South Indian Food Stall Namkeen Pulls Out of Zeppelin Station - Eater Denver

"Aloha Poke left in December and was replaced by OK Poke. Zeppelin’s operators didn’t comment on the departure of Aloha but did say, 'OK Poke is an independent concept with higher-quality ingredients, and the operators and the concept are more aligned with Zeppelin Station and Zeppelin Development’s values.'" - Josie Sexton

Andrea our server was so helpful. She let me taste test to see what I would like. She knew the menu. And was very polite. The food was delicious and fresh. A little pricey for the portions. Thank you for the quality customer service.

Google
Tasty poke bowls. Prices are in line with other poke jawns round town. The fish tasted fresh despite it being totally dead (traffic-wise) the day I went in. The large size is worth the upcharge. I did a BYO tuna and roommate did not your Mama's with tuna. The wasabi peas were a nice topping choice. He said there were too many wasabi peas (no such thing, imho), so I got to enjoy some on my bowl 🤙 The one catch to the BYO is it is limited to 5 toppings without incurring additional charge, including some that I feel shouldn't count toward your topping limit (ie pickled ginger and sambal olek). Most other places I've been allow unlimited toppings for BYO, aside from avocado. Good news is avocado can be included as one of your 5 choices at no extra cost. They also have a clever ordering getup involving dry erase menus. Haven't seen how well this works with a large crowd but it seems efficient and imagine it helps with line clog due to indecisive peeps (me). Located in Zeppelin station, which despite the initially stark aesthetic, is one of the better laid out food halls around town. Staff were friendly. Looking forward to returning.

Google
Good. Ordered a bowl on doordash. It was missing the avocado, but they added extra of some of the other items and apologized via a post-it. I appreciate the effort. An explanation, apology, and effort to fix is much more than you'll get from most other places. The extra jalapeño was rough though

Google
I liked it a lot... but I don't expect them to be around very long... they're closed before I get off work everyday. Basically it's only available on the weekends if you actually have a job. The amount of money they throw away closing 2 hours earlier than anyone else is probably insane

Yelp
Sushi Kuro has got it going on with such creative rolls & delicious potstickers too! Chef Taylor puts out some of the best & most creative rolls in Denver, imho... this little spot is located in the Zeppelin Station food hall but serves on real dishes so it doesn't feel like takeout! Joey & I shared the potstickers & spicy edamame, and we each got a different roll with some nigiri. I got the bottle rocket roll, which was a spicy tuna, cucumber, jalapeno & avocado, and it was creatively rolled in the tobiko instead of just topped. It was drizzled with a spicy mayo & sriracha... and wow it was so good. Joey got the volcano roll & it was one of the best rolls I've ever had! It was shrimp tempura & tuna with cucumber & then topped with tuna, and plated in a circle with a load of shredded crab in the middle, topped with fried onions & sriracha mayo. Wow!! We also got some ebi (shrimps), yellowtail & tuna nigiri. I love what Chef Taylor is doing.. I hope you make it here to grab some of the most creative & best rolls in RiNo!!

Yelp
Giant portions and excellent service for sure! Where the experience lacked a bit was my spicy ahi poke. The spicy sauce was on the verge of unbearable with repetitive bites. I'll certainly try the yuzu salmon next time and that may be the winner. The dining area is Zeppelin Station across from the Sushi Kuro counter. Just be careful because the air conditioning blows directly on some seats under the tvs. This place wasn't bad by any means and poke is highly subjective too. Some things I liked like the seaweed salad, cucumbers and avocado. On the other hand the edamame was unnecessary and did a bad job of taming the spicy mayo, spicy aioli or however you call it. Overall, it was decent but I will not revisit this dish again. The place has so much more to offer like rolls and sandos so surely a return trip is warranted!

Yelp
I want to share this so others with dietary restrictions or allergies can make an informed choice. Before visiting, I called to ask if they could accommodate a fish allergy (specifically swimming fish). I was told yes, they could. Unfortunately, once I arrived , I was informed that even the vegan and vegetarian options are prepped on the same surfaces and with the same tools as fish--including the cutting boards. So despite what I was told on the phone, there's no true separation, and cross-contact is unavoidable. This was disappointing, especially since I had been reassured otherwise. I will say that one of the staff members was very kind and apologetic, and I appreciate his honesty in explaining their prep process. But I want others to know: if you have a fish allergy or follow a vegan/vegetarian diet for health or ethical reasons, this may not be a safe choice for you. Hopefully, they can be more upfront with customers in the future about their kitchen practices. Transparency goes a long way when people's health is involved.

