I went on a Sunday night and was seated immediately near the bar. I thought about doing the boba tea or sake for my drink, but settled for the Ramune melon soft drink since it was reasonably priced for 3.50. My server helped me open the drink and it had a good melon flavor, but it was artificially flavored and had high fructose corn syrup. I did the Tonkotsu Shio ramen for my soup. It came at a reasonable time and had a nice whiff of the pork flavor when it arrived. However, the broth could have been more flavorful, even with the black garlic that I ordered. However, the toppings were good, especially the bamboo shoots, seaweed, and corn. The egg was really good as well, and the pork was acceptable. The fish cake (kamaboko) was a nice addition as well. The noodles felt like instant noodles. Just the right amount of potions, but I didn't finish the broth since it was lacking flavor. However, I was given a complimentary chicken gyoza from what looked to be a chef or owner. There was a nice amount of flavorful minced chicken inside the fried pastry. It was a nice appetizer overall.
The service was good, but my female server could have been a bit more cheerful. She wasn't rude, but she seemed a bit irritated with some questions I had. She was mostly friendly though and thanked me for coming afterwards. The chef/owner was more cheerful. The atmosphere was small and casual. It first looked like a counter service restaurant with a small amount of tables, but I was happy to see this too have full table service. I believe the bar area was where the chef made the soups. The music seemed to be boring Japanese pop music, and it was playing quietly such that the TV and video game was more audible. It's more of a neighborhood restaurant atmosphere.
While I find this restaurant not as amazing as Domu or Jinya, it is still a good ramen shop in the Metrowest area. It is close to the Walmart complex, so it can be a good place to enjoy boba tea as well after shopping. While this would not be my first choice for ramen, I will still visit when I want some ramen soup while being close to my parents house.
