OKA Restaurant Primrose Hill

My first visit to this sushi restaurant was a wonderful experience. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared, and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making the whole evening very enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We were blown away by how good the food was! We originally planned on having sushi, but since it was so cold outside, we decided to order hot main dishes instead. We chose the beef bulgogi, kung pao chicken, and the special ho fun noodles. Every dish far exceeded our expectations, they were incredibly flavorful and filling. The service was fantastic as well, our waitress was very welcoming and patient, taking the time to explain the menu in detail. We will come back for sure!

I’ve been ordering food from this place almost every month for a long time, but the last experience completely killed it for me. Our last order arrived with the miso soup spilled all over the bag. We called to report it and were met by an extremely rude person who immediately said he didn’t believe it happened. We were asked to provide proof photos via WhatsApp, which we did — clearly showing the spilled soup and the mess it caused. After chasing them for days about a refund, we were finally told that based on the photos, nothing was wrong and that the soup must have spilled in our house, not during delivery. In other words, they implied we were lying. This is absolutely unacceptable. When you hire incompetent and rude staff, this is exactly how you destroy a business — by insulting loyal customers instead of taking responsibility. After this attitude and the way we were treated, we will never order from this place again. Deeply disappointed and genuinely offended.

The food was great - very good price quality. Highly recommend the salmon bites, they’re my absolutely favourite. The restaurant was small but cosy and Liz’ service was excellent.

The sushi was delicious especially the Salmon Truffle and sashimi. Friendly and helpfull staff, thank you Tareq.

Food was very nice. Especially the Korean fried Cauliflower. The Kung pao chicken was very tasty as well. They have a lunch menu for 19,75£ per person, where you can get a starter and a main. The ramen was good, but could have had a stronger taste and more noodles. The waiter was very nice.

We were served by Darpan who was lovely. Service was fast and everyone took good care of us. Nice selection of food, sushi was delicious. The restaurant is small but great great ambiance. We will be back for sure!

Ate here with a family of 5 and the experience was superb. We ordered a good number of appetizers, sushi, and a few other mains which tasted excellent - no complaints. Servers were pleasant. We were seated inside which was a bit hot given it was a warm day but they had a fan blowing which provided some relief. I recommend outdoor seating on a hot evening. I would go here again.

Came by here for lunch, they have some good lunch specials here and food was good. Service was also attentive. Prices were also decent.

Best sushi I ever had hands down. The fish is made super fresh, quick, and the service is amazing. It's a little store on the corner of a beautiful street with cute music playing making it a perfect date spot. Definitely visit!

We were seriously blown away by the rolls we had here. The spider roll and red dragon roll. HELLOOOO WHAT IS THIS?! It's good sushi. Yum.

A little surprised by the other reviewers, although am guessing that they want to keep this small establishment a secret that remains "on top of the hill". The ultimate meaning of Oka. I went to this restaurant as a further celebratory week of getting older again. I was surprised at the great value for money, especially in Primrose Hill. The food was above average with some nice variations on the . Long dishes were used for and although this did not provide a specific look that one expects it managed to adjourn some grandeur to the meal. They unfortunately did not have any fatty sashimi, although the sashimi was ample and tasty. I was unable to eat the chocolate dessert as it was sickly sweet like a cookie from tescos. Although this did not stop my friend from devouring it. On top of this a rather reasonably priced bottle of riesling, which was refreshing. Although I would have preferred a carat of saki. They unfortunately didn't provide me with the saki list and I therefore forgot about it. Oh well, next time I will try and recall my poison of choice. Other than that, as this restaurant is so small, I hope noone is reading my review. X

I went today with a friend after having decided against several other small restaurants -- and there are plenty -- on Regents Park Road. I'm so glad I decided on this place, because I would wholeheartedly recommend Oka to anyone else who likes Japanese food. The standout dish for me was actually not my main dish, the bulgogie beef -- which, don't get me wrong, was still great! -- but, in fact, my starter, the beef teppanyaki, which was so savory that my dining companion and I wished we could order two -- per person! I swear, I would go back for that alone! (The waiter even said that that dish is very popular. I totally see why.) My friend had the squid and two different plates of sushi (whose names I can't remember, but I think one was eel?) She had nothing but good things to say about each. The service was VERY good, and our waiter was patient, engaging, and friendly. I only wish I had caught his name so I could recommend him personally! The atmosphere is nice, too -- it's a small café with exposed brick and mood lighting. All in all, this was a lovely experience, and I'm surprised it isn't better reviewed on here. We had an excellent time!

