The 27 Best Restaurants in Toronto

"Ramen seems pretty straightforward, but has a number of moving parts—all of which Oji Seichi nails. Toronto's multitude of foodies have largely followed Chef Mitch Bates from Momofuku, to Grey Gardens, and finally to here, an intimate space located in the city's East Chinatown (not to be confused with the main Chinatown), where Bates offers up his own take on the beloved soupy, noodley dish. Ramen seems pretty straightforward, but has a number of moving parts—all of which Oji Seichi nails. The broth is rich without being oily, the produce is fresh and local, the meats (and portobellos, for the vegetarian option) are perfectly tender and not tough or rubbery, and the noodles—the noodles!—are made from top-notch Canadian wheat, and pulled in-house on a special machine flown-in from Japan. While ramen does—and should—take center stage, there's also an excellent menu of "sandys'' on offer. And if you've saved room for dessert, ask if there's Coco Kasu Pie available." - Todd Plummer

Literally closed every time I try to go, but looks good. New ramen + Japanese sandwich spot. Also this might not technically be Riverside anymore, but a good reason to detour north to east Chinatown.

Server was great, they got a nice space just need some music or something. Both ramens we had tasted nice, but both broths were lukewarm, I do enjoy my broth hot. Not sure if it’s for a specific reason but if it is I’d be curious to know.

The ramen at this place is like the ultimate comfort food. Such a nice place, with great food and great service. The staff were very friendly and the food was so tasty. Just a heads-up though, this is a cashless business, so credit/debit/ATM cards only 🙂

Google
Great spot, wonderful service, food was… ok. Shio ramen is usually a great way to see a places true talent with making a broth that has depth, and this was not that. Honestly just a fairly generic bowl of noodle soup. Not bad, but not an authentic Shio ramen. I would travel a little further if you can.

Google
Good ramen. Both is on a lighter and sweet side. Perfect ramen texture. Burger and the ice cream was good but nothing special. Size portion is average and price is on higher end. Overall a nice ramen place

Google
Everything is so good. The server gave the most poetic and descriptive overviews of the different flavours. It really helped us order the most delicious ramen -and the kids were spoiled. This soft serve ice cream, parfait, sesame seed crumble thing is enough to make you want to write a five star review while you’re sitting at the table. Here’s a photo. It may have looked good when it was served…

Google
Absolutely amazing! The servers were very diligent and the service fast. The food itself is absolutely amazing especially spicy sesame ramen, after a long walk in the park we licked out the plates 😋. For 2 people (2 ramens and a shareable) it was $59, which is super. Thank you.

Google
Super great and attentive service! Our server provided an extensive breakdown of the menu and answered our questions. The chicken katsu sandwich is to die for, will definitely be returning soon.

Google
Quick spot for a ramen, if you can get a seat by the window, it’s great for people watching. I got the Gyoza and Spicy Sesame Ramen which wasn’t very spicy but it was thick ramen. Definitely more dense and rich but very satisfying.

Yelp
A damn good bowl of ramen. I got the shoyu ramen, which had a flavourful but delicate broth. The noodles gad a perfect chewiness and consistency to them. You get a nice big piece of fatty cha siu and a whole marinated egg. The price is probably a bit higher than other spots, but the portions here are definitely more substantial. Pork gyozas are also a must!

Yelp
Despite the seating in the space being really limited, the counter offers a good alternative and we had no issue enjoying our meal. It was fantastic! The flavors, textures and options are exactly what you would need for a staple and solid bowl of ramen. Bonus points for the staff being incredibly kind and accommodating, we had to wait a bit but it was very much worth it!!

Yelp
Finally made it here before a Hugh's room concert. I'm a huge ramen fan and the veggie ramen did not disappoint. Ordered an extra egg. Tons of mushrooms and an almost creamy miso broth. Very tasty. My husband had the shoyu ramen. He seemed do disappointed. Said it was probably the most boring ramen he'd ever had. And he was a little put off by the nickel and diming us. 50 cents got the chili oil? It's a condiment. That's like charging for ketchup. Also, I found the gyoza a little pricy for what you get. It was tasty but I just bought a huge bag at Costco for exactly the same thing for a buck less. And there's no wine.

