15 Must-Try Astral Margaritas in Orange County | Eater

"Ola Mexican Kitchen serves bold, Baja-style flavors with some of the best ocean views in town. The space is contemporary yet cozy, with wooden accents and ocean-facing windows that make it a prime spot for a laid-back meal. The cucumber jalapeño margarita, made with Astral Blanco, delivers a bright citrus kick with just the right amount of heat. Grab a window seat for sunset, or opt for a booth for an easygoing evening." - McConnell Quinn

Come for the view and drinks, stay cautious with the food and service. Beautiful oceanfront location and tasty drinks, but service was slow and the food quality didn’t match the price. We went for a birthday on a Friday night and ended up waiting a long time for undercooked enchiladas. It was also very loud, with a big group next to us, and we felt overlooked as customers. If you go, enjoy the drinks and view, but order selectively.

The atmosphere was great with perfect views of the Pacific! Wait staff were fantastic and extremely friendly! The chips and salsa were outstanding!! I love the seasoning they put on their chips. My grilled chicken tacos were ok, nothing fantastic. The tortillas were rather soggy and the Margaritas were extremely strong. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.

Ola Mexican Kitchen is a modern Mexican restaurant blending traditional flavors with a creative twist. Their handmade tacos, burritos, and guac are top-notch—and everyone says the margaritas are a must. (Thanks to the time difference, I missed out on the drinks… rookie mistake! 🍹😆)

My wife and I sat out on the patio last night and I can’t remember the name of our waiter, but he and the Bartender were absolutely amazing. Service was some of the best that I have had anywhere. Drinks were great and fast. Food is always great, atmosphere is always great as as well as you have a great view of the Pacific Ocean. But I really just wanted to highlight that our server and the bartender last night were as good as it gets. We visited 11-24-25 at around 7:30pm. Thanks for a great experience!

Google
Excellent atmosphere, beautiful views. Young blonde hostess was very friendly and outgoing, our waitress Delanie was very friendly and helpful, even the guy who brought our drinks (very good old fashioned) was extra nice and outgoing. Food was excellent. Ribeye fajitas amazing, carnitas best I've had, chips excellent, guacamole very good. Don't skip this place, rare to hit on all cylinders like this place does.

We ate here today. The food was 100% can food. The taste was horrible. Not authentic Mexican food at all! The service was great and the view to the beach fabulous. My husband & I will never go here unless it’s to have a drink on the patio and enjoy the view.

Google
Love Ola's. Pricey Mexican food but super yummy. Great Happy Hour and you get alot for a good price. Sit close to the windows for a beautiful ocean view but even a bit inside the ocean is still visible. There is a patio as well.

Google
Camer here on the 4th of July and was amazed we got seated immediately! Kind of rare! We had the chefs guacamole, carne asada, Baja fish, lobster, and pork belly tacos! I’m pretty basic sometimes so my favorites were the asada and fish while my lady really like the other 3 more. The gauc was very good as well. I’ll definitely be back! And don’t forget about the view! We were able to watch the sunset as we dined and see people starting their fireworks outside from our table. Great food and experience! Parking on the 4th is a different story though (mostly trying to leave) so plan accordingly for that. I’m sure normal, non holidays it’s easy to get in and out though

Yelp
As soon as we sat down, they brought us chips and salsa. The chips were made in house so they were super warm and fresh. We ordered the Shrimp Ceviche and had them with the chips that were first provided to us. They were so good...I couldn't stop eating.... For my main dish, I ordered two tacos - Baja Fish and Carne Asada. I definitely preferred the Baja Fish as the fish was super soft and the sauce paired perfectly with it. The Carne Asada was also really good as it was tender and flavorful. Our waiter was nice and friendly. He checked up on us often, but not to the point where it's annoying. We went at night, and the ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Couldn't see much of the beach view outside since it was dark, but it's a very nice date spot.

Yelp
Birthday weekend and I chose to come to Ola for an early dinner and incredible view. The server made our experience even better than the last time dining here. We chose an inside table by the window and the server was right on top of bringing water and fresh chips and salsa to the table. Hubby started with beer and I ordered my fav- the raspberry mojito- it was so good that I had 2! This visit I asked the server for her recommendations and we ordered her favs: the chicken enchiladas and 2 tacos, one with chicken and the other was the Smokey pulled pork with a delightful roasted sweet pineapple habanero salsa. We intended to split but we filled up on the chips and guacamole so we couldn't finish the 3 enchiladas. The portions provide a very generous protein hit and the flavor of the enchiladas with the fresh house-made corn tortilla and the green and red sauce will fill my dreams tonight. So good! The tacos both had a great flavor-profile as well. Looking forward to finishing the enchiladas tomorrow! Now for the best ending, our server brought over a Birthday Sundae with Carmel filled churros, ice cream and chocolate sauce. That was so thoughtful and we enjoyed every last bite! Ola Mexican Kitchen has a new fan. I look forward to the next visit!

