This is an awesome local bookstore with a surprising amount of selection! The shelves kept going back and back and the store was well organized by genre.

They always have the books I need, and if not they will order for you. Incredibly kind and helpful staff. Super awesome to have the tea house next door. I love this place!

I LOVE Old Firehouse Books!! I recently picked up a pre order from them and have been shopping there more often recently and I never have anything but a great experience. It’s such a cozy atmosphere and everyone I’ve encountered that works there has been so kind and fun! I’ll keep ordering my books here for sure!

Google
Old Firehouse Books is literally my favorite bookstore of all time! I will gladly make the drive from Denver to Fort Collins any day of the week to check out their selection! They have a wide variety of genres (but their romance selection is the best in CO by far!!) & every ref I’ve ever gotten from them has been a 5 star for me!! I love the team at OFB and can’t wait to see them again!

Google
We had the pleasure of visiting the store for the first time on Pride night last week. What a wonderful place! My four year old and I went with some friends and found some great LGBTQ representative books. Friendly and helpful employees as well. We definitely will go back!

If you are looking for an incredible local bookstore, this is it. They are my go to for gifts. Not only do they provide fast shipping, but they also add beautiful gift wrapping and a note. I highly recommend!

Google
It’s a very left wing bookstore. (The owner's reply to my review will show you just that). I was looking at a number of subjects I was interested in. It seems to exclude any views but the most leftist. I’m not looking for a bookstore that has picked the “correct” position on subjects. I like bookstores that present balanced and various viewpoints and lets the readers decide, which is largely the point of books. I’m not Jewish, but in the section about Israel Palestine, it was a very one sided selection that was very pro Palestine. There didn’t seem to be any other viewpoints allowed. It’s cozy and it has books, both of which I like.

Cute place in historic part of town. Staff was friendly but wished the selection of books was more diverse. Nice place to stop by.

Yelp
I am a sucker for an independent bookstore. It is a lovely space, right next to a quality tea shop. My favorite feature is the mystery book section near the front. These are books wrapped in brown paper, with a few descriptors on the front, and a quotation from the book along the spine. These books are not for sale per say, but you can make a donation to a rotating charity (when I was there it was for an organization that supported farm education for youth). I was introduced to this shop by my college-age son, who brought home a whole stack of these mystery books at Christmas and each of us got to pick one on Christmas morning (based on nothing but the descriptors and quotation). It was really delightful for our bibliophile family. If I were a FoCo local, I fear I would be in here on a very regular basis.

Yelp
Cashier was lamenting over a political documentary that she didn't like with another employee and was too busy to answer a question about a book, so I left it on the counter and went elsewhere. If you're looking for the last great old town bookseller, try Indigo Rose Books.

Yelp
I loved this bookstore and cannot believe how my romantasy heart thrived when I entered. This experience was so amazing and I will be back!!

Yelp
Love bookstores! The layout was organized and spacious. Good lighting and lots of room allowed me to careful scan the titles and authors. It was a wonderful experience. Ah books!

Yelp
Have been wanting to support local businesses this year so have been working hard to locate small businesses to get my holiday gifts at verses amazon. I had never been to old fire house books prior to my visit early december. I emailed them in november to ask if they had a selection of books that i was wanting to purchase. They didn't have them all in stock, but they let me know they could order them and gave me the prices. I corresponded back that yes i wanted them to order the books for me. They gave me a call when my books came in. I went in to pick them up and pay. I didnt actually get to go wander around the store, but from what I could tell it looked like it had a lot of character. The staff was friendly and super helpful in person (and of course over the email). Loved my experience here and will definitely be back for future book purchases!

Yelp
I can't describe how much I love quaint, independent bookstores! I ordered through Old Firehouse Books during Covid and they continue to have my business. Shop where you live and, besides, the staff is so friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Very nice staff and a pretty good app for ordering books. Had to use the notes area to specify that we wanted gift wrapping, everything to be in the same package and the text of a gift card enclosure. One very nice feature is a low cost option for local delivery one evening a week with a modest tip venmo-ed to the driver!

Yelp
Randomly found this place while in Old Town! A true hidden gem for books! The vibe was awesome! 10/10.

