Old Chicago Pizza Company

I have been in Chicago for 2 days, from Michigan. Both days I've been researching what restaurant would have the best Chicago style pizza because my family hasn't tried one before. Trust me I researched. I came across another Michiganders review and she sold me. The love that goes into these pies are truly tasted. Every topping their own flavor. The sauce is perfection, and my 18 year old couldn't stop saying how incredible it tasted and how authentic it was. My 14 year old who is so picky about anything was so excited about how amazing it tasted. He ate more than I have ever seen him eat. The crust is the perfect buttery flakiness without being too greasy. You taste everything, and tonight was the best pizza experience I've ever had. Don't think, just do! Order it. I've been to all the trendy popular downtown Chicago pizza joints, this is a hidden gem and should totally be experienced. And they are so friendly to boot! Authentic, genuine and talented in the culinary art of a deep dish Chicago pie. Enjoy! And thank you so much OCPC! And our Delivery was on time, hot and fresh, and the driver professional and sweet!

On my way home to Michigan from visiting science center and wanted a real Chicago pizza. Ordered pick up. Didn't realize the neighborhood would be a little rough. Close to highway and on my way home. Completely worth it...... old school, owner operated, and amazing pizza. We didn't even wait to get home, pulled over after it cooled and had a slice in the car. Best pizza I've had in ages.

Ordered through doordash, took an hour and when my food arrived pizza smelled funny prior to opening. Once opened pizza was not cut the cheese was literally sliding off of the crust and the crust was not cooked properly. Ever sliced I picked up the cheese slid off the bread. Food and Money went to waste Will not be purchasing again !

I have been eating pizza from Old Chicago since it was off on 79th & Halsted. I know the owner Paul he is very nice. He put a lot of love in his pizzas. I love his pizza. I'm so glad he's on UberEats. His pizza is very delicious. I would recommend all pizza lovers to try his, it's tasty and good!

This was my first time eating from Old Chicago Pizza Company. I tried to order by calling in my order. I was informed that they only accept cash, unless I order online. I was instructed on how to place my order online. My son ordered a deep dish/thick crust cheese pizza. I ordered sausage, onions, and green peppers. The pizzas were delicious and fresh. The cheese was super moist. The sausage was perfectly seasoned, not over bearing with fennel. The only issue I had is the location. You definitely want to order online, pick up your pizza and go. Definitely worth the drive.

Pictures tell it all! 🤬🤬🤬 Food is usually pretty good. Never experienced this before from this establishment. My family and I was very disappointed. We didn't take it back because we live a distance from the restaurant and it was late at night.

We tried this place out and got 2 larges and an individual and it was 70ish$. They had a nashville hot chicken and honey we got the individual of, and it was pretty dang tasty. We got a large pepperoni and large 7 meat i think. They were both pretty good. The crust had a nice crispiness to it. I will say its kind of annoying on the pizza sizes. They seem to only have a 16" and like 8". So IMO they are pretty darn expensive for what it is. We enjoyed it, but I think grabbing a specialty pizza every now and then might be the way to go. It's too expensive for the size of them. Service when we got there was good, however when my wife added a pie to the order she mentioned that the person on the phone seemed annoyed and mean.

When you want the BEST food the hood got it! Old Chicago Pizza Co THEE BEST Chicago deep dish period! They upgraded the size of our pizza no charge! The cheese bread was tasty also. The service was quick and friendly. The next I come back to Chicago I’m going to old Chicago pizza company for my deep dish fix!

Ordered a pizza over the phone and the guy said 35 minutes, got to the store and they said it will take another 25 minutes. I ended up not getting the pizza and left hungry as hell, i was so mad.

Waited almost an hour and food never showed up. Needed up leaving after being told food was coming 3 times! Was our first first and last time here!

First time trying this restaurant. I heard about it from a friend awhile ago but never selected it because it was in my 'hood. I ordered a medium Garbage pizza deep dish along with a Caesar salad for delivery. The salad missed the trip due to it not being available, but I was reimbursed eventually after calling about it so I kept my feelings in check. Usually I order from Lou Malnati, Barracco's, or even Reggio's, but I wanted something different this time. It wasn't bad, actually I found it rather tasty. It's been years since I last had one of these. There was plenty of all the ingredients needed, at least as far as I could remember, to qualify it as a Garbage along with lots of sausage. It lasted two days much to my surprise. Next time I might go for a large one instead, but keep the salad optional.

