I was really disappointed with the owner's attitude during my recent visit.
Shortly after ordering an iced latte, I noticed that the rim of the glass was chipped. The chip was smooth--not sharp--but still unacceptable for serving drinks. I immediately informed a female staff member, who was very apologetic and promptly replaced the glass. I appreciated her quick and respectful response.
However, when the owner came over later and the staff explained what had happened, she showed absolutely no reaction. She didn't look for me to offer an apology or even acknowledge the situation. So I approached her myself and said, "Are you the owner? The glass I was served was chipped." She then raised her voice and said, "Did you cut your mouth? Do you need to go to the hospital?" in a rather defensive and inappropriate tone.
My husband told me to let it go, but honestly, I was shocked by the lack of accountability and basic hospitality. This is supposed to be a well-regarded coffee shop known for quality and service, so it's unfortunate that such a careless and unprofessional attitude came from the very person in charge.
After stayed in Ojai for a few days, there are so many other coffee shops are so much better. This place, customer treatment leaves a bad taste too.