Yelp
Picked up their korroke( potato & veg croquette) sandy($13) for lunch. There was a gigantic korroke patty between buns. Potato was already creamy, on top of that mayo & tonkatsu sauce made this sandy more creamy. They added mushroom & peas to have more protein components rather than being a carb overload sandwiches. Vanilla soft serve with crunchy karinto(fried noodles snack with sweet salty glaze) & nori flakes was such a fun idea as well.

Yelp
Their shio ramen is delicious! The price is a little higher for portion size compared to other ramen restaurants but you can tell they make their food with LOVE. The pork is so tender and the slight grilling gave a nice smokey taste. You can tell the noodles are fresh, the egg was jammy and marinated to perfection! Do I think about the egg on the daily? Always. The waitress also provided amazing service, she was helpful and went above and beyond without interfering with our meal. The space is really modern, clean and bright! Also I want to mention they have the best playlist?? This is my partner and I's new favourite ramen joint

Yelp
I was so excited to go here, but then realized they don't serve traditional ramen anymore and now serve mazemen. If you like mazemen it's worth a try, but personally I am not a fan of mazemen. So I was pretty disappointed upon arriving here. I wish they still had some traditional ramen options. I got the oji mazemen which was pretty tasty. It reminded me of okonimiyaki from the flavors. The meat in it was super crispy and tender. My friend for the brisket one which wasn't as good. He said it tasted like bbq sauce. So is definitely try the oji one for more traditional flavors. The star of the show was the Nori Ranch! It came with the onion rings and honestly it was the best ranch dipping I've ever had!! I'm giving this 3 stars because overall everything was just ok, and the service was pretty slow. We waited a while to get our food.

Yelp
Located in the heart of East Chinatown, Oji is one of the few restaurants that is helping to modernize the area. We spoke to one of the owners and found out they kept previous Chinese BBQ restaurant signage as a way to pay homage and keep a memory of the old Chinatown. The food was delicious and service was great. The decor is very modern and clean. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Overall pretty disappointing for the new place in the neighborhood. Got the shoyu ramen, ramen lite, curry korrokke, cucumber seaweed salad and gyozas. Shoyu ramen 2/5 - I was hoping it has a light delicate flavour but broth had no flavour and a touch layer of fat. Noodles were a nice texture (fresh, chewy) but wish they had a thick noodle option. Toppings only added texture but otherwise lost in the bowl of no flavour. The chashu had a great texture, soft rendered fat but the butane taste overwhelmed the actual porkiness. Ramen lite 2/5 - same as above but no chashu and very few toppings Note for the ramen, we also got the additional chilli oil but it didn't add much either. Was hoping it would add a bit of spice but it just added a red layer of fat. Curry korrokke 4/5 - one of the best things we had. Great taste, decent texture and melts in your mouth. Wish the breading was more crispy but still pretty good Cucumber seaweed salad 4/5 - the other dish we really liked. Probably should have been called daikon and cucumber salad because the seaweed was a bit lacking. It was crispy and acidic, I would have liked either more sweetness or a touch more salt but a decent pickled salad to cut through all the fat Gyoza 3/5 - nothing special and a bit overcooked. The part of the wrapper that wasn't fried was mushy. Crispy part was ok. There meat itself was soft and tender but lacked any bounce or chew. It's fine but for me I wouldn't get it again. Summary - after all that it came out to about $80 and my wife and I weren't hungry but also not particularly full. The portions are a bit small and the star items (ramen) aren't that great. We thought the small menu meant they were excellent at everything but really it's just ok. 3/5 overall.

Yelp
I've found the best vegetarian ramen in town! So happy I was introduced to this restaurant. Its always hard finding vegetarian versions of your favourite dishes but I might even enjoy this more than the usual meat based broths. Oji seichi uses a mushroom based stock that's creamy, flavourful, hearty, and thick. It's packed with nicely charred mushrooms and peppers. 100/10. Egg is perfect as well. Enjoy this with their homemade chili oil and you have one of the best meals to enjoy on a rainy day. Another dish we really enjoyed was the tempura vegetables. I love how light yet crispy the batter was. This was paired with a sweet mustard which was new to me but surprisingly made sense. Must order!
google avatar

Rea H.