Yelp
Aren't bookshops the best? There is something about the smell as soon as you walk through the door; it's familiar, it's comforting, and it makes you crave an adventure in word form. That's exactly how I felt when entering Old Firehouse Books. We entered from the Tea House side of the store, with warm tea in hand. This was also a comfort. Tea and books?! Yes!! We immediately immersed ourselves in the exploration. Firehouse Books has a lot to offer: all genres of books, comic books, journals, shirts and pins. They have a cookbook and health section that I found myself spending a lot time in, and we also made sure to make it to the back of the store where the kids section is. Bookstores are a dying breed, and it's extremely tragic. Spend your time and money in local bookstores and help them thrive. This bookstore is a gem in Fort Collins and should be treated as such!

Yelp
We've shopped their mail-order service twice now. The first time came off well-enough, and that inspired us to go for a second order, especially when the shop was named in an article asking for help during this pandemic. We love supporting independent booksellers (writers, publishers, etc.), so we found three used books my husband especially wanted and couldn't find locally. Ordering online went smoothly, but a problem occurred with shipping somewhere along the way. Our envelope (yellow mailer with bubble wrap) contained two books and no packing slip, which I thought was weird. Plus, the envelope itself was dirty and ripped up. After notifying the company, they got right on it and send us a replacement book at no charge. That was great of them, but when the second packet arrived, same bubble mailer and still no packing slip. Frankly, I expected a better (sturdier) pack job, and no order slip the second time makes me think they just don't include them, not that it got lost or mishandled by the Post Office along the way. E for effort, I suppose, but I won't be prioritizing this shop when I'm looking to make future purchases.

Yelp
Very cool little bookstore that so graciously hosted a pop up for Nuance chocolate. The store is neat and had a great selection for their small size and the staff was very friendly.

Yelp
There was a wide variety of books but not what I was looking for. The books were put into cubicles and it felt like I was in a work space and almost as if, trapped. There was so many people there it was almost suffocating. But I could see why, because it was a pretty shop

Yelp
I'm a romance reader, so the review is low due to how few romances they had. If you aren't a romance reader, I'm sure this bookstore will not disappoint! If you are a romance reader, still check it out, but know that they have a small selection.

Yelp
The Old Firehouse Bookstore is absolutely lovely, not just for the ambiance (old fire station complete with brass pole!) but also for the lovely selection of independent titles and selections that are well-organized into thoughtful categories throughout the store. I could happily spend hours with a few cups of tea trolling through all their titles and be in literary heaven. The selection is stellar and the friendly, thoughtful staff is always available for assistance. They are more than happy to special order any wild or weird title you may desire. Old UK titles of love letters from Churchill to Clementine? Annotated Naruda from original translations? No problem. Just last week I went in looking for a hard-to-get copy of Shel Silverstein and found it amongst a treasure chest of old favorites that had me laughing along with the titles from my childhood. What a delight!! OFB is a local store with local flavor run for local people and we love 'em for it. It's the kind of place where history and hermeneutics happily mix into a funky and fresh atmosphere. If you are the kind of reader that stalks sterile stalls on a mission for Oprah's latest hitlist, perhaps this venue isn't for you (may I perhaps suggest the big ugly box store down the street?) But if you are someone who values literature and lingering a little--maybe spending the afternoon pairing a little chamomile and Camus--this is the perfect place to while away a snowy day.

Yelp
I spend way too much money here, but that is because I love the books. This is a really charming place to look for used and new books, and it is attached to Happy Lucky Teahouse - what a perfect combination! Everyone there is a true bibliophile, and they can all recommend books to you - someone gave me great suggestions for short story collections I could use in my lit class. I would say that, in terms of price, they are quite a bit more expensive than the Boulder Bookstore (if you want to compare/understand the pricing), but it is certainly one of the two best places to go in Fort Collins.

Yelp
Oh wow! I think I fell in love with Old Firehouse Books all over again! Last time I was here I seemed to find all kinds of books I wanted to get! On this visit they expanded the store even more in the back which now houses graphic novels, children's books and more genres! This is just another excuse to go to Happy Lucky Teahouse and the walk into the other room to pour over the books! Yay!