Probably the best pizza I've ever had in my life! I had delivery which was slow but I'm guessing that wasn't the restaurants fault. The pizza is stacked with toppings and loaded with cheese. They don't go cheap like other places usually go. Love it

I've lived in Chicago for 36 years and this is by far the best pizza. I love this pizza place so much. The taste , the price and customer service is OUTSTANDING

I received a pizza so oily and greasy that the box was soaked in it. It was so soaked in oil, it couldn't be cut. The crust was so soaked in oil/grease it was soggy also.

I was in the mood for something 'different' from my typical pizza experience. I drove past this place a few times before, and decided to give it a try. I got a small cheese pizza; my go-to option. The pizza cost $9, so I figured if it's great, then awesome...but if not, then oh well lol. The pizza just didn't look appetizing upon opening the box, but looks can be deceiving perhaps. I tried it, and it's the most bland pizza I've ever had. The sauce is almost nonexistent; very cheap! Each slice just fell apart upon each attempt to eat it, and after about 4 slices...I tapped out. I mean, this pizza did taste a 'tad' better once I added salt and crushed red pepper...but not by much. I keep seeing reviews about their deep dish being better, but I'll need to refresh my memory of the very lackluster thin crust in order for me to consider trying it. Perhaps if you have the extra 'medicinal munchies', this pizza will get the job done. However, if you're a pizza snob (like myself), just go to the major league spots (Lou's, Ginos, Home Run Inn, Tortorices, etc).

You can never go wrong when Lori G is in the kitchen. She is outstanding at what she does. My pizza today was perfection! IT was made exactly as i requested and it was pretty to look at too. Give this girl a raise. She keeps me coming back!!

ZERO DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR BUSINESS. He DOES NOT RESPECT YOUR DOLLARS. Imma make this quick cuz I don't want to get agitated again. Ordered pizza for my mom via Grubhub. Driver refused to get out of car to leave delivery on my 81yr old mom's porch. He saw my brother going up to the house, asked & confirmed the right address w/my bro then drove off. ‍ I called the restaurant then was yelled at by the owner for not picking my phone in time. I know this review is all over the place, but I guess I haven't healed yet. The owner did not keep his word by returning payment. I went thru Grubhub for my refund.

I enjoyed the deep dish pizza i had. The sauce was a tad bit watery but not too salty and the crust was good. Meat and veggies were fresh and tasty. Overall 2 thumbs up

Ordered a medium meat sensation deep dish. This was actually my first time ever having pizza from this company. I actually really did enjoy it. This pizza came with Canadian bacon, sausage, beef, Mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. The crust reminds me of a buttery piecrust. It's not the usual crust you get other places, but it's very good.

Very friendly and kind. Gave us extra food and delivered to us even when they normally don't. Support this business! They're awesome!

Terrible: Tasted like the inside of a sardine can! Old Chicago used cheap, canned "fried-rice shrimp" and ingredients. My pizza needed garlic, oregano, and some love. Not made with love and it shows! Ordered the Cheese & Shrimp deep dish. ( I usually get Pizza Capri's [hyde park] Spinach & Shrimp deep dish, made with fresh peeled shrimp! ) Margaritas or Italian Fiesta is waaaay better... I guess only the people that live in walking distance of this place must love it. I've been living in the neighborhood for 20 yrs and never heard of this place till last week. I see why no one talks about this place!

My son has autism so the communication error can be assumed to be on him, but we wanted was deep dish. However, the pizza we got was very flavorful. My son loved how retro this hole in the wall is, right down to the staff! We want the original wherever we travel and this is the best of the neighborhood gems.

I walked in and ordered a pepperoni slice, it was big and very tasty for the price. I will be coming back.