Yelp
The ramen was very nice! Was stuck out to me post was how well the egg was cooked. It was so runny and very well marinated. I loved the noodles and broth too, I asked for chilly oil on the side as well (for an extra fee) and it was so good inside the ramen. The only thing that I didn't like about this place was that it was ridiculously over priced, $20 for a bowl of ramen, and to add an extra fee for chilly oil is so silly. There was also barely any options, only 4 ramens on the menu. Overall a good place, nicely designed restaurant, the food came out fast as well but you can get a bowl of ramen just as good for way cheaper in Toronto.

Yelp
Favourite ramen spot in the city. The broth is rich and savoury. The maitake mushroom and shishito peppers are nicely grilled. The egg is perfectly done. Everything here is so flavourful . Highly recommend

Arbi D.

Yelp
One of the better ramen bowls in Toronto. My personal second favourite. The best egg I've ever tasted. Otherwise, great broth, amazing chilli sauce, pork also very tasty (but might be too fatty for some people) The staff are nice and the interior is nice and cozy.

Yelp
Came here for their pop up dinner collab with Rurubaked! It was a little out of the way on the east end but close to bridgepoint hospital so not too far out! The tempura corn made the summer salad delish although it was a small salad. The mazemen ramen was also super flavourful with black garlic and Japanese eggplant. We really liked how the vinegar flavors came though. Tbh I wasn't sure if I would have liked non soupy ramen but this was quite delicious! Definitely slurped that one up!! The shansho and sour Japanese plum sundae was okayyy. I thought the milk crumble was too crunchy and hard and the shansho didn't sit too well w me. It's definitely a distinct taste!! Overall the portions were kind of small for the $65pp menu but I'm glad to have tried it and glad to be able to support small businesses! Hopefully the other offerings in store are more reasonably priced! :))

Yelp
The Oji Classic Shio Ramen is really comforting. The ingredients are fresh. The roast pork belly won me over. Nicely charred and soft. Easily falls apart in your mouth with a smooth buttery and smoky taste. Definitely would come again for more ramen.
google avatar

Dora H.

Yelp
The roasted pork belly in the ramen is definitely a standout at this joint, but oof the price is high!! Is it already accounting for the inflation in the next two years . Joking aside, the quality is high - noodle texture was perfect and the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, thick cut, and buttery. If you're looking for that milky, hearty bone broth flavour you should order the sesame paitan. The Shio and shoyo ramen are both lighter broth, but I find the Shio broth still quite oily (it looked like there was also some kind of green herb oil on top to add to the flavour). The green tea IPA was also pretty special - you can taste the light honey and green tea flavours... it may be the only IPA I enjoy. Overall the price deters me from visiting often, but it certainly is a place I would bring friends to check out.

Yelp
This ramen restaurant is found in East Chinatown, and is inspired by both Canadian and Japanese ingredients. We stumbled across this spot visiting our local Chinatown, and knew we had to give it a shot! The menu is strictly ramen, and so only has a few options for appetizers and add-ons. Everything is made in house, from broths to noodles. We tried their: 1. Oji Classic Shio Ramen - clear salt based broth. 3. Oji Classic Shoyo Ramen - clear soy sauce based broth. Both ramen dishes were topped off with nori, egg, scallions, naruto, bamboo shoot, roasted pork belly, and spinach. We liked the shoyo ramen better than the shio ramen as the broth was light and flavourful, with a slight tang taste. The shio broth was simpler in flavour, but also very tasty. As for the toppings, we roasted pork belly was thick and tender, pairing well with the veggies. As for drinks, they had a selected menu and we tried their hibiscus herbal iced tea. The packaging of this can was so cute, however it only tasted like soda water. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would return back if we are in the area again.