New Asian restaurant in primrose hill is a pleasant surprise. Walking by here on a Saturday afternoon, gloomy rainy I just wanted a snack. Looking at the menu, the price is definitely a pleasant surprise. 10.50 for a set lunch with appetizer, main and tea is a good deal. There are 3 choices for each. I picked chili edamame and miso kimchi ramen. Chili edamame is huge in quantity. It could have been a meal on its own for lunch anyway. Upon tasting the edamame, I am thoroughly disappointed. Way overcooked and poorly seasoned :( ugh. I hardly touched the edamame and requested for the seabass tempura miso kimchi ramen. The seabass was fresh and crispy. One point! Unfortunately, the soup base, noodles were just sub par. Way too thick and covered up all of the freshness of the seabass. What a huge hummer!! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Won't be back for a meal though.

This place was great. Not your typical sushi combinations but well worth it. The apps were fantastic, we would go back. It is a small place so on a busy night to will need a reservation.

There seems to be an ever increasing amount of Japanese restaurants in NW1, which is great for me, as I love their cusine. Popped in Oka on a sunday evening and easily managed to get a seat, which apparently isnt normal. The restaurant is very small catering for about 20 people. Very neutral decor but not badly done. The service staff looked visibly stressed, which as the restaurant was only half full seemed a bit amiss..... orders were taken and it was explained that they had been busy so a few things weren't available, we went for a sushi starter and then a seperate main each, I had terriaki chicken and my partner had a beef dish (name I cant remember! ?) The evening took a bit of a slump from here! The starter.... sushi! Took an hour to come out, and we had to ask twice (remember there are only about three groups of people in the whole restaurant) and again the same for the mains. Luckily the food was actually pretty good! The sushi was a generous portion for £12 eaisly satisfying 2 people and the fish tasted fresh some interesting fusion tastes. My chicken was ok, had beter but wouldn't complain. The beef of which I managed to steal a few bites was really good!!! (Im sure its the only beef dish on the mains menu?) The overall bill was reasonable, although bearing in mind the wait I probably would have removed the service charge. Couple weeks later we ordered the take away, food arrived on time and was as good as the restaurant! It would appear the restaurant suffers due to the high volume of take away orders.

This whole food court blew us away. I'm not sure if we missed it on our last visit to London a few years ago or if it is new. Anyway, we were certainly playing the tourist part when we arrived at the food court. We had our phones out checking Yelp for some help in making a dinner choice. All of the restaurants in the court got good reviews but we were leaning towards some Japanese food this night. Good choice! We did not have reservations which would be a good bet a little later in the evening. So, we were told to come on in if we were OK with giving up our table in 90 minutes. No problem, we did not expect to need that much time. Anyway, the service and the food were excellent. We agreed we would put this on our places to try on our next visit to London. It was mostly local folks and is definitely not a tourist trap.

Set lunch at 10.50 with 2 courses and tea is great value. Service was very good too. Unfortunately the food did not match up. I was served tempura sea bass although the menu clearly said it would be pan fried. The urimaki had much to be desired, and the miso ramen wasnt great either. Flavour and seasoning could do with improvement throughout. The place has a nice feel to it, but I doubt i would go back for the lunch.

This is an excellent little sushi restaurant on Primrose hill. The setting is cozy and stylish, and intimate. The staff is friendly. The sushi is fresh and generous (in terms of fish content in the rolls) and very good value for money. I had the miso kimchee soup and was blown away by the freshness. An unexpected bonus was a kids menu. I had brought my 6 and three year old to this charming restaurant, and far from pandemonium that I had feared, everyone was content to simply revel in their meals.

Really lovely healthy food. Good ingredients prepared in a simple and very appetizing manner. A very well run establishment. Great for takeaway.

I don't eat a lot of different types of fish/sushi. I am a spicy tuna or prawn kind of guy so I can't speak to the more exotic items on the menu but what I order.. I love. It's a small place (maybe 10 tables) but the service is extremely friendly and they have items besides sushi that are equally tasty. They always find a spot for us when we rock up last minute with our kids in tow. *update* turns out our lovely children left their purse that contained among other important items an almost new itouch. After scouring the house we thought we would check Oka. As soon as we walked in they greeted us and told us they had all of the items. Something that speaks more about the people than the menu.

The grilled miso salmon was some of the best cooked salmon I have ever had. The sashimi was fresh and the eel was tasty. Service wasn't phenomenal at first but a woman stepped into the place of our original server and did an excellent job. The chocolate chip cookie dough bake was delicious too, so save room! Also, highly suggest making reservations.

We had an early dinner here a few days ago and found the quality and price to be very very good. The dishes were an interesting and flavorful mix of Japanese sushi coupled with salads and heartier dishes. The service was friendly and the environment welcoming. I'd highly recommend this place if you're in the area or looking to get away from the busier parts of town especially on a good day when you can walk through Primrose Hill.

SO delicious! Dragon roll is the best and the service is always fast and friendly. I have told everyone about this place and went to the Carnaby Street branch for some cocktails... equally as good. Highly recommend sharing a few plates and so reasonable!

I'm also surprised this restaurant isn't rated higher. Not many tables but the take away is also excellent and value-for-money is great for this area. I will say that if you don't like avocado in your sushi, you're in trouble ;-)
