15 Must-Try Astral Margaritas in Orange County | Eater

"Ola Mexican Kitchen serves bold, Baja-style flavors with some of the best ocean views in town. The space is contemporary yet cozy, with wooden accents and ocean-facing windows that make it a prime spot for a laid-back meal. The cucumber jalapeño margarita, made with Astral Blanco, delivers a bright citrus kick with just the right amount of heat. Grab a window seat for sunset, or opt for a booth for an easygoing evening." - McConnell Quinn

The atmosphere was great with perfect views of the Pacific! Wait staff were fantastic and extremely friendly! The chips and salsa were outstanding!! I love the seasoning they put on their chips. My grilled chicken tacos were ok, nothing fantastic. The tortillas were rather soggy and the Margaritas were extremely strong. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.

Google
I’ve been here several times with friends and family and the food has always been pretty good. The beer battered fish tacos are a favorite of mine. The complimentary chips and salsa are very good here as well. My friend got the $42 seafood soup and it was tasty, but it definitely was not worth the price in my opinion. The tacos are 3 for $22 but they really pack it with meat, so I think they are the most worth it item on the menu along with the burritos. The view of the ocean is really nice and the service is usually pretty good. We will keep coming back here, but will probably only order the tacos every time!

We ate here today. The food was 100% can food. The taste was horrible. Not authentic Mexican food at all! The service was great and the view to the beach fabulous. My husband & I will never go here unless it’s to have a drink on the patio and enjoy the view.

From the start the hostess was very accommodating by putting us in the extended patio because we were with our doggo. And they started the outdoor heater immediately followed by the server kindly greeted us with the chips and salsa and the orders came out in timely manner. The guacamole (non traditional) was honestly different in a good way. Never knew the pomegranate and orange zest would go this well with quac. 100% recommend. Their alcohol was great, ceviche was delicious and we also got dos tacos de carne asada which was also tasty and not greasy. On top of this we got to witness the sunset from the patio which was the added bonus. We will definitely come back to this place, great employees, tasty food, good vibes, great location, even the restroom was well maintained.

Camer here on the 4th of July and was amazed we got seated immediately! Kind of rare! We had the chefs guacamole, carne asada, Baja fish, lobster, and pork belly tacos! I’m pretty basic sometimes so my favorites were the asada and fish while my lady really like the other 3 more. The gauc was very good as well. I’ll definitely be back! And don’t forget about the view! We were able to watch the sunset as we dined and see people starting their fireworks outside from our table. Great food and experience! Parking on the 4th is a different story though (mostly trying to leave) so plan accordingly for that. I’m sure normal, non holidays it’s easy to get in and out though

My drink stayed full food was good . My seat was a little awkward being sat in the isle. It was a good night to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

Got a table with no reservation on a Friday. Ambience is swanky and dark. Great for a date or intimate gathering in the back tables. Service was very good. Both in attentiveness and timeliness. Food above average Mexican. Maybe only Javier's is better locally. The Chefs Guacamole is a game changer. It's a pomegranate infused guac. Absolutel game changer and must try. I judge Mexican eateries by their salsa selections and Ola is no slouch offering multiple flavors and spicyness. 9/10 Absolutely will return.

Google
Arrived around 11:30 AM, not super hungry, so I went with the shrimp ceviche—and wow. Somehow light and hearty at the same time. Absolutely phenomenal! Jordan, our server, took a good experience and made it truly EXCEPTIONAL. From the atmosphere to the food to the service, everything was on point. If you’re in the area and want more than just a meal—if you’re looking for a whole experience—this is THE place.

Yelp
Came for lunch 7/2/2025. Had a great time. The place is super roomy with plenty of seating and a lot of nice beach views! SERVICE: We were greeted right when we got in and seated quickly. Our server was very nice and super attentive. Got our drinks and food timely! FOOD: Fabulous! From the house-made Cho's and salsa to our food choices - everything was great. We tried the shrimp ceviche, Caesar salad, tortilla soup and the agave salmon. Everything was perfect! And the margaritas - Superb!! If you are hanging in HB - you gotta come hang at Ola's - even if just for chips and margs!!