Yelp
It might take a bit longer to get here if you're used to frequenting downtown ramen shops, but its worth it - trust me. I honestly thought I wasn't into ramen until I came to Oji. I'm used to the conventional ramen broth and often it can get too heavy or salty for me and I don't like leaving a meal feeling dehydrated hours later. With Oji, it's different. The mezamen is delicious and I can now say I actually enjoy having ramen. It's a dry ramen with such good flavours and the perfect qq chew to their noodles. We ordered the curry and brisket mezamen and both were so flavourful with juuust the right amount of spice (because I am spice intolerant haha). We also had their seaweed cucumber salad and it added the right balance of tartness to help digest everything. Service was quick and everyone there is super friendly, whether you're a frequent customer or there for the first time - it's all good vibes and ambiance. It's been nice to see a gem like Oji open up in East Chinatown, just wish they were here when I frequented this area more, but I'll be glad to come back to this part of town more now!

Yelp
Pork gyoza - 10/10 steamed and fried, good ratio of meat to skin, one of the best I've had Ramen shio and Ramen shoyu - 6/10 Pork belly, perfectly cooked tender and charred to infuse some smokiness noodle size is thin, would have preferred the option for thicker like other places (isshin, sensotei) Soup tastes more like salt then anything else, almost overpowering, Salad - 6/10 interesting take on seaweed salad, very clean tasting, pairs well with the savoury of the ramen Service, ambience (for a ramen shop), cleanliness etc all excellent

Yelp
Ramen is one of my favorite comfort food as it's always perfect to have in any season. So of course when there's new ramen spots that open in Toronto, I have to try them out! Oji Seichi is opened by Mitch Bates who hails from Michelin starred Momofuku Ko in New York. Their philosophy is to provide a friendly, and comfortable place to connect with friends & family. This philosophy was inspired by their own Uncle Seichi. Everything begins with their ramen noodles which are made fresh daily using a Japan imported noodle machine whom they named Midori. Lastly, fresh local Canadian ingredients are simmered for hours to create the delicious broth for their ramen. I tried the Oji Classic Shoyu Ramen, and loved how rich & flavourful the broth was. The freshness of the noodles were apparent as I took a bite, and I loved the chewy texture of it as well. We were lucky to get a seat quickly as we went on a weekend which normally has a long waiting list. If you're looking to taste authentic and fresh ramen, Oji Seichi is a must visit!
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
I'm not much of a soup guy so can't really tell how different the broth is at Oji Seichi (seemed tastier to me than other ramen spots, but what do I know). That said, I've had noodles all my life and am confident in saying this place has one of the tastiest and most distinct noodles I've had in any ramen shop. I mean, I don't know exactly what or why or how, but wow, those were tasty! Only complaint with the shoyu ramen we got was I would have liked more filling (pork belly, egg) for the price. Also got the shrimp sandy and onion rings. The shrimp patty was thick and tasty, though I thought the bun was too soft for my liking (my wife loved it though and said it was super soft and pillowy). The onion rings though were OMG amazing. Why a ramen shop would have these great onion rings is beyond me. But they were sweet, not overly coated, and nice and crispy. Overall service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
One of my favourite ramen restaurants! Great little restaurant with friendly staff. Clean and inviting! The food is absolutely delicious! The ramen reminds me of being in Japan! Definitely check it out!

Yelp
This ramen is SO GOOD! I love their broth, it's such an unique flavour. Very delicious! Great service, staff was friendly and always check if you need anything. Store is well maintained. Will definitely visit again!!

