I went today with a friend after having decided against several other small restaurants -- and there are plenty -- on Regents Park Road. I'm so glad I decided on this place, because I would wholeheartedly recommend Oka to anyone else who likes Japanese food.
The standout dish for me was actually not my main dish, the bulgogie beef -- which, don't get me wrong, was still great! -- but, in fact, my starter, the beef teppanyaki, which was so savory that my dining companion and I wished we could order two -- per person! I swear, I would go back for that alone! (The waiter even said that that dish is very popular. I totally see why.)
My friend had the squid and two different plates of sushi (whose names I can't remember, but I think one was eel?) She had nothing but good things to say about each.
The service was VERY good, and our waiter was patient, engaging, and friendly. I only wish I had caught his name so I could recommend him personally!
The atmosphere is nice, too -- it's a small café with exposed brick and mood lighting.
All in all, this was a lovely experience, and I'm surprised it isn't better reviewed on here. We had an excellent time!
