Old Bank Hotel

My only disappointment is that we didn't stay longer... Everything about staying at the Old Bank Hotel was great. Parking - As driving within Oxford is limited, they provided excellent directions on how to arrive to their parking lot without entering the limited access area. Location - The location of the hotel is perfect - everything is within a short walk. You could not be more central, and yet it's peaceful and quiet. Staff - Everyone was outstanding and helpful! Room - Ahhh, the luxury! Comfortable bed, great linens, plush robes, luxurious amenities, delicious tea and cookies! Oxford is a beautiful place and staying at the Old Bank Hotel just made it that much more memorable.

The staff at the Old Bank Hotel are the reason for my five-star review. They were outstanding our entire two-night stay. From the minute we arrived until we departed, the staff provided wonderful service and hospitality. The hotel's location is ideal to explore Oxford. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable with an exception to the bed. It was nice but not among the best I've had at a 5-star hotel. I would note the AC is either off or on. There is no intermittent settings so you are either cold or it is off during the summer months. I might have missed a setting but I looked hard to find one. The food in the restaurant, especially breakfast, is delicious. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. I appreciate the staff and their hard work during our stay.

This was the third hotel we stayed at in Oxford, and it was by far the best. From the moment we arrived, with a clearly marked parking space ready for us, the service was attentive and helpful throughout our brief stay. The interior décor blends classic elegance with modern touches, including some beautiful contemporary paintings. Our room had a wonderfully comfortable bed, a well-equipped bathroom, and a breathtaking view over the High Street and the University Church of St Mary the Virgin. If it weren’t for the modern traffic below, it would have felt like stepping back in time. While it was windy and dark outside, the hotel’s warm, peaceful atmosphere made us feel instantly relaxed. Breakfast in The Quad Restaurant was excellent – a perfect way to start the day. A truly great hotel that we would be happy to return to.

This really used to be my old bank back in the 1980s so it was nostalgic for us to be back in the city where we met and married. We needed to be at a service in the chapel in neighbouring Merton College so were pleased to be there on a Sunday when the hotel is more affordable than on other nights. A named reserved parking space was a nice touch in a location where a parking space is as rare as a unicorn. The room was luxurious. The staff are highly attentive - nothing was too much trouble. The guest lounge was handy for us to share an evening drink with friends. Breakfast in Quod was a treat - our £190 room came with a £50 food voucher which isn’t bad value for such a high end hotel. This is probably the best hotel in central Oxford and we loved it. It’s a bit out of our price range at busier times, but I hope to be back for a special occasion or maybe another more affordable Sunday night stay. And thank you again to the excellent staff.

Amazing hotel with lovely staff. We stayed for 2 nights and didn’t want to leave. We loved the hotel and the facilities. The hotel was well appointed, comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast at the quod restaurant was lovely with good service. The staff make the hotel and are friendly and can’t do enough. We will certainly return and enjoyed our trip to Oxford

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful & centrally located hotel. We would like to thank all of the hotel staff for the exemplary service. Thankyou for making us feel so welcome. The little service touches (now very rare in many hotels) such as a prompt laundry service, shoe cleaning & late check out were very notable & appreciated. We would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Oxford & hope to be back sometime in the future.

The team at Old Bank were absolutely fantastic looking after my parents who stayed the night with them. They went above and beyond for us all with everything and we couldn't thank them enough. A really special thank you to the reception team Aditya and Grace. Along with the waitress who looked after us at breakfast, Angelica. They had such a special time made possible by the team there. Old Bank Hotel truly captures the idyllic charm of Oxford, you feel as if you’re in a walking novel especially during the Christmas festive season there is a warming glow ambience. Had the pleasure of staying for 5 perfect nights all thanks to the lovely team who made each second enjoyable and memorable. A big extra thanks to Maureen who came out in the rain to the car park with umbrellas to ensure I arrived in okay and her gleaming smile. And also to Carl you amazing soul just always went above and beyond to ensure our stay met all our needs. Until we see you all again, stay wonderful and thank you so much for your kindness! 💕

We stayed in October 2023 in the Old Bank Hotel in Oxford. A very comfortable Hotel ,very clean and has a lovely restaurant as well as wonderful seating in the garden. It is in close proximity to many colleges . We loved our stay there and think with nostalgia about our trip. Barbara Lester New York ,n.y.

This hotel is lovely, from the staff to the food to the rooms. The holiday decor is beautiful and adds a mystical element. The rooms are cozy and clean with a great mini bar selection. The staff is accommodating and helpful. the restaurant is delicious and the hotel is affordable. Highly recommend if you are coming to Oxford

AMAZING hotel! Where do I start?!? The food at the dining room was delicious. Breakfast and dinner. YUM! Loved the avocado on the crusty bread and poached egg for breakfast. And then the room!! The bed was divine ... soooo comfy. The view of the neighboring colleges was gorgeous. And, the shower was the BEST I've ever used. Heated bathroom floor and towel rack. Great shower head with good water pressure with great smelling soap. Wish I could've stayed more than one night!

