Old Cellar Bled (Lake view)

Hands down the best food experience we had in both Bled and Slovenia! For those of you who find yourself confused, it appears that this lake side restaurant (or the staff / owners) were originally in a hotel up the street. These people decided to move down here to be by the lake and for a much larger / nicer restaurant. We decided to try both this one and the "original" location. Without a shadow of doubt it's the people who make a restaurant and not the location. Old Cellar Bled (Lake View) was the better experience across the board! Right out the gate the staff welcome you in at the front door, the restaurant looks great and has a luxury feel. The food was fantastic! We had the King Prawns (which were super tender), the Lamb Shank (my favorite meal of the whole trip), and two desserts. An order of the bled cake and a local dessert called Gibanica. The staff was very friendly and kind as well which is how it should be when paying these prices. Overall, you should totally check this place out!

Absolutely fantastic!! The lamb shank was delicious. This was probably one of the best meals we've had. I emailed for a reservation. I also wanted to be close to the water because it was my husband's birthday. The staff were incredibly accommodating. It was indeed a special evening. Lovely view!!

Excellent restaurant with unparalleled views and classic dishes. As someone that has dined in many Michelins, including the French Laundry, this is a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. There is plenty of outdoor seating. Tables by the waterfront view require reservations. Service was excellent, and our waitress, Inja, had fantastic taste and palate for pairing wines with entrees and for dessert wines. We started with tartare. This was truthfully decent compared to tartares that I have had, but it is tartare nonetheless (and certainly better than what you can find in the States). The beef cheeks were heavy but balanced with the carrots that were firm and sweet and cauliflower. It’s a really thoughtful dish. Unpictured, but my partner had the lamb shank. That was good, and much leaner than the lamb you find in the US, which is consistent with the lamb I have had in Europe generally. The wine pairings with this dish were superb. I also had a negroni to start, which was great and plenty strong.

Very atmospheric place with excellent view to the lake. The quality of the food and wine was superb. The only thing that was better, was the service by our waiter, Kristijan, who elevated our dinner to an amazing experience. He was professional while being friendly and attentive to our needs. We had one of our best dinners here.

Was dead impressed. We visited the night before for drinks only outside and didn't know what to expect inside the restaurant. It was buzzing and much smarter than expected given the advertising over the windows on the roadside. Food was delicious - octopus and gnocchi - and service was great. Highly recommend though advise booking as we were lucky to be seated at the communal table when we arrived.

While the view is amazing, the food is poor and price doesn’t fit to what you get. Seafood risotto was undercooked and under seasoned. The cream cake was good but nothing I would remember. You pay for the place and view. The waiter was very friendly and we got table very quickly.

I started my meal with broccoli soup 🥣 🥦 followed by the main dish (fish/mashed potato). The few is great. However, during the noon it’s not recommended to have a table overlooking the lake as the sunlight a bit strong unless you got lucky with a shadow. The lady who served me was friendly.

The food and the view were excellent, but we were very dissatisfied with the service. Our waitress was very rude, and every time we tried to place an order for the main course and dessert, she would roll her eyes and act like she had something more important to do. Fortunately, one of her colleagues noticed and helped us by taking our order and handing it over to her. In our experience, this kind of service was very strange. We respect that each table has its own assigned server, but unfortunately, we didn’t get a good one.