Yelp
Oji Seichi is East Chinatown's newest ramen spot highlighting Tokyo/Takayama ramen. Located steps away from the intersection of Gerrard and Broadview, the restaurant is named after the owner's uncle, Oji Seichi. The business focuses on sharing their family traditions with quality ingredients that is community focused. Oji Seishi opened in late June where it is currently in a soft opening phase. Due to pandemic restrictions, they are take out only. from Wed to Sun The space inside and that floor mosaic is pretty neat too. I had been following Oji Seishi on Instagram for a while and also subscribed to them via email for updates regarding their opening date. After receiving the email that they would be soft opening on June 19th where I had early access to preorder takeout I jumped at the chance. I preordered a classic shio ramen, gyoza, and shrimp sando for pickup on their opening day. The prices compared to other ramen shops in the city is a bit on the higher side. Pickup day of was a bit slower than normal as I am sure, as a new business, they are trying to work out the flow of things. Either way, I was surprised that I was given a pack of free fresh noodles as I was one of their first 100 customers. Food wise, for the ramen, I opted to have uncooked noodles so that I could cook the noodles at home. The soup and ramen toppings came in separate containers. The shio ramen itself was delicious! The freshly made ramen noodles had great texture/bounce and was easy to slurp. The broth was beyond delicious. Using a mix of pork, chicken, and seafood, the broth had good umami and I almost drank all of it. The gyoza were cooked great but of course would have been better if they were eaten after they were freshly cooked. The shrimp burger definitely had a lot of shrimp flavour as they use a shrimp patty (instead of having a deep fried or coated shrimp patty). The flavour of the shrimp comes out strong and the buns they use don't go soggy. Overall great new ramen spot in East Chinatown! Definitely order take out from them but hope to dine in once it's safe to do so!

Yelp
Oji Seichi, the restaurant looked pretty new. It has outdoor and indoor seating. The interior design of the ramen shop was elegant. I ordered an Oji Classis Shoyu Ramen, a Shrimp Sandy, an order of Gyoza and a bottle of Asahi. Gyoza/dumplings (score: 5/5) This is the first order to arrive. I haven't seen a lot of ramen shop made Giza in traditional Japanese style. This is amazing! A lot of meat inside the dumpling. So generous! I think I tasted ginger in the dumpling. I love ginger personally. Great! Oji Classic Shoyu Ramen (score: 4/5) The waitress told us this was the most popular item and so we ordered it. It had a piece of chasu, half of an egg, a slice of fish cake (naruto), bamboo shoot and some greens. I especially love the broth. It tasted like it's a fish broth even though the menu said the broth was soy sauce based. Lovely! The negative thing that I wanted to say was the portion was too small and it's a bit pricey for a small bowl of ramen costing $16.50 Shrimp Sandy (score: 4/5) It looked like a White Castle sandwich to me, I was referring to its size! I can't deny that it was extraordinary. Usually hamburger would have a beef patty but this sandwich had a shrimp patty in it. I hope the shrimp patty could be thicker. Haha! What an interesting sandwich! Asahi - refreshing as always! Overall, everything is great!!

Yelp
Long story short: Fantastic, fresh and hearty ramen! Long story long: This place is under the radar! It's a small menu to choose from, but I believe they do it well. I had the Oji Veggie Miso Ramen (added an egg) and it was delicious! The broth was flavourful and I adore maitake mushrooms. We sat outside, which was nice. The staff were also kind and accommodating. If you're in the east end, it's a great spot for ramen!
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
I freaking love ramen. I've made it a mission to eat at pretty much every good spot in the city... which I'm still working on because there are a lot of them. BUT... so far, Oji Seichi is the best I've had in all of Toronto. I had the shio ramen. The broth is a hearty mix of meat and seafood. The noodles are a mix of whole wheat, rye, and white flour, which gives them a beautiful toothiness. The pork is gorgeous - not an overcooked, thin chewy slab like in many other ramen places. This cut is thick and juicy. My only complaint is that their only miso offering is the vegetarian bowl. I LOVE miso ramen, but can't do ramen without some supple pork. Great service, great vibe, and effing great ramen. Go to Oji Seichi, then have a cute night at Riverdale Park. OH! And be sure to stop at Good Cheese after to grab some great wine!

Allison T.

Yelp
One of the best ramen in the city. The broth is so flavorful and the noodles have the right firmness. It keeps me coming back. They now have a tasty vanilla soft serve which is the perfect ending to a meal.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
A nice little ramen shop that also has sandwiches on their menu. Nice staff, simple and clean. Gyoza 3/5 - flavours were on the saltier side, but texture was good. Nothing too out of the ordinary and was a bit expensive at $7 for 4 pieces. Shoyu ramen 3.5/5 - noodles had a whole wheat texture, so less smooth than I anticipated. There was a nice chew to the noodles in consistency, but the broth itself was more subtle and not as rich in flavour as I associate ramen with. There was also spinach in the dish, which was an interesting addition and provided the dish with a flavour that I was unfamiliar with in terms of ramen broths.