Yelp
Second time coming in and it was a drastic difference. First off the service was great, we got a table so quick for a group of 9 and the waitresses were so good, quick, and kind. I went down to 4 stars this visit instead of 5. The chips were nowhere near as seasoned as they were first time. We clearly got the end of a batch or something because they barely had seasoning. The pollo con mole was mid as well. Chicken was well prepared but the mole sauce was nothing special. And again the Baja fish tacos are 10/10!! My friend said the blackberry jalepeno marg was "the best margarita I've ever had" and all of the other flavors were amazing too!

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place--it came recommended by a few friends--but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. To start with the positives: the ocean views were easily the highlight of the experience. The breeze and the general ambiance were all lovely. I also appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa. Our waiter didn't ask if we'd been there before or offer any kind of introduction--he jumped right into asking what we wanted to order. When we weren't ready, he came by a few times without much patience and never offered suggestions or guidance. I eventually asked for a recommendation and went with the shrimp taco, and also ordered their short rib taco, which was the special that day. I didn't enjoy the shrimp taco. The short rib taco had good flavor, but it was extremely greasy--probably the greasiest dish I've ever been served, to the point where grease covered my whole plate and made the tortilla soggy. As for drinks, they didn't impress me either. Nothing stood out and I wouldn't go back for them. A quick note on parking: it's worth asking the valet about the best option. There's a sign advertising a deal, but it only covers a short window. We were told by the valet that paying the flat $20 for the night was the better option, and that turned out to be true. Overall, aside from the view and free chips and salsa, the experience was underwhelming. I don't see myself returning.

Yelp
The service was really great, I wish I could remember my waiter's name. But if you are lucky enough to have a friendly redheaded dude, that was him! Came here on a Saturday to grab a quick bite and a drink. The tacos are $17 for 2 or $21 for 3. The two tacos were a decent enough size for me, but if you're a big eater you may want to go for three. I had the carne asada and the pork belly it was good. I had the bloody orange cocktail and thoroughly enjoyed sipping it as I enjoyed my view of the beach. My waiter didn't rush me, and I got to enjoy the complimentary nachos with a bunch of different hot sauces that he brought out. This is a great place to go on a sunny day.

Yelp
The best thing about this place was definitely the ambience! We sat in the patio. It was such nice weather!!!! Me and my friends had cocktails and the food was beyond delicious. Our server was very kind and their variety was of selections on the menu was great. Definitely go when the weather is nice, so you can enjoy the beach and weather.

Yelp
We came here since we were in the area and a friend recommended it. I can't stop talking about their chips. They were sooooo good and warm. We went through almost 2 baskets of them and then I bought some to take home. They were still good all week long. Seriously. For food, I had the pork belly taco and it's a really good size and was pretty tasty. I'd definitely go back if in the area since I'm a bit far from here. Service was good. I just don't recall our server's name.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I certainly would. We made a reservation for 13 people well in advance and were seated promptly upon arrival. Initially, our waitress was attentive, but as time went on, her service declined. Our drinks were often empty or watered down, and requests for refills took a long time or were forgotten altogether. We spent about 2.5 hours there, and my drink wasn't refilled once. When we ordered our food, it arrived lukewarm, and mine was ice cold, as if it had just come out of the freezer and been placed on a warm plate. After sending it back, it returned clearly microwaved, with wilted lettuce. Despite asking for assistance multiple times, the waitress did not return until the end to collect plates. When she asked if I wanted to box up my meal, I explained that it was unsatisfactory and still cold. She kindly removed it from the bill, but overall, the food quality was poor, and the service was disappointing. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, so it's hard to understand why the service was lacking. The establishment itself was clean and well-organized, with a nicely arranged bar and excellent bathroom facilities, but unfortunately, those are the only positive aspects I can mention. I wouldn't recommend visiting this place, even on a good day. it.

Yelp
Ambience was perfect relaxing yet lively! Service was fast and ideal. Servers were attentive. Food tasted great. Overall great restaurant and would recommend for families, especially!