Yelp
Old Firehouse Books is a beautiful location, and perfect for any bookworm. I was particularly taken by the staff recommendations on the bookshelves, but even better were the blank recommendation sheets that allowed visitors to fill out their own recommendations for fellow readers. Though I didn't end up purchasing anything, I was utterly charmed by Old Firehouse Books and I would definitely return.

Yelp
Love this place! my favorite local bookstore! They have a great selection and always help me if they dont have a book in that I want. Support this local bookstore!!

Yelp
Love love love Old Firehouse bookstore and the people that work there. This bookstore will do whatever they can to help you. I always feel happy when I have wonderful cup of tea and go to Old Firehouse bookstore. I am sooooooo looking forward to the day when they are open and I can meet my friends in old town for lunch and then pick up a book at the Old Firehouse Bookstore!

Raygina K.

Yelp
This is the best bookstore in Fort Collins. The ability to order online and pay/pick up in the store makes shopping here incredibly easy and the customer service is always very good. The trade credit policy is really good. I really enjoy Old Firehouse Books.

Yelp
Four stars for any local bookseller but five when they always have exactly what I'm looking for including fun socks, Theo's chocolate and, of course, books! Great selection of local and Colorado authors.

Mark S.

Yelp
If you want to get ripped off and treated like shit, then this is the place to go! Horrible associates who are quite happy to overcharge you and are not the least bit helpful. I used to love this spot but it seems they have sold their souls. You would be much better served by going to a 'Barnes and Noble' at least the clerks there don'r hate the customer and actually try and help the reader. It is so sad to see a bookstore decline this rapidly!

Yelp
This book store is the best! Beth was so wonderful helping me pick out a particular type of book for my son. Then she enthusiastically sat with him showing him different dinosaur books. I found a great selection of new and used books, all at very reasonable prices. We are new to town and this will definitely be my go-to bookstore.

Yelp

Yelp
Quality selection, excellent staff recommendations, well-organized, clean and bright. Annexed next to an amazing tea house. Browsing here is a time-consuming joy.

Yelp
Yay! My favorite book store! I love the fact that they have used books and their selection is great. The store is very nice and the staff is always friendly :-)

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Somehow they remember me, even when i am away for awhile. If they don't have a book I am looking for they are always willing to put an ear to the grindstone, and let me know if and when it pops up. I love their new location, as it is next to an awesome tea house.

Yelp
This is an interesting local independent bookstore that is especially strong on science fiction and on local authors. They also have a wall of best-sellers, a lot of staff picks, and a wide variety of other categories (my favorite section title is "Memoirs and Creative Non-Fiction"). The don't have everything, but a lot of care went into selecting their stock. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the store is conveniently located in the Old Town near city parking and next to dozens of other interesting local stores and restaurants.

Yelp
A great place to figure out what you want to read next! The staff picks are always worth a try and everyone who works there is really nice and helpful. Put down your electronic devices and come check out some lovely printed word!

Yelp
I adore Old Firehouse Books! Sure, the prices run higher than low-balling online outlets, but you get what you pay for. This bookstore offers premium service -- great selections and enticing staff recommendations all bundled up in a lovely old fire station. Browsing the shelves there is an absolute delight.
google avatar

Yelp
What I love about old firehouse is the great selection, the combo of new and used, and the fact I can order anything I like on line and either have it mailed to me or pick up in the store. Support your local bookstore!

S G.

Yelp
Excellent local bookstore. Great selection of books, puzzles, and book-themed paraphernalia. Could have spent a few hours here. Also thought it cute the kids' section had recommendations by kids and why those are good books ("It's funny to hear adults read it put loud").
google avatar

Allie S.

Yelp
Can't believe how organized this store is, and they have so many sci-fi books! I'll be back.

debbie b.

Yelp
I really like this bookstore. It has a nice variety of new and used books. Clever combination. If they don't have what I am looking for they will quite cheerfully order it for me, Which is great since I am sometimes looking for books that are a bit obscure. Their service is great. It is a bit of a rabbit warren inside but once you have oriented yourself to the space, it is easy to navigate and find the sections you are looking for.

Joanna L.

Yelp
Great selection and prices. Has an amazing buy back program, you can check their inventory online, and order anything they don't have in stock. Skip the big chain stores, this is way better. Support local!