Jan L.

Yelp
Delicious ramen. Great place for comfort food. Nice cozy restaurant.

Yelp
When I ordered Oji Seichi's only vegetarian ramen, it's veggie miso, I was looking forward to the many toppings listed: egg, mushroom, bamboo shoots, spinach, seaweed and green onions. This heap of goodies is more than you'd get in other ramen shops, though to be fair, the price point also accounts for the elaborate spread---with a bowl coming in at $17.50 versus the usual $14 or $15. However, what really stood out to me was the broth! As someone who enjoys the earthy taste of mushrooms, I was taken aback by how much this was infused in the broth (felt more mushroom than miso!) and also surprised by how rich the broth was. Not only that, my ramen also came with 2 grilled green peppers, one of which had a nice substantial kick to it. All were an unexpected, but very welcomed surprise. Overall, though the price point for a bowl of ramen is set a bit higher than other ramen shops on Toronto, the quality of Oji Seichi's veggie miso ramen was worth it and the broth was memorable! Recommended for vegetarians, but beware if they don't like mushrooms. FYI a quick note on hours, I had tried to dine in over the summer, but didn't realize they closed during the weekend between lunch and dinner, so make sure you verify the hours before you go.

Yelp
The sandos are great! Got one chicken and one pork teriyaki- and I have to say that the pork is tastier. The chicken was super juicy too though. Would come back and try the shrimp sando!

Yelp
Shio ($16.50) and Shoyu Ramen ($16.50) from @ojiseichi Wanted to try out this new ramen store because one of the chefs was a lead chef at the Michelin-starred Momofuku in NY! The noodles were AMAZING. One of the best ramen noodles I've had! You can definitely taste how fresh it was. The ramen broth for both the shio and shoyu was pretty light but greasy at the same time? Personally, I like more rich and creamy ramen so it was decent for me. Also, it came with one big chunk of pork belly! But only 1. Overall, taste 7.5/10, service 9/10 and value 7/10 as it is a bit pricier for ramen!

Suga-thai T.

Yelp
A very solid bowl of ramen. Noodles, chashu and egg are the best I've had in Toronto so far and I've had most of the popular ramen spots in the city. Broth isn't my favourite, but I'm usually not a big fan of clear broth ramens anyway + adding their chili oil makes it better imo. Portion size is small for the price, so not sure when I'll be coming back, but I definitely will.

Yelp
I don't think it's a stretch to say that ramen is one of my favorite foods, so I didn't have to think long when I was asked to have a meal at Oji Seichi. We showed up just before they opened on a recent Saturday and there was already an impressive number of people waiting to be seated. We snagged a sweet patio table and ordered almost immediately. (It's a pretty spare menu, so choosing isn't super difficult.) I decided to try the Oji Classic Shio Ramen ("Salt based (chicken, pork and seafood) broth, egg, roast pork belly, bamboo shoot, fish cake, nori, spinach and scallions") and it arrived to the table within about 10 minutes. This is one outstanding bowl of ramen. The soup itself is deceptively simple yet almost ridiculously flavorful, as new layers are constantly revealing themselves the more you eat. The other components fare just as well, especially the delicious noodles and the addictive roast pork belly. (I could've eaten a whole bowlful of the latter.) It's almost a good thing I live pretty far from this joint, since I feel like I'd be there almost daily if it was nearby.

Yelp
This is hands down the BEST ramen I have EVER had -- meticulous doesn't quite say it. Speechless would be one way of describing the taste. Deep, sublime -- I'd have to write a haiku to capture the essence of the delicious tastes
google avatar

Yelp
It is a clean small place with limited relatively basic menu but globally well executed. A safe place on the list. Not a top ten on my list, definitely buy ok.

Yelp
We don't like the broth here. As someone who has eaten at pretty much all the major ramen joints in Toronto, the bowl here just Misses Something. There is no depth of flavour in the broth - it eats like it's extremely thin. I'm not sure if this is a purposeful flavour choice, and even if it is, I think it was not ideal. When I think about ramen, I think about Warmth. A hearty, salty, porky delicious bowl of soup. This is not what was served here. This tasted like chicken stock with a thin layer of green ?kelp/herb/spinach oil. The broth is pretty much the only setback of this place. The toppings were great. The noodles were Spectacular! Probably one of the best I've had in Toronto. The shrimp patty was also yummy.
google avatar

Juliana H.