Yelp
Talk about great food, location, and ambiance! We were in town visiting friends and stumbled across this place. The chips with Tajin and salsa were a great start to the meal. I got the mixed tacos and the lobster has so much meat! Not to mention the view of the ocean was incredible! Next time we visit this place will definitely be on the list!

Yelp
I came here for drinks on a weekend and sat at the bar. Drinks were good nothing to complain about there however, their tables in the bar area were all "reserved" which was odd because they were empty and not busy at all. The reason for my two star review is because of the feeling of being rushed to order, rushed to finish our drinks and rushed to pay and leave. I get it they want to turn over tables to get as many customers as they can you make it less obvious? I would give zero stars for ambience and customer service. I was appalled by an employee who had the audacity to go and find an elderly man and told him "your check was over $100 the minimum tip is blank amount you only have me blank". To that sever I'm sorry but if you have to demand tips to make ends meet maybe you are in the wrong industry and need to look for a job elsewhere where you don't have to rely on tips to make a living. This is unacceptable and the tipping culture is out of hand.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat with a perfect view of the ocean. It's definitely a little pricier than your average Mexican restaurant, but of course, being by the beach, you're paying for good food and ambiance. Don't expect traditional food here, however, it's still good. Most of the items are a la carte so it makes it easier to share, or choose what you like.
google avatar

April R.

Yelp
The place is on the coast right by the beach, giving an amazing view. The food and drinks are delicious. We mainly stayed for appetizers and drinks. The customer service really wasn't great. The staff weren't accommodating. Overall customer service would be a 2-3/5. This made us decide to leave after appetizers because it didn't feel fully pleasant. Otherwise seems like they would have had very nice food. Parking validation for the nearby parking structure is offered.
google avatar

Debbie L.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great and you get to eat with a gorgeous view of the beach. They also have great happy hour deals, which we love!! Service was ok though, even though it wasn't busy at all it was so hard to find our server at times, but vibes overall were great.
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Best chips around! Whatever seasoning they put on them is magic. A bit pricey for Mexican food and the portion size you receive, but overall very yummy food. Cocktail quality really depends on who is bartending...sometimes they're a bit heavy on the juice and light on the booze. Lots of space for large parties.

Yelp
Was fantastic experience today at Ola! The service was phenomenal! We were seated right away for our Tuesday lunch. We had a nice patio seat with a view of the pier. We got extra lucky and had a view of the jets practicing for the upcoming airshow too! We ordered fresh guacamole which was great! The lobster tacos were a 7 dollar up charge but totally worth it! We also enjoyed the salmon and brie tacos too! We had a great waitress that kept the soda refills coming! I will definitely be going back, but next time I'll be getting two lobster tacos instead of one!
google avatar

Melody G.

Yelp
So, I've been going to Ola for a long time. I love Ola, but I have to be honest and say that it's one of those places where you just don't know what you're going to get. Sometimes great, other times salty, sometimes bland. I can't give Ola less than 4 stars because overall I do really enjoy going. I love the chips, salsa, & blackberry Jalapeño margaritas. I forgot to take a photo of some dishes. Today the pasole was on point and tasty. The baja fish taco & lobster taco was delish. The carne asada taco was dried out & grilled fish taco was whatever. My friend had the shrimp ceviche & she said it was bland & the portion was smaller than it used to be ( the norm for many restaurants now.)
google avatar

Jas S.

Yelp
wonderful server. The kitchen did forget about my order and brought me a cold plate after everyone at my table was basically done eating. They remade it and it was tasty. The view from our table was nice to watch the sunset
google avatar

Genesis C.

Yelp
My best friend and I came to try the drinks and they did not disappoint, the spicy margaritas and fish tacos hit the spot. Service was a little slow though, kinda felt like we got forgotten even with a reservation. But the bar looked like a whole vibe, so we're definitely coming back to drink our way through it next time.
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
Great happy hour and an even better view! I got here about 4:30 on a Friday and there were still plenty of tables, but it definitely got filled up as the evening went on. We snagged a great table with an ocean view in the bar area, and there's even a fun outdoor covered patio you can enjoy for HH or your meal as well. I opted for the Cadillac Marg which was great, and chose two tacos - the steak and the fish. I thoroughly enjoyed both but the fish was my personal favorite! The chips are great and fresh with a wonderful seasoning on them, and guac and salsa were yummy too. I unfortunately don't live in the area but would definitely come back here when visiting my friends who live closeby!
google avatar

Connor A.