The customer service is TERRIBLE & I mean TERRIBLE! I stood in line waiting to be serviced by the cashier and here comes a guy (I'm assuming the manager/owner; and based on previous reviews the SAME 'rude guy') telling me to step up and place my order before the cashier even had a chance to finish the transaction with the customer before me! She was still counting his change, and just sat his money to the side. I purchased 2 deep dish slices of pizza for $7 (not bad, which is why they even have the one star that I've given) Throughout the whole visit 'rude guy' is bouncing around EVERYWHERE, preparing orders in a sloppy manner, and rushing customers. One guy brought his order back stating he was allergic to pepperoni and that he'd take any other type of pizza prepared but he can't do pepperoni. 'Rude Guy' just stared at him, and proceeded to make him wait without even suggesting he'd resolve the issue. Here's where things really went left...I asked 'Rude Guy' for some to-go packets of parmesan cheese as he was handing my food through the window he proceeds to say in a verrryyy rude tone "Come on hunny go gotta ask me for that ahead of time" (in a irritated tone). I respond by telling him "Hold on, I'm a customer and you don't talk to a customer in such a way, all I asked for was some parmesan cheese packets". He then says "your a customer...?" as if he couldn't understand the correlation between business etiquette, and simply treating customers with respect. I kindly responded "you know what sir have a great day I'll give you a nice review". I'm not sure what it is about businesses of this sort but they tend to treat customers very rude and with disrespect, seeing that their business is established in a predominantly black community they feel as if they can talk to us any type of way and assume that we'll continue to patronize their business. I so wish I could give 1/4th of a star!!!

I have never eaten here before but I Siri called it instead of my local pizzeria in Colorado. The guy that answered asked me, "do you know where we are located?" My reply, "ya sure." His response, "then hop in a helicopter and come on over." Next time I'm in Chicago I'm stopping by! This has obviously happened before, thanks Old Chicago.

Where do I start with the pizza. Delivery guy came too in front of my house which I loved cause it's like going threw a maze too get too me. The pizza, I ordered a medium pepperoni, bell peppers, and hot peppers with extra mozzarella. The dough was crunchy yet it literally melts in every chew which I love. The sauce was good asf and they topped it with sum type of basil n butter on top or sum cause I taste an extra ingredient on top. OVERRALL Honestly I was soo scared too order a pizza from here cause ma pizza freak but this place DID NOT let me down

I love this place because they make mostacholi fresh to order! For under 5 bucks you get a hearty sized meal with breadsticks. I will say that it is kinda greasy. I don't mind though, it adds to the flavor! It's just in the hood...

The shrimp pizza taste delish,it was prepared well.however it raised my blood pressure too much salt.

Absolute favorite and tastiest slices of deep dish cheese ...seriously, its warm gooey love. It reminds you of the deep dish that you'd get at a fancy, sit-down pizzeria, but they offer it by the slice. Can you say YUMMNOMNOM

please think twice before ordering here!!! Starting with the first thing, I tried to order online through my yelp app, it said I could not place an order at this time, so I called. The person who answered the phone was in such a hurry that he really couldn't get my order straight or my phone number. He kept interrupting me while I was trying to order... Fast forward even when I had to call back to see when was the pizza going to arrive he rushed me off the phone, stating the pizza would be another 15 minutes, I ordered at 6:15, it did not come until 8:00. When the pizza came it was gross! Hot, but gross! Had no flavor at all and I ordered soggy buffalo wings... Oops my bad, soggy inferno wings that came with yellow ranch. I gave the review a two instead of a one, because my kids said the pepperoni was good. I am overall outdone, this was my first and last time ordering there. Maybe, I caught them on a busy Sunday evening, or maybe it just wasn't for me.

The prices are great, but I wish I could say the same about the service. Maybe dine in is better, but I ordered over the phone twice and the second time they were so rude I canceled my order. The first time I just figured it was a Friday and maybe he was just busy and didn't realize he was actually yelling at me and being very short. The second time he wasn't just loud, he was rude and disrespectful. I wouldn't order dog food from this place.

After spending a day in the city hunting for parking, trying to avoid pedestrians and paying parking fees we decided to search for a pizzeria off the beaten path! Our GPS pointed us here and we googled it and thought it was a chain! Surprise - it apparently just shares the name with a chain with a cool website. We decided to go for it and ordered a family size deep dish for about $23 bucks. My sister ordered a slice of deep dish cheese with a soda for about $3 bucks. Both pieces that I sampled were simply delicious!! I prefer St. Louis style thin crust but the cheese was awesome and lots of it. Now, they don't take plastic and it took 40 minutes for the pizza but it was well worth the wait and we had no trouble finding off street parking. There are no tables and chairs so this is truly take out. It was a great adventure!

