Came here for dinner with friends and family. Everyone ordered their own dishes. Over all review is decent I would say 3.5 for the current price point and the quality. The sashimi is fresh, and the udons and steak teriyaki are great! But let me warn you first, the seafood teriyaki stated it has salmon, shrimps and scallops. Salmon was decent portion and 4 shrimps and half slice of the scallops, which was 1 thin piece of scallop. That was the reason for 3.5 stars. Or else it would have been a decent 4, for the quality, services and food portion.

Google
The service was great but the grill had burn stains on it. We tried to eat from new grill but it wouldn’t heat up quick enough. The fried rice had a weird taste to it; maybe from the grill residue, utensils or food quality. The meat lacked salt and flavor without the sauces being added to them. I recommend adding yum yum sauce to the fried rice and ginger sauce to the meat. The saki and soju were great and the chef was generous with his portions. The playlist was fun to sing along to. I recommend this place for a playful, drunken night with friends!

Google
I stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the shrimp tempura, pork katzu, and sushi. The service was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. The inside is a nice atmosphere as well. I would definitely return.

Google
The service was amazing. My friends and I had a great time and the food was excellent. The portions were big and they were great about clearing plates and refilling drinks. Even gave us a free round of sake shots. Would highly recommend okinii

Google
The best sushi i’ve ever had! I got the “Tropical” roll with kani salad and sat at the bar where the sushi chef gave me a sashimi/seaweed salad on the house! The waitress was also very kind and attentive! Definitely worth a try, I’m from Florida but my boyfriend said this is a MUST TRY spot while i’m here and i'm glad i did! Definitely will again!

Google
Excellent sushi, mostly omakase but they will hook you up if that doesn't work. There are multiple locations in New York and others are larger. Took a while to get seated. No reservations

Justin Marino

Google
Solid table and bar service! Everything is fresh and arrives quickly!

Google
Food was a little pricey for the amount. Went in with a party of 10, and we got 2 party platters. Those party platters were probably good enough for a group of 5 or 4. We only got sushi, and it wasn't bad! It was pretty good, and no one got sick, so I guess I would call it pretty good. The atmosphere was warm and the staff were so friendly and helped with a cake as well! Overall, it was a good experience and I'd go again.

Yelp
Great reasonable and tasty. Nice people working and food was quick and delicious. Nice to find this gem in a sea of overhyped places.

Yelp
A nice little sushi bar in NoHo with great service and exceptional sushi quality. The hand rolls were definitely the standout and well worth it!

Varsha T.

Yelp
pretty good hibachi, not the best ive had but it was solid for the price. i tried the chicken hibachi which came with miso soup. the soup was standard but i wouldve preferred more tofu. the hibachi was a good size, and included chicken, oranges, and veggies. i paid an extra $5 for fried rice. the rice was just alright, and the veggies overall didn't taste the freshest. service was good. the place is quite cute inside with adorable dish ware. also no wait time for 2, and there was lots of seating inside. to note, the hibachi chef side experience is only available at dinner time which i was not aware of beforehand.

Yelp
Walked in here by myself after a happy hour event! I needed food and quickly! I was seated immediately by the hostess, who was so friendly and sweet. Right away a server came by to take my order, after a quick glance at the menu I knew what I needed, wings and my fav Salmon rolls. Within 10 minutes I had my drink and wings to start. The wings were crispy and seasoned perfectly. I tried to eat them as modestly as possible but I couldnt help myself; they were really good. The salmon roll was fresh and filling! Since I was by myself the staff would stop by and chat with me for a little bit which was super sweet. All in all I was there for 30minutes total. As a native new yorker, i love when i can get in and out of a place within 30 minutes and feel like i had a 1-2hr experience. I will definitely go back!

Yelp
Love this spot in WV! Perfect to swing by for lunch or dinner. The staff are great and they present their sashimi plates beautifully. Been here a couple times now and will for sure keep coming back! I love to keep places in my back pocket that you can always count on if other plans go awry and this is being added to that list!

Yelp
Stopped in for a lunch with a colleague and wasn't disappointed. At the back of the restaurant, there's a hibachi station and the chef seemed to have the crowd entertained when I visited. The food we ordered was pretty typical and didn't really wow us but the pricing was decent and it did come with free sake shot at the end of our meal.

