands, rather than the towel. Thanks again for the wonderful experience!

The food was fresh and amazing. The service is exceptional. I was a bit nervous about going there because I speak no Portuguese. The Chef was proficient in English and patiently explained every dish in English to me. He was awesome! Also, the online reservation was easy and seamless.

Amazing omasake experience! Danilo and Tha provided a delightful experience, felt like home with delicious food. Definitely one of the best sushi’s I’ve had in São Paulo - traditional with a kicker. The place is cozy and very intimate with just enough seats. We went to celebrate my in laws birthday and I’m definitely recommending and going back when possible. Must go if you’re looking for a traditional sushi experience with great sake pairing! If you like sake, ask for the traditional 2L imported Japanese sake and ENJOY!
