My partner and I attended the focaccia class for two with Chef Jeremy Greenbeard--and we had the best time! Chef is incredibly personable, knowledgable, and an over-all great time. The group atmosphere was connective and fun, the antipasta plate and complimentary wine were delicious, and our focaccia loaves were not only gorgeous, but very flavorful fresh and tasting. We decorated the dough Chef made together first, and then while those were baking, we made our own dough to take home! This was a birthday gift for my partner, and Chef & Rue brought out a little treat and we sang for him, which was very special. We will absolutely be back!

Bagel class with Justin and Taylor was great! My wife and I learned a lot while making and eating scratch made bagels. In addition to making bagels in class, you make a dough to take home and bake your own batch. The home batch was just as good as the class batch! (Per couple: Eight bagels total in class and Four bagels as take home dough). Class is casual and meant to be fun and light. Justin and Taylor are a good team. Justin is the chef and Taylor is the entertainment! Wine is served during class and eating time included a variety of spreads and lox! We had a fun time and we will be looking to take another class soon.

Such a fun experience! Chef Justin was not only extremely knowledgeable and talented but he was a great teacher and made the class approachable for those of all skill levels. It was just the right amount of food and the wine was a great addition :)

Chef Justin and Chef Rew were amazing! I had a great night doing the Asian Dumpling Class. Would recommend to everyone, and I hope to go to another class soon!

We had an amazing time learning how to make pasta with Justin and Taylor. Everything we made was delicious and it felt approachable and doable at home. Learning with Justin and Taylor were the true highlights of the experience! They were engaging, knowledgeable, and so much fun to learn from! Their personalities really set the tone and made the class feel relaxed, interactive, and entertaining.

My husband bought this Tuscany cooking class for the holidays and it was beyond what I was expecting! Jeremy was our chef and he was so informative on making pasta dishes and made us all feel so welcome as though we were in his own home. It was so fun and Ruthann did a great job making sure we all continued to have wine and water replenished. The three pasta dishes were outstanding and we all left with recipes airdropped to us! Highly recommend!

Red, Hot & Green! I took my mother here for a focaccia cooking class as part of her birthday gift! We had an absolutely AMAZING time. Jeremy, AKA “The Green Bearded Chef”, was the BEST! He owned that kitchen - hands down. His knowledge, personality, and energy were up front and on point! The focaccia was delicious and the company engaging. We dressed, seasoned, baked and enjoyed one pan, and made fresh dough to go for another pan at home. As the sign reads: Come As Guests, Leave As Friends. We purchased Green Beard Spices and an Old City Kitchen apron to add to our basket of memories. If you’re looking to gather, to do something different, in an intimate setting, then add a cooking class at the Old City Kitchen to your list. You will not be disappointed! #GoBirds #GreenBeard

First time at Old City Kitchen and it was super fun. We were welcomed w cheese plates, airy focaccia and crusty Italian bread & our choice of Red or White wine. We were seated directly in front of the Chef for the class which consisted of 3 different handmade pasta and sauce recipes. Chef was funny and skilled & We sampled all of the dishes ! Everyone there seemed to be on a date but this was just as much fun w a friend. Will definitely be back !!!

My daughter recently went to a pasta making class there and had an amazing time and learned a lot. The staff was so incredibly accommodating and genuine, and she is so excited about attending more classes there.

Can't rave about Ed's Pasta 101 Class enough! This is a great intro to pasta making course that goes through many different pasta shapes (2 doughs) and 3 different sauces. It is interactive in forming making the pasta shapes while Ed does the cooking. He's super friendly and knowledgeable, giving tips, tricks, stories, and philly recs. Wine is offered throughout the class with both antipasto and focaccia (see pictures). Pro tip: save ur focaccia for ur extra sauce (if you can)!

How fun! We came as a company event and had such a blast. Chef Ed was great, letting us get our hands dirty while doing most of the cooking. The wine was flowing, the food kept coming. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would recommend to anyone!

We had a fantastic time at Chef Greenbeard's first ever Knife Skills Class. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information about knives & cuts, along with a display of about 15 of his own knives and a hands on portion of the class before making us a couple of delicious dishes to taste. We learned a lot while having a lot of fun. Highly recommend!!