Christy L.

Yelp
Food very freshly Staff a bit slow ... Place is okay .. seating very uncomfortable too small . Bathroom are decent .

Alana K.

Yelp
I came here with my dad for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant is pretty big, which standard tables in the front section and hibachi grills in the back. I had the sashimi lunch special, which came with five different types of fish and some rice on the side. I thought it tasted fresh and was a nice selection. We also ordered uni sushi (not the freshest), toro, and an eel avocado roll (mostly avocado, not very much eel). Definitely not a bad sushi spot, and they have a ton of lunch specials.

Marina S.

Yelp
Great ambiance, good sushi, wonderful service. When we were ready to go, we even received a complimentary shot of sake!

Leah M.

Yelp
Went at 8pm on a Friday. Not too busy, we were seated easily. Very quick service and friendly! We shared the scallion pancakes and dumplings. The scallion pancakes in particular were super flaky and delicious! I ordered the salmon avocado roll as well as two pieces of salmon nigiri. Both were very fresh, and prices were affordable for the area. Cute casual place for a sushi dinner, would definitely come back!

Yelp
Made an afternoon reservation on a Sunday for my little guy's birthday... arrived early and found that the reservation wasn't necessary and oddly they didn't allow me to specify we wanted the hibachi grill specifically. They took us to regular seating upon arrival and we had to ask if we could do hibachi (the reason we were there). The space is a good size and standard decorations for such a place. It was a little cluttered and not exactly spic-and-span but they are making things work in that regard. Seriously strange was the amount of employees just kinda chilling, meaning more than one literally lying down in the booths and sleeping while people dined. It was hard to get over while we attempted to enjoy our celebration nearby. Perhaps most importantly to me was that the staff was not inclined to make us feel welcome or look after us in any way. The lady working the front was kind but she didn't serve us (except when our own server stopped showing up). No one smiled or greeted us, and our own server seemed like she hated us being there. Our server was not accommodating, not helpful, not pleasant. She didn't want to work around our one person's dietary restrictions, didn't offer the listed options but instead assumed our choices. She didn't offer us sake. She didn't acknowledge when we told her it was our 7-year old's birthday. She alone almost single-handedly ruined our birthday experience, and we almost walked out while she was taking the order. And while we almost didn't see her most of the meal, she lingered around our table when she was waiting for the tip. That is no exaggeration. The bright spot was our hibachi chef. He was awesome - very attentive and accommodating. He put on a great show, catered toward our birthday boy, and did his best to work around the dietary restriction. He made a balloon hat for the birthday boy and made him feel special. Everything he did was with us in mind and he deserves to be recognized. He made it (almost) worthwhile and the only reason they got two stars. It was only because of him that we tipped a normal amount, as we assumed they shared it. The food was pretty standard - we had four hibachi meals (one with special dietary needs) - and the prices were a bit high but such is life in West Village. Portions were pretty typical also in regard to protein, while the rice was a bit skimpy (odd considering it is the cheapest). You pay $6 extra for fried rice over the advertised white rice. The food was fine, at best, but the chef's performance made it worthy. Overall, certainly not a spot I will visit again, if nothing else because of the server. I wish I could say differently but that is not the case.

Yelp
I got sick after eating here. The presentation of the food was great. The service was good. Everything tasted good until I got home shortly after with stomach cramps and the runs. I found myself at this restaurant after looking for a local place to eat on Yelp, and by the reviews it seemed like it was going to be good. It wasn't busy for a Friday evening. We were seated immediately, and the staff was quite friendly. We ordered the Sushi Pizza and 3 Sushi rolls. I believe the culprit was the Sushi Pizza. I was the only one who had the sushi pizza in my group. And, I was the only one who got sick. The Sushi Pizza was also my least favorite of everything we ordered. I expected it to be spicy tuna on top of crispy rice, but instead I got Spicy Tuna on top of a flour tortilla. I eat sushi often and never had this reaction. All of the other rolls we ordered were tempura rolls. The Sushi Pizza was the only Raw Tuna Entree ordered. Something was definitely off with the Spicy Tuna. I felt terrible afterwards. I wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, I cant vouge for the freshness of the food.

