The 14 Best Restaurants in Chiang Mai, Thailand | Eater

"Is it the most utterly delicious meal in the city? Not exactly. Is it a quintessential Chiang Mai experience? 100 percent. The northern Thai equivalent of dinner theater couples deliciously pan-regional meals — think slightly sweet, northern Thai-style pork curry, chile-based dips, as well as a couple central Thai dishes — with traditional dance, and has been entertaining both local and foreign visitors for the last 40 years. A great evening activity to experience the history of the Chiangmai people. The dancers and musicians performed for about an hour and a half. Sitting on the floor near the stage was fun and pulls you into experience. We ordered a sample tray that was extra to the buffet. All the food is from the tribes. Our group really enjoyed your time and found it a educational experience. They do have western style chairs and table in you are not able to sit on the floor. I would recommend adding this to your list.

Booked the khan toke dinner online - this was awkward as it defaulted to via PayPal only. Centre communicated with me via email re dietary requirements. We booked the premium experience as vegetarians. Every dish was fantastic, each tasted different. Lots of unique items I have not had before. Every time we thought the meal was done, another course was brought out. The dances were good, my normally reticent daughter was enticed to join on stage. I have been to a khan toke dinner before. This was a smaller more intimate venue with less commercial emphasis.

Great cultural experience. The food was good. Nothing mind blowing but still delicious. My kids were happy there was lots of fried chicken. I enjoyed the fried bananas and the braised beef. The dancing was nice. It was fun to see the different styles of dress from the different local tribes.

This experience made for a really enjoyable evening! It was a great way to immerse myself into the Thai culture. The atomosohere was fun & inviting. Staff were friendly. Food was delicious. Just a note: When booking tickets, they have several menus to choose from for groups of 2 or more. As a solo traveler, I would have liked to have been to select one of the higher end menus, but unless I was willing to pay for two people, you're kind of stuck with the basic choice. Would have been nice to have options, though what I received was delicious!

It's a neat old complex with dinner shows. The shows are ok. It is clear at one point they were more popular in an outside larger stage and even the indoor "rain stage." The food is neat and pretty, but produced in bulk. They have a base price that gets you a nice meal and the show and a VIP price that is more than twice as much that gets you a little nicer meal and up front seating. Food options between the two are not much different. Over all, it all seemed a little tired. Some people left early. I thought about leaving early. Some of the night markets and bazzares also have 'traditonal' dancer shows, and better food for 1/4 the price and in a more lively atmosphere.

Such rich cultural experience, the performance was sensational. Great for family after a big day out! We enjoyed the night of good food, performance, and the dances. A must do if you want to immerse yourself in the Lenna culture.

The experience at Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center was so much better than we expected. The evening began with a delicious spread of local Thai dishes, accompanied by live traditional music that created such a calm and welcoming community atmosphere. As we ate, the performers played beautiful Thai instruments, then later took the stage for a series of graceful, captivating dances — each one telling a story through movement and music. The finale was especially impressive, with a dramatic outdoor fire dance. It felt authentic, respectful of the culture, and incredibly well put together.