Yelp
Sat at the table near the bar & Tommy was ana amazing manager! It was Memorial Day weekend & the service was a little slow for drinks & chips with salsa/guac but Tommy made it up by giving the whole table patron shots on the house! Great gesture & classy, we will be back! Thx again Tommy

Yelp
I am so happy that I found this gem of a restaurant. The only downfall is that there is not a location near where I live. I wish it was because I would be there every day. Everything was plated so beautifully and tasted so fresh. I love that they had different ingredients and a variety of different things mixed together that you normally don't see. The chips and salsa are complementary and the seasoning on. It is incredible. Nothing like anything else I've ever had. The best part is while you're dining on some fantastic food. You also have an ocean front view. It doesn't get better than that.

Yelp
I've dined at Ola many times, but this visit stood out. I was seated in a part of the restaurant I hadn't been to before, and it gave the experience a fresh feel. We started with the Nachos con Carne. They were loaded with carne asada, queso fundido, escabeche peppers, and guac. Super flavorful and perfectly portioned. The lobster quesadilla was rich and satisfying, with tender Maine lobster and melty cheese. The three taco combo was excellent: the pork belly was bold and crispy, the baja fish fresh with great slaw, and the salmon agave was uniquely sweet and balanced with brie and chipotle-honey glaze. Our server, Tyler, was friendly and attentive. Pricing matched the quality, and the atmosphere, as always, was lively but comfortable. Still one of my favorite spots in Huntington Beach.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
I've only had their Trio Tacos and I must give it 5 stars for the generosity of meat, how tasty they were and how excellent the service was. Been here 3X and food is reasonably priced, wonderful service, great view, and delicious food. The Beach is across the street. Total of 4 employees cost me only $146 without tip.

Yelp
We came to celebrate my mothers day. I have been here before a few times and never had a complain . Today was not at all what i expected, server was not on his game at all. Table was dirty, Didnt come to see if we needed anything, Did not offer us more drinks or even desert. The ceviche was warm and lacked flavor. Didnt clear our plates when we we done w our food. To bad, Its such a nice restaurant but not worth it if service is terrible .
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. It's kid friendly with a kid menu and crayons to keep the kids busy while we enjoy the food and the view of Huntington Beach.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been coming to Ola Mexican Kitchen since they opened in 2016, and it's always a treat. The lobster and pork belly tacos are my absolute favorites--packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. Their habanero sauce is next-level good! What really makes Ola extra special is the service--from the warm welcome by the host to the attentive and friendly waitstaff, everyone makes you feel genuinely taken care of. Delicious food, great vibes, and unbeatable ocean views--Ola never disappoints!

Yelp
first timer at this establishment, the drinks were very strong. 2 drinks were worth every dollar I ordered enchiladas and i ate here Jan 18, today is Feb 5, to this day I am dreaming of this dish I am Latina and can say for certain these were as delicious as my grandmothers
google avatar

Lexi S.

Yelp
Beautiful location, I love being able to see the boats and the harbor from inside. Their happy hour is a fantastic deal, yummy margaritas and appetizers! Their guacamole is delicious, creamy and a perfect accompaniment to the chips, bean dip and salsas! I ordered their quesadilla last time with chicken and it was filling, cheesy, and just want you'd want to munch on while sipping on tour margaritas. Great to come with families, friends, a date, girls night out, etc! Service is on top of filling drinks and getting food out quickly. Our server was very friendly and personable.
google avatar

Steven D.