Yelp
Super cute and intimate spot! Wide variety on the menu and the service was kind and attentive!

Yelp
Food: it's always a little hard for me to judge sushi dish, but me and friends finished the food with a happy face Service: we came here on a rainy Monday night. It was very quiet, so It kinda feel like we have the waiter for ourselves

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Good! Not to die for but still good and I think it's a good place to come for some simple Japanese food. The ramen was good, I enjoyed it and my friend liked her udon noodles. We were in the mood for noodles and soup so we didn't try their sushi, but walking past it, it looked good! We shared the crispy tuna appetizer which I probably wouldn't get again but it wasn't bad. Will come Back!

Miguel S.

Yelp
Was looking for a sushi spot around this area and landed here at Okinii. They were about to close but they let us in anyways which was great since I told them it was gonna be a quick visit. Had the need to have some sushi and this place was a hit. The sushi didn't disappoint great taste and decent portion. I had the spicy tuna while my daughter had the California roll. We were in and out within 20 minutes which of course helped them be on time for them to close. I would totally recommend they for a longer visit to try other things again.

Yelp
This was a happy mistake. We were supposed to go a different restaurant but my friend put in the wrong address. No problem, we still had a good experience. I got the veggie ramen, shrimp tempura and shrimp tempura roll. I couldn't finish the ramen since it was too salty but the roll was delicious and the tempura was great. The sake was great. My friend got a little tipsy haha. One of the waiters were really nice and gave us free shots on the house. Service was good, food was decent. I had a good experience.

Dante A.

Yelp
Friendly service, good food, reasonable prices, good veggie options, and able to accommodate large parties.

Emma M.

Yelp
I took my parents here for Valentine's Day and their birthday's in a combined gift. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed my time here. I will always vouch for the Lady Gaga sushi roll and not just because I'm a fan. If you are looking for good-quality sushi. No, not just good, great-quality sushi, you have come to the right place. There are some things that this restaurant could do a lot better regarding some of the things I mentioned before, but I really enjoy coming here because of the price, the options, the ingredients, and the quality. I can't emphasize the quality part. You would be crazy not to come here and try the sushi. In fact, try everything.

Karen Z.

Yelp
Overall ok place but it could be quite loud and disturbing if there is a large group at the hibachi table. Went on a Saturday night, all nearby Japanese restaurants are out of reservations, so we (a group of 4) decided to come here. Ordered the sushi boat and some side dishes. The sushi boat was very fancy! Good for instagram. Fish also tastes relatively fresh. The negative part is that there was a large party at the hibachi table, who constantly cheered and yelled. I understand it's natural for hibachi but with no separation with regular tables it's highly disturbing and we felt like we could not have a good conversation because of it.

Nandana N.

Yelp
Didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Lovely service, great food, reasonable prices for the location and nyc prices. Cute spot for dates. We got the beef Negi lmaoo, takoyaki, Lady Gaga roll and Chicken teriyaki. Everything was delicious! Service was super nice and efficient. Can't wait to go back and try their sashimi platter. Shoutout to the lovely wait staff.

Yelp
I stop by here from time to time when I am in the neighborhood. A dependable spot, for sure. I have recently discovered a hidden gem in their menu: the Dragon Ball. It's like getting a sushi ice cream scoop before the main meal, like dessert before the entree. I highly recommend it & this place!

Monika T.

Yelp
Hands down the best sushi spot in the city. I ordered from them today from Grubhub and the driver dropped my order off at the wrong location and refused to come and get it. The restaurant was kind enough to remake my order and get it to me quickly, along with writing an apology on the receipt and compensated me with a soda even though it wasn't their fault. They have it all! The great food, kind staff, and perfect service. Highly recommend this place! Thank you for turning the experience around for me :)

Jessica R.

Yelp
The restaurant is a little dark and a bit quiet, but so worth it. We came here twice to get the ramen since it was our favorite after trying it at 3 other spots. Service was attentive and helpful.

Amar V.

Yelp
Steve is my king - absolutely worth going for hibachi. Very fun, friendly, and delicious. 5 stars!

Hannah E.