Yelp
Went for brunch on a Sunday! They do not have NFL Sunday Ticket, but they did offer to try to put the football game I requested on. Both the brunch menu and regular menu were available. Our table ordered a mix of brunch and non brunch items. The Ola Burrito with carne asada was huge and had both red and green salsa on top. Flavor was good, and I would order it again! The Ribeye and Eggs from the brunch menu was okay. The ribeye was requested medium and could have been cooked better. I wouldn't order this again. Service was great! Our server was on top of it and was happy to fulfill any requests we had.

Yelp
It took a while for me to do this review because I dreaded doing it... this incident occurred during my birthday dinner and it was such a let down! Server Ethan was attentive and gave time for us to place our orders. I ordered the Ola burrito and a few seconds into our meal... A LONG STRING OF HAIR... under the sauce and I was sooo disgusted + annoyed. They redid the burrito and I took it to go. The manager: Travis came over and extended his apologies but what can' be said about a situation like that... I liked the churros with ice cream + the chips and salsa. These were the best things I had. The Ola burrito was nothing special, imo. Filled with veggies, rice, beans.. the chicken needed more flavor --it was just ok. I don't think I'd return.

Yelp
The service was good, but the Mexican food was disgusting af. I'm Mexican and this was so disgusting never again.

Yelp
Came for lunch 7/2/2025. Had a great time. The place is super roomy with plenty of seating and a lot of nice beach views! SERVICE: We were greeted right when we got in and seated quickly. Our server was very nice and super attentive. Got our drinks and food timely! FOOD: Fabulous! From the house-made Cho's and salsa to our food choices - everything was great. We tried the shrimp ceviche, Caesar salad, tortilla soup and the agave salmon. Everything was perfect! And the margaritas - Superb!! If you are hanging in HB - you gotta come hang at Ola's - even if just for chips and margs!!
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you to the staff at Ola Mexican Kitchen for accommodating last minute. I truly appreciate the great service and hospitality!! My daughter had a great time and we enjoyed our meals! We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Second time coming in and it was a drastic difference. First off the service was great, we got a table so quick for a group of 9 and the waitresses were so good, quick, and kind. I went down to 4 stars this visit instead of 5. The chips were nowhere near as seasoned as they were first time. We clearly got the end of a batch or something because they barely had seasoning. The pollo con mole was mid as well. Chicken was well prepared but the mole sauce was nothing special. And again the Baja fish tacos are 10/10!! My friend said the blackberry jalepeno marg was "the best margarita I've ever had" and all of the other flavors were amazing too!

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place--it came recommended by a few friends--but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. To start with the positives: the ocean views were easily the highlight of the experience. The breeze and the general ambiance were all lovely. I also appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa. Our waiter didn't ask if we'd been there before or offer any kind of introduction--he jumped right into asking what we wanted to order. When we weren't ready, he came by a few times without much patience and never offered suggestions or guidance. I eventually asked for a recommendation and went with the shrimp taco, and also ordered their short rib taco, which was the special that day. I didn't enjoy the shrimp taco. The short rib taco had good flavor, but it was extremely greasy--probably the greasiest dish I've ever been served, to the point where grease covered my whole plate and made the tortilla soggy. As for drinks, they didn't impress me either. Nothing stood out and I wouldn't go back for them. A quick note on parking: it's worth asking the valet about the best option. There's a sign advertising a deal, but it only covers a short window. We were told by the valet that paying the flat $20 for the night was the better option, and that turned out to be true. Overall, aside from the view and free chips and salsa, the experience was underwhelming. I don't see myself returning.

Yelp
I've been here several times with friends and family and the food has always been pretty good. The beer battered fish tacos are a favorite of mine. The complimentary chips and salsa are very good here as well. My friend got the $42 seafood soup and it was tasty, but it definitely was not worth the price in my opinion. The tacos are 3 for $22 but they really pack it with meat, so I think they are the most worth it item on the menu along with the burritos. The view of the ocean is really nice and the service is usually pretty good. We will keep coming back here, but will probably only order the tacos every time!
google avatar

Marie D.

