Old Bank Hotel

"42 unique and chic rooms await in the heart of Oxford. Parts of the hotel date to the 14th century and one can gaze out at the spires and listen to church bells, but the atmosphere is contemporary with an emphasis on food and drink and sleeping rooms with art from ownership's private collection."

This hotel is located on the main high street and the location is ideal. The good thing about it is that private cars are banned from the high street, meaning it's actually quite a peaceful place to spend time. You can sit at nearby cafes and watch hundreds of bicycles go past (and also a lot of electric buses). ||We found Quod to be a reasonable enough restaurant. |My partner said she didn't think the toilets near reception were very clean and wasn't happy at the lack of USB ports in the room (just one at the back of the phone). ||That being said, we had a nice stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was clean and the bathroom was high quality. ||It's walking distance to many of the sites and the roads are easy to cross since regular car traffic has been restricted. We would stay there again

Really beautiful hotel, great rooms, had such a relaxing time! We had an amazing server at the bar, Frank! A Spanish legend, he was great, he recommended us the basil daiquiri (I think that’s the name?) which was possibly the tastiest cocktail I’ve ever had! Overall would definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved staying at the Old Bank Hotel in Oxford. The location is superb and the staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. |Our room faced the beautiful church on the high street so we had a beautiful view. |We however did not hear a single sound during the busy hours. I give credit to whoever designed the room - everything was in the correct place and we had so much space to move around. I loved the bay seats and bay windows Every amenity of a five star hotel was available. |The paintings and photographs all throughout the hotel were breathtaking. |We also had dinner at the Quod Restaurant- the service and food were impeccable even on a very busy graduation celebration night. |We have been recommending The Old Bank Hotel to many friends.

Didn't stay in the rooms so can't comment, went for a birthday meal. Food was excellent, staff were great. Nice atmosphere to the place. Food was above average price but worth it.

hotel is nice. clean, very good location. thought breakfast was average.|there was no make-up table and drying hair is difficult because there is no electrical outlet in bathroom and plug is inconveniently located in bedroom. so you can't look in the mirror whilst drying your hair.

A wonderful 2 night stay for our son’s wedding on 2nd August. Excellent breakfasts and a very enjoyable evening meal. All staff, particularly on reception, provided friendly and exceptional service, and nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to visiting this beautiful hotel again.

Sixteen of us arrive, on a golf trip, in a bus on a very busy street. A bellman immediately helps the bus driver unload sixteen sets of clubs and luggage and the reception staff pitches in. Chaos, which they handle smoothly with a smile.|The hotel was delightful, rooms were a good size and immaculate. The restaurant and bar are very, very cool. A meeting spot for locals; just a really fun vibe.|A really great hotel in a very cool town.

This is a very nice hotel perfectly centrally located on the High Street, with easy walking to anywhere in Oxford. The staff are friendly and helpful, and everything in the room was comfortable and well designed with the exception of the cold tile bathroom floor. They do provide slippers but I wished they hadn't been necessary. Other than that, it's all good!

Yelp
We stayed in October 2023 in the Old Bank Hotel in Oxford. A very comfortable Hotel ,very clean and has a lovely restaurant as well as wonderful seating in the garden. It is in close proximity to many colleges . We loved our stay there and think with nostalgia about our trip. Barbara Lester New York ,n.y.

Yelp
This hotel is lovely, from the staff to the food to the rooms. The holiday decor is beautiful and adds a mystical element. The rooms are cozy and clean with a great mini bar selection. The staff is accommodating and helpful. the restaurant is delicious and the hotel is affordable. Highly recommend if you are coming to Oxford

Yelp
AMAZING hotel! Where do I start?!? The food at the dining room was delicious. Breakfast and dinner. YUM! Loved the avocado on the crusty bread and poached egg for breakfast. And then the room!! The bed was divine ... soooo comfy. The view of the neighboring colleges was gorgeous. And, the shower was the BEST I've ever used. Heated bathroom floor and towel rack. Great shower head with good water pressure with great smelling soap. Wish I could've stayed more than one night!

Yelp
If you will be staying in Oxford, I can recommend the Old Bank Hotel. While it is, indeed, OLD, it is extremely comfortable, quiet, spotlessly clean and operated by a wonderful staff of young people dedicated to your comfort and satisfaction. It is well located on the main drag in Oxford and a very short walk from shopping, restaurants and, of course, the various segments of Oxford University. My sole complaint is applicable throughout Europe. These people do NOT understand the concept of a shower. Showers are generally afterthoughts in Europe. The tub enclosures for showering are PARTIAL, covering no more and usually less than 50% of the side of the tub. Water goes everywhere. I also suggest that Old Bank install tub/shower grab bars for customer safety.