We had heard that Old City Kitchen had opened and naturally, being that it's so close, we kept an eye on when it would open and what they would offer. We couldn't resist the Pasta 101 class, so signed up and have been anticipating the class for several weeks now. What a good time the three hour period was. Chef Ed was super engaging and allowed for plenty of time for us to ask questions. The class started with him explaining what we would be doing and discussing the ingredients while we got to snack on our small bites (all of which was quite tasty; loved the bread, in particular). We then proceeded to make three different types of pasta and three different sauces. As someone who loves and has tried making cacio e pepe pasta before (and failed miserably), I was particularly excited to learn more about this and the proper technique to make it edible. I definitely think my next attempt will be more successful due to what we learned today. The simple Alfredo and quick tomato sauce were both quite tasty, too. We also got to learn more of the technique around making fresh pasta - the right texture and feel really. The hands on nature of this and ability to ask questions really helps. We have done other online cooking classes and read countless books, but never felt like we were getting it right. Today was truly helpful. We loved the mix of hands on/hands off, too. Each group got to play a part in contributing to the meals success. Laura and her assistant kept us all hydrated along the way as well, and couldn't have been any more accommodating as well. We will definitely be back for more of these. It was such a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. They do private parties and events as well. I would highly recommend taking a look at what they offer if you want to do something like this.

Really cozy vibe, friendly staff, great food. It's obvious the staff are treated well and happy to be there. The food is amazing.

I first stumbled upon Old City Kitchen last year when they were doing an empanada pop-up and was very impressed by the delicious food and the very friendly and personable owner and chef that my friend and I met there. Since then, I had my eye on their cooking class offerings and finally made it to a class yesterday. The class was an Indian Vegetarian cooking class taught by chef Chetna, whose passion really came through in the demo. The class was a mix of more traditional dishes and the chef's unique creations and everything was absolutely delicious (I am still delightfully full upon waking up)! The owner, Laura, is such a lovely and kind person who has clearly put her heart into this business, and makes everyone feel so welcome in the space (and keeps everyone's wine glasses full!). I decided to go by myself and was a bit nervous to be in a room full of strangers, but it didn't feel that way at all in her and the chef's presence. I was raving about the experience to my husband and we are already planning to come back for a pasta class in the future. Highly recommend these classes whether you want something to do by yourself or with someone else!

Last night we had the opportunity to participate in a Halloween themed dinner. What a fun night. We met so many great people and enjoyed a multi course delicious meal. I highly recommend this experience if you're looking to do something fun and interesting.

This was SUCH a fun experience and I highly recommend. I chose Old City Kitchen's Pasta Making 101 class for a special birthday gathering with a group of friends after doing a lot of research on the options in Philly. This emerged as the best experience and value and I agree! Chef Ed gave a great class on making pasta and sauces, and they were all delicious. Laura was super-helpful in planning this class, and so easy to communicate with, as was her assistant. Glasses were kept filled with wine and other non-alcoholic beverages throughout the class, so this works for all ages and drinking preferences. Most importantly - people loved it and thought it was fun, festive and memorable!!

This was such an amazing experience! We came for the pasta making class and Chef Edward was incredible. Not only did we learn how to make pasta, but everything was delicious tasting. Laura made sure our glasses were filled with delicious wine and made everything welcoming and enjoyable. I will definitely be back!

Took a few friends to Chef Ed's four sauces of roma class and had a great time. He was so engaging and fun to be around, and made it just seem like a dinner with friends while learning a few tips. Highly recommend! As for the negative reviews below, that is just one chef (my understanding is that Old City Kitchen works with many different ones).

I had my team building event for work here and it was a blast. A professional pasta chef made a meal with us. I'm new to making pasta so mine looked a little funny but tasted great. I really had a good time.

Came here for a pasta cooking class. Ed the chef is fantastic and the food was amazing. We got to help make the pasta while Ed handled some of the more complicated and time consuming sauces and such. Would absolutely go back for another one his classes there!

My husband and I always have a great dinner with Chef Michelle's pop up kitchen and her Venezuelan empanadas. We've tasted a variety of flavors including three cheeses, pulled beef, and ground beef, not to mention her homemade lemonades (blueberry lavender, strawberry, raspberry, and brown sugar black tea)! Chef Michelle comes to work at 7am to start her cooking so that by dinner time the meat's texture is soft and savory. You can really taste the love that goes into her cooking. Definitely come here for a filling dinner at reasonable prices!

I work in CA but my team was in PA for a meeting, which is always challenging. I was lucky to come across Laura and Old City Kitchen. She was most wonderful to work with and helped me put together a great team building cooking event for my team of 21. She created a Mexican Fiesta night. They made Ceviche, Tacos, Salsa to take home, Salads fresh juice for Margaritas and they had a blast. I highly recommend Laura and her team of chefs.

My wife and I are always looking for interesting things to do. A cooking class with a chef is right up our alley. We had some good food, some good lessons learned and most of all a lot of great laughs. If you're looking for a great night out on the town in Old City, this is the perfect thing to do. Enjoy!