Yelp
Great sushi, cute place! A little loud went here on a date. The rolls are small which is a good portion size! Very simple and flavorful and they also had GF soy sauce! Pretty cheap too!

Ali I.

Yelp
I've been getting sushi from here since I moved to NYC, the quality and their rolls are fantastic. It's more on the quiet side and is hardly ever full but that is a plus for me. they have a good selection of sakes and the servers are attentive

Donna J.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday last night and the service and food were amazing. Everything was super delicious and the staff was so nice to us! Thank you again to the staff who took care of us!

Sour C.

Yelp
I ordered the filet mignon hibachi with fried rice. The food was good, no complain there. But the checkout process left a bad taste. They bring a POS machine right to your table and stand right next to you as you choose a pre-set tip option (minimum 18%), which feels uncomfortable and a bit pushy. Plus, the tax is included in the subtotal, meaning you're essentially tipping on the tax as well. This feels like a bit of a scam and really takes away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Not sure I'd return given this experience.

Brianna P.

Yelp
This hole in the wall was so cozy and perfect for date night! There's a big hibachi table at the back, where guys night out was in full swing. The were also playing good music! So it can be whatever vibe you make it. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef gave us complimentary salmon belly! My new favorite sushi spot in the city. The service was great, the sushi very fresh and full of flavor.

Rob S.

Yelp
Wonderful meal with one of the most extensive menus I've seen in a long time. Will definitely be going back soon.

Emi B.

Yelp
Pretty satisfying rolls. New York - it's a carbless sashimi roll, just exactly what I need King of the Sea - overall pretty good but the king crab was tiny and just ok. Other ingredient compliment it though.

Kafilat Y.

Yelp
Was in the area kraving sushi and stumbled upon Okinii. Walking in was impressed by their outdoor and indoor seating options, the spot is pretty big and service was really fast. I enjoyed the sushi options they offered as well as the variety of how to prepare the foods - with rice, cucumber or soy - based on dietary preferences. Don't really see that often so was impressed.

Jenny Z.

Yelp
if yelp had half stars, then i would give okinii 3.5 stars. the restaurant was quite empty, considering my friends and i went on a friday night. we got the takoyaki and a side of hibachi steak to share. since i am not the biggest fan of takoyaki in general, i would describe it as just okay. however, we asked for the steak to be cooked medium, but it was more well-done. we also thought it was not worth $12, but looking at the appetizer prices again, it seems fitting. for my main dishes, i went for the spicy miso ramen and spicy salmon hand roll. as a disclaimer, i've had spicy miso ramen elsewhere many times, but this one tasted more like tom yum soup than spicy miso. it was a gloomy day, and i was looking for some warm noodle soup, so needless to say, i was pretty disappointed. also, if my memory serves me correctly, i ordered a hand roll but got regular rolls instead. it must have been a careless mistake, or the waitress did not hear me correctly. the sushi rice was hard, so i was disappointed yet again. my final verdict is if you are looking for a restaurant with a vast menu that has a variety of japanese food from ramen and sushi to hibachi, then this might be worth a try. however if you are looking for restaurants that specialize in ramen or sushi, then i would look elsewhere.

Randy S.

Yelp
Great food and service I loved that they have brown rice as an option :) location is great as well.

Liz S.

Yelp
Came here after work on a Monday during prime dinner time and it was pretty empty which makes it a good place for a last minute dinner with a large group. There's sushi and cooked hibachi entrees if there's anyone in your party that doesn't eat sushi. There are some tables with hibachi grills if you want to see the "show" kind of thing but we didn't do that. Service was quick and attentive. Would come back again!

Holly M.

Yelp
This place is fantastic!!! For the quality of food you could just as well be in a high end sushi place uptown for 3x the cost. They use fresh ingredients and everything always tastes great. The LADY GAGA roll is simply amazing!! All their special rolls are.

Super B.

Yelp
went solely for the hibahi. really good funny hibachi chef. food was good/fine/bland/generic. but chef made it worth the visit.

Mirah P.

Yelp
Amazing staff, they care about their customers. They check on you to make sure everything is alright. This restaurant is in a great area next to Washington square park. Me and my friends come here a lot and never have had a bad time. The inside is cozy and chill, you can tell they don't want to just sit you down and rush you out! And the food!!! The food is amazing, please go try it for yourself

Joanna L.

