Beautiful people, beautiful food. Living nearby two years and pass by almost everyday with my toddler. The family always, always, always says hello, makes small talk. Such very nice people. One day I needed something and went inside... never knew they had the MOST AMAZING INDONESIAN FOOD EVER right there. I always thought it was just a grocery story... But they make amazing, authentic, beautiful food to-go right there in the back of the store. I can not explain the food, being Italian-American from Brooklyn. Neither can my wife, being Taiwanese-American from Taiwan... But EVERY SINGLE THING we have ever bought from there was delicious. Everything. Please support these awesome people.

Tasty Indonesian sweets! Got the sticky rice balls coated in grated coconut (it's refrigerated and a green color). I had to google it- I think it's called klepon. I wasn't expecting the palm sugar filling in the middle! Delicious. Will be going back here to try other homemade treats.

Every so often I gather up a few friends and journey out to one of New York's wonderful enclaves. This time we went to Elmhurst to investigate the Indonesian food scene. While there aren't quite as many dining options as some others - say Sunset Park's Chinese or the Sri Lankans in Staten Island - getting creative there's plenty to discover. I attempted to gather the troops in the nearby Forest Hills mall, but eventually we went to this small store. It is not a big space, and it became increasingly comical as we tried to fit four, then six and finally nine people in the single common area while still allowing other customers to come and go. The dishes are offered are all almost all pre-prepared with a selection of dry goods shoved off in one corner. There were four or five people who either worked at the store or were using it as a place of socialization. One of them happily explained several of the various dishes, even pointing out which ones had pork, chicken, fish and other ingredients that might be problematic for some of our friends. We sampled fried fish balls dipped in a tart fish sauce, fried pork balls in a fiery red sauce, along with a savory vegetable pie with a full prawn on top and a cracker with full anchovies and peanuts baked right into the batter. There are no seats and on a day warmer than the winter one we arrived on it might be better to take some of this food onto a nearby stoop or even into the mall. I wish that this was my local bodega, as the fresh noodle dishes and savory snacks would make amazing lunches.

This is a tiny grocery that sells Indonesian products. Friendly staff! The selection is decent, not as good as Indo Java, which is nearby (Queens Blvd & Grand Ave). We only got the bubur sumsum, which is an Indonesian dessert, for $3.50. They definitely need to organize their store better. The store is so small & disorganized. It's hard for you to look around.

I've been to this place several times since I'm also coming from Indonesia. They have a lot of Indonesian food and almost all of their foods taste really good. The price itself is not too expensive. However it's better to have the food for to go since the place is really small and they have no place for the customers to eat there. The staff which is the owners itself are also nice and friendly.

As other reviewers had mentioned before me, this is a tiny hole in the wall that sells Indonesian goodies. I come by here every once in a while to try out various Indonesian goodies. For the uninitiated, such as myself, I sometimes ask the staff members to recommend me items. I've gotten to try some sweets this way. Lots of spices, ready made mixes, and tempeh to be had here. Every Friday or so, they also have ready made foods to go, which I've always wanted to try for myself, but I don't think their items are too vegetarian friendly. Oh, and since Indonesia was once a Dutch colony, you'll find some Dutch items here, such as chocolate hagelslag.

This little Indonesian grocery store has a fairly small selection of useful items such as fresh tempeh and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). I'd love to see a little more in terms of herbs and spices such as galangal root, turmeric root, kluwak, etc. What makes this place worthwhile, though, is the takeout meals stacked on the counter. I got a very tasty and authentic siomay (steamed dumplings and veggies with peanut sauce) and some roast chicken with rice and side dishes that was memorable for a tempe penyet (chili tempeh) that nearly burned my face off. I'm a fan of spicy food, and it was almost too hot for me. With a little of the chili scraped off, it was excellent. I would definitely go back for the prepared meals.

A wonderful small store with really friendly owners. I was looking for a pack of teh botol and they were really helpful. Their otak-otak (fish cakes) are also really good, which made me SO happy since the other ones I've tried here in New York were kind of shitty. I only wish the place was a little more organized, but I would definitely come again.

I'd give a four star for the selection, but a three for store organization. This is a tiny store that sells a variety of ingredients, Indonesian snacks, as well as cooked, ready to eat Indonesian food. I was able to find a great selection of snacks to satisfy my craving (e.g., peanuts, crackers). They also sell different kinds of cooked, ready to eat food like yellow rice meal, pempek (fish cake dish), and martabak (Indonesian pancake). I think they should do a better job in terms of store organization. Things are everywhere instead of being stored according to category. Although there aren't that many shelves to begin with, you just have to be patient looking at what's on each shelf. They also don't put price labels on the items. I hope as they grow bigger, the store will be more organized. The guys at the store are super nice though! They're also hilarious, trying to get us to buy more and more :p So don't forget to bring some cash with you!