Yelp
The service was really great, I wish I could remember my waiter's name. But if you are lucky enough to have a friendly redheaded dude, that was him! Came here on a Saturday to grab a quick bite and a drink. The tacos are $17 for 2 or $21 for 3. The two tacos were a decent enough size for me, but if you're a big eater you may want to go for three. I had the carne asada and the pork belly it was good. I had the bloody orange cocktail and thoroughly enjoyed sipping it as I enjoyed my view of the beach. My waiter didn't rush me, and I got to enjoy the complimentary nachos with a bunch of different hot sauces that he brought out. This is a great place to go on a sunny day.
google avatar

Alicia N.

Yelp
The best thing about this place was definitely the ambience! We sat in the patio. It was such nice weather!!!! Me and my friends had cocktails and the food was beyond delicious. Our server was very kind and their variety was of selections on the menu was great. Definitely go when the weather is nice, so you can enjoy the beach and weather.

Yelp
We came here since we were in the area and a friend recommended it. I can't stop talking about their chips. They were sooooo good and warm. We went through almost 2 baskets of them and then I bought some to take home. They were still good all week long. Seriously. For food, I had the pork belly taco and it's a really good size and was pretty tasty. I'd definitely go back if in the area since I'm a bit far from here. Service was good. I just don't recall our server's name.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! We were immediately greeted by Maddie the hostess. She was sweet and friendly with a big smile and made us feel welcomed. She sat us with an amazing view of the ocean. Our waitress was Allyse. She was on it. Greeted us with a smile. Took our order and gave perfect service. The food was so good! My wife had the Agave Salmon...I had a bite and it melted in my mouth. I had the chicken enchiladas. Red sauce made the difference. Again so delicious. They validated our parking as well. Wonderful restaurant! We will be back!

Adriana G.

Yelp
This restaurant is across the beach so theres a beautiful view when dining in the patio area. The food is Mexican food but not authentic. Service was ok. Servers were nice when taking your order but never took their time to come back and offer atleast a refill on our drinks. Will never be coming back. I don't recommend this place...specially if you're not white. Felt discriminated.
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Stopped in for some grub on a sunny and slightly breezy Thursday afternoon. The hostess was very friendly. We sat where we had a direct view of the beach and ocean, which made for great scenery. Our food was excellent, but we had to wait a little too long to place our order; otherwise, our waiter was attentive and friendly. We'd definitely go back!

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I certainly would. We made a reservation for 13 people well in advance and were seated promptly upon arrival. Initially, our waitress was attentive, but as time went on, her service declined. Our drinks were often empty or watered down, and requests for refills took a long time or were forgotten altogether. We spent about 2.5 hours there, and my drink wasn't refilled once. When we ordered our food, it arrived lukewarm, and mine was ice cold, as if it had just come out of the freezer and been placed on a warm plate. After sending it back, it returned clearly microwaved, with wilted lettuce. Despite asking for assistance multiple times, the waitress did not return until the end to collect plates. When she asked if I wanted to box up my meal, I explained that it was unsatisfactory and still cold. She kindly removed it from the bill, but overall, the food quality was poor, and the service was disappointing. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, so it's hard to understand why the service was lacking. The establishment itself was clean and well-organized, with a nicely arranged bar and excellent bathroom facilities, but unfortunately, those are the only positive aspects I can mention. I wouldn't recommend visiting this place, even on a good day. it.

Yelp
This was our 3rd dinner date here and this place never disappoints I've sat once in the patio 10/10 great atmosphere, in a booth very intimate and by the window late night rainy schedule and was lovely . Our server was so great !! And we enjoyed our queso fundido so much our friends ordered 2 of those for the table . My husband and I had enchiladas and chile relleno 10/10 . I love it here will definitely be going back more times for date night .

Yelp
The view was five stars. The service was good and the food was ok. A bit pricey but it is California so you come to expect that.

Yelp
76 degrees outside , beautiful day at the beach. Ate at outside covered patio with view of beach and pier. Location is a 10! Food was also great. No complaints. Good complimented the location.
google avatar

April R.

Yelp
The place is on the coast right by the beach, giving an amazing view. The food and drinks are delicious. We mainly stayed for appetizers and drinks. The customer service really wasn't great. The staff weren't accommodating. Overall customer service would be a 2-3/5. This made us decide to leave after appetizers because it didn't feel fully pleasant. Otherwise seems like they would have had very nice food. Parking validation for the nearby parking structure is offered.