Yelp
Came here with high expectations after visiting a few times and having excellent experiences. The food that came out was partially good, but the green tomatillo sauce was incredibly bitter and inedible. Same with the rice. Wyatt did an incredible job, but the manager was nowhere to be found. They admitted that the sauce tasted "off" and offered to let us reorder. The situation was handled very poorly on a management level. This was our 4th visit and will likely be our last.
google avatar

Jessica E.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible, upscale Mexican food. The view of the beach out the west windows is truly stunning & gives great atmosphere. Service was incredible. Only thing is I wish the acoustics in the building were slightly better - it can get very loud & hard to hear when crowded.
google avatar

Hannah

Yelp
Went here to celebrate my parents anniversary. The service was really good and the view we got from the patio was beautiful! It over looked the sea and the pier. The food was delicious at a decent price. Most places I go to are stingy when it comes to lobster but they filled our lobster tacos up. The free tortilla chips were so good and seasoned, and you got to choose whatever dip you wanted for free! Would come again :)
google avatar

Paul T.

Yelp
Absolutely love coming here. Chips, guac, tacos, everything - amazing. Make a reservation and get a window seat!!!
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the top second floor of the Pacific City Mall, which was somewhat difficult to find due to the lack of directories. There is a parking lot underneath the mall where they will validate your parking. We requested to sit near the windows to get a view of the beach, but unfortunately we got middle aisle seating which wasn't too bad of a view! They gave complimentary chips and salsa which were pretty good, but the chips did not seem to be seasoned well. The 3 tacos costed $21 in total which is very pricey! They definitely did not skimp on the filling and it tasted decent, but it still does not justify the price tag of $7 per taco. Baja fish taco could've used more seasoning and could've been fried longer for a crispier exterior. You can get better and cheaper tacos from a taco stand anywhere else in OC.
google avatar

Stacy T.

Yelp
I asked for no tomatoes with my salmon, came with tomatoes. I told the server I was allergic so she took it back. I don't think my plate was remade because I had a severe allergic reaction. Just because Im not going into Anaphylactic shock doesn't mean I'm not allergic. Do better...if someone says they are allergic make a new plate!
google avatar

Rica R.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Been here a few times and always had great experience! Keep in mind, the drinks are strong!
google avatar

Neluta G.

Yelp
The margaritas were good. They gave us an ocean view table. Chips and salsa good, which is not good because you fill up on that. They rush you through the meal to get new customers. No ambiance very rushed. Lobster overcooked they change you $7 extra for lobster tacos. Steak very salty. It is a chain restaurant. Not sure if I will ever go back with so many Mexican food choices around.

Lori Ann S.

Yelp
Olas has the best view, chips & salsa, and the best service. Justin was friendly and attentive!! The carne asada nachos were delicious and we enjoyed our ,"mini vacation," in Mexico today. Thank you, Olas.
google avatar

Eryk B.

Yelp
Man, the food was on point. It's rare that I find a spot that not only gets my steak right, but backs it up with great service (kudos Dylan). Overall (Vibe, Food Quality, Value) it's definitely 10/10!
google avatar

Sandra P.

Yelp
The ambiance was Great. Server was Great. Food was ok, thumbs down on beef tacos and carnitas
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Cole was a fantastic server but the food at Ola did not quite live up to the expectations. My table had several different varieties of tacos and the only ones worth ordering are the Baja fish taco (which was nicely fried and paired well with the coleslaw) and pork belly tacos (which were tender and juicy). The shrimp tacos were overcooked and definitely not worth the extra charge, with barely any seasoning coming through. The carnitas tacos were also overcooked and stringy, and the carne asada tacos were just standard. The drinks here are nice and strong so I'd recommend coming here for drinks, but to be careful about what entrees to order.
google avatar

Zoey V.

Yelp
i was pleasantly surprised by this place! the portions were great, as were the drinks and food. the skinny prickly pear marg was soooo bomb (it was seasonal though so not always available). we got tacos and flautas, but the shining star was the flautas. man, you have to order the flautas. something about the sweet, savory, spicy flavor & the crispy tortilla was so bomb. i'd go back just to have those. tacos were good too but the flautas are rly lingering in my mind. i'd come back just for those
google avatar

Connie S.