If you will be staying in Oxford, I can recommend the Old Bank Hotel. While it is, indeed, OLD, it is extremely comfortable, quiet, spotlessly clean and operated by a wonderful staff of young people dedicated to your comfort and satisfaction. It is well located on the main drag in Oxford and a very short walk from shopping, restaurants and, of course, the various segments of Oxford University. My sole complaint is applicable throughout Europe. These people do NOT understand the concept of a shower. Showers are generally afterthoughts in Europe. The tub enclosures for showering are PARTIAL, covering no more and usually less than 50% of the side of the tub. Water goes everywhere. I also suggest that Old Bank install tub/shower grab bars for customer safety.

A very nice old building with a boutique charme to it. Once a bank (hence the name) this place is located right in the center of Oxford, close to pretty much everything. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom as well - just that omnipresent carpeting is something I wouldn't mind to go ;-) We stayed here for the first time - usually we do the Malmaison, but this is a good alternative - though pricey. Speaking of pricey - a two person breakfast buffet for 41.... is... shocking. and the Restaurant is open for hotel guests from 7 am on.

Great place, wonderful 'old world' charm (pun intended) Stayed here for a few days last fall and its location, short walk to everything in town, is tough to beat. Breakfast was solid and the bar mixed up some stiff drinks upon request. Only downside is that it is small, and noise can carry so its probably not the place to host a 'raging kegger.' Lots of parents staying here when they come up to visit the kids at university as well.

I wish I could take this hotel and breed it and spread it's offspring all over the world. The staff is excellent and the rooms - for the building they are in- are spacious and inviting. You get what you pay for with this hotel and I can't say a bad thing about them. All service staff are professional and courteous and will help you in any way that they can.

The Old Bank Hotel in Oxford is undoubtedly in a great location right in the centre. The rooms are spacious and modern, and feature huge double beds, a CD player with a great speaker system, and an excellent bathroom with bath and shower. However, it is not very cheap, and you will be disappointed to find that despite the £100 per night, breakfast is not included. While there is a Quod restaurant on the ground floor, it seems that the hotel has not made the effort to come to some kind of arrangement, whereby guests could enjoy a free or even reduced breakfast here. If you are going to spend that much on a stay in Oxford, go for the Randolph or the Eastgate instead.

Quite simply, the BEST place to stay in Oxford. I second the many positive things said about this hotel, and I only want to emphasize two: First, the free car parking in the back is worth every pence we paid for this pricey hotel. Driving and parking would otherwise have been a complete nightmare, and the directions on the hotel's website brought us directly where we needed to go (driving from Bath). What a relief! Second, the rooms are not only extremely comfortable, but they're literally smack dab in the middle of town. Our room looked directly out on the 14th century University Cathedral and the Radcliffe Camera. We were in the very center of everything Oxford--just perfect. While the prices in the Quod restaurant were not reflected in the quality of the service or food (for non-complimentary breakfast, we got one small cup of coffee, no refills, and still an inflated bill), the price of the hotel was well worth the incredible convenience and middle-of-it-all feel.

Indeed, this used to be a branch of Barclays Bank, hence the name. I don't stay in the hotel but have dined and drank here and find it boring. In an attempt to be chic the architects have fragmented the dining/drinking space and I keep getting lost. It was more useful as a bank.

The Old Bank hotel has a remarkable location, right in the middle of the High St, just adjacent to the University Examination Schools. The hotel rooms are excellent, as is the food in the attached restaraunt. Which is as you would expect for the amount of money you are paying, but the real bonus is the fact that most of the major tourist attractions - Magdalen College, the Exam Schools, Queens College, the Botanical Gardens, the City Centre, Radcliffe Camera, Bodliean Lilbrary, All Souls College, Magdalen Bridge and the Sheldonian Theatre are within 5-10 mins walk. An excellent choice if you can afford their rates!

I stayed here in a junior suite. Great location, great service but not inexpensive.

With out question the best hotel i have stayed in, the Staff were superb, nothing, was too much trouble, i was even given a birthday card on arrival. The rooms were spacious comfy and the whole place has just the right atmosphere. the Quod restaurant is again superb top food in a relaxed and comfy atmosphere. Tie in the location and you have the fullpackage.

This is the place to stay in Oxford. The location is excellent, the rooms are contemporary and bright, the staff is attentive, and the Quod restaurant downstairs makes everything perfect. Our rate includes breakfast and free wifi. Having stayed here on three separate occasions in the last year I can confidently say this is the best choice. (Note that we have also stayed twice at the Randolph which also boasts location, but has poor quality service, inconsistent wifi, a funny smell, and dated rooms.) If you can get a reservation at the Old Bank, you will be very pleased. This is your first choice in Oxford.

excellent rooms, excellent food location is really great for doing anything in Oxford staff very helpful worth the money (as opposed to the Randolph) only flaw was sketchy wi-fi internet in rooms

Absolutely fabulous hotel - SO much better than the Randolph (sorry Randolph). Great rooms, fab staff and the restaurant serves great food. Free parking an real bonus (so rare in Oxford) - although mind how you enter it - it is SO narrow!!

good hotel with a few issues.. well located.. but 1. cheap towels and pillows - your expensive- get this right... 2. not having a real lobby to wait and meet people is a drawback 3. get non dairy creamer -- its silly to have to call the desk every time you need milk.. they have extended date creamers too!! 4.more shampoos and bath products.. the ones you give are tiny-- your british --splurge on this!!! 5. include breakfast.. the randolph does this so well you need to compete.!!
