I booked this steakhouse for A's actual birthday dinner. We had tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and this was a good place to eat as it was near the venue. When I booked it, I didn't fully realize it was in the Gaylord Opry Resort. And when we realized it was in the resort, we didn't think the resort was massive.
You could book a trip to Nashville and stay at the Opry Resort Land and never leave. It has everything you want: restaurants, shops, arcades, pools, entertainment.
When we walked in, we were amazed by how large it was and it like an indoor garden basically, with a waterfall and koi pond. It was like a Japanese garden. Really gorgeous. The restaurant itself was inside more and we almost got lost trying to find it. We eventually found it and we were a few minutes late but it was ok. We had an early dinner reservation so it wasn't too crowded yet. Our waiter was super nice and welcoming. I also forgot his name (Paul, or Bob, or Richard, but he was from Boston, that I do remember).
We chose not to eat too much because we had eaten our weight in food the night before. So we didn't get any appetizers. We went straight to entrees. I got the lamb rack and A got the NY Strip (I think). I haven't had rack of lamb before so it was a real experience. I always see it on MasterChef so I wanted to finally try it. It was a little hard to eat because there was a lot of knife work involved but it was cooked perfectly. It had to perfect pink center, seasoned well. A really liked his NY Strip. It's also something he doesn't eat often so he inhaled his.
Dessert, we got chocolate cake that was decadent AF. It was this rich chocolate cake that was a bit much for me but we finished it and it was glorious.
The overall experience was excellent and if you have a chance to get out to the resort, try this restaurant. It's pricey, but worth it.