Yelp
Have come here a bunch and always have a great experience. Great oceanfront restaurant with a view and located inside Pacific City. Great drink menu - my go to is the cucumber jalapeño margarita. Their chips and salsa are delicious it's hard to not fill up on it before the food comes. I love the taco options and usually get the Baja fish, carne asada or shrimp. They're all good though! Service is usually great as well. Don't forget they'll validate parking for 2 hours - it gets expensive at Pacific City!
google avatar

Aleigh B.

Yelp
Came here with my family and we were able to get a beach view outside and we were very pleased! The weather was great and the staff members were so nice! They started us off with drinks and chips and salsa. I was obsessed with their salsa it was so good! So fresh! The chips had some sort of seasoning on it that I really liked so I would fish out the chips with a lot of it on them. They have so much on the menu! My cousins and I ordered tacos and my husband ordered the burrito. The lobster taco I only had a bite of but man do I wish I got it. It's an additional price but it was so worth it. My cousin said it was his favorite! The chile relleno taco was very unique and one of my favorite tacos I've ever had! The carne asada taco was also tasty! My husbands burrito was massive! We all thought he wouldn't finish it but it was so tasty he did! Great location to eat if you are in the area and the view doesn't disappoint!

Yelp
The first time I went to Ola was for lunch -- we sat on the patio and enjoyed the view, but unfortunately, I found the food to be subpar especially given the price point. I ordered 3 tacos, carnitas, fish and asada and all of the tacos were cold upon arrival. The service was also very lacking. Definitely a 1-2 star experience. We recently ate a second time for my niece's birthday and the food arrived fresh and was pretty tasty. I still find the service to be slow, often needing to flag down a server to get a drink refill. Considering this is pricey mexican food, I expect more, hence the 3 stars. For this price point, I would choose Javiers every single time.
google avatar

Nadia P.

Yelp
Super good Mexican food!! The seasoning on the chips is delicious! One of my favorite date night spots with a gorgeous sunset view. Wait times can get long on a weekend.

Linda G.

Yelp
Unbelievably subpar food!! The tortillas were hard and tasteless. I was looking forward to a great taco and these weren't even close!! If the tortillas had been lightly grilled they could have been tender and delicious. Put the Salt down, PLEASE! What the heck did the chicken and carnitas do to you that you had to ruin it with so much salt!! Anyone that cooks knows that salt is intended to enhance the flavor of food, not destroy it!! Husband had the chile relleno and said it was very greasy, the poblano pepper wasn't roasted enough and was so hard and chewy that he struggled in cutting it with a knife. The cheese that was used needs to be a better quality, no flavor at all? Our first experience here was not a good one and definitely didn't take leftovers home!!! Overall a very poor experience!!! Based on the prices alone, this should have been a great experience!!! My advice is that corporate needs to do their job and read the bad reviews your customers are writing, they're intended to help you & tell you something you should already know!!! You need to send tasters into your restaurants to sample the food and improve it!!

Yelp
Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 The food is as you would expect. Located at Pacific City in HB. Most of the dishes tasted a bit "watered down." We ordered the following: Ribeye Enchiladas 2/5: The rib-eye was cooked perfectly, however, the enchiladas were on the sweeter side and lacked any other flavor. I had to request sour cream, jalepenos, and pico just to bring some flavor into the dish. Pork / Carne Asada Bell Tacos 2/5: Although they were on the larger side, the meat was very dry. All of the dishes felt like they were missing that something. Flan 1/5: Flan was extremely sweet and very dense. I'd probably only come back for the ambiance and drinks. They had a fully stocked bar with tons of Tequila options.

Yelp
Not only is the food over priced for sub par quality, the women's bathroom sinks at OLA -Pacific City are disgusting. The service is decent at best. It's cleanliness of the place that's foul. My neighbor posted a video on 8/10/24 (these are screenshots) on the next door app and this is what their sinks in the women's bathroom look like. I don't want to imagine what their kitchen looks like. This is a poor management issue. There's no reason for this level of disgustingness. No thank you to eating here ever again.