I have been around this place either walking or driving and never really thought much of it. I tried it previously years ago with a friend and I remember it not tasting bad but it was only a slice. This time I ordered a family size pizza which was only roughly $14 and it was worth it. I was surprised by how much pizza $14 could buy you especially since the higher end pizza places (Leona's..ehh) and the pizza was good. The only issue I have is that one it's on 79th and King Drive, which by itself is enough to deter certain folks and secondly, my pizza was not cut all the way through (imagine eating awesome pizza but having to rip it apart by hand...it sucked) but other than that...it was awesome.

This is my favorite pizza soooo far!!!! I love the thin crust! I love the sauce! There's a good ratio to sauce and cheese! The man taking my order was extremely nice and enthusiastic! When I picked up the pizza he made jokes and made my quick and short visit very funny and pleasing! I will definitely be ordering over and over again!

COURTYARD BUILDING RESIDENTS BE AWARE - When I first discovered Old Chicago on 79th in October 2013, it was a pleasant surprise. Food was delivered hot, delivery driver was polite, & never had an issue when ordering from them via Grubhub. Fast forward to today, there is a new policy in place regarding the customer having to GO TO THE CAR to retrieve their food. Not sure about you but that seems to defeat the purpose of having food delivered, especially as I know most delivery drivers call prior to their arrival so I'm already downstairs by the time they pull up to my building. The driver began to explain the new policy and when I made a simple inquiry as to how long it had been in effect, he copped an attitude and said "Always". When I asked how long he'd been working for them , he stated a year, to which I then advised, "Then it is INDEED a new policy because I've ordered from here longer than you have been working there." I then told him I wasn't going to argue with him anymore and quickly advised Grubhub of the situation. The manager explained that it is a new policy due to issues that had arisen. Overall, the food is good and decently priced. I imagine that if you reside in a house, you may not have this issue. However, if you are a person/family who resides in a courtyard type building, make sure you have on shoes & a jacket if needed to pick up your food from the delivery driver as apparently they're not trained to leave their vehicles going forward.

We flew in from Houston, TX and found Old Chicago online. We thought it was a sit down restaurant but it was carry out and delivery only. We took the pizza to go and it was AMAZING. We would definitely come back. Also, the service was fast, courteous and very friendly.

I was expecting so much more out a place that deems themselves as Old Chicago Pizza. The only positive things I can say was that the delivery time was great and that they deliver to my house which is by the lake. Now to the bad first off they gave me the wrong pizza and they didnt even call or anything to make sure so I am gathering the people who got my pizza didnt care. Secondly the blade they used to cut it had to be as sharp as the safety scissors that kindergarteners use. Thirdly the sausage, sauce and dough was terrible. It was toooooo sweet and inconsistent with it being thick in some places and thin in the others. and the way they layer it is terrible I picked up one piece and the whole topping fell off. I dont know if I just caught them on a bad night compared to the reviews I have read but based on this experience I wish I could give negative stars. Good luck

The people in there are very rude. I wish i could have actually gotten a chance to try the pizza but because of the disgusting tone from the man who took my order and the person before definitely made me turn around and not give them my business.

Service is terrible. Bartender is really poor, obviously ownership and management is not present at the merrillville location . The bartender is the worst. Third time and still terrible. Parties too much! used to be a great place to watch football on sundays.

Worst service I have ever received at a bar. Walked in at 11:15 we were ignored for 15 mins then told that it was last call in 2 mins with a horrible attitude. Then she made it a point to tell all her patrons have a good night but us. Still tipped 50% bc I didn't want her to be able to justify her poor service. If you're a miserable person, maybe don't get a job in the service industry. Won't be back. 1st yelp review bc I couldn't resist.

I am VERY disappointed with this place. I have eaten here before and I like the pizza but I have never used their deliver. So I placed an order on grub hub at about 9pm. Since they were still in the list I figured there would be no issues with my delivery. About a minuet or two after the order went through I received a call from them stating they couldn't complete my order as delivery. I asked why and they guy stated oh I usually let my delivery guy go home early and your pizza's will take about 45 min. He just left with a bunch of orders and I just can't do it. Now while I am understanding, I think knowing you let the deliver guy go early on certain days you should removed yourself from the list at a certain time so this does not occur. He didn't even give the option of me picking the pizza up. Rushing and cutting me off during the conversation and then hung up before I could say anything else. Very rude and I will NEVER attempt to order from them again..online or in person. I definitely won't recommend them to anyone either.