Yelp
We got 10 rolls split between 3 people and we couldn't finish it . Definitely worth the price and it satisfied our sushi cravings as well !!!

Abby H.

Yelp
I came around 3:45 on a Wednesday so obviously it was super slow, but the service was great and the sushi was amazing. I think if they added crunch to the Thompson Roll, they'd have ambrosia on their hands. Also, the music is very 2010s hits which I happen to love when I'm at a restaurant. Great experience!

Jenny Z.

Yelp
Sashimi was not worth it. They use crab sticks as part of the sashimi set. Did not taste very fresh but still edible. Service was excellent. The decor and presentation of the food were also aesthetically pleasing!

Madison W.

Yelp
Eh... this place was alright. My dad and I visit NYC a few times a year to do our two favorite things- eat good food and shop. I've been set on finding a good Japanese restaurant so we decided to come here for dinner. The food was ok, nothing special. But, I don't come to NYC to have food that's "ok". I will say I have high expectations but the service was great at least. This will not be a restaurant we will be returning to in the future but it was satisfying for the time being.

Beril E.

Yelp
Pretty awful experience. Came here because every other place was full on a Friday night. After perusing the takeout menu converted into a restaurant menu and viewing the multiple empty seats, I knew this dinner was not going to turn out well. I was not mistaken. We ordered the unagi don and the spicy roll combo. The freshwater eel was not long and wide like I'm used to. Instead, small pieces of unagi were placed on top of rice, failing to give me the satisfaction I would normally get from my fork separating a thick buttery fish. The cucumber on the unagi don plate was extremely bitter and the avocado and seaweed were added to just fill up the plate. The spicy roll combo, however, was worse. The salmon and tuna didn't have any flavor, but they weren't as bad as the spicy yellowtail roll, which straight up tasted foul. The fish tasted so spoiled that we couldn't have more than one piece of the roll. When we informed our server that the yellowtail did not taste fresh, he indicated that he asked the kitchen to ensure it is and told us he would give us a $5 discount because we left half of our meal on the plate. Not that we would have expected to be compensated for that dish, but getting $5 taken off from our bill like it was some promotion looked silly to me. The prices are reasonable and almost cheap in the West 4th area. I had mixed feelings about the customer service due to our experience, but at least the servers did bring the dishes and the check quickly. Sushi, though, needs some work. I won't be coming back.

Yuhan L.

Yelp
Asians, please don't come here. This is an American Japanese place. When I walked in there were 0 Asian faces and I knew it's gonna be bad. The food is cheaper than average Japanese restaurants, but it's not authentic at all

gary g.

Yelp
The food was fresh, well presented and generous. The wait staff was pleasantly attentive but the room is dated. I would eat there again

Nick G.

Yelp
First Timer!! I don't know where to start... The Service is AMAZING!! Or waitress (Sherling) is the real deal! So nice and friendly!! She made conversation with us and seemed to genuinely care about Us! I have lived in NYC for 3 years and have yet to have BETTER SERVICE!! We will return and bring our friends because the service is Amazing!!!! everyone we came in contact with was very nice!! NEXT, the food. We ordered to 2 Bento Boxes.. One was Shrimp Tempura and the other was Chicken Teriyaki.. Both of the Boxes were filling and Huge! Best Value for 10.95!!! (I have included pictures) The food was really good!! honestly have no complaints and can't think of a better experience in NYC for Asian cuisine! FINALLY, Thank you again to the Staff & Sherling for treating us like family and providing a great lunch experience!! We will return!! -Nick & Zoey

Marie K.

Yelp
I loved it here! I dined in to have lunch. the plating was so pretty i had to take a few photos. the waitstaff was very attentive and knew just to refill my tea when it was gone. this location is def going into my frequented spots in the future!

Casey W.

Yelp
There is not a bad thing to say about this place. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The presentation was beautiful. And the service was by far the best I've ever had anywhere else. This place clearly cares about giving a good experience. Not only with top quality food, but top quality service. Next time I'm in NYC. I'm coming back.