Yelp
Shame on me for not reviewing Sushi Kuro sooner. I've been eating Chef Taylor's food for years. The dude does not miss! Sushi, poke, ramen, sushi burritos, and katsu sammies if you're lucky. When they had another location on the other side of town, the sushi was a mainstay for me. Now I've been obsessing over the poke and ramen. Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl ($14.95) // spicy tuna served over rice with edamame, cucumber, mango, seaweed salad, and avocado. There's no reason for this poke bowl to be THIS GOOD but it is. Absolutely phenomenal flavors. The tuna actually has heat to it. I've never had a poke bowl with seaweed salad and it's a game changer. 11/10 no notes! Pork Belly Tonkatsu ($16.95) // pork belly, shrimp cake, marinated mushroom, bamboo, egg, negi. On cooler days, this is exactly what my body craves. I had never had Taylor's ramen before, and it's essentially a flavor bomb of rich broth and generous portions of tender pork belly. Every component thoughtful and in its right place. I was slurping the broth so loud you probably heard me from next door! I'm a big advocate of Denver's food hall scene and you're going to always be satisfied here. As I write this it's still under the moniker Zeppelin Station, but the name will be changing shortly with a new concept. To my knowledge, the food stalls like Sushi Kuro will remain, with the addition of new players shortly. If you want creative, healthy, and delicious food, you need to try Sushi Kuro ASAP!

Yelp
Banger spot - I am disappointed in myself for not leaving a review sooner! I have been here many, many times over the last few years and I can always count on it being fresh and DELISH! Chef Taylor is a gem of a human being and it's always a delight to chit chat with him. I have tasted lots of the menu and EVERYTHING is good! Never had a bad meal once. I would start with a sushi burrito (sumo is my fave), then pop by to try these Japanese sandos, next get the sushi tacos, and def don't forget the miso soup and spicy edamame!

Yelp
My husband and I had food from this very creative fusion restaurant a couple of weeks ago and it was all delicious. They are in a new food hall at the north end of RiNo on a short piece of 35th Street. The hall is in the ground floor of a several-story black building with the name Zeppelin Station at the top. There is a full bar (actually 2) in the hall and a coffee station. I recommend checking out the food hall in general and Sushi Kuro in particular. The owner is a very nice guy and talented chef. Check out the sushi burritos! We will go back.

Yelp
While at Zeppelin Station, I was drawn in by these unique sushi rolls. I had a hard time deciding what to get, but ended up going with the Maui Wowie Roll. It was delicious and a pretty big roll. I Ioved the unique ingredients like goat cheese that they use. There were so many other rolls I wanted to try so I would definitely come back to try more.

Yelp
Sip & Sushi night by Sushi Kuro at Freedom Street Social in Arvada was a ton of fun! Chef Taylor was very knowledgeable about teaching sushi, walking you through step-by-step to make sure you understood. She walks around to help each guest. Teaching was specific, informative, easy to pick up and learn. Made suggestions on where to purchase fish and ingredients if you wanted to make at home.

Yelp
Fun Fact: Sushi Kuro, located in Freedom Street Social, offers rolls, sushi sandwiches, and sushi burritos! This vendor put forth an eye-popping array of sushi rolls, including a new idea: the sushi sandwich! Freshness and flavor indicate great sushi, and this spot hit all the notes, including the expectation of an artistic presentation. The platter arrived quickly and with a warm smile from the head chef. I sat back and enjoyed every bite in this welcoming, bustling, yet relaxing, community food hall.

Yelp
I went to the location in Arvada only to be told that it had closed 8 months ago. The website still shows the Arvada location. Because I was getting the order for a sick relative who requested it, I drove over 30 minutes to the location in Denver. I informed the employee there who said he would let the owner know. To my chagrin, when I got home with the order, one item ordered was missing. I submitted a contact form because you cannot call them, with no response.

Yelp
Just ok. We have tried specials which include poke bowls and ramen as well as sushi rolls and I just don't feel like the quality is consistent. Today we got a few pieces of salmon sashimi with our takeout order that were white and not fresh. Every other time we get this it is good which is why we keep trying. I hope they can get their quality back up.

Annette L.

Yelp
I ordered the sumo Burrito. There is no mention of fish eggs on the board. I was severely disappointed when I got home. I also wish they didn't fry their pork buns but thats just chefs choice. My main complaint is just not listing all the main ingredients. Edit to add I will be going back just with more knowledge and will be asking questions. I shouldn't have to, though. Your ingredients should all be listen. But this place is yummy.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Really mediocre fare, maybe because they're running too many promotions at once and seem understaffed. Even at these competitive prices, I hope for more than a sliver of avocado in rolls in which avocado is one of two ingredients. Further, the tuna was overwhelmingly pulpy, metallic and fishy-tasting rather than firm and clean on the palate, which indicates either low-quality fish or poor preparation. We tried a variety of sushi and the pork ramen and we don't want to order here again.

Yelp
Love sushi Kuro! The sushi sandwich is the best. However, the burrito comes in a close second. Also, love the people who work there! Always kind and thoughtful!

Yelp
Thank you for the vegan options SK! Tasty options with the mango, cucumber and avocado rolls. Great delivery option. Looking forward to another special family night meal at Sushi Kuro!

Yelp
Fire. Best place in the food hall. Got a sushi burrito that was delicious and made very quickly. The mango and tuna one. Friendly customer service. Go here if you are in the food hall.

Yelp
Their poke bowls are really good I eat gluten free and they had options for me! I would definitely come back our food was made fast and the food court had great ambiance

Yelp
My new favorite spot! The tuna was phenomenal, and Victor is a master chef in the making!