Yelp
A very nice old building with a boutique charme to it. Once a bank (hence the name) this place is located right in the center of Oxford, close to pretty much everything. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom as well - just that omnipresent carpeting is something I wouldn't mind to go ;-) We stayed here for the first time - usually we do the Malmaison, but this is a good alternative - though pricey. Speaking of pricey - a two person breakfast buffet for 41.... is... shocking. and the Restaurant is open for hotel guests from 7 am on.

Yelp
Great place, wonderful 'old world' charm (pun intended) Stayed here for a few days last fall and its location, short walk to everything in town, is tough to beat. Breakfast was solid and the bar mixed up some stiff drinks upon request. Only downside is that it is small, and noise can carry so its probably not the place to host a 'raging kegger.' Lots of parents staying here when they come up to visit the kids at university as well.

Yelp
I wish I could take this hotel and breed it and spread it's offspring all over the world. The staff is excellent and the rooms - for the building they are in- are spacious and inviting. You get what you pay for with this hotel and I can't say a bad thing about them. All service staff are professional and courteous and will help you in any way that they can.

Yelp
The Old Bank Hotel in Oxford is undoubtedly in a great location right in the centre. The rooms are spacious and modern, and feature huge double beds, a CD player with a great speaker system, and an excellent bathroom with bath and shower. However, it is not very cheap, and you will be disappointed to find that despite the £100 per night, breakfast is not included. While there is a Quod restaurant on the ground floor, it seems that the hotel has not made the effort to come to some kind of arrangement, whereby guests could enjoy a free or even reduced breakfast here. If you are going to spend that much on a stay in Oxford, go for the Randolph or the Eastgate instead.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Oxford. The staff really works to meet your needs. The cafe and setting is quite artistic.

Yelp
Quite simply, the BEST place to stay in Oxford. I second the many positive things said about this hotel, and I only want to emphasize two: First, the free car parking in the back is worth every pence we paid for this pricey hotel. Driving and parking would otherwise have been a complete nightmare, and the directions on the hotel's website brought us directly where we needed to go (driving from Bath). What a relief! Second, the rooms are not only extremely comfortable, but they're literally smack dab in the middle of town. Our room looked directly out on the 14th century University Cathedral and the Radcliffe Camera. We were in the very center of everything Oxford--just perfect. While the prices in the Quod restaurant were not reflected in the quality of the service or food (for non-complimentary breakfast, we got one small cup of coffee, no refills, and still an inflated bill), the price of the hotel was well worth the incredible convenience and middle-of-it-all feel.

Yelp
Indeed, this used to be a branch of Barclays Bank, hence the name. I don't stay in the hotel but have dined and drank here and find it boring. In an attempt to be chic the architects have fragmented the dining/drinking space and I keep getting lost. It was more useful as a bank.

Yelp
The Old Bank hotel has a remarkable location, right in the middle of the High St, just adjacent to the University Examination Schools. The hotel rooms are excellent, as is the food in the attached restaraunt. Which is as you would expect for the amount of money you are paying, but the real bonus is the fact that most of the major tourist attractions - Magdalen College, the Exam Schools, Queens College, the Botanical Gardens, the City Centre, Radcliffe Camera, Bodliean Lilbrary, All Souls College, Magdalen Bridge and the Sheldonian Theatre are within 5-10 mins walk. An excellent choice if you can afford their rates!

Yelp
I stayed here in a junior suite. Great location, great service but not inexpensive.

Yelp
With out question the best hotel i have stayed in, the Staff were superb, nothing, was too much trouble, i was even given a birthday card on arrival. The rooms were spacious comfy and the whole place has just the right atmosphere. the Quod restaurant is again superb top food in a relaxed and comfy atmosphere. Tie in the location and you have the fullpackage.

Yelp
This is the place to stay in Oxford. The location is excellent, the rooms are contemporary and bright, the staff is attentive, and the Quod restaurant downstairs makes everything perfect. Our rate includes breakfast and free wifi. Having stayed here on three separate occasions in the last year I can confidently say this is the best choice. (Note that we have also stayed twice at the Randolph which also boasts location, but has poor quality service, inconsistent wifi, a funny smell, and dated rooms.) If you can get a reservation at the Old Bank, you will be very pleased. This is your first choice in Oxford.

Yelp
excellent rooms, excellent food location is really great for doing anything in Oxford staff very helpful worth the money (as opposed to the Randolph) only flaw was sketchy wi-fi internet in rooms

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous hotel - SO much better than the Randolph (sorry Randolph). Great rooms, fab staff and the restaurant serves great food. Free parking an real bonus (so rare in Oxford) - although mind how you enter it - it is SO narrow!!

Yelp
good hotel with a few issues.. well located.. but 1. cheap towels and pillows - your expensive- get this right... 2. not having a real lobby to wait and meet people is a drawback 3. get non dairy creamer -- its silly to have to call the desk every time you need milk.. they have extended date creamers too!! 4.more shampoos and bath products.. the ones you give are tiny-- your british --splurge on this!!! 5. include breakfast.. the randolph does this so well you need to compete.!!