Yelp
Was fantastic experience today at Ola! The service was phenomenal! We were seated right away for our Tuesday lunch. We had a nice patio seat with a view of the pier. We got extra lucky and had a view of the jets practicing for the upcoming airshow too! We ordered fresh guacamole which was great! The lobster tacos were a 7 dollar up charge but totally worth it! We also enjoyed the salmon and brie tacos too! We had a great waitress that kept the soda refills coming! I will definitely be going back, but next time I'll be getting two lobster tacos instead of one!
google avatar

Ashley V.

Yelp
Talk about great food, location, and ambiance! We were in town visiting friends and stumbled across this place. The chips with Tajin and salsa were a great start to the meal. I got the mixed tacos and the lobster has so much meat! Not to mention the view of the ocean was incredible! Next time we visit this place will definitely be on the list!
google avatar

Yelp
Ambience was perfect relaxing yet lively! Service was fast and ideal. Servers were attentive. Food tasted great. Overall great restaurant and would recommend for families, especially!
google avatar

Yelp
wonderful server. The kitchen did forget about my order and brought me a cold plate after everyone at my table was basically done eating. They remade it and it was tasty. The view from our table was nice to watch the sunset
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
Great happy hour and an even better view! I got here about 4:30 on a Friday and there were still plenty of tables, but it definitely got filled up as the evening went on. We snagged a great table with an ocean view in the bar area, and there's even a fun outdoor covered patio you can enjoy for HH or your meal as well. I opted for the Cadillac Marg which was great, and chose two tacos - the steak and the fish. I thoroughly enjoyed both but the fish was my personal favorite! The chips are great and fresh with a wonderful seasoning on them, and guac and salsa were yummy too. I unfortunately don't live in the area but would definitely come back here when visiting my friends who live closeby!
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Best chips around! Whatever seasoning they put on them is magic. A bit pricey for Mexican food and the portion size you receive, but overall very yummy food. Cocktail quality really depends on who is bartending...sometimes they're a bit heavy on the juice and light on the booze. Lots of space for large parties.
google avatar

Luigi P.

Yelp
Great food and great service. They were able to accommodate us even without a reservation and it was a busy Saturday night. Carne asada tacos and chicken mole were delicious. The Paloma was good too. Can't beat the 2nd story view of the beach either.
google avatar

Melody G.

Yelp
So, I've been going to Ola for a long time. I love Ola, but I have to be honest and say that it's one of those places where you just don't know what you're going to get. Sometimes great, other times salty, sometimes bland. I can't give Ola less than 4 stars because overall I do really enjoy going. I love the chips, salsa, & blackberry Jalapeño margaritas. I forgot to take a photo of some dishes. Today the pasole was on point and tasty. The baja fish taco & lobster taco was delish. The carne asada taco was dried out & grilled fish taco was whatever. My friend had the shrimp ceviche & she said it was bland & the portion was smaller than it used to be ( the norm for many restaurants now.)
google avatar

Tash E.

Yelp
I am so happy that I found this gem of a restaurant. The only downfall is that there is not a location near where I live. I wish it was because I would be there every day. Everything was plated so beautifully and tasted so fresh. I love that they had different ingredients and a variety of different things mixed together that you normally don't see. The chips and salsa are complementary and the seasoning on. It is incredible. Nothing like anything else I've ever had. The best part is while you're dining on some fantastic food. You also have an ocean front view. It doesn't get better than that.
google avatar

Irma F.

Yelp
Food is horrible , not recomendé No flavor , the soup was not good Service was great the server Tyler was amazing !!
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
I've only had their Trio Tacos and I must give it 5 stars for the generosity of meat, how tasty they were and how excellent the service was. Been here 3X and food is reasonably priced, wonderful service, great view, and delicious food. The Beach is across the street. Total of 4 employees cost me only $146 without tip.
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
Great food and staff! We love coming here as it just feels like home. Perfect for a family meal and we always see people that we know whenever we visit!
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. It's kid friendly with a kid menu and crayons to keep the kids busy while we enjoy the food and the view of Huntington Beach.
google avatar

Kalani R.

Yelp
first timer at this establishment, the drinks were very strong. 2 drinks were worth every dollar I ordered enchiladas and i ate here Jan 18, today is Feb 5, to this day I am dreaming of this dish I am Latina and can say for certain these were as delicious as my grandmothers
google avatar

Lexi S.