Yelp
I pass this place everyday going to and from work. I also have been following them on Instagram, and both the place and their photos look great. So I finally ordered for delivery their classic shio based ramen the other night. It arrived quickly and was piping hot. Perfect on a cold night. The noodles were just right - a nice amount of chew and tenderness. The pork was absolutely delicious too, and the broth was excellent - not overly salty, just flavourful. The dish is a bit pricy, but the serving size was large enough for dinner and leftovers for lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed.

Yelp
Middle of the road. The hype is not real. I can't say anything was abjectly bad but it simply lacks much sparkle. Flavours are muted, topping are alright but not outstanding, about the only solid hit are the noodles which are decent. Felt rushed out.

Yelp
Beautifully designed space. The flavours of the ramen were a little more "refined" than other places. The chicken, pork, and seafood combination broth is unique with plenty of delicate, complimentary flavours. Their sesame broth is more of a (more typical?) broth that is commonly served by other toronto ramen shops. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Decent Restaurant, love the concept and the decour but falling short with execution. Felt that their gyozas were soggy and not crispy (could easily have been fixed with higher heat and more time on the pan). Ramen was too salty and greasy, and sandwich was unmemorable.

Yelp
Great taste, but costs $20 for a smaller-sized bowl of ramen that comes with a small slice of chashu. At least the chashu melted in your mouth.

Yelp
Best veggie ramen in Toronto! I'm not even vegetarian but I get it every time because it cannot be beat.

Yelp
My wife and I were very excited to try this ramen as it was a style of ramen that I had really enjoyed in Tokyo and is different than what many of the other popular ramen joints serve. Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed. We ordered the Shio and the Shoyu to try both. The broths did have a distinct smokiness to them which was interesting but other than that there wasn't much else to it or much depth. We also found the Shoyu to be too salty and both had a layer of oil/fat on them that did not seem necessary. I understand that fat can help with providing a lighter broth like this some body it was too much. From my experience of having this type of ramen in Tokyo and other ramen places with similar styles of ramen this was never an issue nor was it ever needed. The bamboo shoots were also too sweet with an odd taste (I couldn't make it out, but the source of sweetness tasted odd, sort of like the difference between sugar and maple syrup, but not in a good way. The egg was also both too salty and sweet, overall there was just a lack of balance in the flavour. The portion size of the noodles was also small especially for the price. Compared to some favorites of ours (Ryu's and Santouka) the portions were definitely smaller and the noodles were not anymore "special" either. Overall, the meal was disappointing and a bit lack luster and for the price that made it worse.

Yelp
Another sign of gentrification! Oji's selling point is its noodles. If you expect decent food or services, I would not recommend it at all. The menu may be good for folks who don't care about food (a few options of ramen, a couple of sandwiches, and less than handful of snacks). It is extremely limited, so as their tables! Now, back to why I was there - their noodles. One word - salty! Unlike other quality Japanese ramen places, their broth tastes more or less the menu sells - salt or soy sauce. On that front, they are excessively "generous". No hints of bone or other ingredients. To satisfy folks who line up for exotic oriental dishes, they do add ample garnish like seaweed, chopped scallions and fake fish cakes. Did I mention limited tables? That's a typical marketing trick - making more people line up than they could serve. Just getting in already satisfy many. That won't keep real foodies though!

Yelp
I love this place and it's now my favorite ramen in the city! The broth tasted great, the noodles were good, the onion rings were fantastic, and the shrimp sandy patty was thick and bread was soft and pillowy. I can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
Delicious! The shrimp sandy was perfectly balanced and the ramen broths were so good and a bit different too. The shoyu broth had a bit of smokiness that made it more than the typical broth. The veggie miso broth was so rich and flavourful! Maitake mushrooms were a nice addition as well. Check these guys out, you won't regret it!
