Yelp
Oko Kitchen, though slightly cramped and drafty due to seating being so close to the door (which left blustery cold air in the dining area), was a very solid culinary experience.
For appetizers, we ordered Two Spicy Wagyu Crispies ($9 each), which were a bite of pure artistry. Tender, succulent beef, with crispy potato tempura and a raw quail egg yolk nestled on top, adding a layer of rich creaminess to the heat. We also went for the Duck and Foie Gras Gyoza ($18 for four pieces), which was perfection as well. They were perfectly crisp, and browned beautifully, with the perfect thickness of the dough and tender soft filling.
For entrees, we ordered the Wagyu Hangar Steak ($35), Crab Fried Rice ($28), and another appetizer, Sticky Ribs ($24). The hangar steak was tender, but slightly undercooked (it arrived rare instead of medium rare) and was lacking seasoning. The potato garnish also lacked some salt, but the carrots it was served with were buttery and satisfying. The Crab Fried Rice was richly flavored and the quail eggs on top were a nice touch. The sticky ribs were nailed perfectly in cook and in appearance, with the meat tender and practically falling off the bone, though the level of salt was a tad overpowering.
Overall, despite mild imperfections, we would recommend Oko Kitchen enthusiastically and would return without hesitation.