Yelp
Beautiful location, I love being able to see the boats and the harbor from inside. Their happy hour is a fantastic deal, yummy margaritas and appetizers! Their guacamole is delicious, creamy and a perfect accompaniment to the chips, bean dip and salsas! I ordered their quesadilla last time with chicken and it was filling, cheesy, and just want you'd want to munch on while sipping on tour margaritas. Great to come with families, friends, a date, girls night out, etc! Service is on top of filling drinks and getting food out quickly. Our server was very friendly and personable.
google avatar

Chrissy K.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat with a perfect view of the ocean. It's definitely a little pricier than your average Mexican restaurant, but of course, being by the beach, you're paying for good food and ambiance. Don't expect traditional food here, however, it's still good. Most of the items are a la carte so it makes it easier to share, or choose what you like.
google avatar

Debbie L.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great and you get to eat with a gorgeous view of the beach. They also have great happy hour deals, which we love!! Service was ok though, even though it wasn't busy at all it was so hard to find our server at times, but vibes overall were great.
google avatar

Steven D.

Yelp
Came here with high expectations after visiting a few times and having excellent experiences. The food that came out was partially good, but the green tomatillo sauce was incredibly bitter and inedible. Same with the rice. Wyatt did an incredible job, but the manager was nowhere to be found. They admitted that the sauce tasted "off" and offered to let us reorder. The situation was handled very poorly on a management level. This was our 4th visit and will likely be our last.
google avatar

Hannah

Yelp
Went here to celebrate my parents anniversary. The service was really good and the view we got from the patio was beautiful! It over looked the sea and the pier. The food was delicious at a decent price. Most places I go to are stingy when it comes to lobster but they filled our lobster tacos up. The free tortilla chips were so good and seasoned, and you got to choose whatever dip you wanted for free! Would come again :)
google avatar

Bogart M.

Yelp
We have an important business luncheon coming up and were scouting out restaurants. The manager at Ola was very accommodating to reserve the perfect table. The ambience is perfect for our meeting and we look forward to trying out what looks like a delicious menu.
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the top second floor of the Pacific City Mall, which was somewhat difficult to find due to the lack of directories. There is a parking lot underneath the mall where they will validate your parking. We requested to sit near the windows to get a view of the beach, but unfortunately we got middle aisle seating which wasn't too bad of a view! They gave complimentary chips and salsa which were pretty good, but the chips did not seem to be seasoned well. The 3 tacos costed $21 in total which is very pricey! They definitely did not skimp on the filling and it tasted decent, but it still does not justify the price tag of $7 per taco. Baja fish taco could've used more seasoning and could've been fried longer for a crispier exterior. You can get better and cheaper tacos from a taco stand anywhere else in OC.

Yelp
Sat at the table near the bar & Tommy was ana amazing manager! It was Memorial Day weekend & the service was a little slow for drinks & chips with salsa/guac but Tommy made it up by giving the whole table patron shots on the house! Great gesture & classy, we will be back! Thx again Tommy
google avatar

Rica R.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Been here a few times and always had great experience! Keep in mind, the drinks are strong!
google avatar

Neluta G.

Yelp
The margaritas were good. They gave us an ocean view table. Chips and salsa good, which is not good because you fill up on that. They rush you through the meal to get new customers. No ambiance very rushed. Lobster overcooked they change you $7 extra for lobster tacos. Steak very salty. It is a chain restaurant. Not sure if I will ever go back with so many Mexican food choices around.

Peter T.

Yelp
Food, drinks, view, atmosphere, service excellent. We had a great time. And some extra characters to make Yelp happy.

Chloe K.

Yelp
Came here for lunch yesterday and was really disappointed with the food overall. I have eaten here previously and had good experiences so maybe the kitchen was just having an off day. The grilled and fried fish tacos were awful - so fishy we couldn't even eat one of them. The veggie taco was okay but a weird combination of asparagus and corn. The food is not cheap ($17+ for 2 tacos) and comes with no sides. The best part of the meal unfortunately were the free chips :/ We told our server (who was super nice) and he comped the one fish taco that we couldn't eat. Honestly probably should have spoken to a manager but we just wanted to pay and leave as fast as possible.
google avatar

Genesis C.

Yelp
My best friend and I came to try the drinks and they did not disappoint, the spicy margaritas and fish tacos hit the spot. Service was a little slow though, kinda felt like we got forgotten even with a reservation. But the bar looked like a whole vibe, so we're definitely coming back to drink our way through it next time.

Yelp
We came to celebrate my mothers day. I have been here before a few times and never had a complain . Today was not at all what i expected, server was not on his game at all. Table was dirty, Didnt come to see if we needed anything, Did not offer us more drinks or even desert. The ceviche was warm and lacked flavor. Didnt clear our plates when we we done w our food. To bad, Its such a nice restaurant but not worth it if service is terrible .
